The hotel is in a great location within walking distance of the train station and trams that take you into the centre of Milan. There are plenty of food places in the local area.
The staff were very nice and helpful. No air conditioning in the room made it very hard to sleep at night. It was hot and stuffy.
I like it
Dirty area full of graffiti. Not a great area to walk around in. We won’t go back.
Don't judge the hotel by its neighborhood
Staffs were very friendly, helpful and professional. Hotel is nice. Eventhough the neighborhood looks sketchy, we felt safe walking to and from public transportation. Ioutside surroundings does not match hotel inside...it's overall nice. I lke that it was in walking distance to Pto Girabaldi train station. Easy access to and from MXP airport. #2 tram actoss the street take you directly to The Duomo. :)
Very welcoming to a sleep deprived traveler. I got lost trying to walk in from Porto Garabaldi station (my fault! Went the wrong way!) so I took a taxi from the station. Apparently there’s a walking short cut that takes 4 minutes — ask them for directions!
Well connected to train and tram links, not too far from the city centre
The staff was extremely helpful and the breakfast buffet was beyond a normal hotel breakfast buffet.
Check in and out was helpful and friendly. Very accommodating
Easily accessible supermarket Penny just 2min walk with tram stop no2 to Dormo on doorstep. Hotel is in quiet location and staff were friendly Would highly recommend
Only if you’re desperate
The room smelled of cigarettes, the shower didn’t drain and I had a view of a construction site. Not the best experience.
The hotel is convenient located, the staff is absolutely excellent!
Convenient to train station
Amazing stay for a night. Staff were friendly and breakfast was delicious.
It was a good hotel, near the train station. However the surrounding area is kinda boring.
Good location
Convenient location with heaps of food options in short walking distance as well as convenience stores and a laundromat. Close to a number of tram lines and not too far from the train station. The room was small but functional. The breakfast was a bit bland with limited options but sufficient.
Great property
Great place. Wonderful staff
More than decent.
More than decent Holiday Inn experience. Pricy but what isn't anymore?
Close to Transport links and good service by Hotel team
The rooms are small but nice and clean. 2 trams pass by, which is convenient. Luckily our window faced the inside court not the streets! Breakfast buffet is good and the servers are very kind. All the staff is very friendly and always happy to help. Being close to Garibaldi Station makes it easy to go to Malpensa airport and anywhere else! Thank you!
Even in a Jr. Suite the rooms were very small. The bathrooms even smaller. No washcloths provided as linens and none on property. “King” bed was a Queen at best. The staff were all amazing and attentive.
Buena habitacion buen servicio del sttaf muy buen desayuno diria excelente facil transportacion al Domi...me gusto costo beneficio.
Happy with our stay!
Nice Hotel but a fair bit of walking to see Milan
Lovely visit to Milan, staff on the front desk were very helpful and made some very nice recommendations for the local area. Stayed there with my family, Garibaldi Station is around a 15 minute walk from hotel which was difficult in the heat so we ended up doing a high volume of walking to get around Milan, I have no issues at all with the hotel other than that. We were only there for two nights, breakfast was very nice and the complimentary water was a life saver. The local area was nice and safe.
Clean, great staff. Great location
HOLIDAY INN GIRIBALDI
Breakfast staff were engaging. A good selection of sweet cakes and sweet torten. The rooms aircon does not work and your rooms windows are electromagnetically locked by the front desk to keep thd mosquitos from coming inside.
A very convenient one night stay in Milano
We stayed at the hotel for one night before a flight out of Milano. The hotel is located a few minutes walk from the Garibaldi station. The room was very clean and convenient. Breakfast was also good. Would stay here again.
Bathroom is moldy. Shower water is not hot enough. Draining is blocked in the shower.
Nightmare.
I fell in a tourist trip staying in this property. Many good this is said about this property and location is just untrue. The hotel is old. At night it is impossible to sleep because the rubbing of the whole build is so obvious. At one moment I thought it was an earthquake. I don’t need a fake apology from the hotel or staff. So don’t bother to reply. Good luck to whoever wishes to stay here.
Decent
Had problem with passport. It was valid until middle of October, but was not told by American Airlines until check in that I needed at least 3 month minimum on passport expiration so couldn’t fly to Italy. I explained this to Expedia and Holiday Inn that this was out of my control but they still charged me one night stay charge even though I wasn’t there.
Our room was facing the road where the street car terminal was, and our room was constantly shaking. Also, the air conditioning wasn't enough to make the room comfortable. Staff were great and helpful. Laundry service available across the steet. Minutes from public traniit which was quite cheap for day passes.
