Bit up by bugs!

Horrible! This place was trashed! Trash everywhere! My husband and i both got bit up by bugs. We only stayed 1 night but paid for 3. His hand is still swollen from the bites 2 days later. I have photos, but hotels.com's review page won't let me add them. Do not stay here there are far better places just 10 minutes away.

I’ve had to live here before from may of 2023 to Aug 2023 and it was wonderful. My kids were having homecoming so I booked a stay here for the weekend since we had such a great experience the first time. We checked in fine but when we got to the room there was this odor. We opened windows and lit candles it helped. The next day we came out of our room to plastic everywhere like we were wrapped in plastic. No one told us anything it was inconvenient especially when we finally got out and came back to them painting the stairs red in the rain. It tracked all in the hotel carpets floors and got on our clothes. I did notify the front office and asked for something to clean it up with. We did our best to clean it up but I’m sure the carpets will need deep cleaned if not stained. I just felt the hotel room could have looked a little better. They could have let us know they were going to do maintenance in the stairs or it could have been done after we checked out, but overall we had a good time staff is always professional and very accommodating. There’s an African American lady with locs who is always a real one. Very professional and always dots her eyes and crosses her t’s.

Staff was very nice and helpful whan listening to my concerns. Otherwise, not a good experience.

The company REALLY needs to remodel their rooms, they are the same as they were twenty years ago, when they were very nice, stained floors, chipped furniture, water leaking from bathroom ceiling,sportscourt dismantled, landscaping unkept, building brand new Candlewood right next door, only undesirables will be staying here now! Won't consider Hawthorn Suites anymore again.

Terrible room smelled bad

It was HORRIBLE!!!!!! BROKEN THING; Phone, stove, cabinet, bathroom sink (no water), sliding door, wifi, blow dryer. DIRTY THINGS; EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!! COUCH, WINDOWS, BATHROOM, PILLOWS, WALLS, WINDOW SEALS, CURTAINS CARPET. When I called the off rhey said theynwould send someone out to dix rhe broken things. Guy shows up and trys to enter the room without knocking (luckily the door was latched) it scared TF out of my kids. By the time i made it to the door he was gone. At that point I choose to stay posted outside the door. He walked pass and I asked if he was the person who came to our door. In broken English i gathered that the feont deak sent him to the wrong room.

This place should not be open for business. It was absolutely filthy and the smell in the room was enough to make someone sick.

Ok for an extended stay. Worked for me due to location. It does show its age and a makeover is due. Plus, Covid is behind us. Open your pool and go back to full-service breakfast

Awful! Very dirty and looks nothing bc like the pictures. After check in I went to cancel my room and they told me no, to call Expedia. I’m currently in a dispute. Do not stay here and if Hawthorne reads this review, do the right thing and refund my stay.

The website pictures are very outdated. There is no pool, there are people hanging around the parking lot. No safe place to walk dogs. Landscaping not taken care of. Didn’t spend one night there. I need to be refunded money I did give the hotel for false advertisement!

The floors were filthy, our feet were black from the dirt. The pull out couch was a very small worn down futon, not even able to sleep on. There were alcohol bottles out sitting and litter on the steps on the way to the room. The 2 rooms we were in had a terrible smell. We checked out the next morning and went elsewhere.

Our room could not have been cleaned before check-in. Had to clean blood off the nightstand, white residue off the coffee table, the carpet hadn't been swept, stove/oven neither one work, paint chipping off the walls, walls are nasty dirty, toe prints on the headboard, light fixture hanging from ceiling, carpet smells. Not to mention the area outside is run down and dirty. This is a place for drug addicts and those who cant get an apartment. It is not a nice place. When i told the lady at the front desk about the problems with the room, i was met with a "what do you want me to do about it?" response. This property is worth MAYBE $50 a night and thats being generous. Please DO NOT stay here if you have children. Its a health hazard.

Roachtel motel

Found roaches in kitchen and bathroom absolutely disgusting would rather have slept in my car

This property is awful. Our room was extremely dirty. The shower would not turn on and when the "maintenance" person showed up they were extremely rude about it and just said to wiggle the handle. My husband also found numerous parts of various kinds of bugs all ove the bed, under the covers. We left and had to find a different hotel.

I thought when I booked the room at this hotel, it was going to be quite nice. However, it wasn’t that at all. By the time I checked in I could tell it was a place where people stay for a length of time I could smell weed smoke everywhere And people were hanging out side all night long. The counter had a lot of cigarette burns and the stove was not properly working. I’m sorry to say I would never stay at this hotel again.

