We usually stay on the south shore but decided to stay on the north shore shore mainly due to price. Never again. The positives were it's closeness to the airport, the rooms were a good size, and the people in and out of the resort were very cordial, that's it. Oh and the pools were pretty. Older redone property with a tiny manmade beach. One small beach bar that was too cold and windy at night to sit at. Two restaurants, one was closed most of the eight days we were there. Food quality was OK at best. There are some decent restaurants not too far off, but it's a $20-$40 cab fare. Large property with a lot of steps and ramps to get to anywhere in the resort. Rooms are very Spartan with very little furniture. Our air conditioner seemed to work only when it wanted to even after two visits by the engineer. The resort is not bad it's just very boring.
This is an excellent property, better than in the pictures. We had a wonderful oceanfront unit. We stayed Dec 13-21, 2024, the week before Christmas. The landscaping and architectural design is outstanding. Would return.
Beautiful, clean resort with friendly and welcoming staff. 2 BR, 2 BA Oceanview suite was perfect for our family of 5. The pools were nice with plenty of chairs, towels, etc. Boat ride from resort to Prickly Pear Island was a great bonus. The roads around the property could use some maintenance but that's true of the entire country in general. We had an awesome overall experience. Highly recommend this place for some R&R. Wish they had a few more vegetarian options for my wife though.
The restaurant is way over priced and the attention to detail is lacking. They mistakenly put alcohol in a child’s drink, incorrectly insisted on pizza being gluten free, changed around meats - and that was just one meal. I’ve never seem so many errors.
Amazing resort. Exceeded our expectations. Their online pictures don’t do it justice. Much nicer in person.
Love that the resort is about 5 mins from the airport and has one of the most amazing views.
Very nice property beautiful beach on resort, friendly and very resourceful staff . Must visit
Overall Hodges Bay was average at best. The resort/rooms were dated, staff wasn’t the friendliest, location of resort wasn’t in the best area. No entertainment on resort, cats were hanging in the buffet area jumping up under the set up where the food was. We will not be returning to this resort!
Inaccurate reviews - not luxury hotel - stay away
My room was full of mosquitos. I got bitten all over. Unacceptable. My shower barely had enough water coming out of it to shower. I was served bad mussels at dinner & breakfast was inedible. Breakfast also starts too late for people trying to catch morning flights to Barbuda. Art work was tasteless. A women in black lingerie with a rabbit’s head & smoking is not family friendly. Art work felt more like Mexican mafia party hotel artwork. Reviews are incorrect. Look like paid reviews. Overpriced for what is basically a Hilton.
Beautiful hotel!
I cannot express my love and appreciation for the staff and beauty of nature at hodges bay! Our stay was amazing from start to finish. Shoutout to Andy, Trevor and JohnJohn for their driving skills and kindness in taking us pkaces around the island. Shoutout to the dining staff for all their work in making delicious, fresh food available every day for us. Everything was incredibly delicious, generously portioned and made with love. I adored the entire vibe of the resort with the hearts everywhere, the laid-back attitude and the beach is utterly incredible. Thank you everyone for making our stay so memorable and truly incredible.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Hodges. The room and hotel grounds were immaculate. The staff were very accommodating and helpful. The spa treatment was great; the breakfast buffet was a great way to start the day. There were multiple options daily. I would say their restaurants need a bit of work. It would be nice to have some Antiguan dishes on the menu. I would definitely stay at this property again however I’d eat lunch and dinner off property.
Loved the staff, the private island and the suites.
The staff was extremely friendly, helpful and made sure I enjoyed myself
I must say me and my partner really enjoyed our stay ,the only issue we had was the parking.Other than that the faculty was amazing the food was spectacular. I really enjoyed my stay .
hotel looks very tired, peeling paint on the outside, broken tiles, staff requests went unanswered. Our room had peeling paint on the ceiling and an a/c that had a broken thermostat, room wasn’t properly serviced everyday. Not going back….
