Good stay for the price and location.

We had to change to another room as the toilet would not flush and the sink would not drain. They were very quick to give us another room. There was a renovation done since the last time we visited and honestly it felt kind of cramped. I had to duck to get past the wall-mounted tv and the bathroom is very squishy. But, perfect location. Close to everything and quiet and clean.

Amenities and great location

We were very impressed with the suite. It has a separate bedroom and living room, as well as a large, well-equipped kitchen with a full-size range and fridge. This was more than we needed but it would be great for a longer stay. The beds were comfortable but very high so they are difficult to get into if you are shorter or older. We asked for a stool and the staff found one for us. The location is perfect. It is a block from the Empress Hotel, the Royal BC museum and Imax Theatre plus across the street from Beacons Hill Park. Within walking distance from stores and restaurants.

Loved it all except parking -exceptionally tight spots!!

The only aspect that wasn't good had to do with trying to get our little one to sleep. The lights outside were super bright, there was a particular walkway/doorway light that was within a couple feet of the window; the blinds weren't effective at stopping the light from coming through. We didn't bring enough black out curtains to get the multiple windows. Overall, if we didn't have our child with us, we'd consider staying there again. We liked the location (our white noise machine did a decent job blocking out the car/traffic from the street and adjacent parking lot).

I liked the location of the hotel across from the park and close to downtown. However one should be aware that it’s also located on a very busy intersection with buses and trucks going by at all hours of the night. If you’re a deep sleeper or half deaf, then it should be no problem for you!

Many stays here, like it a lot

Great location for access to downtown Victoria, beacon hill park and cook street village. A little noisy on the corner of a busy intersection but it was quiet at night. The hotel was accommodating when we had to cancel the first night of our stay due to an illness. Parking was an additional cost.

A Gem!!!

This was a hidden gem!!! Spacious room, fabulous bed, a kitchenette - which was important as we are on a restricted diet - and cute. It was a wonderful find. Just note - not suitable for people needing accessibility - you have to walk up stairs and there is no elevator. Otherwise perfect!! Would stay there again.

It was right downtown and close to sites. Also convenient to restaurants and shopping!

Very nice having a kitchen in the room

Everything was great except the noise...you could unfortunately hear everything from the hallway and the road. If you are an early riser it is probably fine though.

Short But Wonderful Stay

The accommodations were lovely - our suite had a bedroom, great sitting area as well as a well equipped kitchen area. It was incredible clean and quite pretty. The location is excellent in downtown Victoria but tucked away in a cosy neighbourhood

Wry nice kitchenette room. Old use some towel bars by the sink or on the bathroom. Would stay again.

We loved everything about our stay. One small suggestion - an electric kettle would be the icing on the cake.

Love this hotel. As someone who lived in Victoria for over a decade, it’s weird to book hotels here now! But the Helms Inn is awesome. Clean, quiet, perfect location, parking, I love it! We had the 1 bedroom suite with two queen beds and it was all conspicuous and having the full kitchen was great!

Stayed a few times and never disappointed with service, room, parking, cleanliness etc. Great location walking to downtown or Beacon Hill. Spacious and updated rooms and very comfortable beds.

We were upgraded to a suite, but we actually preferred the room we had last year as it was more spacious. Other than that, it's a wonderful hotel.

I stayed her for 6 days with my Husband while visiting my Son, I honestly could not have picked a more suitable place. The room was absolutely gorgeous and I loved the kitchen which allowed us to cook a lot of our meals. It was within walking distance to everything and was such a gorgeous, quiet place to stay. I loved that they also had laundry facilities and fresh fruit and tea and coffee downstairs and a lovely little patio out back and at the end of our hallway. I cannot wait to go back as this will be the only place I stay from now on and I have told a couple of my friends about it who also visit Victoria.

Perfect location for access to Inner Harbour and all its nearby attractions. Helms Inn is on a busy street, so the traffic noise can be heard. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful.

This is a quaint little Inn. Its very clean and they seem to be doing renovations to upgrade the property. The staff is friendly and very helpful and the property is in a perfect location. Walkable to so many of Victorias sights. My only complaint was thay it wasn't very sound proof and when the room above was occupied it was a bit noisy.