Its very dirty seen roaches have mutiple pictues to show of how disgusting it is here its very uncomfortable very loud kids everywhere loud all night and day the fisrt day i came was locked out of my room 3 times due to lock being complety broken off the switched me rooms and there was roaches in the kitchen at one point was on my food last night there were cops and caution tape from im guessing someone being hurt stabbed or murdered theres drug baggies all over the propery people fighting all the time the entrance is a car death trap due to my car sitting low so my bimper gets hit everytime i pulled in theres way more on top of sll of this a refund or complimentary stay for the amont of tome i have and i do hsve a bokking set up in may from the 4th to the 7th theres no way i want yo stay then either

Do not stay!

Not only was the room insufficient the area was not safe, as well as there was evidence of drug usage in it. I have 4 young kids with me, the lights would not turn on and I was not comfortable even waiting long enough to take photos. I instantly went to the front desk, explained the lights were not working and the neighboring room was incredibly invasive and made myself and my children very uncomfortable and we left.

It wasn’t very clean and half of the lights didn’t work and some of the furniture was broken. The beds and bathrooms were the only thing that was clean. I wouldn’t recommend staying there

Never ever stay here...our place was horrible..1st off it smelled of heavy pot smoke and we had 3.kids under 12 stayi g with us. Carpet was torn..holes in it...everything in it was old..needs updated very badly...bathrooms need alot.of work...again..never ever stay here!!!!

Had to move from one gross room to another. Owner refuses to refund my money. Won’t even refund to Expedia rep. Rooms are NOTHING like the pictures. I’m out $275 and no one will give it back. Had to move to an acceptable hotel because after moving once to a new room, my daughter’s asthmatic friend could not tolerate the smoke smell in the “better room”. Absolutely horrible and customer service is not there. Called corporate for Wyndham, “they’re looking into it”. I just want a refund. This will not me my only post about this insanity and falsely advertised location. My brother’s best friend is a lawyer who will glad to take the slum lords to court just to keep them from duping other people. They have no idea how much it’s gonna cost them when the health violations come in. Could’ve just refunded my money. Good luck and I hope you clean stuff up so no one gets sick. You can fix it or the call goes in. You have until Sunday before I tell Jake to file papers.

The staff I encountered were friendly and efficient. The property was likely fantastic when newer but is pretty worn out now. Coffee maker worked fine. Refrigerator and freezer were cold. There was a fireplace but I didn’t even investigate to see if it was functional. The bed was made up nicely and clean. Sufficient consumables we’re on hand -to, soap, shampoo, etc. the room had a unusual aroma that became unnoticeable after awhile. I would actually stay here again due to the convenient location and staff, but I wouldn’t bring my family as they wouldn’t overlook the shortcomings.

It was so dirty we found another place. I was forced to pay a night I didn’t stay because I booked through Expedia. I want my $128 back!

Thought this would be a nice place to stay based upon the pictures, but they were very deceiving. When I first arrived there was someone in the lobby complaining so I should have seen this as a red flag. To check in you have to have everyone in the rooms ID. There were people just hanging around in the parking lot and I did not feel safe. They have a "security guard" that patrols in a beat up car. First thing when getting to the room it smelt so bad it was hard to breathe. The room was extremely dirty the floors had so much built up gunk on them. I then noticed I got charged a significant amount when I had already paid. I went to ask and the woman at the desk was extremely rude. The guy in front of me could not get checked in because his wife did not have her ID and they were 7 hours from home. The woman at the desk and the security guard kept telling him "well that is just how it is" when there was no indication ANYWHERE that everyone in the party over 18 needed their ID. Staying here was an absolute nightmare between the charges, area, safety, and lack of cleanliness. Do not stay here.

The first room had not been cleaned. The 2nd room looked dirty and smelled like smoke and urine. I asked for a refund and left.

The room has a bad smell, the a/c barely works, kitchen area is dirty. The staff seems nice, I wish they had a better room to move us to.

Disgusting and incredibly dirty

Upon arrival one of my kids said (jokingly) that there was blood on the top sheet. So thinking I should check and also look for bed bugs, I pulled back the bottom sheet and mattress protector. They were loaded with disgusting stains. The microwave had splattered cleaning spray?? on it as though someone had sprayed it but never wiped it off. There was a cockroach in the microwave and evidence of cockroach droppings all throughout the cabinets. Some device was plugged up with Kleenex. The dirty air filter in the AC closet had not been disposed of and it was clear that it wasn't changed regularly. We immediately checked out and were told they would not refund our money. This place was $199 for ONE night and looked like it should be a $39 no-tell motel.

