beautiful grounds, lots of wildlife, great restaurant/bar in walking distance very friendly staff, would stay again
Friendly staff
Would stay again
Nice accommodations in Haast. Good location walking distance to a restaurant/bar. Would stay again if traveling back through town.
Excellent place to stop off
Super hosts and pleasant room with everything you could need. We did our laundry for a decent $10 wash and dry.
Lovely location
Lisa was very friendly and helpful when we arrived. Beautiful location and very peaceful. Lisa’s dad Bill is a legend. Had a great chat when we were leaving.
The property was well maintained and the staff we’re very helpful.
A nice welcome by host who gave information re facilities and local eateries. Room was spacious and clean. Mattress was a bit too soft for us and room could have been better sound proofed although ear plugs were supplied
Modeste, mais pratique, propre et sympa
2 night stay
Everything you need. Lots of amenities to be able to cook if you want to. Friendly check in and support offered about the area.
Checks all the boxes
If you're staying in Haast overnight on your trip, this place has everything you want in a small town motel. It's clean, it's comfortable, you can park in front of your unit, and it has surprisingly fast wifi given the location and the warnings in the guest handbook. Suzie, the owner, knows her part of NZ very well and helped plan a great day of local sightseeing on the way out. I would be happy to stay there again.
Excellent room, comfort of bed was great, both slept very well, well appointed room & size. Everything we needed to heat our tea was there, microwave, microwave dish, plates, spoons, toaster, good tasting water etc. Manager helpful with walk information, so made a nice 13km walk to start the day.
Friendly informative Clean Comforting heat
Older property that is very clean and basic. Very friendly and informative about the area. The location is very convenient.
The whole property and rooms needed a huge updating. The dining was very expensive and not good value for the money we did spend on meals. I would not recommend that anyone stay there. Promised lots online booking and didn't deliver.
Nice room with kitchen facility , free laundry. Very nice
Nice place
Tired accommodation but clean, adequate accommodation. Friendly, helpful staff.
Comfortable bed. Clean bathroom.
Great place to stay and friendly people
Terrific lodging in a beautiful area!
Very nice quiet place and clean. Recommended.
Hotel was a pleasant surprise. Very well maintained, extremely clean. Recption was friendly and offered suggestions to eat.
Good value for money, older place with smAll rooms
place was fantastic, hosts were very welcoming & the local pub was fantastic, would definitely stay again
The property was conveniently located to the amenities of Haast. The room was nice and tidy with parking outside the room. The owners were very lovely and friendly and very helpful. I will definitely stay there again.
Cool
OK for the price, nice owners.
Excellent location and well sheltered. Close by to mini market and meal providers.
I like the view from my room onto a lovely grassy area and forest. People could look in on you in your room as they walked past.
Recommended "old school" motel!
Pro's: A typical small town motel. Clean room, Lovely owners. Best part is after dark.. If you get a clear night you can actually see the galaxy banding. Never in 50 odd years have I seen such a night sky... Con's: Room is a showing its age a little, the humidity is hard to combat on a warm night, though there was a fan to help, which other, more expensive, motels failed to provide on our tour.
Very limited choices
The property is up for sale and the units are rather run down. Haast itself is a great disappointment, it is scattered in about 3 separate locations.
A good travel break when travelling along the West coast. Close to shops and pubs. Keep your doors closed as midges love this area. Plenty of walks and things to do
The lady who checked us in was incredibly rude regarding the fact I had brought my dog with me even though it clearly states it's a dog friendly property. I had mistakenly omitted to tell the Motel when booking that I had a dog with me (I had a long trip with lots of bookings and it was a genuine mistake) and she was shockingly rude - so much so that if I had anywhere else to go I would have done. Otherwise room was average - clean but basic - quite noisy as rooms above us and reception/owner property next door.
Beautiful part of the world, great place to spend a night, staff couldn't be friendlier and assist more
Beautiful setting, nice location, friendly hosts, clean
Ok
The stay was ok. Wouldn't stay there again as too much rattling noise from doors and windows.
Trish was so helpful right from the start with local tips. Very friendly people and a nice place to stay
A pleasant place to stay. Close to a good restaurant and easy access.
Tidy friendly people and we could have our dog there as well awesome
The property is well located in an area of limited resources. Pleasant but a little “tired”
Clean and comfy but a little dated. Overall good value for money
Beautiful views. Quiet at night. Bed very soft so did not sleep well. Bathroom very dated and steam damaged cabinets and stained sink were off putting. No dishwashing soap supplied to wash up crockery and utensils used.
