Pleasant stay but not again.
A one night break in london for a special birthday. Very impressed with welcome at Holiday Inn Kensington. Quick check in, door man, concierge and spacious areas. Swimming pool, sauna, steam room and changing room all spotless and beautiful included in room price. Didnt have breakfast as dont like to be on a timetable. Not enough tea/coffee/milk in room. No biscuits. Requested room with a view if possible. Had 6th floor corner with view of backstreet and ugly rooftops. There are no views of london attractions at this hotel. Room was very cramped. Given choice of room with bath/shower, Chose bath and regretted it as bath was tiny and bathroom very small. Safe, hairdryer, iron in room and toiletries included on wall but take your own conditioner and lotion. Constantly got lost in hotel. Good location for tubes. Had a pleasant stay.
My daughter had a fall just before we arrived and the staff we so wonderful. They got her ice, had her settled while we waited for our room. Then they checked in on her each day to ensure she was ok.
The Visit was good.
The room's heating and air conditioning were not working but thankfully the windows could open. I'm not a fan of heat so it served me well. The television is hard to work. There were no terrestrial channels. Eg bbc itv ch4 ch5. The curtains need some updating.
Excellent, helpful and friendly service.
Excellent staff from concierge and check in to breakfast, health club and check out. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, which made the stay so nice. The hotel location is excellent too and we found the comfort of the room to be very good.
A nice stay overall. Disappointing that male.sauna was not open. This was not mentioned even when l called beforehand to ask about use of the sauna
There was a lovely man on the door each day, dressed up welcoming people and giving advice. People were friendly.
Convenient and safe area to walk and enjoy the surroundings . Modern refurbishment looks great !
Property as you would expect for price and location. Would recommend looking for later I’ve location to eat. Two of us ate there I finished my meal before the other arrived and the forgot to provide some of the order. Quite poor!
So first of all the customer Service was good but we have arrived at 12.30 the room was not ready the the lady from reception have said come later so we did so we came back at 16.30 and then it was ready but we have to call many time for the cot bed. Second of all the room was nice but the air conditioning was not working it was hot we did call again 5 time it tool tlong to fix it amd still didnt work so we had bad sleep and had a 18 month baby she was sweating couldn't sleep it took long time tonput my daughter to sleep ig hve been many holiday in .in different areadl but mot like this it was poor
A lovely hotel, stayed with my young grandson who loved the pool. Very comfortable stay.
Superb location just a few minutes walk from the Tube Station and plenty of lovely places to eat. The bed was super comfortable with good quality linens. Really clean. The staff were exceptional, including the “greeters / front of house” workers who helped me get a taxi ASAP on the morning I left.
There was so much confusion about the reservations made by myself. We had so many issue with the breakfast which I still not sure got straightened out. Also, my husband and I were put in the smallest room I have every had. Very, very small! We are in our 80s and where given a room the furthest away from the front. The bed was not a king as requested. Other than those issues, the stay was find. We did request a change but nothing was available.
The property was to a good standard, however the room was very small especially the end of the bed in relation to the bathroom.
Very enjoyable three day stay. Comfy room. Excellent breakfast. Great hotel staff throughout. Top location. Would definitely return.
We had a standard king room on the second floor. It was small but very clean. Probably one of the cleanest hotel rooms ive stayed in. There was tea & coffee and shower gel & shampoo provided. The room was very warm so we had to have the window open a bit as well as the aircon on. The bed was very hard so i didn't sleep well unfortunately. I felt like a lizard sleeping on a rock! Not good when you have a spinal condition. Breakfast was expensive at £17.50 each so we didn't bother but there is a Starbucks in the lobby. Ive had to knock off a star for cleanliness as the pool changing rooms were not that clean with hair laying around and shower gel etc run out. The check in staff member for the pool seemed extreamly uninterested as well. The pool area is very small, not like the photos and there were just normal bright lights on with swimming lessons going on, so a bit disappointing and it didn't match the rest of the hotels appearence or standards. The hotel is a 2 min walk from the underground station with lots of places to eat around.
Safe area
After check in the room had not been cleaned. Having the safe over 6 ft up is not good when you are just over 5 ft tall. Elevator issues. House keeping comes way to early.
