didn't like poor food choices for evening meals

The property is excellent for families with kids. Spacious room, excellent service and great food! You can find kids friendly facilities everywhere. Moreover, Butler Service is awesome. The butler provides prompt responses, demonstrates high efficiency, and is always willing to fulfill requests. An exceptional service experience!

It’s was really nice stay. But there’s no other restaurant to eat and you need to cross the road if you would like to swim in the sea. I would love to come back one day

Great Stay

Great stay over 5 nights. Kids loved the pool and hot tub. Room and amenities were just what we needed. Check in had a slight bump when the hotel had a differing record as compared to what we booked on Hotels.com. Was resolved pretty quickly though. Also, after day 2, the hotel provided one child’s breakfast for free instead of making us pay for that fifth person (with the other four of us free) - since we were staying for 5 nights.

This is a excellent place to stay, breakfast is great. Staffs of the hotel is friendly and helpful. I will stay in this hotel again in Santa.

The hotel is in a need of a major refurbishment, the room and public areas are worn. Good location close ti the sea.

OK for stay and going around

Location is average in Sanya Bay. Close to the airport and taxi fare is not high. Quite a distance to city centre but bus routes are convenient and cheap. Watch out for bus services as some routes close early at around 7pm and some routes do not go beyond to hotel's area after 4pm. Hotel is a bit old but still clean and comfortable. Pool is good. The beach outside is beyond our expectation. It was small and no water activities suitable. Food provided by the hotel is average but price is reasonable. Hotel's website mentioned about Spa and massage services but there were none! Hotel staff told the Spa centre was closed last year! Very disappointed.

A nice stay

Hotel locates at quiet area with a nice beach. Can see sun rise and sun set on the beach. There is bus stops right outside the hotel. Buses go to the downtown or some travel spots. Hotel have a good swimming pool and have some quiet small areas which provide adults having relaxing rest. Good buffet breakfast. The hotpot and seafood buffet dinner is fair with not so fresh seafood.

Good for relaxing and beach access

The hotel is a good place to relax by the pool and go to the beach. It is not in the heart of the action and restaurants are limited. It is about, because of traffic, 20-30 minutes by taxi to the action. So, if you are looking to be in the busy activities stay closer to Phoenix Island or Yalong Beach. But, If you are looking to relax in a quiet atmosphere with a nice pool then this hotel is great.

Can be better in such price!

Provided only one shuttle bus to city once a day. No service on the private beach. Tap water taste strange.

Nice installations, awful service

1. Breakfast could be largely improved by serving some things warm instead of cold as well as replacing things that run out. Only Roy helped us get more coffee or tried to accommodate basic requests. 2. First floor coffee. It's never open on time (9.30) and it never has any of the items on the menu available, which are just some of the items available for breakfast downstairs. Even when there's a sign that says this opens at 9.30, none of the food is available until after 11 am and nobody can explain why or when it will open. 3. Restaurant (Southern Hill). Some waitresses would tell us something isn't available and others would tell us the opposite. They cannot answer anything about how many pieces come in one serving, they don't check for water refills and they bring dishes/dessert without the necessary utensils (example: banana split with no spoons). 4. Wifi doesn't work anywhere but inside the rooms, it works in the lobby and outside 15% of the time with very weak signal. 5. Receptionists don't pick up the phone often and when they do, they can connect you with up to three different people to attempt to understand the most basic English which makes you end up speaking Mandarin for their convenience. Good luck if you aren't fuent. 6. There are kids peeing inside the pool (older than 8-10 years old) very visibly (standing on the stairs) as well as adults hawking from inside the pool to the pool deck.

Perfect place to relax

I arrived about 2 hours before normal check-in time. The reception was busy with people checking out, but when it came to my turn they checked me in early without any problem. The swimming pools are huge and I especially like the two smaller swimming pools slightly above the big one: nice little havens of tranquility. And if they're too busy, just cross the street to get to the beach! My only issue would be the food which wasn't great, but as far as I've seen it's the same all around China. All in all, it was the perfect place to relax for a few days.

