Great location. Friendly staff. Nice view from pool. Facilities were average to below average. Gym is in definite need of an upgrade.

Everything was good and the pool was warm close to the beach

An older property, which is nice cause the rooms are bigger. Nice and helpful staff. We arrived around lunch, were not able to check in, but the hotel did keep our luggage so we could walk around. Welcome drinks were a treat. The cons are the pool being on the shaded side of the hotel. Overall, good experience at the hotel, did not enjoy the beach, too many vendors all looking for your business, same on the street, we later found Castillogrande beach, and would recommend that area if you want some peace and quiet beach time.

This hotel is really good it has an excellent view of rio! I was able to check in early and check out late and that was a huge help and staff was really nice on that. The only think is their furniture on the first floor they are all stained and that does not look good. Area feel safe. The only issue that there are not a lot of dining options. Also you will have to take uber everywhere unless you want to take public transportation. Uber is safe and not expensive.

This was my second time here and i enjoyed it as i did the last time. I find the staff very friendly and helpful and the overall amenities for the price point very good. I especially enjoy the gym which is probably one of the best hotel gyms i've experienced. I also apprecaite the hotel decoration for the holidays. The only critique i would give is that while fully functinonal and comfortable, the rooms could use a revitalized or updated style to keep in league with other hotels on the same price point. Overall i was very pleased with my stay and look forward to my next visit there.

Disappointing stay for the amount of money charged. The rooms are just ok and the AC is faulty (doesn’t cool down the room as much as desired but it’s cool nevertheless).

Good location. Service at the pool is the worst. The servers only serve the girls they find hot. They also play super loud music with nasty lyrics and they forget that there’s kids there listening to those songs. Our bathroom was also poorly cleaned and the shower was full of grime.

Beautiful, clean and amazing view

Excellent place to stay, and the employees are friendly. The hotel has a travel agency which will be convenient for tourists.

Close to beach and beautiful classic hotel

I had a great time at this hotel, staff was attentive, clean, friendly. I felt safe. There were options to eat around the hotel. Taxis are readily available and affordable outside the doors to go to the old city. I would return

Very happy

Every thing was excellent. Minor issues were the bath wouldn’t fill up properly and the toilet seat was broken. Apart from that, all fine.

I didn't get any facility the swimming pool was in bad condition. The internet connection wasn't good

Property location, service,safety and amenities

We stayed one night, and enjoyed our stay, especially with a large room overlooking the ocean with great window line. Property is located in the commercial area, not the old city, but was very convenient for us to get to the pier in the morning for a trip to the islands.

It’s quite rundown but the rooftop jacuzzi is nice. Great location and staff were helpful.

Firs of all I can say the property is new and super clean. Staff is friendly but. There are two problem that accrued 1) pictures are misleading. There are no bathrobes and extra towels in the room although they are on pictures in description. 2) a gym area is super confined and overlooking a breckfest area. There is not enough space to stretch or do yoga. 3) its very poor sound isolation I can hear neighbors till past afer midnight. All and all I have mixed sensations.

Staff was very friendly , the pool isn’t the biggest but it’s good if you want to take a dip in some water . Plenty of restaurants in walking distance is the biggest plus as well

I recommend this hotel. Everything is accessible and at your fingertips. We had an amazing time there.

I liked the decorations inside the lobby, it felt like cheerful welcome! The staff was professional, kind and helpful. The room was a good size and clean. The breakfast buffet was also good. The pool and gym were a little small but were overall nice.

The service is great and food also. The bathroom can use some improvements as far as the bath tub. But everything else was amazing great

The hotel is very well located, right in front of the beach and in safe area bustling with restaurants, cafés, bars and shops. It seems that the building is relatively old but well kept.

Friendly staff, great location

Water in shower & bathtub was freezing even with hot water turned to full capacity so called front desk & maintenance man was able to fix issue. There was a mild odor (like mildew) in room but bearable. Room was otherwise clean and took advantage of gym & breakfast daily. Lots of restaurant options around property!

Great hotel with friendly staff with a 2 minute walk to the beach. Breakfast was great and changed daily. 30 minutes to the airport and 10 minutes from the walled city on taxi. We rented a ocean view room and highly recommend defiantly worth the money. Only negatives are the water pressure is pretty bad on the floor I stayed on 16th floor and the WiFi was super slow. Would def recommend

Cartagena Hotel ALMIRANTE

Our bathroom had black mold in the corners, we reached out to the front desk and the cleaning person informed us that they have other complaints about the person assigned to that area. The faucet in the bathroom sink needed cleaning of the filter so we could get good water pressure but they couldn’t figure it out. We had a water leak and condensation from an air vent in the room. We requested a price adjustment they offered us a different room, but not available until two nights before the end of our trip, my elderly mother didn’t want to pack and unpack again. I tried to talk to a manager but all I could get is a customer representative unable to do anything to solve the problem or adjust the price, they offered us free dinner which we politely declined. Cartagena was overall underwhelming and the stay at ALMIRANTE is what we enjoyed the least.

Staff were nice and helpful. Breakfast was great. Location was safe and lots of eating options and supermarket a corner away for purchase of water, alcohol, snacks, and goodies to bring back home.

Staff is friendly. Hotel is a bit dated. We did not get the room until 3, even if available. Lots of people waiting.

We stay in for 5 nights, we realy liked the hotel, food in the Terrasa restaurant was good, but best of all was the service, they will assist you with anything that you ask for or need, difenely a 5 star service

The staff was excellent. They were pleasant and really great. The area is right across from the Hollywood beach and it's safe. Tourist police were always present.

