My daughter and I enjoyed our stay very much. The staff were all friendly and courteous. The room was beautiful. The food in the buffet was very good. The beaches were beautifully maintained. My only complaint would be the restaurants: - was difficult to get a reservation. - the food in the steak restaurant was awful. - the Tex Mex restaurant was closed but we were not notified and then had to scramble to get in elsewhere. - the wine and champagne were terrible and I had to pay to get a decent bottle Having said that, I would still recommend this resort.

Upon arriving in Room 8026, which ia a swimout room, I immediately noticed a strong mildew and mold odor, likely caused by water damage in the room. After notifying the front desk, a staff member was sent to spray a product in the room, but unfortunately, this only intensified the odor. The unpleasant smell persisted throughout my entire stay, making the room uncomfortable and negatively impacting my experience. Additionally, I had specifically booked a room with a king-sized bed, but upon arrival, I was given a room with two queen-sized beds. As a result, my husband and I were forced to sleep in separate beds, which was far from ideal. I understand that a king-sized bed became available later during my stay, and while I was initially told that I would be moved, this did not occur. Instead, the available king room was offered to another guest in my party, who was relocated from a swim-up room to a balcony room—an accommodation they did not pay for. In turn, we sacrificed our room and gave it to them to avoid further inconvenience, which left us in separate beds for the remainder of our stay. While I appreciate the gesture of offering us a dinner on the beach as compensation for the bedding issue, the value of this offer was limited. As an all-inclusive resort guest, meals and drinks were already included in our package, so the dinner did not provide meaningful compensation. This experience did not meet the expectations I had for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation.

We really enjoyed our stay. Hideaway was a great way to relax and enjoy the Jamaican vibe. We were dropped off at the Royalton lobby, and quickly whisked away to the Hideaway lobby and checked in. Immediately handed a refreshing drink while our paperwork was pulled up and completed. We were provided our room-key bracelets and taken to our room. Our swim up room was our favorite treat. We were able to swim from our room right to the swim up bar. The Hideaway pool was a great way to break the heat mid day. The room was beautiful, with a soaking jet tub and a double rain fall shower, and his and her sinks. We utilized the closet and little vault (super easy to use). The mini fridge was restocked daily, ensuring we had two varieties of Coke products, lots of water, and two Red Stripe. The bed was really comfortable, although the bedding seems to hold humidity when you or housekeeping shut off the AC. I highly recommend running AC to help keep the room dry and to provide relief from the humidity mid day and before sleeping. We didn’t really use the TV other than to review the accommodations. The restaurants were pretty good. Our favorite was Calypso by a long shot. We had had high hopes for a few of the others, but they the food was just slightly better than OK. I tried steak at 3 of the restaurants, but was disappointed by “doneness”. I had had two near “blue-rear” and one “well done” delivered when “medium-rare” was requested. Sides and drinks were spot on.

The staff at the Hideaway was truly exceptional and went above and beyond to assist me, especially after my incident within their control—they truly deserve recognition and even a raise for their hard work. However, there were a few aspects that could be improved. During my five-day stay, construction workers were frequently blocking the entryway to the dining area, which made it difficult to navigate. As for the food, it was disappointing and reminded me of cruise fare. Even when dining at the specialty restaurants, the menu seemed to mirror what was available in the main hall where no reservations were required. This felt redundant and took away from the experience.

This was a mother/daughter duo trip. Our stay was not what we expected. Some of the staff was great and very friendly, others were not. It was hit or miss. The room was only thoroughly cleaned on the first day. After the first day, they only made our beds, took out the trash and brought towels. We had a group of four girls, I’m surprised they didn’t clean up the hair on the floor. We even left a nice tip for the cleaning lady on the first day. The hallways to the rooms were never cleaned, wouldn’t recommend going barefoot. The elevators smelled and had mold on the walls. The food was ok which we expected. Do NOT recommend eating at the sports bar (it’s worse than frozen apps). The first day we laid on the beach by the main stage and the crew was power washing the stone at the stage behind us for about four hours in the middle of the day so it wasn’t very relaxing. You would think they would do maintenance like that early in the morning when people aren’t quite out yet. The second day we went to the main pool on the family side. Good luck getting served by a bartender from the pool. Waited 45 minutes to be served. There weren’t many activities offered as well. Will not be coming here again, very disappointed. Also, a side note- bring bug spray!! The sand flies are horrible and all of us came home with tons of itchy bites.