Great for young kids

I'm a westerner living on the mainland and took my children here while my husband had to work. We had a great time. The pool is brilliant for kids. There are large shallow areas that are very safe. We didn't leave the pool. The room was clean, yes a little tired but comfortable. The breakfasts were good. The downsides: the corridors smelt a bit damp and the western food choices were poor (though on our last day they were revealing a new menu) , you have to hire rubber rings etc. but that really is it. I read some reviews which were quite rude about Chinese people staying at the hotel. Our experience was very positive. Nice, friendly families having a fun break with their kids. Overall a very good choice for the price.

Great Hotel and Location for exitings

It was a great holidays at this hotel and sea view...

Great holiday location

My husband and I spent six days at this Resort after spending three days in Hong Kong. It was so lovely to relaxafter quite a hectic three days. Only draw back on arrival late evening was the taxi drivers at the international airport couldn,t communicate in English and we are not Chinese literate. It would be more beneficial also for the hotel is have their name, in Chinese as well, on all their future booking confirmations. Other than that, we have absolutely no complaints. The staff couldn't be friendlier. The bus trip to Sanya town is frequent right outside the hotel. The beach is superb and the pool is huge with an excellent wading pool for the youngsters. My recommendation for a family stay as well.

HAINAN AND SAYNA. ..CHINA'S HAWAII !!!

HOLIDAY INN SANYA IS FIVE STAR HOTEL. however, it is so large it is hard to leave without getting a TAXI. (admittedly im not a spring chicken athletically any more!) Not a place to pot next door to get a burger for sure...as there are no business within easy walking distance... and the in~house restaurants.. are a little price for my way of travel !! Staff was lovely and bent over backwards to accommodate any request!!! This was my last Stop on a two week vacation in china..so I could have been a little drained on enthusiasm !! Even though the HOTEL has huge pool complex. the Beach is not very far at all with miles of open sandy BEACH TO ENJOY!

Great place to relax

The hotel is situated on a quiet beach in Sanya Bay. It has a great pool area, with the pool large enough to accommodate many swimmers. Across a not so busy street is an excellent beach that stretches for kilometers in both directions. Compared to other areas in Sanya, the hotel was in a much quieter area, so one does not have to worry about crowds, especially in the beach area. The food was good, although prices for some items like snacks was very pricey!

Very pleasant hotel close to the beach

Had a good stay - it was very pleasant. Good choice of food for breakfast, but did find the mattress on the bed very hard! However, they are all like that throughout China!

Beware

I searched a long time before choosing this hotel. Although it comes at a reasonable rate, there was no before hand knowledge that it is directly across from the airport and so your stay at the resort will be accompanied by the sound of 747's taking off at all hours of the day/night. If the price is attractive to you, make sure you pay a little more for the "sea" view, as the "mountain" view is really the airport view. Also, make sure you book the room with the breakfast included. The hotel is far from any other options to eat and the breakfast is a quite expensive. Not a bad budget hotel, but far from the Holiday Inn quality that you may expect. Also, they serve shark fin soup for CNY, corporate responsibility anyone?

Rainy weekend

Hotel overall was good, although a bit old. We were upgraded to pool-view room which was supposed to be a smoking room but there were no smells, surprisingly. Hotel staff were generally friendly and helpful. Areas of improvement: only 1 shuttle bus per day to downtown which creates mad rush with guests esp on weekends (peak period). Extra guest bed we paid for was soft/saggy and uncomfortable. Could do with a firmer mattress or spring/wood base!

Unfortunatey cannot recommend....

I have been there twice in the past but this time felt it has become shabby. We had a leak at the toilet pan for 4 days that no one managed to fix properly plus overall the bathroom smelled of urine. Min-Bar fridge barely cold. Lights not working properly in the room. Breakfast buffet although international was unimaginative and felt like cheap food and all hot items were always luke warm to cold so unedible. Staff were smiley enough but all in all seemed like just going through the motions and nothing laid on at nights in the way of enterainment or special dining which you need when you are in Sanya Bay as no nightlife out on the streets. Something special to cater to their guests would have been pleasing. Would not go back there again.

