Very friendly and professional staff. Location was perfect for the centre of Nice. Room was warm and cleaned daily. Balcony view over the Xmas market and Massena square was wonderful.
Had a very pleasant 4 night stay in the Aston. Hotel location is fantastic - minutes from the sea-front, the old town and also the main shopping areas. Hotel itself was very clean and staff friendly and helpful. Did find their rooftop Bar was very expensive though - but lots of others in the old town to sample instead! Would recommend as a great venue
Recommended for relaxing stay in a great location.
Third visit to this hotel. Great location, very helpful staff. Rooms comfortable. Good breakfast lots to choose from. Amazing views from rooftop bar.
Great location and good rooftop
We really liked this property except for one thing. The toilet in our bathroom was almost unusable because there was a second unneeded shower in the bathroom. There was virtually no legroom at all.
Excellent Hotel very nice and friendly staff,
Good hotel close to both old town and the bigger shopping area. Great and friendly staff. Rooftop was amazing. Does not have a private beach like Expedia says.
This is not a 4* hotel. When we arrived we were given a room which had blood on the walls, a broken toilet, broken door and a porter who had a key to access all of the rooms and just let himself in. This was part of our honeymoon trip and within minutes I was quite prepared to check out and leave had we been able to get a flight out. We spoke to the front desk who moved our room but it just felt uneasy all the time, the key was the main issue for me. I know the cleaning team have a key but it was the porter just letting himself in which really shocked me. The breakfast was okay as it was included in the price but I wouldn’t have paid extra for it as the choice of hot food was limited. There is major building work happening next door and at the time there was an Ironman event in the gardens opposite so all we could hear was the set up and preparation. It may have been 4* many years ago but it is definitely not now.
Amazing! Great location, great rooms & service, check in super easy
Parking is a disaster , rude receptionists , very noisy , dirty rooms! Total scam it is not a 4 star hotel
Good central location Breakfast was good Bathroom Was so odd - shower so close to the toilet you couldn’t sit on the toilet straight! Pool very disappointing This place doesn’t look like the photos
Room 206. One light in bathroom is out (front right near shower). Makes the sink area & shower pretty dark. Pool on rooftop was exceptional!
Don’t waste your money
I was supposed to be in a premium room but the rooms are very old and lots of mold in the bathroom. It’s very easy and cheap to replace the plastic at the bottom of the shower screens and so many mold removers out there for tiles. This hotel needs to do better with their cleaning and inspecting rooms to see what maintenance is needed. I was there 6 nights and my sheets here not changed once.
Dry good hotel, great location for the old town, and the sea front. Roof top bar and swimming pool excellent. And while the Wi-Fi connected easily and was fast, we were limited to two devices per room. These days we all have multiple devices which we need to use.
Excellent location
The hotel is very convenient for access to the tourist circuit in Nice.
Do not stay in room 617! We have stayed with 3aHotel Group for upwards of 15 years, usually at The Beau Rivage, but within the last 18 months we had noticed a drop in standards there. Being loyal to the 3a group, we thought we would try the Aston la Scala, a sister hotel. Sadly, our stay was marred by 2 occasions of leaking from exceptional torrential rain for the season. This, in itself, was not a problem, but the lack of action, communication and resolution of the issue by the hotel was very bad. The room clearly had a problem and, we believe, had suffered these issues previously, yet the hotel continue to let it. Room change was suggested, but when we asked to see a room, it went silent. Technicians came and said he would get equipment. He never came back. We refused to pack to enable the hotel to move us while out. We were not happy to do that. No one gave alternative plans. A housemaid arrived chirpy and said we were moving. No. They cleaned around the damp rug. I had to roll up and remove it myself, they clearly did not intend to. We went out as we were told technicians needed to come in and fix. When we returned it was evident no one had been in, yet we were told it had been fixed. Lying to paying guests is inexcusable. When it rained later in week, same problem occurred. Again room change was suggested, but we were due to an arranged day out, had no time to pack and were leaving the day after. We gained impression all staff knew the room was prone to the issue.