Very convenient to the harbour. Staff are very friendly. Suites are well equipped.

Nice clean accommodation. Friendly staff. Well priced for the location. Only downside there are no elevators to upper floors which could be a challenge for some guests. Parking was a challenge on site both nights with the lot being very full. Have not had that issue there on previous stays so perhaps an anomaly. Overall a good choice for the downtown harbour location.

Rooms are updated and comfortable, and staff is helpful and professional. Pleasant smaller hotel. Only concern was that floors creak fairly loudly. If that doesn’t bother you, it’s a non-issue.

The location of the Helms Inn is ideal - it is right across the road from Beacon Hill Park. It is walking distance to the seashore and also walking distance to downtown Victoria and all the restaurants.

Large room, comfy beds, quiet

Was fortunate to get into my room about 40 minutes before check in time. Room was clean and nice that bedroom was separate from TV area and kitchen areas....wish they provided actual coffee cream vs "white death" packets!

I visit Victoria often. This is my first stay here at Helm’s Inn and love it. Nice and clean and the front desk staff is excellent.

The property was in a great location to get around by foot in Victoria. The room was clean and great size for the two of us.

Our favorite place to stay in Victoria. We always book the double suites and love how the bedroom is separated from the kitchen (which is fully stocked with supplies). Highly recommend!

The Inn is in a perfect location. Close to the harbor, shopping, restaurants and attractions. The rooms are immaculately maintained by the staff!

Perfect location for wandering around Victoria….kitchen is an added bonus. Also the umbrellas were much appreciated! Cora’s for breakfast was a short walk away.

Very nice and roomy. Did not get to use the kitchen but the full-size refrigerator/freezer was a plus. The tub was very clean except there was a tiny bit of pink stuff on the wall right above the tub that needed to be cleaned as well as the tub stoppers in the cupboard under the sink. Overall we would stay here again. Staff very friendly and helpful. They recommended a good breakfast place that was awesome!

Great room with kitchen, comfy beds and lots of space. Parking was limited and we had to get a special permit for the overflow lot.

Staff was great very friendly and helpful. Location was great. However property has no elevator so we had to carry our bags up 3 flights of stairs. No issue for us but for older seniors maybe a problem. We stayed in a King Suite. Had a kitchen with fridge and stove.Kitchen supplies could have been better. No spatula, Very dull knives, no knife sharper, Couple of other kitchen supplies missing. Trim around micowave missing. All minor things. Beacon Hill park kitty corner to Hotel. Museum just around the corner. Everything else very close walk. Hotel is on 2 main roads so can be noisy. Free coffee on lobby a nice touch. Overall we enjoy our stay. Need a little love to repair the minor issues in the room. The service and staff made up for the minor issues.

Floors are not sound proof. Late night and early mornings, We could hear stomping and pacing back and forth from the rooms above. It’s very unfortunate when you don’t get good sleep while on vacation. I complained to front desk on the second day but was told that the people in the room above had already checked out.

Definitely needs updating and people with mobility issues don’t have an elevator. Always a reliable place to stay

the Helms was very accommodating to our early arrival. Parking is tight if you have a bigger automobile. No elevator to our room on 2nd floor. The room was very clean and had everything we needed.

The property is a short walk from downtown Victoria and right next to a large park! The hotel room was spacious; including a living room separate from the bedroom and also an efficiency kitchen that was well equipped for making meals. The person at reception was kind and efficient.

We had to move rooms due to construction/noise next to our room. (From Room 206 to 304). We were not given any notice of construction prior to check in. However, we did definitely enjoy our stay at Helms Inn. In addition, we were comped / refunded one night's stay due to the disruption of construction noise. We thank the staff and management for this generous compensation!!

Loved our stay! Wish we had warmer weather to take advantage of the private patio just outside our sliding doors.

Excellent location for the marathon weekend. Didn’t like my room on the bottom level, I could smell cigarette smoke drifting in from the cars at the stoplights. Everything in the room was in good working order, it had the things I needed to make simple meals, a large fridge freezer and stove. The bathroom was very clean. The tables were a little dusty and the chairs need new covers or just get plastic ones they really showed their dirt. Overall great location, that is the main selling feature.