During the beginning of our stay, it wasn’t the best. However, after learning about the rain, etc, we understood where the condensation was coming from. Needless to say, we had a wonderful stay at Hideaway. Both Amoy and Odette in guest services did such an AMAZING job with turning around our stay and night. We truly enjoyed the food, I mean THE BEST FOOD on that side of Negril! We loved the atmosphere and the bartender, Clive or Clide was amazing, informative and made some amazing lemon drops and drinks! All in all, we will be staying at Hideaway again

Absolutely loved the room, spacious and clean. The meals were so flavorful and delicious, wide variety to choose from. We spent 5 days at another hotel before heading to Hideaway Royalton, Negril and such a difference with the presentation and taste of the food. Great entertainment at nights with staff encouraging the guests to participate!! My only regret was the beach not much area to have a good swim. Sightings of stingrays put some fear in us, so stayed out the water for long periods of time. Please stock up on condensed milk, some guest rather this than the creamer!!!LOL.

The room started leaking water and the staff placed a bucket in the room and did not notify anyone that same night water started pouring from the roof we spent the night mopping water and the room had a foul odor after. We notify the hotel and they offered to change our room. The buffet area and the hallways was also leaking water when it rained. There is always a shortage of towels when we called for towels it took 6-8 hours at times. Housekeeping left cleaning towels in the room on the sink area and the shower were not cleaned properly soap scum was still seen after “cleaning" of the room.

Snorkeling all around the resort was fantastic! Taking a walk down the beach in bloody bay was a nice bonus. All the restaurants were centrally located and the coffee and gelato shop was open 24 hours. I would’ve have given this place a 5/5, but had some hit or miss experiences with staff courtesy and politeness. Our butlers “Romaine and Susan were amazing!” Also, our driver “Greg” was awesome! Also, special mention to “Keith” who was our host one night at the buffet.

My husband and I are frequent visitors at the Royalton chain. We always book swim-out rooms. This vacation we stayed in room 8031. I wish this review was as good as my previous visits. We came to Jamaica to celebrate my birthday and we weren't able to do much celebrating bc my husband got food poisoning. He was violently sick. He was not able to leave the room. The last meal he ate was at an out door celebration for Bob Marley on the resort where they served food outside. The was the last meal he was able to consume. The next day he could not leave the room. He was weak and lethargic. He vomited and had diarrhea so much that he could barely stand up. He stood in bed and the room the entire day. My apologies for being so graphic but it ruined the entire trip. The following day he was the same way! I was extremely worried bc I knew that traveling home was going to be extremely difficult. Upon checking out I was asked about my experience, I expressed to Brandon/Jessica at the front desk what happened . Jessica then introduced me to Brandon who took my information and told me I should've said something sooner so that my husband's stool could be tested. When you have A loved one that's extremely sick on vacation you first concern is to make sure they are okay and make them as comfortable as possible. Brandon was not empathetic, it seemed as if he was trying to rule out blame on the resort which is odd bc we never left the resort. So disappointed

Our room had a BIG roach in it and we left it there to see if the cleaners would clean it up it stayed there for 2 days. We finally got it up ourselves. The glasses that we had in our room smelled mildew after the maids came in to clean, so they actually probably just wiped the glasses out with a dirty rag. Overall the trip was okay the staff was wonderful the maid that we had was okay. But I will not be revisiting this Resort. The ocean view that I paid for was not Ocean View it had a wall there that will block you from the portion of the ocean if you sat down in the chairs, you will have to stand up the whole time on the balcony. It was not a great ocean view at all. So we end up getting the swim up which cost us another $400. Another thing that I did not like is that we had to walk to the other resort to go on to the beach.