The room was kind of gross. The kitchen floor was sticky from previous guest. Front desk gave me sheets in a garbage bag. Pool and hot tub wasn’t enough to entice my kids to want to stay another day. Waffle iron broken at breakfast. Off centered toilet was hard to use. Creepy security guard actually made it feel less safe. What was there a security guard? I’ve stayed alot of places and travel a decent amount. I just can’t recommend this place. The people were pleasant and nice. So I gave it 3 stars. Maybe too kind. I felt like the pictures were nicer. The number scheme for the rooms and direction to the room were confusing.

Sadly Disappointed

The pictures online were completely misleading We were upgraded to "the Penthouse" because our room we reserved was not available. I believe this is the case because so many people permanently lived at the hotel. The room was as clean as it could be but smelled like marijuana was in all of the fabric. The downstairs toilet didn't work correctly although they tried to fix it we were not able to use it without overflowing. There were no dishes to use in the kitchen. One morning half of the room was without power and we found a breaker had tripped. The coffee maker was dirty, the furniture was worn and the side chair had a ripped cover. We felt unsafe at the property. If my husband had not been with us we would not have stayed there.

We checked in went to our concert then went back to the hotel and drove back home - didn’t even stay. Terrible location, broken furniture, cabinets busted - zero stars

We booked a suite for our trip was not what was pictured. The refrigerator banged on and off all night no microwave in room there was a stove but no dishes so we could no even warm up food the pool was closed until next year and the bed was not comfortable I know they said they are remodeling but would not recommend it for the price

Friendly staff, convenient location

Hotel staff were great, very friendly and helpful. WIFI was a a bit spotty - better off using mobile hot spot. The hotel was undergoing renovations, but that did not impact our stay. Not the ritziest place to stay, but had everything we needed and was in a convenient location.

Large house party in the unit below us at 330 in the morning. Place felt more like a public rental to live than hotel.

Property is not what is shown online. No jacuzzi exists. Homeless people wandering around. Questionable people living there. Rooms smell. Rickety wooden stairs outside. No elevators. Hotels close by being torn down. Wouldn't refund all money even though we never stayed due to dirtiness and unsafe feelings.

Let’s start by saying the only thing good about our rooms were the linens on the bed and the towels were clean, hot hot water, and the layout of the rooms. As for that, don’t take your shoes off. Yuck When you walk in, your greeted with the foulest smell from the room, mixture off stale beer/cigarettes /dope/and mold, this does NOT go away during the stay. This place is run way down, which is a-shame because the facility used to be our favorite place to stay many years past. Not anymore. Stairs were rickety, paneling dry rotted, curtains stained and kitchen appliances were not inviting. Outside, People drinking and smoking pot sitting out your door starring at you, dogs running loose marking territory with owners far behind. Many sketchy folks walking around randomly that looked like they were out looking for a score. The feeling in general was very unsafe. The check in staff person was as dry as they come, no personality or smile of greeting. Then we had to pay a $100 deposit for each room, that we then had to come back in morning to get back or it wasn’t returned. The food that was offered was limited to a juice box, box of cereal, unripe fruit, or you could make a waffle. Think twice about choosing this unsanitary unsafe dwelling, never again shall we return.

Very disappointing hotel. The neighborhood was extremely sketchy and the hotel was bordered by several abandoned properties. The parking lot next door was full of wrecked cars. The property itself was in pretty bad disrepair. The room was nice enough but the carpet was dirty and the furniture was worn and dated. There was a small kitchen in our unit and some of the cabinet doors were sagging. There was one ladle and one knife for utensils in the kitchen. No forks or spoons. A small collection of mismatched plates, bowls and mugs. The beds were comfortable but there were no linens or blankets provided for the pull out sofa. The heat did not work or was capped to prevent you from raising it too high. It was 35* outside during our stay and we got it up to maybe 65* inside. With no spare blankets, we ended up having our kiddos share a bed and one sleep with us to stay warm. The hot water did not last for an entire shower for one person. The room held 6 people. There was a loft with a queen bed but the wall of the loft was very low and the bed was pushed up to the wall. Our 2 year old could easily stand up on the bed and make the wall less than waist high on her. It was so extremely unsafe that we didn't let her sleep upstairs. Nothing in our room looked at all like the pictures in their listing. I will say that the staff was very nice and helpful.

Very disappointed and caught off guard to say the least. I arrived and the interior was nothing like what is pictured in the site. Very outdated furniture. Cold drafts from the windows, fireplace, and under the door. Had to use the picture off the wall and bed sheets to stop the drafts from coming in. I should have read the reviews first.

