Quirky hotel
Unusual hotel.. quirky decor... interesting. Wonderful location near to old town, shops, restaurants and train station. Underground car park close by..... discounted rate if you get a card from the hotel. Friendly helpful staff.
Impossible to find
Getting to it in a vehicle was nearly impossible ...it is in a pedestrian precinct...only a passing pedestrian saved me wandering for hours by pointing out a doorway which had a phone but was no entry to the back of the hotel....had to abandon bike and carry stuff 2 hundred yards to hotel....receptionist spoke no English and was short on patience when explaining to me the private and well disguised underground carpark a circuitous route away. No-one offered to come with me to receive key to carpark when I left....so two trips in full motorcycle gear to load ,recover bike and then take key back....
Good value for an expensive part of spain
For the price of the hotel is was perfectly fine. Hotels in the Basque Country can be pricey. Bare in mind there is no air con so room gets hot! Location is right in town, 2 minutes from the train station.
Underrated at 2 stars!!!
Well worth it. Good location. Friendly , attentive and helpful staff. Would recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone. Only downside, slightly lacking noise isolation (i.e. could hear neighboring patrons quite clearly). This, however, is generally to be expected all over Spain for this level/range hotel.
Lovely little place
Super kitch but somewhat adorable nonetheless. Worth it if you're not willing to spend a whole lot. The location is amazing.
Good experience, awesome for ERASMUS students!
I stayed here while i searched for a flat, as I was heading to study at the local university. The location was perfect for this and great for places of interest in the city. The staff were really lovely, and two in particular seemed really please to help and chat, asking how i was getting on, and were really flexible in terms of me extending my stay or cutting it short. The decor was insane, sort of tacky but charming. The cleanliness was for the most part very good but not the best I've stayed in by a long chalk. However bedding was changed regularly which was handy as I ate take out in the room a couple of times, and you try hitting your mouth consistently! People justifiably complain about the lack of a lift but as long as you're aware in advance it's fine and staff helped me get my bags in and out. Also slept fantastically... Once almost til the afternoon, so quiet is it despite its location, and so effective were the blinds. Overall it was a nice experience and felt a lot more personal than many hotels, as well as having genuinely lovely staff and quite a nice price!
Remarkable small centre town hotel. No lift or car park but bursting with character, full of Roman statues and paintings that could have been from the Cistine chapel.Dont stay if you have a lot of luggage to hall up the stairs,or if you want a sterile hotel with perfectly numbered rooms on featureless corridores.Go only if you want a hotel you might always remember.
hotel with a difference
Slightly quirky decor which is good in my book. No breakfast at the hotel but there is a really excellent cafe directly opposite the hotel which is not surprisingly full of Spanish business people having breakfast. The only problem we had was finding the hotel which had foxed our sat-nav. We did eventually find the recommended car park which is quite near the hotel.
This hotel is a gem - clean and classy!
This hotel is a real gem!!! The decor is like a poor man's Versailles with all sorts of statues, mirrors and what-not in the hall ways - on a pedestrian only street in the very heart of the city so it is super quiet. The rooms are lovely and all have a little porch or balcony. You can't beat the price... the desk staff are very friendly (although they do not speak English). There is no elevator and except for the kind of drab bed covers the rooms are pretty fresh - not at all what you would expect from a low-price hotel. If you're visiting Vitoria this is the place you want to stay!
Recommended if you're in Vitoria
A quaint & quirky hotel that doesn't have a bar, restaurant or parking but is conveniently situated in the center of town near all the good bars, restaurants and car parks. I thoroughly recommend this hotel
Stop over on the way home
Hotel Dato was very well situated in the centre of Vitoria. The only negative point from our perspective was that it was on a pedestriansed street wiht no parking. But the girl on recpetion was very helpful and gave us a map and explained car parks could be found or where we could park on street for free. The on street free car parking was about a 10 minute walk - but it was actually easier than trying to find a car park. The hotel is very wll placed to explore Vitoria and being in the heart of the city all bars, restaurents, shops etc were very close by. The hotel does not have a bar or cafe of any description but there is one next door and one opposite. We stayed on the 10th September and the evening was a plesent temperature, the rooms do not have air con so in the height of summer this could be a problem for some travellers. Hotel Dato provided us wiht a great stopover in northern Spain as we travelled by to the UK. I would certainly reccomend it for a couple of nights and would use it again as a stopover.
Relaxed place, in the center near the trainstation. Ideal for travelling on or a exploration of the old town.

Friendly and helpful staff at reception desk. Clean and comfortable room with view on the street. Option to store luggage after checkout was very much appreciated.
Parking concertado a 3 minutos.
Hotel in toller Lage
Positiv: Sehr schönes Hotel (Stil) mit bequemen Matratzen. Tolle zentrale Lage. Freundliches Personal.

it was very tranquil area, also quiet room. The bathroom had some dangerous steps around, as well as the access from the corridor to the room itself. And the bathroom door being of glass was making the use of it a bit uncomfortable as for privacy is concern