The good....our butlers Melisa & kemar checked on us, answered questions, reserved us dinner. I liked I could text them throughout the day with questions. They were nice and helpful. Five stars for them. Quite a few dinner options. We liked zen, hunter, ocean point bistro. Gift shop had anything you needed. Shows were fun if not quite original. Swim up bars are always fun to have. There was plenty of beach space and chairs, we never had a problem finding a good spot. Check in and out was easy. Loved to make my own cocktail in the hideaway lounge on the way to dinner. It was the only place with decent liquor (think bulleit vs Jim beam). Room was clean, room service quick, bed was comfy. Grounds are immaculate. View amazing. Games poolside could be entertaining. Public bathrooms always very clean and functional. Plenty of bars. l recommend this place, except...... The bad....we lost air conditioning in the entire building for about 2.5 days. Since it doesn't cool off at night, that's rough. All we were told was, they are working on it. The place is very expensive for that. we paid about 5000$ for 5 nights for diamond club, that makes this place expensive enough to expect air conditioning every day. We travel every year 2 times to tropical destinations, mainly Mexico and have never had the air not work, and this was the nicest and priciest we have stayed in. So not good. Also many employees dismissive. No response, no thank yous, just indifferent. Didn't love the attitude.

We stayed at the Hideaway section at Royalton Negril. Upon arrival, check in was fast and easy. We did pre-check in which I believed saved time. This was my third time to Jamaica at an all inclusive resort, but my first time here. Overall our experience was pleasant but there is room for improvement. Food Was decent minus the buffet. Service was good minus in the sports bar. Recommended Improvements- The bars never had mint, lemons, limes etc. They really should work on making sure they are stocked with these daily. They also would run out of certain liquors at times, so drinks were not consistent. Food in the buffet should be kept under heat lamps so that it’s not always cold and it would be nice if they switched some of the options daily. Also, I found that all the different levels offered at the hotel are very confusing and almost offensive. There is Hideaway, Hideaway Diamond Club, Regular Diamond Club, Regular Royalton, Gran Lido, etc. You all wear different color bracelets. It gets confusing to people on where you can go and where you cannot. I had several conversations with guests where we would share a recommendation with them on a bar or restaurant and they would say they aren’t allowed to go there or vice versa. We had a bad experience at one of the bars when ordering a drink. We were denied service since we didn’t have a “black bracelet” after being told by another hotel employee we were allowed anywhere since we are Hideaway guests.

Very nice resort, luxurious. I’ve assumed occupancy of resort depends on time of the year. We are couple in our mid 20s/early 30s. Didn’t see a lot of younger people there. Swim up bar closes entirely to early (5pm) glad we didn’t get swim up room because swim ups looked smaller compared to other resorts we’ve stayed at. No reservations needed for dinner, although we’ve barely ate on resort. Room was very nice, need to upgrade the room service menu. Love that they have hookah and we were able to take it to the room. I’ve noticed if you want turn up and relax vibes stay at a more affordable resort, if you want relax vibes in September this is the resort for you. Esthetics and ambiance was very nice!

A little disappointed as I was expecting so much more from a 5* hotel considering my experiences at other 5* hotels. Rooms and hallways are a little run down and could do with some TLC. The drinks were average to say the least. Customer service was so inconsistent, some days/places you get good service then the next you’re practically invisible in comparison to the white guests that they bend over backwards to serve. My third visit to Jamaica in the past year and this was by far the worst food I’ve had. I never have high expectations of resort food but usually I can count on breakfast to be decent but again, did not quite hit the mark for me. Pointless booking the Hideaway adults only section because most of the restaurants, amenities and all the fun happens over on the Royalton side (with the exception of a beach party on the Hideaway side). The Hideaway pool is small in comparison and the British and Americans are out there reserving the sun beds from the crack of dawn. If you’re not by the pool by 6/7am it’s unlikely you are getting a sun bed for the day. They also play a lot of pop music (for most of the day) and quizzes on the Hideaway side. The Vibes Team really made the difference to my stay and made it enjoyable. If not for them I probably would’ve rated it a 1. They were fun and brought the energy. Overall, just an average ‘luxury’ experience.