Location was easy enough to get to the city by tram and just 10 min by taxi to Centraal Station or a five minute walk to Girabaldi station. There is nothing to do near the hotel but a short tram ride gets you to the main restaurant areas. The hotel sells tram tix at reception. The air conditioning doesn’t go below 24 degrees making it stifling in the room and very hard to get a good nights sleep. The manager was lovely and sent someone to have a look at the air conditioning for us but I think it’s just the way it’s set and there is nothing they can do.
Excellent service. The staff is very helpful.
This is a nice American chain hotel and we expected more as the price was on the high end, the rooms are well appointed, although the cleaning service could improve, the main issues were that the air conditioned was turned off at night to save energy and as it was a hot time it became very annoying, the other issue is that they keep the restaurant closed a very long part of the day following local dinner hours, but we expected them to also follow more American times. Being close to the Garibaldi station is very convenient as there are trains and metro service leaving for various destinations from there. The area has some nice local dining options.
Nice American chain hotel close to Garibaldi station where you can get trains and metro to almost everywhere around and in Italy. The hotel is nice, the staff attentive, although we had a couple of issues like the air conditioned being turned off at night to save energy although we paid a premium for our room and the restaurant not being opened most of the day like local cafes, both last deals are not optional to our belief so will probably look for another hotel next time in Milan.
Parking garage was hard to find. No direct entery from parking gargage to elevator. Difficult getting from parking garage to reception desk. Room was very small. Do not recommend this hotel.
Too small room sizes
Easy go around to major attractions by tram. Close to train station, but when first time arriving, it’s tricky to find the way as you have to go down the tunnel.
Very friendly hotel team
They were very responsive and helped me change the itinerary at last minute. The hotel team was very good to help us get all the information on how to get around.
One of the staff told us we can get the bottle water at the front door , the manager told us we are not supposed to get bottle water not until we are not checking out. He even said to us you took 7 bottles instead of 5 since we are only 5 but I told the guy nobody told us about all of this, he was very rude for looking out to see from head to toe. I feel like we have been discriminated. The bedroom that my sister staying has only 1 towel, no soap or toothpaste. Area around is dirty and smelly
Fine for a few nights but bathroom dated
The room was a good size for a few nights and clean. There was a wardrobe with plenty hangers and plenty work space in the bathroom and room. The lights in front of the room mirror weren't much use. The bathroom was dated and had a bath rather than walk in shower, there were water marks from old leaks but it seemed in working order throughout our stay (changing between shower heads was temperamental). We reported immediately that our safe was not working and reception said that they would get new batteries but this didn't happen during our stay. One lift was out of use for our stay and the other was slow, being on the second floor we mainly used the stairs. The location was great with a tram stop around the corner and the reception desk were able to sell us some single use tickets until we could get a 3 day pass.
We got 2 single bed when my husband and i ordered a queen bed in a smoking room. We got a total opposite. We requested they change us but got a smoking room but we were told it is never a guarantee to have a queens bed!! The bathroom was filthy looks like hasnt had a good clean in a while and also the bed sheets smelt like someone already slept on them. As we were there to sleep 1 night and have already changed room once. However to pay £260 a night!! We expected better quality!! The breakfast was cold buffet. Croissants were not fresh. Only scrambled egg and over cooked sausages. Cold mushrooms and beans. I was very disappointed to say the least. Location was ok near train and trams and metro 4 min walk away. That weekend we had a train stike we found the reception was not at all helpful with givinv us directions of an alternative to get to the airport without paying another 104 euro for a taxi!!! All in all we didnt enjoy the experience.
Convenient location.
It is located in a hood neighborhood. Dorect streetcars take you to the Duomo
The staff was very friendly and the hotel was conveniently located close to the train station.
Glad we only stayed one night… Rooms was ok but bathroom was a let down. It was outdated and not very functional The biggest let down was the front desk staff attitude. They looked down on us and talked to us badly when we asked them questions about taxi and hot water. Also people mentioned about front desk not picking up calls from rooms and that is true For similar price there is much better options
Good and friendly reception
Need better AC but decent room
It was a fine stay except the AC would barely blow. The room was a bit small For a family if 4 but it worked. It was clean just a bit hot. Shower was a bit outdated.
On our first day at the hotel there is no hot water in the shower and the shower head was clogged. We have to call for the service so we can take a shower.
Great service, location and room standard
Great location. The staff were very professional, helpful and friendly. My room was excellent and being close to Isola, with excellent restaurants, plus two stations - Monumentale and Garibaldi, made this the perfect place to be to get to the RHO Fiera. Thank you! Good wifi too!