Great location to explore Nice, 2 minute walk and your in the centre. Staff friendlu and helpful and good breakfast, but was one of the noisiest hotels i've stayed in sadly.
5days in Nice
Very good location at a reasonable price, a little worn in places but still comfortable with great views from rooftop bar with pool.
Really good location and the roof top pool and bar are great but the hotel rooms need a bit of an upgrade having only an all in one shampoo for soap isn’t great the hairdryer looked like it was from the 80s and the aircon barely worked. Lovely staff but definitely not the greatest amenities
2nd time here and loved it!
Lovely hotel close to Nice old town and sea front. Easy walk to tram stop for access to station. Our room was at the front overlooking the park and old town. Although Road out front is busy didn’t notice any significant noise.
I love this Hotel. The staff is amazing Catherine , Joana and Alex are superb ! The location is excellent close to place Messina . Shopping and the lovely old town . The rooftop pool and bar are spectacular. You you feel proud that you picked this hotel I will only stay here at The Aston !!
Room is not clean, had a broken/leaking sink, took a while to fix it, broken air conditioning, had to sleep a lid portable fan that was provided by hotel, mosquitoes in the room. Manager promised to change the room for second day and transfer our luggage while we were out as the room wasn’t ready but that didn’t happen as we had to wait for the front desk person (Jerome) to give us room when we returned in the night and then we had to move our luggage from the broken room to the new room. Jerome is very helpful and he is the reason I rated it as poor. Otherwise the rating is “Terrible “ Manager offered to discount the price at check out but that was not the case. Overall very disappointing.
Was ok but expected more for the money
We booked this hotel for the pool, busy day exploring and go sit by the pool to catch the last of the sun. Nope. The pool is only open 10-5 seasonally. The room is clean but also not, the basics are cleaned. Location however was amazing.
This hotel was a great find. Well located only a 5 minute walk from the town and amenities. It was clean, comfortable and the staff were super friendly, especially on reception and in the restaurant for breakfast. We loved the roof top terrace although the drinks were a little pricey but all in all we would highly recommend.
Pictures online are very deceiving. Bathrooms very dirty. Staff friendly.
Service was poor, after travelling for hours and waiting on our room we discovered the shower thermostat wasn't working. It was constantly dangerously hot so couldnt be used. Reported it twice that day with a response that someone would look at it. Nothing done, reported it the next morning a technician eventually came run it for 30 seconds and said he had to go back to reception, when he didn't return we went to reception and asked for a status, they said it was fine! If the technician had run it for 30 seconds longer he would have discovered the issue. They eventually put us in another room only 36 hours later. Really frustrating and reception staff werent very sympathetic. Also the pool shuts at 5pm and you are asked to leave. Definitely wouldn't stay again.
Great location with great restaurants nearby. Everything is walkable from here and the staff was kind enough to give us a voucher for the rooftop bar for drinks. The room was clean and modern as well! Great stay
Great hotel, highly recommend.. perfect location and will book again.
Hotel is old and falling apart. Restaurant menu is tasty but limited in choices. Staff are helpful and caring but truly limited by what they can do to help alleviate the hotel situation. Beautiful roof top bar and pool with a generous tapas/ cocktail menu- in the evening. The pool bar and rooftop drinks menu cost double of the normal restaurant menu. The pool is very small and cramped - only 7 loungers available around pool but many little stools and further loungers next to the rooftop bar. Not very children friendly - hotel is mostly full of middle aged and older patrons. Very good breakfast and value for money if booked beforehand. Sold as a 4star but really state of the rooms, amenities and cleanliness is at best a 3*. Hotel badly needs a renovation or some serious TLC and restaurant menu a revamp.
Nice hotel in a great area.
This hotel is in a great location. Easy walking to old town and the beach. Main complaint was that the pool closes each day at 5pm which made it hard to utilize it. Breakfast was good, and the room was great. The best part of this hotel though is the staff. Everyone went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. We had a lovely time in Nice and the air conditioning was great to come back to at the end of a hot day!
