Great location and great view, especially for Muslim pilgrims
Beds are cheap. They were constantly making noise on the roof at night.
Very kind people and very knowledgeable. 6 minutes walk to Al aqsa mosque and rooftop views.
Great location in old city, from room 315, awesome view of Dome of the Rock and Masjid Al Aqsa. The 4th floor rooftop was amazing with incredible views.
Best hotel to stay at in Palestine!
Stay here if you are visiting Aqsa, it is few minutes of great walk. Staff were very courteous.
Great location!!!! Amazon view of Dome of The Rock! Close to everything! Super clean , excellent service, and very friendly staff.
Hotel Location # 1
The hotel has an excellent location if your plan is to visit Jerusalem and walk it through. It is in the "middle of the action". The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are very small but clean which was the most important thing to us.
Great location in the old city. Great staff. Beautiful view from the rooftop. We appreciated fresh cold water available in the lobby.
good
Highly recommended and close to Al Aqsa
Once again I had a comfortable stay. Room was very clean. I have stayed here a number of times and am never disappointed
Walking distance
A good place to stay in Jerusalén!! Walking distance everywhere. I will back !
Friendly staff. Building was historically old but well maintained and kept
Great hotel , good location , amazing view , friendly staff
My room was dingy and dark, one small window with no view. Furniture old, door handle hanging off, door locked but felt insecure. No heating, very cold at night. Sons room slightly better, I asked to be moved and was told to come back each morning to see if there was another room, big groups had moved out and I asked for 4 days and gave up. We stayed out all day as rooms were depressing. Roof terrace was nice with good view. People in reception were friendly. Would not stay again.
Pros: 1. Close to most of major attractions 2. Nice view from roof top 3. Cameras and great security Cons: 1. Outdated rooms. Paint chipping away from walls. Room was cold without any source of a heater. No fridge or lamp by bed. 2. Shower did not hold water and it leaked into bathroom.
Good location, friendly staff. Loud and bustling hotel with lots of families.
Great base but noisy
Like all Old city hotels you have to walk to this one so don't take too much luggage! The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the Holy Sepulchre and maybe 10 minutes from the Temple Mount. It is easy to find from either the Damascus or Jaffa gates. There are great views of the Dome of the Rock from the roof terrace and breakfast was very good value. Our room was smaller than I'd have locked but it had enough power sockets and wifi was good. The only downside for us was the noise - not external noise but the other guests. We stayed 2 nights and both times were woken repeatedly through the night by people shouting and slamming doors. We were always up and gone by 7AM but we were woken between 3 and 5 constantly by inconsiderate guests.
Hotel staff was extremely kind - they talked us through finding parking outside of the Old City, and were quick to help us during our stay. Plus, you can’t beat the view from the rooftop!
I did not receive upgrade or free drink as mentioned in my booking. However, the hotel was in a good location. I did not like my room much, very dark with no window. Its good to have free tea and coffee all day. The hotel is in the Muslim area and it felt so much safer and relaxed than in the Jewish or Christian areas (so much more hustling there).
First visit to Jerusalem
Excellent location. Excellent service. Friendly staff. Excellent views of the old city from rooftop terrace . Hard to get big suitcases into hotel. Rooms are small but considering the location, you cannot go wrong. Use Damascus Gate and go straight up the street to hotel.
Right in the middle of old Jerusalem. For that reason, rooms are small. Great view from the top of the hotel.
The room was clean and large. Our "View" was of an adjacent building (not good), but the rooftop patio was excellent for views of the Dome of the Rock and the surrounding area, especially at night. Loved staying inside the "old city" walls.
Excellent location, very helpful and accommodating staff; facility has its own vibe
Excellent location in Old Jerusalem; stunning rooftop view across to the Dome of the Rock and surroundings. Helpful can-do staff; secure, clean, unique.
Hotel have beautiful view ,close to everything …have great time..
May not visit the property. Information provided did not help.
This was a nice, clean hotel with a spectacular rooftop view of the Temple Mount! Staff was friendly and helpful. We had a very pleasant experience at Hashimi. AC was frosty cold, everything functioned properly. Safe and quiet at night. If you Americans (like us) are staying in any hotel in the Old City, you are not going to experience anything like Hampton Inn or Double Tree with valet parking, so temper your expectations. It was a long walk (a few blocks) from the Damascus Gate with our luggage, but everything is a long walk in Jerusalem. After you settle in, this is a great location, just minutes from the Temple Mount, Via Dolorosa walk, Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Tower of David, etc. You are smack dab in the market district of the Muslim quarter with local food and souvenir shops lining every street. If you want to get to locations outside the Old City, we recommend Uber or taxi from the Damascus Gate, New Gate, or even the Jaffa Gate.
This place is awesome. Imagine being in one of the most historically significant places on earth. Clean, very nice hotel.
This hotel is located at the heart of Jerusalem, it’s a great walking distance for prayer. The staff is like no other, friendly, kind and maintain the property very well. My family and I have been back several times and hope to return again in the future!
Good location in terms of proximity to Al Aqsa. Quite and clean
It was great being inside of Old Town Jerusalem. The hotel was really nice and the staff were very friendly. I would definitely stay there again and again and again!
Fantastic hotel with amazing views.
