Located in the heart of Las Penas Guayaquil, this property has an ideal location for walking the city and seeing the sites. The staff was very accommodating and provided a scrumptious breakfast to start the day. The views of the river are superb.
The staffing was wonderful
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we felt like royalty. Everything went as planned and my sons 11th birthday party was a success they even made him pancakes for breakfast ! thank you so much for making this such a memorable stay. We will absolutely be returning ! 10/10 recommend
I absolutely loved the decor! The large doors at the entrance are exquisite! The wall decor inside is fascinating! The bedroom was pristine and beautiful with a wonderful view of the water and a tree full of iguanas. The terrace had a beautiful view of everything!
The hotel is situated in the area called Las Peñas. A beautiful cobblestone street line with galleries and bars. The 5th /top floor is a nice family apartment with 2 bedrooms each with a bathroom and private access to the pool on the floor below. The posterior of the 4th floor. The pool is narrow but enough to keep cool. The staff is welcoming and Rosy, the cook/ housekeeper took very good care of us with a welcome drink and fruit cup at arrival. There was a very tasty breakfast in the morning with fresh bread/butter/marmalade and your choice of eggs/omelette, fresh juices and coffee. What a great treat. The place is within walking distance to the entrance of the Malecon 2000, the Tram and the 444 steps/light house. In the opposite direction there is an array of great restaurants
You cannot do better in Guayaquil. Perfect location, beautiful property and the staff treated us like royalty. We had found a blog post about the top 15 things to do in Guayaquil, 7 were within walking distance and one was the actual street the property is on. We tried to extend our stay but they were already booked, no surprise after a couple days there. We stayed in the deluxe apartment and it was worth every penny, in fact it was worth many more! Loved it!
Lovely property with excellent, friendly staff and delicious breakfasts. Great location for walking to the Malecón and other sites. Our room on the first floor in front was quite noisy as it was just above a busy pedestrian thorough fare and right over the garage. Ask for a room on third floor or above in back if noise bothers you. I would stay here again but not on first floor.
The penthouse was severely outdated.
no privacy and worms all over the room and wifi not working
Wow! What a fabulous location with art galleries, food galore, waterfront walking and interesting views. Beautiful rooms, comfortable beds, lovely hosts. Breakfast on the terrace was wonderful.
Manager was very helpful with assisting with COVID testing. Breakfast was good. Very nice staff.
Locatwas excellent. There was an excellent view and so was the service
The view makes it all worthwhile
Great hotel! Excellent staff very friendly and courteous. Always ready to help. The view for breakfast was amazing
Überraschen grosszügige Räumlichkeiten. Ruhige Lage. Freundliche Bedienstete.
It’s a beautiful place in the heart of Guayaquil. Very nice staff and the swimming pool is a dream with the wonderful view!
Terrific
Would stay again
Great little hotel. They sent a taxi for pickup ($15) which was helpful. Grrat neighborhood. Super welcoming. Comfortable room. Delicious cooked breakfast. Highly recommend!
Wonderful staff and location. The breakfasts are amazing. The building needs better cleaning and maintenance as a whole, but I would consider staying again
Excellent experience !
Perfect stay on Guayaquil, Ecuador
Our stay was perfect! Friendly staff, wondeeful breakfast, great views.
The variety of rooms and layouts were nice. The room I had this time was gorgeous, complete with kitchen, a balcony view of the river and cobblestone street below, which had artisan shops along the path. The kitchen was complete with oven and refrigerator, washer, dryer, vacuum cleaner and plenty of cupboard space and dishes and pans.
Although I had booked two months in advance the property overbooked my room. When I got to the hotel they blamed Expedia and said I should’ve booked directly with the hotel instead. I only found out after I tried to check in and they offered a downgraded room. I then had to carry my luggage around and find another place. On the positive note they did refund me my money.
Beautiful property and well organize and unique view from the terraces
Very well located property. Staff extremely hospitable and ready to provide great service.
The modern and spacious interior was amazing! Love the vibes of this property!
Puedo resumirlo en dos palabras: súper - espectacular.
Muy buena atención, el desayuno muy rico , todo muy lindo
Bestt accommodation in Guayaquil
We were greeted like family. Nothing was too much trouble and the accommodation is beautifully situated with river views in the historic part of the city. An added bonus, no traffic noise.
Location Location Location
Location and space are amazing. Staff is extremely attentive and caring. Best place to staying Guayaquil
Best place in Ecuador
The place, service and food was all amazing !
This hotel was absolutely lovely! Great location, excellent service, super convenient they were able to pick us up from the airport. The breakfast was the best I've had in Ecuador. Our US stomachs were able to drink the hotel's water, juices, and fruit without any problem. Don't forget to try the lemonade! The hotel staff is very attentive and provided lots of recommendations for our trip.
The service is amazing, it’s totally different that a regular hotel.
Little gem in best spot in town
This reconverted house is stunning, with beautiful river views, modern design and great location. Fantastic welcome snack and drink and morning breakfast on the balcony. The room was large and beautiful but freezing cold at night because of the aircon that could not be switched off. Staff were very helpful.
Staff were incredibly welcoming, accommodating, and helpful! After carrying our bags up the three flights of stairs they treated us to a cup of fruit and beverages. Everything was super clean and fresh. Showers were hot and roomy. Breakfast was cooked to order and delicious! Although not English speakers they always had Google Translate handy to compensate for our poor Spanish. Very reasonably priced. We were very impressed and would not hesitate to recommend the Black Castle Guest House to anyone coming to Guayaquil.
Wonderful! Luis was a fabulous host Great breakfast. Would highly recommend. There is no elevator so you must be able to walk up stairs, but it is so worth it. Would definitely stay there again..
The staff goes beyond the expectations. They do whatever it take so you can be confiortable. They are very hard workers. They provide an exceptional customer service better than anywhere else. This is no the ritz but the rooms are very updated and clean the most important aspect. May be the only downside is the hotel is at the 3rd lleven but the guys will take of The baggage and I can guarantee you they could bring you up if you ask for help.... because they want you to feel comfortable ( sometimes better than home!)
Great place, great location, great price
The Black Castle is a gem, newly renovated, clean, quiet (at night), affordable, right on the riverfront opposite the Plaza Malecon. It has one of the best breakfasts (included) I have ever gotten in a hotel. There are two small balconies overlooking the street, one is off one of the guest rooms, the other off the breakfast room. It is family owned, they are courteous, friendly, and eager to please. At least one of them speaks perfect English. The Hotel does not have a sign, and does not look like a hotel, but Google Maps or the Uber app places you within about 30 feet of the entrance and if you look puzzled there is what appears to be a doorman that will ask “Black Castle?” The hotel is on the 3rd floor with no elevator, but someone will grab your luggage and carry it up or down.
Very nice staff. Great room. Will stay here again.
It was a lovely little gem of a guest house! Very conveniently located and the staff were so helpful and friendly. We really lovely the complimentary drinks as well, a great touch. Could do with an elevator but that's a minor thing.
Good people nice treatment
Excelente personal.
We had a perfect stay! Spent two nights before leave for the Galapagos. Couldn’t have asked for better accommodations and the team running it were all so very kind and helpful. Highly recommend! Delicious breakfast too!