While property needs a reno, beach, pools and Prickly Pear Island are wonderful. But what makes this place really special is the staff led by the wonderful Chantal.
Enjoyed our stay. Great breakfast & dinner. Would highly recommend.
Property was quiet and staff was friendly. Breakfast was good daily and room was steps away from beach. The beach was clean. Ocean front room was spacious and convenient. Would recommend suites. Overall resort was beautiful but needs a few touch ups.
From the time I arrived everything was great. Customer service was on point. Everyone was friendly and professional.
This place is a hidden gem and surpassed all and any of my expectations. I will definitely be coming back and recommend it to everyone I know. Cannot say one bad thing about it, truly incredible.
Antigua is a beautiful place . The resort was excellent. The roads needs maintenance.
Hodges Bay lived up to all expectations. The food was amazing, and the room was just as beautiful as the pictures.
Beautiful property, amazing pools, water front dining, friendly staff ! The food at all restaurants was excellent. They have a water taxi for a short ride to a private island that has cabanas and en excellent bar and grill. The island is open monthly for a full moon party. The bartenders, Delvin and Marvelous at Drift- the beach front bar were awesome. Some of the best drinks ever. I would recommend and would definitely return to this oasis!
Awesome!!
Relaxing with nice staff.
Lovely place
This property was so luxurious the rooms were spacious. The people were really nice and I felt safe. They have their own property transportation so you don’t have to wait on a taxi.
20th Anniversary Celebration. We had an amazing time. Excellent Service. The staff members make you feel special and they go above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay. We are very satisfied with our stay we HIGHLY recommend this beautiful property. We want to send our best wishes to all the employees that made this happen. Thank you
C
Excellent property and reasonable price, meals were great, will be back !
Friendly staff Private island
Exceptional service
The airline misplaced my suitcase on arrival which made me very disappointed. I arrived at Hodges Bay and the welcome, the ambiance of the place, my room and the facility in general just made all my worry fall to the side. My wife and I total enjoyed our stay on this beautiful property with impeccable service.
Perfect place for vacation if you are looking for relaxation and rest. Dining options could be better
Beautiful chic property! Staff was 11/10, beach was nice and pool was great.
Excellence customer service. Julian, Karl, and the ladies at the front desk provided superb service. The kitchen chefs and restaurant staff were very kind and the food was delicious. Look no further and book at Hodges Bay Resort. It’s clean, beautiful accommodations, on-site restaurants and spa, family friendly pool and adult pool. I did not get a chance to visit prickly pear island or use the spa services but look forward to trying these during my next visit.
Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Rooms were clean and well maintained.
The hotel is very pretty and the staff are amazing.
The hotel is clean and quiet. However, if you are looking for entertainment this is not the hotel for you.
Quite amazing architecturally. 4/5 employees were lovely and food was above average altho a bit pricey. Not much around but a lovely quiet spot with excellent aircon!
All the staff were so nice and welcoming they make sure that we were properly taken care of. I will recommend this property to anyone that is looking for a fantastic vacation in Antigua.
We took this vacation for my husbands birthday, so i called in advanced and was informed they would decorate for the occasion, i also called again while at the hotel to ensure it would be done, however when i called i was informed that they check to see what they could do. I told them i had called previously and was told that was not a problem. So to make a lond story short they didnt do anything, so disappointed to spend souch money and not even a happy birthday, The room was nice however we became itchy when we would lay in the bed there. I had never experienced that b4 so needless to say, decent hotel but definitely would not stay there again.
The staff was helpful and welcoming for the most part. The property did have some wear and tear but overall in decent condition for a Caribbean hotel. The breakfast and restaurant food was flavorful. My cons had to do with the wait on the private island for food. It was excessively long and they ran out of food. They also need some type of cooling (fans) on the island as well. Also, the rooms AC was a little wonky. Overall tho, it was a good stay.