Breakfast was terrible, nothing was fresh all small flyers over everything. All breads and cookies Was old. When we arrived we find a open ( almost empty)water bottle inside mini bar, we informed the front desk they never refresh the mini bar Not suggest
The location was good, the family room was not great. I book for 3 adults
AWESOME OVERNIGHT STAY
The family room was amazing! Right amount of fun. Could have stayed longer!
Thanks ... I have a notice for a cleaning service to change the towels after cleaning the room.
Staying because of 7 hours overnght for next train
At the last minute, we needed a place to stay in between our train schedule, necessitating arriving late the night at the Holiday Inn Garibaldi and leaving very early the next morning. The hotel staff made it so easy for us and the room was extremely clean.
A Good Bargain
I was not expecting this hotel to be all that great considering what I paid for it, but it surprised me. Very clean and comfortable and within walking distance of Garibaldi (if you aren't lugging heavy bags). Bed had very nice sheets; room was spotless; bathroom was clean and fairly spacious with plenty of hot water and a nice soaking tub. Restaurant wasn't great but ok if you are starving. Bar had a good selection of drinks and snacks.
A nice friendly hotel to stay in that is in a very accessible place due to being right next to the train station. Unfortunately, the restaurant is a little bit pricey but there are plenty of other restaurants in the area to get and get something to eat!
Price matches expectations I really liked it The breakfast was good
This was my first time in Milan. We had expected that this hotel would be nice and clean from seeing pictures online little did we know. My friend and I woke up with bug bites from the bed. The bed was disgusting and it ruined our trip. We were supposed to stay here another night but we decided to check out.
We like this hotel.
We booked a non-smoking room but smelled smoke as soon as we got in the room. Since my kid and my husband have medical condition, we called the front desk. They immediately came to examine the room and changed another room for us. We believe it’s the previous guest who smoked in the non- smoking room. The overall service is good and welcoming. We didn’t have any other issues. If the website could advise people to take a taxi from the train station, it’ll be great since the cost is only 9-10 euro and walking is a little far.
Very clean and ANDREA the Front Receptionist HE HAS BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER Thanks so very much.
Not a nice area.
There is nothing of interest (unless you like graffity ) in the area near the hotel. The hotel is run down. The parking lot is insanely tight (even from an Italian perspective). I booked this hotel because I thought it was close to the city center but I was extremely disappointed.
Close to transportation. Never waited more than 5 minutes on a cab. Would have like a wash/face cloth though. None of the Italian hotels offered them.
Nice hotel not far from Porto Giovanni -- direct tram to Porto Giovanni, Duomo, Castello, etc. Good staff
Milan trip
Location for this hotel is a little bit far from center but using the tram and taxi makes everything seems a short distance. If your driving a van and planning to park your car from the hotel, ask them first if it fits as our car was to high. We end up parking on the street and lucky that nobody busted to steal our gear inside. Overall we are satisfied with our stay. Recommended.
Pleasant venue
Good staff, friendly and listening to any issues with prompt response and resolution, Hotel has easy access to the metro which links with the city. Rooms are spacious and clean, well lights, ceiling to floor windows, bathroom is equally spacious with a bath and choice of showers, good amenities. Breakfast was superb, however a limited choice for dinner as is usually the case in such hotels, there were good restaurants in the vicinity as directed by the reception team. Will be happy to stay again. The cost is perhaps is a bit too high though.
Great Staff
The staff was so welcoming, and so very pleasant , and professional. Thanks for a good stay.
The hotel was kept tidy, the breakfast was sufficient. Never really changed but did the job. The hotel staffs main job was to greet you which they did so all I’m all it was a good stay. The area has many restaurants a short walk away
Nice hotel
Good price good location
it was central enough for all amenities,Down side was the hotel restaurant closed on a sunday
small room, few cable channels, rude concierge, acceptable location
Nice location. Clean modern hotel.staff are willing to help. Very good breakfast. Hotel rooms are extremely small. Prices are over for level if service offered.
Perfect location, friendly staff and perfect rooms. Only slight negative, sometimes you are waiting for more than 10 minutes for someone to be at the bar to serve you but the bar snacks are great and fresh, overall great hotel!
Hotel was ok for a business hotel with the necessary things a business traveler will need.
good business hotel for mico area in milan italy. a bit noisy
Excellent hotel but walk from the station was confusing. Perhaps better instructions on how to get there as it’s not exactly next to the station. Staff and everything else excellent.