The room was not cleaned. The housekeeper insisted she cleaned it however stains were all over the beds. It was nasty!! The mirror had what appeared to be blood. After 4 days we still found no resolution. I will not be back.

Our butler Tiana was great but other than that we will not be returning to Negril or a Royalton! The extra cost to stay in the diamond club was not worth it at all!!! There was on AC in our room so we were taking about 3 to 4 showers daily because we were sweating so much and it left you sticky. A lot of the staff was not friendly and many expected tips after every service and if you only gave $3 they would frown up their face. The location is in dire need of a renovation much of the place is falling apart there are visible large cracks and holes in the concrete outside and in the facility. The rooms aren’t cleaned that well upon arrival I cleaned the room with my products brought from home and my clorox wipes were black from the toilet. The food is subpar the only great food is from Jerk Hut. There were roaches in the room. Food service takes about two hours to come to the room. The hotel really needs to pay their staff more money so that they enjoy coming to work and actually upkeep the property. With better pay the workers would really go above and beyond and wouldn’t be mad when you don’t tip big.

My first impression was not good. There was no elaborate entry into the lobby area for the Hideaway guest like the Royalton side of the resort. The rooms was unkept with chipped and scuffed furniture. One of the sinks in my room was clogged the entire stay and the staff was notified. We had no wash cloths for 4 out of my 6 days. The days we had wash cloths they were stained. There was a jacuzzi style tub in the middle of the room which I did not like and it seems that there was a curtain to close it off from the rest of the room however it was missing but the rods remained. The ice machine room was dirty, the ceiling stained and missing panels also the ice machine was dirty and did not work. I called room service for ice that took over 40 minutes to arrive. The food at the buffet was never hot and it took the staff over 15 minutes to provide soft drinks. The bar staff was friendly and attentive if you sat at the bar but at the beach side not attentive at all. Overall it was very disappointing for the cost of the property.

This review is from the perspective of a geriatric millennial =) Overall, a good resort. Let's start with the food: Don't waste your time with the restaurants on site, the buffet is where it's at! Get some muscles and crawfish- so good! The process to get an alcoholic beverage at times was long, be warned. Some of the restaurants had long waits, or something was wrong in the kitchen, so you could wait forever for your food. The Japanese hibachi place- only place you need a reservation for, and you can only make the reservation that same day. The chefs put on a show for sure, singing, celebrating- it was fun however ... it was HOT in there. Between the stoves going and no AC, I had to go back to our room to change. Bring a fan with you or sit outside and have the amazing food but no entertainment. The room- We stayed on the ground floor, we had a swim up pool and a jacuzzi in the room. Our room was close to the trash it seemed because the first day we got there, the room and the entire area smelled of sewage. Be warned. When people are walking past your room, you can hear it as if they were standing next to you. If you are a light sleeper the constant chatter you hear outside can keep you up. We found a roach in our room the last night. Not a cute look. The tub, there was no stopper. The place: BRING BUG SPRAY. A bottle of OFF at the gift store is 22 dollars. Save yourself some $ and just bring it from home where it's not $22! overall- It's just ok

The property is beautiful! The staff is super friendly. Services are slow…. broken curtain (couldn’t close) took 2 days to repair after numerous calls. My friends room key stopped working, and they had to wait almost 20 minutes in the heat, someone finally came only after my friend threatened to go to the lobby and cause a scene. We both called for bellhop to take our luggage to the lobby, and although it was confirmed, we walked our luggage ourselves only to be greeted by one of the 4 or 5 bellhops standing around as we reached the lobby. I bought a $15 dollar bag of Doritos from the resort store, they were staled! Sorry mon, no refund exchange only! We were told that we didn’t need to make reservations for the restaurants in the property as we checked in……. first thing they ask when you get to the restaurant is, “do you have a reservation”. Now we get put on a waiting list for an hour and a half to eat. We ate breakfast at the recommended Ocean Point Bistro, and although it was early, they were out of everything. The Hideaway pool was awesome! The staff, the drinks, were great! I just wish they had music playing the whole time. There were a lot of silent moments. During the FIFA games, they put 1 tv on the bar facing the sidewalk side so, those of us in the pool could not see the game. You figure, a resort like this can afford to put 2 tvs at the bar.