I would not say the property was a 4 star. Our room was tiny. Lights were not working and there was mould in the shower. The pool was tiny and full of people. Rooftop bar had great views but was very expensive. Hotel very overpriced for what it was.
I had an excellent view of the Promenade from my room. The views from the rooftop bar are exquisite. This location is excellent and close to pretty much everything in Nice. Lastly I really enjoyed the breakfast
Hotel for the Tour!
Excellent location. Lobby a little bit dated but room was very comfortable. The gym is a bit small. Hotel offered a rooftop dinner for the 200th anniversary of the Promenade and the Tour de France. It was very enjoyable with great view for the fireworks and drone show.
Very conveniently located to things do in Nice.
Well located and lovely hotel
Hotel close to old town, beach front and transport links. We stayed in room with balcony which I would definitely recommend. Hotel staff were very helpful and service was excellent. Rooftop pool and bar lovely, although drinks expensive. Overall a fabulous stay
Hair dryer was terrible asked for a different one three days running and none supplied . If you stay here take your own but not good for a four star hotel . Pool not nice but location great
Lacks cleanliness
Lovely area to stay ❤️, but the swimming pool close at MP.
Great location and great at catering for people with gluten requirements
Second time I stayed there room was small but great position staff are helpful
The property is very central
Very nice hotel, close to city centers, easy walking to dining, shopping and beach, felt very safe.
Great location but hotel is dated and shabby.
Great location but hotel condition in general is shabby, beds were poor. Pool on roof closes at 5pm, cannot understand why. Would have been nice to use it after a day in town or at the beach. Booked a standard room which was really small with a wall for a view. Upgraded to a bigger room which was a good size but two days into our stay an extra bed arrived which reduced the space significantly. Advised it could not be removed but I would not be charged the upgrade, I was still asked for upgrade charge when booking out, person who agreed to waive charge made no note of same, eventually got it off bill.
Excellent all round - thank you
The room was very nice, but we booked for the pool and gym. The pool water was a sickly green color and was out of order for the entirety of our stay. The gym was cramped and crowded with people, and not usable for us. They seemed to be perhaps remodeling, as there was random furniture and supplies scattered about the lobby area. The beach was a short walk, and the partnered beach club was very nice, although on the pricey side for access. The staff were courteous and easy to communicate with.
Great location. Lovely staff. Bathrooms floors get wet during shower but otherwise nice room
Vacance en famille
Un hôtel très bien localisé à proximité des principaux attraction touristiques et de la plage. Le petit déjeuner a beaucoup de choix varié et en abondance. La chambre est très propre, un lit très confortable et le service à l’accueil est excellent.
Good clean spacious room. Excellent reception staff. Breakfast could be improved: items running out crowded and cramped space poor selection of pastries.
Pool not in operation on day of arrival due to filters not working. Offered no compensation for this when I asked at reception, just told you can use it tomorrow. We will see. Room terrible noisy as right next to lifts so could hear lift going up and down all night so had no sleep. Not a very satisfactory stay.
.
Worse than awful.
Awful stay, room was very underwhelming, stained cracked tiled floor, overbearing smell of fresh paint to the point of affecting my sinuses, awful cheap furniture and stained mattresses - without mattress protectors!!!!! Gross! Missing safe and fridge on arrival. Oh yeah and a BEEP every 60 seconds in the room apparently from the pool cleaning machine above that nobody was able to do anything about! I could move rooms but not be refunded the difference. Not 4 star. Over priced. Dirty rooms. FYI unless you’re into torture do not accept a stay in room 623. Roof top bar so overpriced and beware of the dirty pigeons we witnessed on bread baskets being served to people…..
The location of this property is excellent. Right on edge of old town and 5 mins to beach. Roof top bar is a fabulous spot.
Room was smaller than previous even though it was meant to be either the same grade or higher than previous stay
Close proximity to everything
Great location
Hotel is in a walkable location , great views from the roof.