Expedia and Wyndham should be ashamed. The pictures they show on this site are from 20 years ago! This place is nasty, dirty, people yelling all night, the property is used as a weekly/monthly housing development. The only thing that covered up the sewage smell was all the bleach the cleaning lady spread around before we checked in. I will not use or trust Expedia or Wyndham again.

Very dated, floors were dirty, not swept. Bathroom caulk and tile crumbling and dirty. Bed was very comfortable. Neighborhood was sketchy, a little scary driving to the hotel.

Dishonest employees

The suite was reasonably clean, but the space under the bed needs to be cleaned from the myriad of spider webs and a used water bottle. The furniture and the kitchen and appliances needs to be updated. No microwave and the kitchen didn’t have the basic utensils.

The pictures do not match what the hotel actually looks like. It’s disgusting not properly cleaned and there are actual whole families staying there. The lady at the front desk was so unprofessional yelling and cussing at people when she answered the hotels phone.

Place is a dump

This place was cleaned as best as it could be but the property is old and needs a renovation. There were several dead roaches around and even a bunch of live ones. I am never going back !

This is very run down and difficult to find. The pictures do not reflect the state of the property. The door did not close properly and the bathroom door looked as though it had been kicked in. It smelled like old cigarettes smoke and the towels smelled as well. The sheets were ripped. There were people outside yelling at 1 am. We did not feel safe and were concerned about the safety of our vehicle. Do not stay here. It was very expensive for a run down place.

Disappointed

Place was not as advertised. We picked this hotel because of the pool. Come to find out they don't have one anymore and won't update their photos to reflect that. The closet door was just sitting up against the closet not even in the rails. The upstairs shower had no hot water.

Great employees mediocre stay

The front desk employee was awesome! The building was run down and NOT what the pictures showed on the internet. The outside pool and hot tub had covers/never opened this year. The basketball court gates were torn down and there were no nets or backboards. The room had wallpaper that was peeling. There were ants in several places. There was black near the ceiling in the bathroom area. It was a non smoking room but smelled of smoke.

The first room was nasty dirty dead bugs on the floor bath room had hair all in the sink, toilet and tub, I went back to the front desk and while I was walking this female came up to me to let me know that her room was also nasty and smelled like cigarette smoke, say the least they gave me a different room and it was also nasty, left drove myself to Walmart for cleaning supplies and cleaned the mess up the best that I could, it was so nasty that I just checked out and they refuse to refund me my $175 please take my advice and check the room out before you stay there very very nasty oh and another thing so of the doors don't lock not safe.

The room was to be a non smoking room...heavy smoke oder...tolite would not flush. Complained and they said I could not have my money back.I was in the room 5 minutes.Too late for 6s to get another place.They gave us another room. Very old and dated but better than the first one. Ok so we checked in made dinner chilled for like 4 hours I fell asleep only to be woke up by my frightened husband screaming 😱 it's a 🐀 in the room while standing on top of the futon I don't know why all dishes we're washed cleaned it really peeed me off I just wanted to enjoy my room I called front desk told her she said oh really I'm like yes trust me my husband is affected afraid of mice /rats she then about a hour later had security service find my room to ask if I wanted to be moved to a penthouse suite it's 2am in the morning my stuff games are already set up all my things we're out so they wanted me to move my things in the middle of the night big inconvenience to me I'm sleepy stayed up til 5 am how did I enjoy anything I usually stay here alot first time experience this next morning played off like we sent a message to higher power nobody called me yet I'm very dissipointed

Most of the businesses around area are boarded up and closed. Website listed pool and free continental breakfast. Pool doesn't look like it has been opened all year and breakfast is not an option at this time. Disappointing when you are traveling with a child and there is no mention that these thing are not available. Would have choaen a othee option had the information been updated

The place is nothing like the picture. It looks so trashy, the pool wasn't even up and running. We never saw breakfast, the bed wasn't made, the blankets were in a ball on the couch. We also paid a $100 deposit on June 19th, 2022 and we still yet to receive our refund. I've been back and forth with my bank and the hotel trying to get my money back and im having no luck. Besides all of those things we had a comfortable sleep and went on about our day. The night staff was very friendly.

The description of the hotel and images do not reflect the actual conditions of the property. The pool has not been open for who knows how long, the sport court has no basketball hoops, and it is clear this is a long term residence/apartment complex situation. The stairs and deck were in ok condition but the railings were falling apart in the building we stayed in. There were no screens in the window, ants in the kitchen, and the room smelled of old smoke, likely because there were huge gaps around the door. It was a two story room with a loft/bathroom upstairs, full kitchen, and bedroom/bathroom on the main floor. It was near the interstate, which made it convenient, but the area was very run-down.