The hotel is steps from the tube station, High Street and the Devonshire Arms. Food and drink service is slow, drinks are pricey. There were no complimentary toiletries such as bar soap, shower cap, nail file. The maid left our garbage tied up on the counter. The pillows are flat.
The property wasn’t what I expected and their manner of communication is poor
Excellent stay, wonderful hotel and loved the pool.
Fab hotel for London stay. Great having pool and gym included
Great location, friendly staff and comfortable accomodations
Very accessible to transportation, safe and the staff was very professional.
Loved the pool and breakfast
Excellent
I booked double bed but I got 2 single.after check in I fresh up and check out and took a. Different room in Hilton . It’s pathetic
Either there was a mosquito in the room or it was something else, but I got eaten alive and woke up with bit marks all over my body. The hotel gave me a complimentary breakfast for it. It also refused to apply my IHG number because I booked through Expedia, while other locations applied it, whether in Edinburgh, Australia, and the U.S.
The sauna rooms were out of order and the facilities a bit old.
Made the trip better
The customer service and friendliness of the concierge and bar staff was second to none.
Great stay great location great hotel can not recommend highly enough .
It was amazing
Cleanliness & location are positives
Wasted time after finding room adjoining main staircase & directly across from elevators. Had submitted request NOT near either. Another cs rep changed room location. Clean! Did get quiet location.Little room to maneuver between bed and bathroom, closet area.
Some niggles, but good value and a pleasant stay
I’ve started here a number of times over recent years as it’s conveniently located near the tube station with good facilities around. My visit on this occasion was just okay but I rated good as the cost was less than £100 per night, so this offset some of my quibbles. My room was very warm the first evening and I couldn’t get the air con to work. It was fixed the next day, although I only appeared to have on or off control and the fan was very noisy. Cooler room though. Breakfast is good value but a little frustrating with waits at the hot plate as whilst waiting for items to be replaced, what was already on your plate was going cold. A wide selection of items and drinks. My bed was comfortable and the room and bathroom clean. The staff are friendly and welcoming.
Great location, great property
Staff at front desk superb, friendly and helpful. Pool chmaging rooms looking tired, but perfectly clean.
I had a wonderful time. Will go back again
Professional and genuinely caring staff. Great breakfast. Go for the suite if you want space
The staff at the hotel are brilliant. Very friendly, helpful and professional. However our check in was delayed and we had to re enquire twice to find out if it was ready. The telephone in the room also didn’t work.
3Daystay
Stayed for 3 nights on business. First night fire in the hotel but staff should be praised for the organisation in getting everyone out and safe while the fire dealt with. The gym facilities are fantastic and all the staff are friendly and super helpful.
Great location
Lovely hotel in a convenient location.
I was greeted by the classic English doorman which made me feel very safe and comfortable the rest of the staff was quite friendly and helpful. I had an enjoyable stay.
The hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly sbd the locstion was good
Great location and stay minus security
Overall a great stay but had a horrid run in with security who accused me of being too loud despite the fact i was visibly in pyjamas watching TV and told me to turn it down at 10pm on a Saturday. I also had a cleaner leave a half finished bottle of water in my room? Overall a good stay but security needs to wind it in.
Whenever I had a problem with my room, it was taken care of within seconds of my request. One problem occurred when water was accidentally spilled on my bed by housekeeping. They arrived and took care of the problem instantaneously. I was amazed. I highly recommend this hotel.
Very clean
London stay
Very nice hotel with very good facilities, and nice public areas. The room was very compact. Comfortable bed and pillows. Compact but practical bathroom.
Fabulous
This hotel is over my expectations. I was expecting a normal standar hotel, what I found was a very high standar hotel. I felt like a celebrity regarding the service, food amd attention. Definitely recommend this hotel for a very pleasant stay in London
Location and price
I truly enjoyed my stay and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast has an amazingly wide variety of choices and the gym/leisure facilities were very nice.
I was workingbin S Kensington so it was really convenient. It also had a gym and a pool.
good price, location and transport connections
Nice place to be close to one of the main London shopping arteries - easily to get anywhere in town. A busy and packed hotel, great if you like the buzz of an "American hotel" experience - which I do. Breakfast ok but certainly better value than some of the fashionable eateries on the high street.