Be careful!!! Bed bugs! Also my sheets weren’t clean, there was mold in the shower and by the toilet because of poor bathroom design it floods completely. The sink was broken and the water was slimy coming from the sink. I would wash my hands and they would have a coat of slimy residue on it. Please do not book here!
Terrible staff
It’s nice in Nice
Great location, in between the 2 popular areas and close to the beach. Tram across the road and great rooftop pool with seating area and bar.
excellent
Room could have been a bit bigger, we’d booked a deluxe room and I felt it was too small and cramped to be described as such. Otherwise, all good. Enjoyed the stay very much.
Great location Great breakfast
Great location for seeing Nice
Stayed for 4 nights. The location is great. Easy to get to the beach and the old town. Staff are very polite. The view from the rooftop bar is great.
The hotel itself is in a good position and neat and tidy. From checkin staff are friendly but vague about when room will be ready, had to keep asking and being told they will check then never come back. The pool is tiny and not full of water, a bit strange. Pool bar staff never offered a drink or the menu for 35 minutes until I got up to ask. The shower in the room was dirty like they hadn’t wiped down the walls with streaks of shampoo or other cream on them. The 2 single beds pushed together to make one bed left a small gap and pushed apart during the night. In the morning the housekeeping staff woke me knocking then walked away saying sorry. This happened 4 times in an hour. The bathroom smelt like sewerage. Lots of roadworks happening outside so very noisy if you’re needing a rest from a long flight.
Nice place
It's a beautiful hotel within walking distance to restaurants, beaches, and shopping centers. However, I was concerned about the maintenance in the bedrooms, particularly the bathrooms, as housekeeping needs to be more thorough. I was glad they provided me an upgrade and feel comfortable. The gentleman who helped with our luggage was amazing and provided excellent service.
Room was very confortable and clean but noisy due to the restaurant below. There also was a smell in the bath room that stayed the whole time.
Great service.
The best thing about this property is the location and the access to amenities.
Excellent location close to old town and station. Beautiful roof terrace with great views. Comfortable room with tasty breakfast included. Reception staff helpful and polite. Swimming pool was not open in early May. Size of pool a disappointment. Bar staff seemed a little slow at times. One evening we ordered coffees on the terrace. The next evening no coffee was available as summer rules dictated no coffee was allowed!!!
.
Good
Room was spacious by European standards, bed was comfortable and automatic shades made it very dark and quiet for sleeping. Easy to walk to all the main attractions of Nice, and I felt safe walking alone at all hours in this area. Would happily stay again.
Good location, nice place
Overall nice hotel, friendly staff, breakfast was excellent. Only issue we had was the bath plug was broken when we arrived with a pool of water left in the bath. We had to ask twice for it to be fixed....other than that very nice stay
We had a couple of problems with our room but the staff were great a gave us a new room. The area is fantastic. The Hotel has a lot to offer
I love this hotel! Brilliant location, fab breakfast, but best of all are the magnificent staff, who will always go the extra mile to help. Special thanks to Catherine the Deputy Manager for her kindness
No on-site parking was very inconvenient And no place to park in front of the hotel for checking in and out
Good location
Good hotel in great location. Was quite noisy from the road and the construction noise next door and too stuffy to keep windows closed and no AC in April. Party in hotel was extremely noisy. Some parts are a little tired and the drinks are double price which made me not want to enjoy a drink there. Staff were excellent and friendly.
Good
The room was next to the lifts, which made an audible mechanical noise. The blinders were not flexible, making it impossible to keep the room dark early in the morning. On the other hand, I liked the central location.
So close to everything! Great breakfast included!
Great short break
I really enjoyed my short stay at the Hotel Aston La Scala. The hotel has a perfect position, close to everything, easily accessable from the tram. I received a very warm welcome from the reception team, had an immaculate and well appointed room overlooking the gardens/fountains. I enjoyed a drink on the terrace in the Moon Bar, and the breakfast was really enjoyable and set me up for the day. Everyone I came into contact with at the hotel was courteous and friendly and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again in the future.
