I traveled alone the place was well lit even the parking ramp and they had extra steps for safety using the elevators. It was very very cold on the days i stayed and my car wouldnt start but the security on duty that day went well out of his way to help me, he was very nice and helpful.
Helpful staff and super fast elevators!
Close to aims oil areana
Nice
Awesome stay
Comfortable beds, friendly staff!
We love this location for the convenience of getting to and from Canal Park on foot and also the fact that it has two pools which typically means they’re not too busy. This time we had a noisy heater that clicked all night long making sleep less restful and leaving us ready to head home right away the next morning due to exhaustion. The hotel could definitely use a little updating.
Really fun area. Winter weekends be prepared for a lot of kid sports teams around the hotel.
The place is disgusting. The don’t know how the clean the place. The already took $300 from an accidental reservation and refused to refund. This place is a joke. Not worth the price.
Liked everything...but you need more luggage carts
Great area!
It was awesome.
The beds are not comfortable. I now have back pain. I didn’t like that the room had carpet. Super gross.
Convenient
Okay room, the "Dove" conditioner sucks
The room was mostly clean, aside from hair on the shower wall. The conditioner was absolutely awful and definitely not Dove, seems they refill Dove bottles with knock off stuff that can't even be classified as conditioner.
Couch was dirty stained up. Hot tub was mucky. Beds had crumbs.
The hotel room was nice, however it was small for being a “suite”. The pool area was ok. There was a brown dirt ring around the whole pool… on the bright side the beds were comfortable and the lobby was nice!
It was a good hotel and a convient location in downtown Duluth.
Great room for the price. Very clean, free ramp parking, and walkable around downtown Duluth and Canal Park
Great customer service and clean room. Would come again.
Very clean place. Restauraunt was excelent
It is an ok place, but facilities are pretty old
Property was easily accessible via the parking ramp. The free shuttle to lake st was an awesome bonus. Weather was frightful so we are thankful we didn't have to walk
The hotel was very noisy. The hotel rooms surround the pool. At 11 PM, it was still really noisy.
Book elsewhere
Poor experience. Very noisy. Pool was overcrowded with adults and children. Some times you can wait 5-10 minutes for the elevator. Children running up and down hallways at all hours of the night. Upon check in there was someone else’s dirty socks left on a chair.
It is a convenient location to stay to enjoy the many different attractions in the area.
Oliver was excellent!
Overall a fine place. The pools were tired and a bit dirty. The room was clean but not fully stocked with coffee or towels.
Such friendly people and clean comfy room
Area around the hotel is run down and not very safe. Room - had dirty diapers left in it, stains on furniture, out dated room, very few towels in the room. To name a few issues.
Good but check in later if you can
Hotel was clean, comfortable, and overall good. The lobby is not set up well for check in time. We had to wait for quite some time, blocking elevators. There also wasn’t a bathroom that was accessible without a key card, which made waiting with a barely potty trained toddler difficult.
The desk staff was nice enough. When I asked to have my sheets CHANGED it was never done at all as the same sheet with red mark was on the bed. Someone went inside of my car and robbed some of my gear. Thank you 🙂
Great Experience
Super nice and quiet. Great central location.
Everything was good
I ordered and payed for a king suite with an in the room jacuzzi. When I checked in they had given my room to another person and checked me into a regular room for the same price. I was cheated out of my room and out of my money paid for that room. I would like a full refund for this bad experience and disrespect and lack of response!
Perfect location
Great hotel in great location.
Hot tub was broken
It’s a great location. Hotel is dated but you can tell they’ve started to refresh the property.
Clean, dated room and hotel.
The room was clean, the room was dark as the window faced inward toward the inner atrium…no natural light. Clean room , however very dated.
Close, but desolated
Good location to be able to walk to the train Museum. Hotel was as expected being Holiday Inn. We should have asked to be on a different floor than #4. Our room was too close to the open air lobby and elevator. Plus access to the pool was across from our room. No need for an alarm with kiddos running and playing loud for pool time. I wish the staff would of reserve our room for families with kids or at least ask us if we would like a different floor.