Amazing experience
It’s the staff for me ALL OF THE STAFF! The staff made my vacation as special as it was the property is dated and need upgrades the menu needs additions and more variety daily the cafe needs more items. The staff are perfect in every way they are polite and welcoming
The access to the beach and pool. The staff was wonderful!! it was quiet and very clean in the rooms. I highly recommend this resort! Jean Marie was amazing! Tango and Sean were amazing! very friendly and helpful! above all they were very very very loving and understanding of my 2 year old.
Very nice hotel with good facilities, the only negatives I would say is the evening meals were a bit on the small side and also only a small beach area. Would definitely recommend
Beautiful property
Really nice property, not 5 star, food not good enough, and a few run down areas. It’s 4- 4.5 stars. Some staff very nice, some staff rude. That’s the carribean though in my experiences. Really great private island, and so perfectly quiet in June which is antiguas slow month. Good breakfast included, drinks bot strong at all and not worth the prices. Overall I had a really nice time there, and would go back.
Had an Amazing time
Wonderful staff
Excellent resort. Wonderful staff. Unique and contemporary features. Highlight: Prickly Pear Island.
Great accommodations and friendly staf.
Staff was very friendly, especially Morgan at the front reception.
This was a very disappointing hotel. The food was mediocre and over priced, beach areas not maintained (including Prickly Pear Island which was shabby to say the least). The staff was a mix of wonderful and disinterested. The property has so much potential, but without options for great food and good customer service, I don’t see it having any repeat visitors. My most disappointing hotel experience to date.
Beautiful resort, amazing staff and very quiet. Exactly what we were looking for.
Great
Amazing stay! Staff are super helpful and friendly. Hotel has all you need. Will be returning.
Amazing property. Very quiet and clean
Good clean and good service. Good food too.
Service was amazing Beautiful resort
Beautiful views and room
The location, rooms, and view are incredibly beautiful. The pool views in particular are lovely, as well as the infinity hot tub. Pretty good snorkeling and access to water sports from both the main beach and Prickly Pear island. Resolving a few issues would have made the stay perfect. The shower water pressure was always low and ranged from lukewarm to cold. Service could have been faster for the restaurants and room service. But these were minor issues during an overall beautiful stay.
This place is probably amazing overall BUT we got in late and they took us straight to our room. We never got an overview of property, for instance that there was a tunnel that connects the lobby, gym etc to the rest of the property. We ordered room service and they took it the next day as expected but piled it in one spot and don’t clean it up for several days. We asked day after day for caffeinated coffee but would only bring decaf. Maybe not a big deal to some but for three days we drank decaf. Little details like the caulking in the bathroom looks like a 2 year old did it screams they are not concerned with the details. Went to the pool several times, one time after at least an hour one of the bartenders came by and asked if we needed anything. Ate at the restaurant a couple times, seemed like the waitstaff was pist at each other. Not impressed with the food. Ordered a side salad with ranch, they brought salad with like thousand island dressing, then when we told them it was supposed to be ranch they brought it back with a side of ranch. It had dressing on it already. Honestly my best description is it’s a 4 star resort run by 2 star employees. Sorry to be so critical we just assumed that for the price it was going to be top notch.
…
Hodges Bay Resort has to be one of the best resorts I've ever been to. To start it off, I arrived with my baggage delayed and the staff at Hodges Bay welcomed us in such a positive way. We were already in not the best of moods and immediately sat us down gave us wet towels and champagne to relax. They checked us in, in less than 10 minutes and advised us to go get clothes from the town before it closes, since everything closes at 5pm. We did as they said and got clothes for a day. If it wasn't for them we would have not had anything to wear for the next day at our activity. After the first day I was in Antigua, I got sunburned pretty bad and went to the reception area to ask if they had aloe vera I can buy. Unfortunately they didn't have but one of the ladies (I can't remember her name, but she was incredibly friendly), was nice enough to go across the street and cut down some aloe so that I can put in on my body. I don't think I've ever had a hotel staff member do something like that for me. Overall the hotel is beautiful. The beach is nice, the food is spectacular and overall just such an aesthetic vibe. The best part is Prickly Pear Island, a private island that is only a 5 min boat ride from Hodges Bay. My partner and I spent the whole day there and it has to be one of the best experiences we've ever had. 10/10 resort.
