All individuals staying there mentioned how unsafe they felt and that the hotel rooms were below average.
Enjoyed My Stay
I enjoyed my stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Austin Downtown. The reps at the lobby were very helpful with my check-in, and provided all the information I needed for my 1-night stay. They also provided helpful information about getting around Austin and visiting interesting sites. The room was clean and well-kept. I had everything I needed to make my stay comfortable. The front desk staff should be commended for their valuable assistance.
Had a good stay.
Arrived late, after midnight. The night staff was rebooting and had difficulty with checkin after reboot. Our booked room had been given to someone else so issue with keys and found someone in our room. Parking fee was not disclosed upon check-in which made for some surprising costs. Toilet didn’t flush, carpet was smelly. Overall, would not recommend for the price
Standard. Expensive
Everyone was really kind! There were homeless people in the parking garage. But the valet took very good care of our vehicle. Our room could have been a lot cleaner. Actually, I had noticed dried blood on the lock of the door and there was blood on our shower curtain. And you could tell our room hadn’t been dusted or vacuumed under the bed. But the staff really is awesome.
Great location
We stay here every time we come to Austin & love it! It’s the perfect location to go to 6th street & they have us free valet parking this time for being a Hilton member!
The staff were amazing! The location was really in a convenient area where things were close to.
The hotel is very old , not so clean the only thing good about it was the staff service -they were very kind yet all the rest needs to improve !! Plus I left my cell phone charger and called the same day and it wasn’t reported at lost & found so I wouldn’t have recomend this hotel
Good location, good price- a little outdated
We were disappointed that our room had no window to the outdoors. Also, the HVAC was very loud. No toilet seat was kind of a nuisance in a small bathroom. No ice on our floor. Also, the sink drained slowly and we saw little bugs in it! The location was convenient - walkable to the capital, 6th Street comedy and music clubs, the park by the river. Beds and pillows were very comfortable! Staff was very friendly.
The hotel room was very small and limited seating options. It was walls and a bed.
Great experience
Clean and utilitarian. Room was well kept and felt comfortable, but I don’t personally care as much for the enclosed courtyard with balcony hallways style as much. Lobby getting a bit shabby. Car dropoff area is very well sheltered and pretty easily reachable by rideshare vehicles.
Unsafe. No efforts to meet customers needs.
Expensive, but nice stay
It nice place to stay
Staff was great and accommodating. Walkable to/from 6th street
The staff were professional but the restrooms were not well kept. The towel rack was loose on the wall of the shower. The room phone didnt work it just had a dail tone.
Great Customer service they make sure I got my bathroom with a tub. when I left something in the room they let me back in my room ,great experience
I barely slept at all the first night due to being in a room that faced the bars/restaurants. I was able to get my room switched the next day but had to rush back (and miss part of a conference I was attending) to do it by noon or was told I would not be able to do it at all. The new room was quieter and clean but smelled awful -- seemed like it was the mustiness of the bathroom due to a lack of fan. Also the hallways were very dim, and the signage wasn't great to direct you to elevators, etc. Ended up feeling a bit creepy and isolated.
Smoke alarm went off in the middle of the night.
It was ok. Clean enough. Tiny pillows on a big bed. Dark hallways. Tiny pool - more like a puddle. Overall I think overpriced. This is a $200 a night place inclusive of taxes. $65 (invlusive of taxes for parking is crazy too!) $45 is enough.
The elevators seem sketchy. Only two of four were working. Consistent Hilton quality of room and amenities, staff great. A couple times on elevator people actually voiced their fearful feelings. Otherwise, property was great.
Great staff! Special thanks to Sami you were wonderful!
It felt cheap for a Hilton but we were not in the room much anyways.
Unexceptionable!
Horrible check in. Reservations were not completed by Hotels.com. Then the Hilton agent didn’t even offer a room. I had to ask if any rooms were available. Then the valet Thomas, adds a second day to my parking after returning for the night. First and last time with Hotels.com and Hilton Gardens.
It was a quiet hotel, clean and very convenient to many local restaurants and bars. However, my least favorite thing was size of pool.
Too far away from the heart of downtown. No glasses in the room and no complimentary water.
Clean room but the hotel and rooms lighting is dark.
I loved the hotel, the staff, the services. It was a great and affordable stay.