Perfect location and lovely hotel.
Special birthday break
This was a birthday and Christmas treat so was lovely to be given an upgrade and the extra touch of a plate with Happy Birthday and 3 delicious little cakes on. Everything about our stay was perfect, staff, cleanliness, comfort etc.
Weekend Spa Stay in Kensington
Amazing Stay, lovely central location. Hotel was very clean, friendly service and professional. Lovely facilities, the spa and swimming pool was clean and well maintained and rooms in very good condition. Good selection at breakfast and room service very helpful. Well recommended. Especially for the price and value.
Great location and generally very good. Booked a Premium Twin Room which was a good size but bathroom was tiny especially the sink!
Rooms are really small I had to upgrade my room because my suitcases wouldn’t even fit in the room. Other than that staff was great, location was very convenient and walkable to high street.
It was good, only I have ask for the wine glasses and unfortunately they never arrived.
Great location. Rooms small and not well designed. Not enough storage room. Bathrooms very small and wash basin minuscule.
Nice
Hotel nice and central. Staff pleasant. Breakfast excellent. Extortionate prices in the bar though plus a £5 service charge for doing nothing - best avoid the bar area!
Excellent stay
Was here on a solo trip and the staff were lovely. I didn't get a chance to use the spa as I was so busy but I would definitely use it next time I stay. The bed was comfy and the room a perfect size for one person staying. It was nice to be asked if I wanted a room with a bath or shower as I forgot to request a bath beforehand. Having a Starbucks franchise in the lobby was a great feature as I was able to sit with a coffee doing some work for a bit before I was able to check in. The conceriege was lovely as well and as a solo traveller with a disability automatically came outside to help me with my bags and when leaving the hotel. Even offering to get me a taxi if needed. I would definitely stay here again. The location from hotel to tube station again is brilliant, as it is a couple of minutes down the road from the tube exit. This is an ideal location.
Average
Smallest room I’ve ever seen. The “king sized bed” was 2 beds pushed together but not attached so every time we moved, the beds would move apart!
Easy check in. Clean room. Good facilities. Value for money.
The staff was very helpful and friendly, the room small but comfortable
This is a great hotel for London. Very close to transport and a gorgeous area to walk around. Staff were lovely and it was nice to have access to the pool and facilities. Breakfast was great, with lots of options. Nice bar before heading out into town for dinner. Some reviewers have said the rooms are a little small, they are, but with that in mind we found our stay to be comfortable and we really enjoyed it.
We had a lovely time and the staff were all very friendly
Rien
Nice
Excellent hotel, great location, everyone friendly very helpful, will stay there again
Nice area
Have visited this hotel before, so knew it would be an enjoyable stay - it was. Happy to recommend to friends & family and will be staying here again in the future when back in London.
Excellent property, location and staff service!
Excellent one night stay
Met at the door by a well dressed doorman. Reception very friendly. Excellent first impressions. Room was basic twin , no view but clean and very good . Bed very comfortable. Good facilities. Plenty of towels. Used the pool which was good. Limited space due to lessons taking place. Breakfast excellent. Will definitely stay again when visiting London.
Very quick with resolving minor issues
Carpet in room had a few stains, staff very friendly and heipful, near to public transport. Very good overall
Great hotel. Super staff, centrally location. Good breakfast, great value for money.
Disappointing
Very surprising place, I work in the area and it was competitive priced
Great location, good price, clean and well appointed room with everything I needed for a 1 night stay. Would definitely recommend it for a pit stop after a night out for out of towners.
The hotel is generally good although showing some wear and tear. Possibly the worst pillows, or perhaps lumps of something that used to be a pillow, ever. Wonderful concierge.
Im trying to get in my room and i have gone three times to reception and still can’t get in
Hotel good. Facilities poor. Avoid the bar!!!
Lots of lifts out of order. Food in the bar took an hour to arrive then the chicken was dry (overcooked). Guess the ‘chef’ went for a break and forgot it. Then got charged for a double but asked for a single. BEWARE CHECK YOUR BAR BILL!!!