Everything about this hotel is excellent, the staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast was included in our package and was very good with lots of variety to choose from, beautiful interior, will definitely return again

Not really a 5 star hotel. Area around the hotel could use more security. More police. Don’t bother going to the beach- you’ll be swarmed by every local there trying to make a quick buck. I say to everyone order Ubers not yellow cabs. And have them pull right into the hotels front lobby. The food is pretty mid. Friendly staff at least. Attentive. Don’t think I’ll stay here again.

3* hotel

I requested the upgrade! They said they didn’t have a better room. Then the room i was getting was connected to another and I didn’t want. Then, i was offered another room better but I was supposed to pay extra. And I reminded them I have the right to an upgrade. The lady left to talk to someone and finally came and told me I was getting the upgraded because they checked my status with Expedia. The room was bigger but I requested an iron and ironing board and they didn’t have one. I got the iron. The breakfast was terrible food.

Pool deck was nice. Pool wasn’t properly sanitized after someone threw up in pool and no one in pool was asked to get out. Staff were very pleasant. Dj at pool was ridiculously loud.

I had a good experience, my only suggestion they need to upgrade rooms and bathrooms including furnitures, TVs and appliances. I recommend this hotel and friendly staff and always willing to assist you.

The hotel looks nice from the outside but our room had mold in it and blood like stains in different spots. The shower head is not rain fall like, water coming out of a water bottle is faster. Everytime you come out of the hotel there’s people bugging you about tours and attractions. Other than that, staff was very nice and friendly.

By far the worst experience at any hotel I have stayed at. If there was an option for a zero star I would select it without hesitation. The front desk staff are rude, do not care about their customers and fail miserably at making an effort to turn a negative experience into a positive one. Thank you Kevin and Eric for making a mockery of our hotel check-in experience on Nov. 27. Almirante Cartagena has failed to deliver proper customer service to their client. Front desk staff made us waited over an hour to sort out our room check in while making a mockery of the situation. While waiting, the staff did not make an attempt to offer us a glass of water or coffee while waiting. After further escalation, a room became available, the worst room and poorest condition. No one would have wanted to take their shoe off and lay on the beds in the room that was provided. There was dirt on the furniture, hair on the bedding, blood stains on the floor, a complete disappointment to anyone starting their vacation. We managed to get a room by 9 A.M. and were told by the front desk staff, though they knew we traveled all night, that we cannot have breakfast as our reservation doesn't take effect until the following day. I would not wish this experience on my worst enemy.

Overall, this is a well maintained older 5-star hotel. There are many onsite services that you can indulge here without stepping off the property. I really enjoyed the pool area that overlooked the beach and didn't have to put up with the constant hawkers that try to sell you something while on the sand. The hotel's gym and fitness areas are also pretty good for a hotel's gym. The lobby and main floor/entrance areas are quite opulent and during my time there the staff were setting up a nice Christmas decor. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. My only criticism, which didn't really affect my stay, is that the rooms, while clean and well maintained are a little bit out of date as far as style and could use a refresh. I would stay here again If I was in the BocaGrande area of Cartegena. It is a good value for the price considering all the amenities and level of service that can be had there.

Very nice property

It’s pretty good but since my girlfriend was staying with me they would always question her whenever she would leave the hotel and upon returning the security staff needs to be better trained because there was always a problem whenever she would enter the bldg alone

I loved this Hotel. The beach is across the street, the pool is great, with food service everyday. The saunas were amazing. You also have restaurants in front of the Hotel, with huge grocery stores a block away. You have a mini tourist mart that offers great buys. And I loved that you can exchange your dollars to Colombian pesos everyday that I was there. Excellent stay!!!

Pool is on small side, hotel is a little dated, the rooms are average...but the service is horrendous...really unfriendly staff.

This is by far the worst hotel and customer service ever. They don’t respect the status of VIP gold and they also try to scam me. Management could care less … as long as I had paid. Do not recommend to anyone .

The hotel was in a great spot if you want to be in Bocagrande. The room and pool were exactly what we wanted. I had read that most hotel staff in Cartagena spoke English- I think based on our experience, this really pertains to the walled city. Most staff at this establishment knew a little English but were quite happy to use Google Translate with us when needed. We did have a poor experience with a pool staff member - he appeared annoyed when we didn’t understand him and was not receptive to our attempts. But otherwise, our stay was overall great. I would recommend this hotel :)

Wonderful staff, beautiful hotel and very clean!

Ok place but not great. The beach across from the property is not a beach but a construction site. Lots of construction and noise in the morning but the breakfast is pretty good most days.

Excellent Hotel!

I loved the whole hotel, staff, the service we were provided and the easy access to a lot of convenient places and things to do. The area provides some help to a lot of things for us, my wife wasn’t feeling well and we got help from local doctors and pharmacist but I didn’t like more of the area since it was a tourist area and I felt like “the biggest” tourist there because I couldn’t enjoy most of the day without people coming up to me and my wife in the middle of everything we did. The locals kept being persistent in their approach to me especially since they knew and could smell the “foreigner” in me from miles away. I definitely will be back again because of how the hotel and everything else was but I’m definitely hesitant because of that experience for both of us.

The resort was clean. The staff wouldn't serve me because I spoke English. They waited for the person that spoke English to serve me, even when I ordered in Spanish. You couldn't walk out of the resort without being harassed by people trying to sell you stuff. I was physically assaulted by someone trying to give me a massage. I booked an excursion through the hotel that was supposed to be an all day all inclusive that I ended up paying triple for and the hotel and travel group told me they provided the experience they said I paid for. The bar staff was nice, but I'll never stay here again. I wish I could get my money back for the whole trip.