Very comfortable, would definitely stay again.
Great hotel in a central location, with a fantastic breakfast buffet.
Location was good. You could walk to areas easily. Hotel was lacking. Some rooms in disrepair. Rooms more like a 3 star hotel. However they were clean. It was very noisy outside at night. Staff did not seem knowledgeable and not very accommodating. It could be a language problem.
Great hotel but some things must be improved
Firstly I’d like to say that the hotel location, staff, roof top pool and breakfast was amazing! However there are a few things I would love to see improved: 1) the air conditioning is limited and not very effective. I saw other reviews with similar feedback and heard another guest complaining of the same issue to reception. 2) the decor is in deep need of investment. Our room had a chipped floor tile, deep/large scuff marks on the walls, poorly patch painted areas and small wooden wedges in cupboards and the headboard to prevent noises/movement 3) the bed sheets were not fitted sheets and easily came untucked meaning in the night my partner and I were often laying on the beat mattress. 4) rooming servicing schedule seemed to random. One day we had to ask for the room to be cleaned and fresh towels/toiletries even though we did not have the do not disturb sign up 5) the towels were poor quality and frayed Again I want to mention that the staff, breakfast, roof top pool and location are absolutely amazing and I feel if the things I mentioned are addressed then this hotel would be a 10/10
Go to Nice but don't stay at the Aston
Nice is well worth the visit, the hotel has lots of character and is in a great location. Unfortunately, the building is in need of some serious maintenance. We had a 3 night stay with a different room each night due to various problems. Including but not limited to; stuffy rooms with no air-con, faulty/missing shutters/blinds, missing bath plug, flickering lights, dirty cups, windows screwed shut, faulty soap dispenser, broken electrical fixtures, mouldy walls and water running down the walls. The staff tried their best to sort out the issues but they can only work with the resources available. I feel this hotel falls well short of a 4-star rating.
Great hotel
Excellent location, great service from all the staff, good breakfast. Lovely bar on the top of the hotel with mini swimming pool. We have thoroughly enjoed our short visit (2 nights). Some reflective feedback: The shower in the triple room bathroom is definitely not required as it hogs the whole space in the bathroom and the use of the toilet is impacted. The rooftop bar has some amazing views, but lacks a little bit more cosiness in the evening.
Beautiful hotel
Had a lovely stay here. Very nice hotel. The only problem I had was having to move rooms after night one of a three night stay, which was very inconvenient. However, would still recommend a stay here and would come back.
Very nice hotel, newly renovated , excellent location, very devoted and friendly service... RECOMMENDED!
Very enjoyable stay. Great location. Very amicable and helpful staff.
Excellent location, lovely room with great view, reception staff are all very welcoming and helpful.
Ideal
The hotel was beautiful!! It was in a great location!! The staff was very kind and helpful!! Breakfast was delicious, with so many options!! And the rooftop bar and restaurant was amazing. The view was breathtaking!! I hope I can get back to Nice, and will definitely stay there!!!
RWC vacation
Very friendly and efficient staff. Roof top bar and pool a real gem. Excellent breakfast choice. A great location for the beach restaurants and bars
Excellent location and very nice property. The staffs are very helpful and polite. We enjoyed our stays for 4 nights. Love it.
RF
Service amazing, good location, roof top bar very good with an amazing view, ashamed about the cleanliness in the rooms, 1st room was dusty and there was 3 pair of socks from previous people left in the desk draw. 2nd room, a suite, in the bath there was the black ring from previous that has not been cleaned, sink with dry toothpaste, dusty floor throughout the place.
Superb location in the Old Town with a bar and pool on the top of the building. Rooms comfortable with coffee making facilities. Staff friendly and helpful. However, it was surprising that a hotel with international guests only have TV in the French language. Also, unable to obtain anything to eat outside of the hotel's restaurant main opening hours. Once again, surprising for a 4 star hotel.

Great location, friendly staff and calm atmosphere