The staff is wonderful The elevators didn’t work consistently The room was not that clean And it was very small The staff, location Convenience shopping and transportation locality was fabulous
Claustrophobic
Pictures did not properly represent room. Very small. Lacked seating and storage.
Good quality hotel in a useful location
Staying overnight with a friend. Only used the room for sleeping and twin room is small, although we stayed before and the bedroom was smaller but the bathroom slightly bigger last time, so depends which style you get. Ours was standard and the toilet was immediately inside the bathroom door in a long slim room with shower at the end. It has everything though, kettle, small fridge, iron and board in the wardrobe. Placement of light switches is a bit odd in the headboard so you can switch on/off if you touch them by accident! It would be great to have a light in the bathroom that you can switch on in there, without waking up anyone else in the room at night ;) Nice pool, good showers, good breakfast, good location behind the tube, friendly staff, particularly the doorman :)
Manager n security sucks stay near picadelly
A great facility, great location, very well maintained. My room was a little on the compact side, however the space was incredibly well optimised, with new bathroom and furnishings. For two nights stay I was very happy with my experience at this hotel.
Great location Great hotel
Plus not be a better location. Walk to tube, shopping and food. Door staff are great. Only ding was the non working lift and had I known there were more elevators that would not even have been an issue. If you are coming to london stay here.
Very friendly service, we were offered a free upgrade when checking in. Will stay here again xx
Would recommend this hotel
Great hotel. Good price and nice location. Close to subway and great area. Lots of things to do around and close distance to hyde park
’ve stayed at this hotel twice before, in 2021 and 2022, for short stays and had a positive experience. However, my recent five-night stay was by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had, and I deeply regret choosing this property. I booked this stay through Expedia, which may have contributed to the issue, though I had previously booked directly with the hotel. For the price, we were placed in the smallest room available, which was not suitable for two people. Worse, the room had significant black mold on the walls. As someone familiar with the UK's damp climate, I understand that mold can be common, but this was entirely unacceptable in a hotel, especially when you’re paying a premium for a five-night stay. The housekeeping staff appeared to have tried to clean the mold but only succeeded in smearing it across the walls. Even worse, they attempted to hide the mess behind a curtain. After complaining to the manager, I was moved to a larger room, though it had a smaller bed, which was uncomfortable for my partner and me as we are both tall. This was far from ideal, but I accepted it out of necessity. The issues didn’t end there. In the breakfast area, I encountered staff behavior that seemed to reflect unconscious bias in how guests were seated. When I raised my concerns, rather than offering understanding or resolution, the staff became defensive and dismissive. This was troubling and unprofessional. Since leaving the hotel, I have been unwell, and the symptoms began
Holiday in Kensington
Great location & public bar & reception fine Pool changing rooms & bedroom a bit tired Overall reasonable value
Comfortable sleep but let down by furnituring
Good service wasn’t happy with the first room because of the shabbiness and lack of space - couldn’t get around the bed. Carpet and couch looked stained in areas. Staff relocated us to another room in better condition. Comfortable bed and relatively quiet so all in all a good nights sleep. My stay would have been genuinely 3 star if the furnishings especially in the bathroom where in a better condition.
Solid London Hotel
All as to be expected; the spa is good (gym, pool, sauna, steam room and more) and included
The request for early check in was honoured and the checking was seamless.
Very happy with this hotel and the visit to London. Excellent location, good sized clean and modern room. Staff were great especially Pale and Maz who had to go above and beyond when we lost an item when switching from one room to another. We arrived earlier than our check-in time and our room was not available. Later, there was a chance to check in slightly earlier but room was on the first floor above reception- went to look at it but that room was not satisfactory so we were moved to another room on a higher floor which was larger and renovated unlike the first floor. In that process, we left an item which we only realized hours later and Pale and Maz were able to retrieve it and were so gracious in doing so. Doorman, bellman and all were lovely throughout the stay.
Comfortable safe hotel
Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Room was comfortable and clean. Great location just a block from the High Street Underground Station. I felt very safe walking in the area.
Holiday Inn London - Kensington High St. by IHG | Hotel in London | Travala.com
We were disappointed with the room, having paid Expedia for a premium room. Ours was definitely not a premium room.