Was very convenient, clean, pleasant and comfortable.
The property was clean and works well for two families .
Older style place but clean & tidy so all is good.
Very short walk to The Hard Antler pub. Our unit was extremely small and we found the Frontier Pub at the Heartland hotel at the beach more to our liking - much better service, lots of locals and the food offerings were great!
Great hosts and accomodation. Thanks Blair and Jen, we will be back
There was an unexpected and unexplained power outage. Likely nothing to do with the owners as it looked like the town was impacted. What would have been nice was that the owners checked and said “Sorry about that, everything ok” given it’s a small motel and would have taken them 5-10 min. No tv reception for a good 30 min afterwards as a result. The owners were not interested in whether things were ok or not during the stay. Also the area is full of mosquitoes and in the guest book says to keep doors and windows closed as a result. That’s fine but when we arrived every single door and window was open and so the rooms were FULL of mosquitoes. Again doesn’t seem to bother the owners.
Location is excellent. Staff is helpful. Faculty is old.
Good
It was good and convenient for our needs. The staff helpful.
Very over priced for a big garage with walls. I could hear the people in the next room pass wind. I would not stay there again.
People were very friendly and the room was clean-good midway stopping point on our travels-not much in walking distance.
This property needed updating badly. The queen bed w a s so worn I could feel the springs. There was no working light over the bathroom sink and no tissues or paper towel or napkins were supplied. My husband and I both woke to severe allergies as the mattress, drapes and blankets appeared very old and not very clean. Very disappointed.
Large room with comfortable bed.All facilities required. Only drawback (minor) was that noise from adjacent rooms was quite noticeable.
Good overnight stop
Motorcycle friendly. Quick and efficient check in. Good sized rooms. Restaurants nearby. Service station about 2kms away
Clean, functional accommodations with friendly staff.
Old, run-down location. Thin walls and could hear people next door snoring. Bed mattress was terribly outdated, thin, coils poking out, and extremely uncomfortable. Needs work and updates. Very expensive, poor quality. Do not recommend anyone stay here.
Wouldn't recommend this
This is a very basic small room and not good value for money.
It was fine. You should not ask for a minimum of 50 characters.
The place was reasonably priced clean and tidy. Sandflies we abundant take insect repellant. the pub food down the road was average
We were only here for a quick sleep but the grounds were beautiful and made for a relaxing evening after a long day of driving and hiking.
An older place. Basic, ie: no end tables by the beds, no headboards on the beds. Good bbq, pleasant, helpful owners. The pink counter top was fun, but very dated.
Make haste from Haast.....
It was a warm day when we checked in. The helpful owner advised us to cover up as there are loads of biting insects (sandflies mainly) and to keep windows / doors closed. The very tired room has no a/c so, with that advice in mind, the room must at least have a fan right? Wrong. No alternative except to spray everywhere. Not one we will be returning to.
Comfortable, clean, roomy, enjoyed our stay. Would book again
Much better than I expected, all was clean and comfortable, check in was easy and pleasant,
Comfortable, Friendly
Stayed for one-night on our road trip, as an alternative to staying at either Fox or Franz Joseph Glaciers. Rooms were roomy enough and comfortable. No issues, pricing was a bit higher than to be expected, but it was high season summer. There's not much around Haas, and near here there's only a convenince store & take away food. On our night the pub on the corner was shut due to some technical issues, so drove 3km to the Junction, which still served meals late into the evening.
Great accommodation and good advice of what to see and do in the area.
Lovely motel, pleasant to check in, very helpful in directing us to local eateries. We had a very comfortable night in a nice room surrounded by gorgeous grounds alive with birdsong...and cicadas!
Reasonable stay
The hotel is in a reasonable position relative to the town centre. Reception was helpful. On the day of arrival I could not park my car directly outside my room because someone else has parked across the laneway. The laundry door was locked at 9pm even though the cloth dryer was still working at the time to dry our washing so I have to wait until next day to get our clothes back.
Accommodation was smaller than expected but very clean and had adequate facilities.
Great overnight stop but not a lot in Haast. Lovely views from room and very feiendly owners.
Lovely motel to stay in the center of town. Walking distance to all the shops and food outlets. You do hear all the helicopters coming and going but that does not disturb you during the night. You can see the clouds coming in low over the valley from our room which aďds to the atmosphere.
Very basic and clean. Very 'old' time motel decor.

A quick stop so didnt get to see much if Haast as it was also raining. The accomodation was great, very cute with just what was needed for a 1 night stay.