Mold and mildew throughout the property and the outside of it smelled like pee
In town for a Longhorn game. Great room, and very nice staff.
The inside of the hotel is great. I wish they would take care of the grounds around the hotel. Cleaning, paint, repair, etc.
Other than paying $65 a night for parking ( make sure you get everything you need from your vehicle because they park it) it was a nice stay
The hotel staff and services were fine. I would avoid this hotel for business travel if your plans change as I was charged for a full stay despite checking out early. Check the policy before booking here if your business plans sometimes change.
Lovely staff and service. Indoor areas were well kept. Not all rooms have windows facing outdoors (mine didn’t) which was too bad, but not a deal breaker since I wasn’t at the room very much. Overall pleasant experience.
We had a bit of a scrambled schedule trying to coordinate 5 old friends from different parts of Texas., but the front desk team made us feel right at home. We all arrived at different times and Gloria at the front desk started working to accommodate a connecting room request on two different reservations. She was able to locate some rooms that would work perfectly for our stay with the help of “the pro” Railys, as she put it. We received great recommendations during our stay, were constantly checked-in with and always met with a smile. The experience was fantastic. The one side note that was unfortunate was that I did have some tools stolen from my truck when I first arrived and parked on the side street outside the hotel. This happened so fast and after I moved to valet, we had no problems. Definitely a condition of the current city condition and area, not the hotel themselves. Overall, Gloria and Railys were a treat. We’ll be back
this hotel is nice
This is a very average hotel, you get what you pay for. My bed was extremely uncomfortable. Overall it was average
It’s a beautiful hotel in general, next time I gotta go swimming in their cool pool
I had a large big crawl out of the tub drain. Informed front desk staff and was told someone would be by to look at it. Never happened. It’s a less expensive option if you want to walk to the Convention Center
Some construction immediately adjacent, but once finished will greatly improve the area.
Small pool homeless walking around the hotel.
I was supposed to get two bottles of water which were not given and even offered to me. The Check-in process was merely average.
Rooms have become so small, bathroom is so tiny. Hard for two people to use.
.
Parking is not included, parking is $55 per night, only valet parking. Pool is super small and not clean at all
Calvin was really nice and helpful during our check in.
The room was not that comfortable
The hotel room itself was not so good. The ac made constant clicking noises which it does not suppose to do. The shower faucet made humming noises and the room location was noisy due to the location near 6th street Austin.. Therefore, I did not sleep well all 3 nights!😩 Also, breakfast should be free and included with tour stay.
Great spot for everything we wanted to do downtown. Most things are within half mile walking distance of the hotel. Only complaint about the hotel was our king size bed had 2 very small throw size pillows with pillow cases on them and 2 standard size pillows. Super small and flat pillows for a king size bed?? We did call down and ask for more pillows which the hotel quickly brought up to us, so this was easily remedied.
Pool water feature wasnt working, which was the reason for our stay
Older hotel but close to downtown.
Staff were rude and ugly when trying to check in
It’s a shady area of Austin.
Excellent customer service. Thanks
The area of town is ok for downtown. Several blocks from restaurants or shops. Campus too far to walk. Rooms are very noisy especially in the morning. Can hear other rooms using their restroom. Water running, toilet flushing, talking, all can be heard very clearly. The restaurant food was delicious but pricey.
Great property with fantastic service and staff. Not a fan of the area immediately behind the hotel, but not a concern as on the weekend, police are present in the lobby.
Convenient to convention center
Location
Great location
Great location. Steps away from 6th street.
Everything was amazing, but the room towels were dirty.
They said there is not parking (acept) motorcycles even if we pay the valet parking
Staff went above and beyond to make our trip great! We were there for the solar eclipse and they opened the roof up for us to view the eclipse as well as provided glasses and drinks! Awesome!
The views were nice at this property. I was on the I-35 side of the hotel on the 17th floor. I had a great view of the sky and the city. Also, the 18th floor restaurant had nice views. The hotel is downtown near 6th street, so it’s kinda dirty in the vicinity, but the location is good. You can walk to plenty downtown spots within minutes.
Everyone is exceptionally nice at this hotel! I was greeted by front desk and valet team members each time I would arrive and leave the hotel each day. Great amenities, quiet places for working, and located in a great area! Definitely will be staying here next time I'm in Austin.