The towels were dirty and so were the plates.

Wyndham needs to REMOVE their affiliation from it!

The area was not very well lit when we arrived at 10 pm. The bushes were high walking to our room and there were men standing outside across from our room talking and just watching us. The inside of the room was old but looked clean. The bed was horrible however. It was uneven and all night I had to pull myself back because I kept rolling to the other side of the bed hitting into my husband. We had a difficult time sleeping because there was a police helicopter flying around above the hotel for approximately 30 minutes. In the morning, we tried to take a shower but the shower would NOT WORK. I would NOT recommend this facility and Wyndham should REMOVE their name from it! We are concerned about choosing a Wyndham in the future because of this.

The pictures are not what the room looked like. No pool...no dining. And it was around a very bad area. If we are going to live in a time where we need to rely on technology, then at least have the decency to be real about the things we are purchasing. I wouldn't have stayed there for $60, let alone $165 ($35 hidden cost for bringing our pet).

This place was aweful. The picuters are very very inaccurate. It was not clean. The doors to the 1 bedroom where finlthy. The cieling and ceiling fan and super dusty and dirty. The fridge did not stay cold. And we found 2 huge beattle lookinh bugs. They knew we had 6 people but didnt have the amenities for the pull out couch. The staff didnt really speak English so it was really hard to understand them. It is also in a very scetchy place. A lot of borded up old hotels and run down area. Do not recommend at all.

Trashy hotel

Horrible experience,@ check in there was a woman who lives there arguing with manager & they had to call security. Went to find room where there was no lighting & there was trash directly in front of door !!! Went back to front desk & ask to cancel my reservation within 7 minutes !!!

Loved the location! Very clean defiantly has everything you’d ever need! And the bed was super comfortable

This place was a hot mess. We wanted to stay here because there was a full kitchen. Well, the kitchen was there but nothing to cook with. The glasses looked like they had dried milk in the bottom. The bathroom was disgusting. There was hair and toilet paper behind the door. The tub had dirty footprints in it. It was just gross. We won’t be staying here again.

There's better options!!

Check in was simple! BUT Room smelled, It looks as if someone just checked it, wasn't clean. Not enough things here to be an extended stay-utensils, blankets. Had to ask for more, had to get my own cleaning supplies. It gives more of a motel vibe, than an extended stay! Definitely need new owners& better cleaning crew!

This is an inexpensive place to stay close to the highway just north of downtown and south of Polaris. The parking is convenient. The staff were friendly, competent, and efficient. The bed was clean and comfortable. The room probably saw its best days 20 years ago. Everything is beat up and shabby.

This was probably a very nice hotel complex in its time, but it has possibly not been updated since it opened. The lady at the front desk was wonderful.

I loved the fireplace in the room. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The decor was a little dated but was not a deal breaker. We all had our own space and appreciated the bedrooms being on different floors. We voted that we would stay here again if we were in the area.

Never stay here

The “hotel” was actually a ran down weekly apartment complex for government assistance. The tenants were sex offenders and postitutes. They put me on the ground floof and people were smoking outside of my room. Everything in the room were dirty and sticky. Stains all over the furniture. I did not feel safe staying there as a single female traveler. The place looked nothing like the pictures online.

It was nice having room upstairs and one on bottom floor but ice machine never worked even after having staff help and had to have them come to replace batteries in remote for tv. Very dirty as they need to deep clean badly. Both checkin members were very pleasant.

Run. Dont walk away from this one.

We have srayed qtbthis facility for years, but it has taken a horrible turn. It is being run as an extended stay now with many long term reaidents. Mattress are sunken as are the chairs. Housekeeping is only provided ince a week. Rooms reak of smoke. A/c was frozen solid for 3 days, riachws in the room. Management is unavailable. All this is documented in photos. We qre workingbwith Wyndham to gain some lwvelnof satisfaction.

Felt unsafe and a little dirty.

This was by far the most unclean facility I have ever stayed at. Reservations were made and paid for two nights but the room was so filthy that we could not stay the second night Door locks did not function Spider webs under all the furniture and corners of the room Food had been spilled on the furniture and not cleaned Kitchen facilities were terrible. I would like to hear from someone regarding this facility and how we get reimbursed for the second night. Entire facility and surroundings were terrible. Terrible representation of Wyndam properties.