The room, especially the bathroom was very cramped. The plumbing had significant issues, notified front desk 3 times, but issue remained. Mirror was for someone under 5'5" note it was hot a handicap room. Pool was very poorly lit. Will not stay again in the future
It was average, too many new managers over the years doesn’t help
Properly was clean, staff was friendly, room was as expected. Beds were comfortable, shower pressure was good and water was hot! Overall a good experience.
breakfast was not included
Great room, very busy and noisy at times but nice for the price
I stayed in the Leif Erikson suite and right away I smelled the odor of cigarettes, there was also a few miscellaneous things such as a spray bottle for wiping surfaces left behind and an empty bottle of water leftover. Other than that, the room was great; the jetted tub felt nice and soothing. Also, the shuttle service really came in handy!
The room was fine & the restaurant decent. Location was okay.
We were very pleasantly surprised with how much we enjoyed this hotel, mostly because it was one of the more affordable options in the area. Parking was a breeze (and covered), the facilities were clean and updated, the pool area was quite nice, the room was clean and updated with a good view of canal park. Our only issue was we couldn't get the wifi to work, but as we were only at the hotel at night and in the morning for one day, it wasn't a major issue. Overall, really liked our stay and will definitely consider staying again on our next trip to Duluth.
Walked out of Lyric after waiting over an hour for our breakfast
Friendly and easy!
Had a lovely stay at this property when visiting with my friends. The front desk staff were kind & friendly, even through it was busy at check-in time, and everyone received quick service! We didn’t dine at any of the restaurants on site, but there’s a little market in the lobby with easy snacks and plenty of bottled drinks. The coffee was fresh in the morning, and checkout via mobile was super simple. We’ll stay again next time we’re in Duluth!
Great stay.
👍👍
Nice Hotel inside. Parking ramp was trashy. We had city side view and was very noisy on Friday night around bar close all we heard was hooting and hollering for a couple hours. Convenient walk to the DECC and other places near the lift bride. Shuttle driver was awesome!

Room was clean, quiet and updated. Also had a nice view of the lift bridge. I enjoyed my stay.
I liked everything it was wonderful
We stayed while a family member was in the hospital. Conviently close.
Nice hotel in the heart of Duluth
Super clean room and close to Canal Park and the Lakewalk
The hotel was great with ample parking easy to find a good space.
Disgusting
Took the family on a mini getaway and booked a stay at the holiday. As soon as I opened the door into the room smell a cigarette lingered by. Room looked unclean just by observing, spider webs and dead bugs along the windows, musty carpet smell, my son hurt his leg as there was a broken box spring with something sharp sticking out, crumbs along side the floor bed, toilet paper still floating inside the toilet bowl, when we popped up the sofa bed there were crumbs on the bedding, there were extra pillows with booger stain on the pillow cases, and my entire family was sneezing the entire time in the room. We tried to be out as much as possible to avoid being in the room. My children did enjoy the pool however I would recommend removing carpet that is around near the pool on the lobby floor as it stinks really bad. On that same lobby floor where the pool is located there is a small arcade area with mostly all games out of order. One of the games with toys had really old and moldy toys. This was the most disgusting stay I have ever been to. Don’t recommend at all!
We paid 300 dollars to stay in a trashy hotel in the middle of abandoned stores and parking garages.
I like everything about it
This was a great stay. All the employees were very nice
The staff was very friendly and the parking was very convenient.
Bummed that the hot tub was shut down, but the hotel was nice and clean with comfortable beds and the staff was friendly. Also walking distance to Canal Park which is what we were looking for.
Hotel was so much older than I expected. Room was so dirty, windows were fogged we couldn’t even see out of it. We had hoped to have a good view but could hardly see out of it
Room was very humid although it was pushing ac. Sheets, clothing, Kleenex and toilet paper were damp. Wifi was down for 12 hours which is super inconvenient for Canadian travellers Fridge froze everything in it. Floating things in the one working hot tub. Other hot tub was down. Chocolate covered almond left on the floor from previous guests and not cleaned.
The hotel was nice, clean for the most part in some areas. We were on the 9th floor in the area of the pool. The Elevator access to the pool was not clean. The floor of the elevator wasn't cleaned for the entire three days, We were there. There was food on the floor and never cleaned. The pool area is loud, and can hear everything in your rooms. Pool is open until 10pm, Even though it states on the sign that adult swim is from 9 PM to 10 PM, but there are still kids swimming in the pool. Being loud and screaming. Which wasnt ideal if you have small children with bedtimes that are earlier. I had to call the front desk to complain when the pool was still open after 10 and ppl were being so loud, my kid didnt go to sleep each night until 1030/11pm. There was a thunder storm on saturday, which is no ones control. But the tv was out for awhile and the internet was out from the rest of our stay. If we stay here again i would request not to be on the 8, 9, 10th floor which are open to the pool area.