This was a great hotel for the weekend this room was just right wasn’t hot in there . And you couldn’t hear a lot from the other guests as they walk through the hall!
No good parking
Near bars, bass was able to be heard but not invasive and stopped not too late. Valet overnight parking extra fee.
Overpriced parking
We felt unsafe to walk into town yet were very close to town
Hyy
Staff were great but the hotel is dated.
Walk to restaurants
Very nice hotel, OK breakfast
2 nights was enough
Front desk was friendly but not the rest of the staff. Hotel needs to be refreshed. Cracked tiles in the bathroom and broken drain. Not a homely feel.
The property was clean. The space was great in the room. The sitting area outside of the room was dark and cold. The lounge area by the check in was small.
Everything was very clean, but the mattress was not good. It creaked and made noise with the slightest movement and was uncomfortable.
Won’t be back to this Hilton!!
I’ve stayed in many Hilton hotels before for both business and personal travel, but this one I will never stay at again. The first room I was given upon check-in smelled moldy, like a sweaty locker room. The staff did change my room after request, but was pretty irritated in the request to do so. The next room still had an odor, although better than the first, but I still had to check the sheets and pillows before I laid down. The beds make so much noise with every little movement, the temperature couldn’t be regulated (at least in my room), and the noise was so loud until after 2am from the street and a nearby club that it made it impossible to go to sleep. My coworker also stayed her the same night and had the cleaning crew take her dirty towels but never provide new ones. Overall very smelly, old, and dirty with not so great staff.
Overall the hotel was nice, Latrysee was great. My only issue was the parking. The hotel only provide valet parking, the net option was to park at the meter parking(horrible).
Had a good stay, the staff made the difference. It's a hotel, nothing you havent seen before but also not missing anything as far as amenities go. But the staff was very friendly and prepared for any questions i could come up with
Excellent restaurant!
Great view from 18th floor. The restaurant has fabulous food and drinks. Lovely pleasant staff super convenient location to conference center.
Don’t stay here
The power kept going out. Then right before we went to sleep it went out all night. Super hot all night. Woke up and still no power. Sweaty mess.
Deferred maintenance needs addressed.
It was great and staff was very friendly.. loved it
Had a great stay here.
Very friendly staff. Was a high quality stay.
Great experience
I had a great experience at the Hilton Garden Inn. The room was clean and the service was incredible.
Noisy/bed uncomfortable
Staff , freeway entrance , and rooms where good . Around the back of hotel not so clean . 6th street with all the bars and food is very dirty and in. Safe at night , would not take kids . Homeless ness is not good , the amount puke and crazy people on the street during the day is sad that this is what the area has turned into just like Seattle and Portland and LA. The bar in the restaurant sucks , staff awesome … food sucks .
parking overpriced.
Downtown Austin!
I stayed at the Hilton downtown in Austin for a business trip. I received a warm welcome on arrival, a swift check in and a comfortable room. The hotel is slightly dated however a great breakfast and wonderful staff make it very worthwhile to stay here.
Nice hotel in downtown area. Felt very safe in hotel but don’t walk downtown after dark
we had a great time at this hotel. the pool was great. clean rooms and great staff. we really enjoyed the rooftop bar and grill. Anthony was the host and has been the best staff member there the whole week. we enjoyed our time texas but Anthony made it all happen. he gave us recommendations to other great spots, we joked, we laughed, and we didnt want to leave. we cant wait to go see Anthony again. GREATEST BARTENDER EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice property, will stay again
Great price for downtown hotel.
Excellent staff, very personable from valet parking, front desk and breakfast staff. Alexander, Kendall and Dickerson went above and beyond to ensure I had the best experience during my stay, while attending a funeral. 5 star service!!!
Very clean , Quiet and nice staff.
The pool was unsafe and filthy. The restaurant and bar never opened. The mid day and morning staff was nice but evening not so friendly. The room AC was noisy and never cooled down enough. The toilet would not flush unless to stood there holding down the flusher.
Its great how close it is to everything especially 6th street. So many food options around this hotel that you dont have to uber for anything. Staff is helpful.

Not the best
Not the best. Hotel was clean and staff friendly but the Noise level from outside was horrible and you have to pay for parking