It was out 2nd time at the Hideaway, the setting is absolutely beautiful. It’s a great place to enjoy sunrises and sunsets, with a couple of drinks and a good meal in between.

The facility is very nice with several sections with Waterview and frontage. The rooms were well-maintained and in good shape. There were some walkways within the resort that needed some attention or damage flooring. Overall a great trip with the only other negative being a long drive from the airport through tough roads.

Stayed in the walkout suite and it was great (highly recommend this)!!!! The steak at the Steakhouse was very poor. Ordered ribeye (med) and it was so tuff. Sent it back and got the same result, but Tamara, the waitress, made our evening great!!! She’s very warm and welcoming. Great customer service and was very sympathetic towards us. Never made us feel like a bother. She made our overall experience delightful! Sasha’Gaye, in reception was thorough, friendly and most helpful!

I thought this property was stunning. The views of the sunrise and sunset are unreal. There is so much to do on the property and so many places to relax. The beaches are beautiful and the service in every area was on point. Also, I typically am not a fan of the food at All Inclusive Resorts but this food was actually really good and there were so many options ! Also the staff made my stay even more amazing. I had two butlers- George and Gayna. Both were super nice and resourceful. I didn't have to book any of the restuarants for dinner as George made all of our reservations each day. He really went above and beyond. Our favorite servers/bartenders throughout our stay were Robert, Tameka, Marisa and Nikko. The people that work there really make the already gorgeous property awesome.

Amazing hotel!!! Booked Hideaway Royalton the first half of the week and Secrets the second half. We wish we had not left Hideaway as the resort/room/food quality were far superior than Secrets. Make sure you visit the Ocean Point restaurant for sunset photos.

Will never ever go to another Royalton property

I could list a dozen reasons why this stay was a complete disappointment but I'll keep it simple: Customer service is absolutely horrible. The food sucks too. We booked a Jacuzzi suite and the Jacuzzi wasn't working. We asked them to simply change our room since we paid extra for that room and wanted to make full use of it. Guest services made us wait hours to finally tell us with a smug face that it "wasn't a big deal" that our tub wasn't usable. Since they weren't willing to switch us to a different room we asked for compensation and they offered us an upgrade to their "diamond club", which is supposed to give you access to a butler and a couple of places on the resort where other guests can't go. It was worthless of course. Then they tried to trick my wife into signing a release absolving Royalton from any liability for the false advertising (tub not working in a premium tub suite). The contempt guess services staff showed for us was ridiculous. Oh and there wasn't any hair dryer in the room and it took about 6 hours to finally get one (well past dinner time). If it was a cheap hotel I wouldn't even care, but an expensive place like this should have necessities in the room. If you go there and pay $1k/night for a couple, just know you're getting ripped off. Go to Hedo (right across the street) or anywhere else basically.

This property was okay. The resort is large made up of three different resorts. The room was nice and the food was okay. The resort was pretty noisy every day which made it hard to relax on the beach. I don’t think this resort is worth the long ride, I suggest staying in Montego Bay similar accommodations without the long ride.

room service was poor. Had a coffee pot that did not work properly. Coffee cups were not left in the room. Had to ask for hand towels and wash clothes after room service. Water pressure in the shower was poor, unless you used only hot water.

Bad- The property and grounds are in poor shape. Busted tile, broken marble, untrimmed vegetation. etc. Service was especially slow as compared to other resort countries, but I’ll give them a pass due to Covid. 4 of the 8 in our group became very Ill, either food or stomach bug on resort. Throwing up and body aches, most lost a day at the resort. Huge threads about this outbreak on Facebook fan pages of the resort. The organization at the buffet is being confusing, with you commonly waiting 1/2 hour standing holding your plate waiting for food. The amount you spend to visit the Hideaway is similar to other higher caliber resorts in Mexico and the DR, yet they routinely offer better services and quality Good- staff is friendly and is willing to engage with you. The beach area at the hideaway Side is cool, with swimming and snorkeling opportunities. The rooms are in good shape and all seem to be oriented for a great ocean view.