A beautiful property with a kind staff
Hodges 2024
Great hotel in an Execellent location, fantastic food options on site along with amazing pool
Very unusual hotel...beautiful architecture. Good food, and lovely ambience. Beautiful pool side area. The only draw back is the lack of beach...very small area...cannot go for beach walk, therefore.
I stayed here as a cool down after carnival in Trinidad and it was a realllly really beautiful place with beautiful people. It did not disappoint at all, food was great and the staff was perfect. Ensure you go to Prickly Pear Island as it is free with your stay.
Amazing Resort. Wish there was more dining options
The Staff were super friendly and nice! In particular, I loved Tango and his dance 💃 he spreads positive vibes all over the resort!
Very Nice property , everyone was very helpful and so relaxing.
Staff were nice and welcoming, rooms were nice but a lot of mosquitos in the rooms, I think this may be due to when the rooms are being cleaned to doors are left open. Food was nice but very expensive, I will stay again but will look fhe cost of the hotel did not represent the standard received.
Amazing staff, very attentive. The property and rooms were very clean. Staff was always on top of keeping everything clean and tidy, even daily shoveling of washed up seaweed! The kayaks and paddle boards are free and readily available. There’s a free boat that goes back and forth to Prickly Pear island which has a bar and restaurant attached to the resort. Food was amazing, we ordered almost everything on the menu and it was all delicious. Highly recommend and will be going back very soon!
This was the second time we come to Hodges bay resort, first time was two years ago and was an amazing experience, this time not as much , we had a suite that is pretty old and needed renovation , bathroom had a broken toilet , missing shower parts, not enough towels even though the reservation is for 5 ppl. Bathroom door wasn’t closing right, , we had to request the room to be cleaned , staff was very nice though , hope that these comments will help improve the quality of the hotel for future residents
Absolutely loved our stay! Beautiful beaches and access to prickly pear was the best! Great spot for my husband who is a kite surfer! Highly recommend!
The Staff the staff the staff made All the difference.... its already beautiful and this is the icing on the cake. Great private island for swimming.
Nice hotel beautiful property service a bit slow had a jacuzzi that was broken took staff long time and several complaints to rectify solution. Had to contact property multiple times for follow up on special services. Overall a good stay beautiful property and clean.
If your looking for a more lively hotel this is not it, it is a very relaxing boutique type hotel with limited dining options, just 1 restaurant and no hotel store..the only reason I would ever go back to Hodges Bay is because of the staff..shout out to Ishmael at the front desk..it was my wife’s birthday and he went far and beyond decorating the room and making sure we had everything we need.
First of all. We enjoyed the stay and for the most part enjoyed the food and the location (nice and quiet). The service however is significantly lacking for a resort of this level and the amount of money paid. We repeatedly had to ask for towels in the room and to get the room cleaned. despite the "cleaning" a large roach was left in the floor (which was there prior to cleaning). Food service from kitchen to location around the pool or beach was exceedingly slow with exception of "Mr. Tango" who was personally exceptional. We had no problems with the food, but dinner options are limited, although tasty. The room bathroom lights are dependent on the exhaust fan, so late at night if you need to visit the bathroom, you cannot do so without being in total darkness or turning on the loud exhaust fan. minimal outlets in the bathroom and not readily available in the rooms. Overall, we had a nice time and got what we wanted: beautiful beach, quiet beach, reasonable food and nice people. Just a few items lacking that would make it "great" compared to "average or in some ways below average" when staying at a hotel at this price level.
The property could be a 5 star, but it really needs some upgrades! Little things like the cushions on the lounge chairs were all stained and ripped - really bad! Also, there weren’t enough chairs on the beach and there was plenty of room for more. Most of the staff were extremely nice except for those that worked behind the bar at Prickly Pear. We had a number of issues with our suite (no hot water, AC broke, no towels, hair dryer broke, hot tub did not work correctly, moldy smell, curtains didn’t close, locks on doors did not work), but they were mostly addressed once brought to the staff’s attention. Buffet breakfast was pleasant, especially the made-to-order omelettes. Could not get a taxi to take us to dinner which was very surprising.