Guests are not your priority.
Poor shipping and weather advice. I was hurried at checkout as my partner was in the waiting taxi, and the desk manager stopped making my cash change to sort out something in back with another hotel employee. Didn’t feel very important.
Just an average hotel that shouldn't cost more than $100/night. 3 stars is really stretching it. Bathroom and shower are unacceptable. You should review some of these hotels before giving a rating. Room also facing busy street.
Never again.
Cold reception from staff. Of the 3 staff members I dealt with, one was friendly. They did not offer me a map or offer to help with orientation. Generally cold people with few people skills. The hotel was nice, clean, but remote from the city. The breakfast was 16 duro per day. Nonsense! I would not stay here again.
Standard hotel. Clean and friendly staff. Gym is rather poor and food is average.
This hotel was very nice. It's a basic hotel with nothing extra to it. Certainly nothing fancy. It is decently styled and very clean. The lobby, hallways, and rooms are clean and had no concerns. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They answered all our questions and made us feel very welcomed. It's also a good location. If you are unable to use the metro, it's about a 10 euro taxi ride to the Main Central Station and to the main Duomo area; and about a $16 euro taxi ride to Navigli. Highly recommend.
Hotel
Hotel stated near Garibaldi station but it was not too near. Luckily, the tram to the city was next to the hotel. Other than that, hotel service and room was good and we enjoyed our stay.
Nice hotel close to the metro station. Horrible breakfast though.
Location - a short walking distance to Garibaldi train station, with many restaurants around the hotel. Overall a pleasant stay and very good service. A word of caution: One side of the hotel in on a street that has street car lines. The rumbling of the street cars in the early morning hours is heard and felt at a level that can disturb sleep, especially for rooms on the lower floors on that side.
Nice place, room upgrade, near Isola metro station
4 stars
Nice staff, good breakfast and clean rooms. AC on the weak side and might be automatically turned off in the middle of the night.
Nice Hotel in an interesting area
Great place, great staff, great experience
The title of the review should say it all actually. I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel as it was conveniently located, the rooms were comfy and the staff was great.
mixed opinion o this Holiday Inn
we felt this Holiday inn was quite below the standard of other holiday Inn we have used. relying on a brand can let you down. Fridge door was broken, bathroom was impossi le for two people to move in or out, and location was great once we foun it but Very Very hard to find from Garibalxi station, - We had expected that easy to find from the station - this was main reason we chose this hotel
A Little Away but Not Bad
Wifi was good, tram just outside, breakfast wasn't bad but the same each day, the room was a little small but again not horrible and the hotel was just a few stops from downtown. The one thing preventing me from giving it 5 stars is that our heater was turned off and we were a little cold during our stay in March. We would have liked to warm up the room a little in the early morning.
Nice hotel, good area, perfect for my requirements
Above average
I stayed for a day and the overall experience was good but don't exactly get the value for the money you pay. 15 minutes drive from the main attractions of Milan.
Absolutely wonderful staff and location
The location is absolutely amazing. Not only is it across the street from a laundry facility but the tram stops right in front of the hotel. The staff was amazing and extremely helpful. Fantastic Stay
Awful customer service, less than average hotel
Extremely unaccommodating hotel. Having stayed in Holiday Inn hotels many times over the past few years and being a platinum member of IHG, I will not be staying in one again. Having booked 3 rooms in the hotel for business purposes, I found out a few days after that the trip had to be changed due to the nature of the project. I tried to shorten the stay and was told that I would have to pay the full price. I then tried to simply rearrange the date of the stay and still pay the full price, but was told this was not possible either. On top of this, the rooms were very small and not particularly comfortable. Please do not make my mistake, pay a little bit more and go elsewhere!
Comfy bit remote
Clean with a great air con. ...remote from the center but a tram takes you directly to the center. Breakfast was ok. Beds were very nice. Good overall value.
kobi
Nice hotel in good location
American style hotel with comfortable rooms.
We had 2 separate room, one on the ground floor and one on the 4th floor. Both rooms were clean, comfortable and updated. Rumbling from the trams was very noticeable in the ground floor room and could be heard from the 4th floor rooms. Having the tram stop so close was helpful though. We could not get our 4th floor room to cool down below 74 degrees. The front desk staff was friendly but we were told the driver they had arranged to transport us to the Malpensa airport accepted charge cards, which he did not - which left one person in party to have to run around the airport looking for an ATM.
Great place which I chose to be next door ti the the train station to the airport leaving early the next morning. Excellent staff, nice enough hotel, clean and professional. I would stay there again
