Older rooms. No safe. Bathroom is old. Towel are old and scratchy. Bed was okay. No extra blanket. I’m forced

Good choice

Friendly staff easy to access from freeway and free parking. Close to lake, walking trails and restaurants Freeway noise heard from the 12th floor.

We were down sized to a smaller room when we were supposed to have a king bed with couch. Moved to New room, a/c did not work and hand soap dispenser was broke.

When I’m in Austin I stay here best staff and nice location for the price it’s a go for me!

Nice hotel

Nicely remodeled. Bed mattresses not the softest, nice selection of pillows. Parking garage very dark and dirty but free parking was a huge plus

Overall it was good, however I believe there was a lot of dust or mold somewhere in the room because Everytime we were in the room mine and my friends allergies were crazy until leaving the room they began to get better, also the walls are thin and we were staying next to a crying baby the whole time

The entire floor stunk of weed to the extent my wife and I had to report it to the security officer.

AC in the lakeview room didn't seem to work at all. Very outdated but it was a beautiful view and the bed was comfortable.

Disappointing and not worth the price.

Disappointing. Reserved a king bed room and prepaid the upcharge for a lake view room. Arrived to be told there were no king rooms, only doubles. Also, no lake view rooms! We were in town to attend a show so we didn't have time to go elsewhere. Person registering us said to make up for our inconvenience, he would offer us a free drink at the bar (which wasn't enough but we took it). When we returned, we handed handwritten coupons to bartender who said we could only have certain, limited (cheap) house spirits. In the room, the beds were way too small for me and the toilet tank leaked every time we flushed. Also, smallest clothes rack in the closet I have ever seen (less than a foot long). It was also very noisy in the room all night due to the traffic from the highway next to hotel.

Run down property

This is an older property with all the typical issues. Toilet did not flush properly. Breakfast choices were good. Fresh croissants were the highlight. Scrambled eggs were runny and barely warm. Bacon was very crispy. Microwave did not work. Furniture was worn. Although the view out my window showed me a nice dumpster so I can see they are in the process replacing all the old furniture.

The beds and pillows were even better than what i have at home! Thank you for the rest.

Needs renovations

Towels were very rough, stains on everything, baseboards ripped off, no vent in bathroom, elevator to garage made scary noises. Bed was comfy, pillow were meh, views of town lake were amazing and parking garage was convenient. Breakfast buffet was nice for $15/person

Tired

The hotel seemed a bit run down. Wallpaper in the room was starting to peel. The room has only one chair, the desk chair. We had to call to request a second chair from the front desk. Seems long overdue for a makeover.

It’s close to the lake, trails and boat rentals, but out of the way for most everything else.

Was informed after check in and getting settled in that there was no hot water to our half of the hotel so had to take a cold shower

The rooms are outdated. The room heating was not working, the bathroom tub was rusted. We were moved to the "updated" section, only update was a new shower. Weird location of hand soap, far from sink.Floor was not vacuumed, heating unit very noisy, traffic on 10th floor very noisy. Clock in room was 3 hours ahead causing confusion in the middle of the night. Food very average. Barmam was very pleasant and helpful, personnel in general doing the best they can with the issues cause by building age.

The room was facing the freeway so if you need a quiet room, this is not the hotel for you. All night long, traffic noise. The ice machine on the 12th floor was across from my room, in the hallway - did not work. Had to visit a separate floor for ice. The ceiling had noticeable damage and a large square section of the ceiling did not match the rest of the ceiling. Water damage above the closet had not been repaired - there was either water damage or black mold on the ceiling. The thing that kept me awake more than traffic was the heater clicking on and off. It dropped just below freezing last night and the heater would kick on with a loud CLICK - drown out the traffic. Then CLICK to shut off and...I could hear the traffic again. IMPOSSIBLE to sleep. On a positive, front desk staff was super friendly - fantastic location if you're visiting downtown, free parking is a plus. Bed was super comfortable and clean. Bathroom was extremely clean.

Great Location

This Holiday Inn feels semi upscale but the location is the best. Easy access in and out. I say semi because at one time this was THE hotel to stay when in Austin within walking distance to Town Lake and downtown. Meanwhile the only suggestion are the curtains. They are about as old as this hotel, when you get a room with the lake view, you want to be able to open these curtains to enjoy. Replace them and the tracks they are on. Otherwise I would have rated you 5 stars.

Absolutely loved this hotel. The lake view room was amazing. Had issues with the A/C but staff was quick to fix it. Will definitely be back!

No water in the shower

The room was not cleaned, ac filter was stick out of the ac unit, bathroom was not clean, we did not have hot or warm water to shower.

There was no towel bars in the bathroom at all so nowhere to hang any towels, weird but overall it clean.

Nice place at a nice rate

The hotel is nice at a good rate. We were told on arrival that the boiler was out, and that if we had problems they would compensate us. We had two room. Both rooms did not have hot water the next morning. While it was not cold cold, it definitely was not a warm shower. We were not compensated. We did call IHG, but have not heard back from them. The other thing was our invoice left under our door was $20 less than what our credit card charges were.

Our stay was too short. Both the facility and staff were exceptional. The facility was very clean and comfortable, breakfast was great, and the staff were friendly and accommodating.

I was able to enter my room a bit early which was very much appreciated. Once in the room it was hard to get comfortable. The guests in the next room were quite loud and couldn’t take a nap. Also the hair dryer was missing and had to remind the front desk to get me a hair dryer after asking once already. The hot water was very tepid—barely hot, so no hot showers available. The snack meals available for purchase in the store were a lifesaver and not terribly overpriced.

The breakfast was excellent with tasty and healthy options. Great service and spacious, comfortable rooms.

I really enjoyed my stay,there was a problem with ants around the bathroom sink once I let them know it was taken care of and I was given another room. I did not like the sliding bathroom room doors or the shower where u have to get wet just to turn it on ,all in all I really enjoyed it here and I would return.

Our room was not properly cleaned. In the sink was what appeared to have been an electric shaver dumped with a ton of whiskers. GROSS!

We had a nice stay. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was just okay. We love the Lady Bird lake view from our room and that we were able to walk/run along the lake for morning exercise.

Convenient locale

Quick stay. Room was sufficient for our needs and within walking distance of lots of local food options.

Staff very friendly and the breakfast was delicious. I told the front desk staff how much we enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The bar staff was great and the dinner menu was very tasty. Thank you!!

Rude manager, gym doesn't have basic dumbells, parking is an issue, noisy surroundings and high prices. Never again.

Great place close to everything

The person checking us in was not very welcoming. He didn’t inform us of any amenities or really anything about the hotel. It’s near the interstate and our room was noisy. We also were awakened at night by the person in the room above us being noisy.

What to do in Austin?

Odd, circular designed building from the 60's or so. Rooms were odd shape and pretty small, although well appointed and clean. Fittings were old fashioned, but functional. Breakfast was wholesome and plentiful. Location was very good, close to the Lady Bird Lake hiking and running trails. Just a couple of miles from the Capitol Building too.

Trash in parking and around the hotel. Landscape unkempt. Outside trashy.

Whole floor smelled like pot, couldn't get away from it