Room wasn’t very clean and bathroom toilet wouldn’t flush. Room had an unpleasant odor.
Traveled with family. Decent sized room. Staff very friendly. Very convenient.
Property was fine. It definitely hasn’t been updated in a while. Our room was right next to the pool so it felt humid and there was a decent amount of noise from the pool area - thankfully we had white noise. The WiFi didn’t work for most the night we were there. Bed comfortable enough. Room was clean.
Standard
Pretty standard hotel. Pricey for what it was. Didn't realize I was booking a room with a balcony overlooking the pool (which made it very loud) Overall it was fine, probably wouldn’t stay here again
Navigating breakfast not easy. Otherwise great.
More updated rooms - better view
This hotel has two pools. Ramp parking was nice. Room felt outdated.
Parking & easy check in.
Easy check-process, staff was friendly. Room was comfortable however HVAC in suite area was not operational. Carpet in hallways was worn.
Everyrhing was great, it was just a little shabby in the room. Specifically the bathroom.
The property is dated, clean but AC was terrible and rooms are small. Ok for the price and location though. Staff was good and respectful.
I had an incredibly disappointing stay at the Holiday Inn & Suites Duluth Downtown. The main issue was the lock on my door, which completely malfunctioned, leaving me locked out for an entire night. Despite my repeated attempts, I couldn’t open the door from the outside. The situation was so dire that the hotel had to call in a maintenance guy in the middle of the night to let me in. Adding to the frustration, there were no other rooms available to accommodate us. The overall condition of the hotel is severely lacking. It’s old and desperately in need of renovation. The bathtub in our room didn’t drain properly, causing water to pool up, which was both inconvenient and unsanitary. The rooms were uncomfortably hot, humid, and had a musty smell that was hard to ignore. Given the high price tag, I expected a much better experience. Unfortunately, the outdated facilities and the significant inconvenience of being locked out all night made this stay absolutely not worth it. I strongly advise looking elsewhere for accommodations in Duluth.
Staff are super friendly and helpful. Easy hotel for getting to/from Canal Park and other fun areas. We have stayed multiple times and rooms have always been clean.
I stayed on the 8th floor which is the pool floor. If you are on a business trip like myself request to be moved from this floor. Lots of families stay on this floor and it was very loud most nights. Also just smelled like a pool and the room was always muggy and musty from the pool.
Fun
Very clean and spacious rooms and pool areas are clean
Great staff, very clean.
Too hot/ignored by staff
Ac was out for our whole trip. They came to fix it twice, but to no avail. When I let them know a third time that it still wasn’t working, I was messaged that they got my message and would answer me shortly. This was our last evening there. Staff did not message back (they use texts for requests/complaints) and maintenance did not come to the room. We spent 2 miserably hot nights in the room. The rooms were clean, but the whole hotel could use some updates considering the price point.
Convenient to a diverse local color venue and dining
Not much around
It was a nice stay, but we had problems getting our room cleaned. I couldn't get through to housekeeping.
We reserved a king non smoking room, when we got to the hotel, there was 5 ppl waiting to check in, so we wanted to use a bathroom after our long drive, the lobby bathrooms were locked and needed a room key to open. We checked in and got to our room, the smoke smell was overwhelming, I called the front desk to request another room, the guy was very apologetic and moved us to another room on the same floor and sent an employee up with our new room cards, the new room was at the end of the hall and seemed a lot smaller than our original room, we only stayed one night so we just stayed in smaller room.
The downtown area in Duluth has really gone downhill. Don’t book a room here thinking that you are in a nice part of town with activities available. cramped parking ramp, that’s a little annoying to navigate. Comfortable beds, reasonably clean rooms, small TV.
Everything was wonderful. Very accommodating and comfortable.
No complementary breakfast. Area was unsafe, a lot of homeless people harassing people.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Convenient to canal park
Very comfortable beds
Way nicer than I anticipated. Two pools!
Nice hotel but area around the hotel has deteriorated. Not feeling safe walking around. Skyway felt safer to walk to DECC.

Check in and out was easy and staff were wonderful. The room was great. There was no microwave in the room, which was the main thing I'd like to see different.