Took more than 1 hour to check in although the hotel was not busy at all, due to the fact that they cant find my reservation, although I have printed document to proof my booking. Receptionist subsequently called Hotels.com number to sort it out. Not sure whose fault it was but receptionist (Lisa) handled it very professionally. Great experience and memorable. Look forward to going back to this place again

A good hotel for Westerners

This review is mostly of interest to Westerners staying in Sanya. As a Western chain, this hotel does strive to provide a more Western atmosphere. The front desk staff speak good English and are very helpful. The cafe (we didn't try the Chinese restaurant) has Westernized food selections (for the most part), their breakfast buffet is very good and includes many Western-style choices. At the time we stayed there, most of the clientele were either Chinese or Russian. Our only "not good" item was the actual construction of the bathroom: why do so many Chinese hotel bathrooms have big glass windows in them? Westerners like some privacy in the bathroom, so discovering that almost the entire external wall of the bathroom was glass was unpleasant and required us to try to cover it with towels.

Great hotel for "relaxation"

Since this was off-season in Sanya, there were some areas of the hotel which were closed. The restaurants were "OK" but could have seen improvement altho the staff was eager to please. The location is rather "out of the way" and takes a little effort to get to town or a super market. This hotel (right next to the beach) is great for "relaxation" and is really recommended if that is what you are looking for.

Nice beach property, close to airport

Staff a bit cold toward western travelers but overall polite and helpful. That said, we stayed one night at Howard Johnson's Resort just down the road and found it to be much better and the staff friendlier and more helpful to western travelers.

Pleasant stay had by all

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Sanya bay for 3 nights. We had a sea view room, which had a pretty impressive view of the bay. The room and hotel in general was clean. The pool was really big, with lots of seperate secluded bits if you fancied a bit more privacy. The beach is literally accross the road (with bar). The food was quite good. The breakfast has a big selection of food including Chinese and Western selections. The only negative was that the pool bar was closed, as it was in such a good location it was quite dissapointing to not be able to use it. Also the prices of the drinks varied depending on which bar at the hotel you went to...

I was upgraded to sea view room which is very nice overlooking the sea. Very convenient location. There is room for improvment in connection with the cleanliness of the room and the toilet.

enjoyed Sanya

really enjoyed my time in Sanya weather a lot better than where I came from...... I did all the tourist things and enjoyed doing them ,,the hotel recommended a taxi guy for me and I used him on 2 consecutive days... he was great ...a hotel manager ([...]) spoke English very well and she was fantastic, calmed me down when I was cursing [...]for not getting me the right room... she made things right and put up with me very well.Breakfast was a decent/good typical buffet that was very over priced.I think Sanya is doing an incredible job of keeping up with itself .. its incredible growth rate.

beautiful hotel

That's one nice pool - order a couple coconuts and chill out :) - while you're there, I also suggest taking a spin on the jet skis at the beach across the street, really nice people running the operation. My only complaint about Sanya was the taxis can be a bit of a rip off - 50 rmb is the going rate to the airport, but for everything else, don't take the first price quoted, and generally, don't request a taxi through the hotel. BTW you can get one taxi driver to take you all over for an entire day for a flat rate of 200 RMB, and if you're lucky (we were) they'll suggest things to do / see.

Nice to stay in Holiday inn Sanya Bay for the beautiful seaview excutive room!! The hotel room is comfortable..the swimming pool is nice too. there is a stunning seaview that are quite impressive. Will stay there next time

A great place to stay in Hainan

My wife and I were very pleasantly surprised that for not knowing what we were doing, things turned out really well. We had a large, clean room, bathroom had separate shower and bath. We had a balcony overlooking the hotel pool and the ocean. The air conditioner worked flawlessly and quietly. A private, uncrowded beach with umbrellas and chairs was just across a small road from the hotel. The pool and hotel grounds were immaculate. The hotel front-desk staff spoke English and were very helpful. Included buffet breakfast was fabulous with a wide variety for both Western and Chinese tastes, supper was not as good, but okay. Minor quibbles: 1) The bed was more firm than we were used to. 2) there was a bit of mold in one part of the shower. We could not have been happier with our hotel selection. We stayed 4 nights, so feel we got a pretty good look at the place. This hotel is reasonably close to the airport, but dont think you need to be far away from the airport for it to be good. We would not hesitate to return, we feel we got excellent value for the money and truly enjoyed our stay.

