Absolutely loved our stay at the Butterfly! The staff was so friendly and the location can’t be beat. Super convenient to the train station, shops, skiing, and dozens of restaurants. We’ll definitely be back!

Great no frills option and unbeatable location — staff goes out of their way to please guests — breakfast is quite nice

Very convenient location as it is less than one block from the train station (no cars are allowed in Zermatt). Clean facilities and helpful guest services. Breakfast was great and free with a stay. Cheap beer at the bar which is unheard of in Switzerland. Balcony was nice but could be loud at times but overall Zermatt is a very quiet place.

Nice, comfortable and clean room. Pretty near the zermatt main station as well as the Gornergret station which makes it quite convenient. Several shops and food options around.

Beautiful View

We got upgraded to the romantic suite and it was absolutely stunning. We had a balcony with a beautiful view of the city, and the goats on the mountain to the right.

Wonderful Hotel

This is a wonderful hotel located less than a 5-minute walk from the train station. The staff are wonderful; friendly, helpful, and informative. The rooms are large and have been recently renovated. The beds are comfortable and plenty of pillows are provided.

Wonderful place to stay in Zermatt! It is a 3 minute easy walk from the train station, but off of the main road so it is quiet and peaceful. Views are great. Room very comfortable and complimentary breakfast and afternoon tea were both so nice! The only slight issue we had was that there was construction/remodeling going on during the day so we couldn't take an afternoon nap but we understand that they had to get the work done before ski season :) Lovely and helpful staff. Would definitely stay here again if we come back to Zermatt.

Included Breakfast was incredible. Beds weren’t very comfortable but everything else was fabulous.

Propert was well maintained and clean. English speaking in non english company was good. No problems. Very close and easy to find from train station.

The room was spacious, comfortable and had a balcony with a view of the mountains. Perfect spot close to the train station and the breakfast and dinner first class.

The Butterfly Hotel is a three-minute walk from the train station, which is what initially attracted me. I was so pleased to find an immaculately maintained property with the friendliest front staff you’ll ever find! Our room was comfortable and white-glove clean. The breakfast included in the room price was generous with much variety. Finally, the hotel was mere steps from Zermatt’s main thoroughfare. You cannot go wrong reserving accommodations here!

Annual trip to the Alps

Have been staying at Hotel Butterfly every summer for many years. Always very clean. Top notch staff who go the extra mile for whatever I need. Delicious breakfast with variety. The best kitchen staff. Hotel is close to the train station and everything in beautiful Zermatt

Wonderful hotel!

Fantastic stay! If you are ever looking for somewhere to stay in Zermatt then this is the place! Very accessible but quiet, wonderful facilities including tea time every day and a great breakfast! We were on the 6th floor and we even had a view of the Matterhorn! Highly recommend!!

Good location, quiet and spacious room

Mountain water is cold

Spoiled somewhat by there being no hot water on our last day. When we reported the problem the response was yes it is the same for everybody. And then we also had a blocked toilet. Otherwise the hotel room was quite comfortable and included a balcony with 2 chairs with a good view.

The actual hotel was perfect. Short walk to town, like 2 minutes. Definitely worth the price and would recommend. The hot water went out in the entire hotel, they did not alert anyone. They told me to wait an hour. So I did, within that hour they had the audacity to call and tell us to check out. We had been sitting in our room waiting for the hot water to turn back on and they asked us to leave. Our sheets also had a stain and tear. Bar staff was absolutely lovely. They recommended a wonderful dinner option, Grumpi’s. A must have!! Other than that, would recommend the hotel.

Good facilities but cannot expect warm hospitality from this hotel, except two young waiters in the restaurant who are always very polite and helpful.

Stay in Zermatt

On this trip i have stayed at two other hotels before Hotel Butterfly. The breakfast buffet was the best i have had of all the hotel buffets. Room was cleaned daily. The location to the train station is great as well.

We stayed here for 4 nights, and enjoyed the hotel. Our room (mountain view does not mean Matterhorn) was a good size, comfy beds and seating. A Kettle to make tea and coffee was appreciated. Hotel is just a 5 min walk from the train station and a supermarket, and close to many restaurants. They serve a good breakfast, as well as complimentary coffee and cake in the afternoon. Overall, good location, good sized room and good breakfast made for a pleasant stay.

This hotel was close to the train station and walkable to many shops and restaurants. One of the staff was super helpful but once we called down to ask a question and we were rushed off the phone and hung up on after asking the restaurant at the hotel. Breakfast offered an assortment of choices. One morning we ate breakfast later about 1hour before it closed, the hot food was like warm and the butter machine ran out of butter. The next morning we arrived early for breakfast and everything was hot and available. Beautiful view from our room and a very nice patio. Beds were comfortable and the bathroom was updated.

Room came with balcony as requested for mountain view but it snowed everyday so quite difficult to use balcony. Room was spacious and comfy Breakfast was good and teatime was included which was good for recharging Hotel location good

Nice location

Lovely Swiss hotel

It's a lovely hotel with a very authentic Swiss feel to it. Excellent location within a 3-min walk from the main train station, about 5-min to the Gornergrat train and a ski bus stop to get to Sunnegga lift. Also located very centrally close to the shops, restaurants, and ski rental. Has a lovely sauna and a steam room too. Even a wood fire in the lobby in the evening. Breakfast buffet had enough variety of options for more traditional and healthier choices. Would highly recommend.

We stayed for 4 nights and it was great! The perfect location, just a short walk from the train station. The room was very nice and we had a little patio to sit outside our room with a mtn. view. Breakfast was excellent! Easy access to our skis & boots. I would definitely stay here again!

Fantastic hotel in the heart of Zermatt! Literally a 500 foot walk from the train station to hotel, and that same distance to basically everything else in the town. Free breakfast buffet which was very very good, and tea happy hours every night. Room was very clean, private balcony, very nicely unfitted rooms. Highly recommended!