Staff were amazing and you feel like they are there to pamper you. The resort is not busy like other large resorts so we loved feeling like it was our own private paradise.
Beautiful oceanfront venue.
Overall good experience..
Property could be amazing. Appears to only have select amenities open and available (one restaurant and one bar). Not enough beach chairs for everyone, they were all claimed before noon. Our room was horribly musky. We had the pullout bed booked for our daughter, when we pulled it out it had no bedding. We asked the front desk to make the pullout bed under and they never did. So we ended up sleeping 3 to one bed.
The location is great. Food is tooooo expensive and very little. Staff was great and helpful
The staff was friendly and very hospitable
staffs are not provide any room services and forgot to tidy the room for a few days
The property is beautiful. The registration staff were hospitable and offered an upgraded room in celebration of my birthday. The staff at The White Sands Restaurant were amazing! Stephan, the EX/manager suggested the MahiMahi Special and it was perfect! Great experience and definitely worth a return visit
We had a great time the staff always there for you did a great job but does need a little tlc on ground and decks Over all we really have good time
this is a marvelous property but needs some risk control improverments. needs yellow paint stripe on the edge of each step to prevent falls. to spray the corners of the walls for bugs. Need non slip mat on the shower floors.
We stayed at Hodges Hotel in Antigua from Aug 24th - Aug 28th (I ended up leaving the 27th). We heard such wonderful things about your hotel and had this trip planned for a friend’s birthday (who was staying in another room),but unfortunately we have been met with so many issues. For one, when we checked into the hotel room our hotel bathroom shower wall was covered with hair. The hair was brown and neither me or my friend have brown hair, neither of us had taken a shower at this point but noticed upon further inspection of the room. Also, we noticed that our curtains were extremely filthy, curtains harbor a lot of dirt and debris and with the increased rates of covid infections happening I would expect the hotel to take more consideration when cleaning hotel rooms. Then the next morning we then found a roach in our room. We reported it to the front desk who then provided us with “off” spray (which is not for roaches) but no further resolution. We have also had issues with dirty linen and bedsheets. On the 26th we ordered room service, along with a friend staying in another room and both became very ill. The order was completely wrong but in an attempt to not complain again we decided to eat it. The salad was wilted and stale the avocado was brown and my friend and I who both had the mahi mahi became ill.
Wonderful!! I am so amazed at the excellent service provided by everyone! and the special made salmon that wasn't on the menu, It is not unnoticed, Thank you! I cant say enough words, my daughter a child and we traveled to many countries and she compliment how nice you all are!
Fabulous with its own private island
AC didn’t work properly. Water pressure from shower was bad. Breakfast was set up late; not at scheduled 7:30. Dinner was very good!
Hotel was good , staff at checking weee great but staff working at breakfast buffet have No customer service skill. Or I can say there no service at breakfast buffet it is like self serve
Had problems with the room. The air conditioner did not work great through the night and we were hot. Wanted pizza for dinner and there was no pizza available. Went to breakfast the next morning and no raspberry for the mimosas. Staff was great and very friendly.
Beautiful property with great beach area and access to offshore little island. Resort in need of touch up. Paint chipping in ceiling. Light switches and outlets rusted. Grout in shower needs to be refreshed. Shower head completely rusted. Parking behind lobby very poorly kept.
Great Resort!!!!!!!!!!!
The staff at the resort was amazing. The food was delicous. The drinks were great. My room was just as advertised online. The service from the staff was excellent. If you need to get away you should come here and enjoy yourself. It was well worth it and I look forward to going back soon.

The property was very nice. We enjoyed visiting the island and relaxing at the adult pool. The restaurant options could have been better as the food was average.