Nice to spend a good weekend

空调开阳台门就无法启动，出现几次这样的情况，早上要求来处理，下午了都没来，其他的都还行。

I reserved 4 days for this trip. I arrived on February 26, and I want to cancel 27 reservation only because I was invited by my friend go to another place. But the hotel manager said he can't change. If I changed, I must go back your hotel.com. System. I don't know that is your rules or they're excuse? Eventually, I paid 700RMB but I don't use.

非常糟糕的酒店，差得不能再差了！a worst hotel in IHG

这并非第一次入住Holiday Inn, 但是是我注册完会员后的第一次入住，因为是其他网站的会员积分换的一晚酒店，所以并没有在IHG上面预订。但是遇到了我这么多次旅行中最烂的一间酒店。虽然酒店的硬件上各方面都很好，包括环境 装修 房间 清洁度，但是服务确实糟糕到不能再糟糕. 首先是前台check-in，礼宾部很及时的帮我拿了行李，放到一条队伍上让我等候排队，期间我前面只有一个顾客在办理入住手续，我后面并无其他顾客等候。当轮到我的时候，工作人员告知我并非精英会员不可以排这条队，但我说是礼宾部引导我排这里的，而且行李也都放在这边了后面也都没有人可否在这边办理，但是工作人员非常坚决的反对，要求我一定要换隔壁的柜台，于是我只能带着一堆行李去旁边的柜台。 其次是大堂吧，我在大堂吧消费了2次，给我的经历就是10台左右的顾客，但是只有2个工作人员，一杯咖啡需要等超过半个小时，而且刷完卡之后，签账单掉地上了，工作人员看到但是就直接走了。 然后最糟糕的就是岭南中餐厅了，当晚进去的时候，工作人员A告知没位置了，需要等，但是我进去了发现有一张空台没人坐，一张台还没有收拾。我发现有空台后，工作人员B告诉我可以坐下，坐下后另一个工作人员C告诉我这张台不可以坐，我问为什么，他说就是不可以坐，然后B说可以坐外面的台，但是坐下之后发现没有等，然后当班经理进来告诉我们外面不能坐没有灯（但是我们吃到一半的时候发现外面是有灯的而且有人在那里坐着，并非经理说的没灯）.然后经理要求我们在门口等要等他们收拾好桌子再进去，这一收拾就15分钟以上，后来发现里面只有9张台的顾客，但是超过了9个工作人员，只有一个是真正在做事的，其他都在假装很忙，端着东西从厨房出出进进但是基本没人留守大厅。经理告知用餐需要等40分钟，但是进去发现根本没有完全坐满，很难想象为什么要等这么久。其中对面桌子收拾台面的那个人每次就收拾一两样东西进去，收拾了好多次才收拾完。上菜也是非常糟糕，我么点了双人套餐，等上菜了还没上碗具，催了两次才上了水壶，菜单是茶两位，其实是白开水而已。闷鸭锅里面全都是骨头，基本没有肉。就算吃完饭都还没有摆好餐垫。要求买单的时候，发现整个餐厅没有一个工作人员，要叫了很久才有人出来。然后旁边的一桌俄罗斯家庭，点了几个炒饭跟汉堡估计等了超过半小时都还没好，已经非常愤怒，要求餐厅送他几瓶啤酒当赔罪。另一边的华裔家庭，比我们早进来，等到我们吃完他们还没上齐菜，只上了两个炒饭，他们已经非常愤怒不想吃剩下还没上的饭菜了。然而对面比我们迟来的一对夫妇，由于点了价格贵的龙虾套餐，上菜速度非常的快，在我们吃完都上齐了，而华裔家庭才上了一半的菜。这种服务态度别说三星酒店，连外面的大排档都比你们的好！！！

무난했습니다 중국호텔은 저렴해서 좋은데 급하게 예약하느라 가격이 쫌 든거 같습니다 그래도 전반적으로 문제는 없었습니다