Lovely hotel

Lovely stay, the staff couldn’t be more helpful and friendly. Only stayed 1 night and left too early for breakfast so they made us a little breakfast box to take with us. The restaurant was also brilliant with excellent food and service.

Very close to train station

Hotel Butterfly is very close to the main station and from the main street and yet slightly away from the noise. The room was nice with an amazing balcony. The staff is friendly and the breakfast was wonderful. They have tea time as well. The dining room is just perfect and cozy for a mountain resort. We went off-season, in October. many other hotels, shops, and restaurants were closed but I still loved it. Half the town was open.

I have nothing but praise for this hotel ! The cost was high but typical for Zermatt. The room was large , we had a nice balcony , it was quiet but her right off of the busy street with tons of shops and restaurants. Five minute walk to train station. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic. Would highly recommend it !

Very clean and nice accommodations

The bath tub was too narrow and as we were given the fifth floor with the wooden blocks on the ceiling, there were times we got knocks on the head using toilet and had to be mindful near bedside too. Otherwise it is nice. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The Greek staff in the restaurant has also very good attitude.

Enjoyed the wonderful breakfast and the afternoon tea. Loved all the flowers on the front of the hotel. Close to train station but very quiet.

Good property to stay at Zermatt

Hotel is a lovely combination of traditional and modern. Very clean and comfortable. Staff were extremely helpful. The free afternoon drinks and cake were a nice touch. Very convenient for the station and the main town. Would definitely recommend.

Really loved this place. Had an issue with another booking - I thought I would have been stranded without a place to stay. Booked this place rather late in the evening and the staff welcomed me with open arms. The place was impeccably clean, room was comfortable, view was absolutely outstanding!

The hotel is close to the train station, which was very important for our morning trip on the Glacial Express. Check in was smooth, and the property is very nice.

It's a very nice property with gorgeous flowers on all the decks. Traditional Swiss construction, very charming!

We had a comfortable room with a wonderful view of the Matterhorn. Everything was walkable and it was very close to the train station, but tucked back a little from the Main Street.

No AC means open windows- we felt it was too warm, and therefore loud as there were restaurants close by. Such a shame that that single fact clouded everything else, but that’s common in Switzerland I imagine

All is ok in my time vacation

Great hotel and very nice room. The staff was helpful and friendly. Room was nice with balcony and beautiful view of side of mountain. Easy walk to town shops and restaurants and train station. They were kind and drove us the minute back to train station when we left! Breakfast was good as well.

Great hotel close to the train station

Excellent hotel a couple of blocks from the train station. Room and bathroom was in great condition. We arrived around midnight and the hotel staff left clear instructions on how to get access to the room. Staff was friendly and gave us plenty of good advice on what to do. Breakfast was also pretty good. Overall very pleased with Butterfly hotel.

The property was beautiful inside and out. The staff was great. Breakfast was included, which was unexpected. My only critique was that the shower was very slippery.

Stayed there 2 nights. We wanted to eat dinner in the hotel the first night since we were tired. They said they had closed early due to lack of business. If a hotel posts dining room hours they need to keep them. They suggested we try the next night since they figured they wouldn be busier. We did but then they said we shoud have made reservations and sent us off. Both nights we went to Alex's across the road and the food and service was excellent.

Romantic night

A little off the beat and path which was wonderful. My boyfriend and I only had the overnight and this was perfect. We arrived early and they let us put our suitcases in a spare room while we waited for our room to be ready. The front desk even recommended where to take the best picture of the Matterhorn. The location didn’t disappoint. We had a room with the balcony and a few of the mountains. Truly beautiful.

The only concern was the show-water was not hot enough which might be all customers are showing at same time? Except that, all others are very good. Good location!

This was our third stay at the Butterfly and we obviously really like it. Great location. Short walk from train station and restaurants/shopping. Cozy rooms. Great food (including free breakfast and tea time). The perfect place to unwind with a glass of wine or coffee after a day hiking or on the slopes. We were happy to see many familiar faces on the staff, though there was a new bartender who didn't seem to like her job very much. She wasn't a fan of waiting on people and seemed to want to go home early each night. But aside from that another perfect stay.

We took an overnight trip from Zurich to Zermatt, so we prioritized proximity to the train station. The Butterfly turned out to be much more than just convenient to the train station and the main commercial area. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The included breakfast was fresh and offered a lot of options. Most importantly, the service was the best we received anywhere over the course of a full week in Switzerland. The front desk was always well-staffed, and the front desk team was friendly and professional. They offered recommendations to fill our time in Zermatt that proved to be perfect. Thanks to the Hotel Butterfly for making our overnight trip to Zermatt a great success!

This property is FANTASTIC. Close to train station(2 blocks). Dinner was GREAT! Breakfast was terrific! Decorated as a Swiss Chalet. I would DEFINITELY RETURN!

Loved our stay, the room and amenities were better than expected (and so spacious compared to our previous 4 nights in Paris), the staff were friendly and helpful, great location, highly recommend!

Great location

I tried to book a massage because there were fliers in the hotel that said massage was available. The lady working the reception desk acted offended by my request, but said she'd call the massage person to see if they could do a massage. She didn't call while I was there and she didn't ask for my room number or give me any idea how she would get in touch with me. Two days later I checked in to see if the massage got booked and they said there was no massage available. I could have booked a massage somewhere else if they had told me in a timely manner. Two days should be enough time to book a massage or know it's not possible. The windows in the room looked like they had mildew or mold all around them. The restaurant was great and so was the restaurant staff. The hotel gave us free drinks in exchange for us not requesting new towels - very eco conscious. The room was comfortable and centrally located.