Beautiful place
The hotel is very located right inside the Jerusalem it is a family owned the workers are very friendly and ready to help you out to get to anywhere you want to go showing you all the options available. The roof top of the hotel is beautiful
Perfect location
Perfect location just down from Damascus gate and right around the corner from Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Lovely people very gracious staff. Breakfast was made to order omelets. The views are breathtaking. It made our stay very easy - we walked from the hotel to everywhere and everyone knows the hotel so you can’t get lost.
This place was great! Carrie at the front desk was helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. They all made us feel right at home! Staying in the Muslim quarter of this special place was safe, convenient, and better than any other place in the newer side of town. My wife and I loved being in the middle of the action. Thanks again to everyone at the Hashimi Hotel, you were the best and we cannot wait until we can come back again!
The hotel's staff was extremely friendly, they go the extra mile to help you. The hotel's location is perfect if you are focused only on Religious tourism because it is inside the walls where everything historical is located, but very inconvenient for transportation as you have to walk up to the street (outside the Damascus Gate). Its location is in the Muslim Quarter (the Arab area) so not many people speak English, and to find the hotel may take up-to 2 hours as the Israeli soldiers don't help you find it either. Interestingly, and even though your first impression of the area is not so good, once you find the hotel's entrance, and walk up the stairs, you'll fall find the place to be nice, clean, friendly, and excellent. If you are looking for luxury or fanciness, this place may not be for you, but if you are focused on Religious tourism, this place is perfect!
Front desk staff was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Breakfast room is beautiful and breakfast was served fresh. Rooms could use some maintenance. Excellent location and awesome views from rooftop and from our room.
Great Location, excellent view, no car access
Location location location! If you are adventurous and want to stay in the heart of the Old City then this hotel delivers! You must understand 2 things: 1. this is a small mom & pop joint with very personable staff. Super helpful! 2. No car access so if you are traveling light and are in decent shape, you can roll your small cases with minimal problem, as we did. We are in our 50’s age-wise. Now for the unbeatable rooftop view of the Dome of the Rock…AMAZING. You can bring your breakfast (hotel restaurant) up to rooftop terrace and enjoy the breathtaking view! Thank you Hashimi Hotel for satisfying our needs with your friendly service. We felt comfortable and safe.
Good Hotel in prime location
Location wise it’s good hotel , undergoing some renovations now . We had a good time . Breakfast is simple but good . Rooms and bathroom need updating . Great view of old city from some rooms and 4th floor lounge area . Will visit again
Good service, clean room good staff
Wonderful hotel with lovely staff and excellent service. Spectacular location with by far the best views of the dome of the rock and al Awad mosque.
Architecture and decor of the building, very cozy breakfast area, great kitchen staff
Amazing
Amazing!
Was a very nice stay
Great being in the old city of Jerusalem as it was close to many of the main sights. The rooftop view was excellent. Room was very tiny with only about 30cm between the bed and three walls around it. Just enough room for two suitcases. Free breakfast was good. Helpful with airport shuttle.
In the Middle of the Market
I appreciated my stay at the Hashimi Hotel. It has a great location inside the Old City. This actually was a bit of a challenge because the taxi had to leave me at the Damascus Gate so I had to ask for directions along the way. It is a short walk, but to a newcomer, there is so much happening. Keep looking up to see the sign or it is easy to walk right by the hotel. The upper floor is as advertised and they are updating the hotel gradually it seems. The lower floor is beautiful as well. My room was okay visually but clean and comfortable.
Terrible experience - DO NOT STAY HERE
A gross hotel. Terrible and unresponsive staff. Avoid. If you've already booked a stay, best of luck - you'll need it.
Perfect location. The original foundation is 500 years old . The view from the roof top is stunning .
Best kept secret in Jerusaleim... Centrally Located with a view of the dome of the rock you can see from the rooftop terrace where you can see spectacular views day and nice... you can reach Hotel from several gates in Jerusalem... just be aware of one thing if driving... you’ll need to park at mamila or parka parking lots... & if guys offer to help you with your suitcases... just say Nooo/Looo because they will try to rip you off but that’s not the Hotel,,, just people in the street... even with vests...
A great location in the thick of the old city
The room was really nicely decorated and was very clean. The shower was huge and we had daily room service. The lady who checked us in was really helpful and we felt welcome. The rooftop view is superb. We would stay here again.
Great Hotel
Nice hotel with great staff. Excellent location in the middle of the Old City. Amazing rooftop views.
It was a lovely hotel located in the Arab Quarter of Jerusalem. The room was great, the rooftop room was great, the personel were competent and the breakfast was also very well done.
Its in perfect location ,few minuts away from all historical holy place's in Jerusalem, it has the most beautiful view from their roof top over looking the dome of the rock. Love the hotel and the friendly staff staff.
Great hotel and location
The staff was very friendly, and the hotel is located right in the middle of the old city. We had a beautiful view of the dome of the rock from our room. They also serve an excellent breakfast
It is very difficult to get here. Had to drag our luggage through numerous steps. There is no map to get here and when you asked people some told you to go this way and some told you to go the other way. The parking is too far away and were never able to find it, had to park at a private parking for 60 nis a day. When you get to the hotel there are more steps to climb. Breakfast is not included, it costs 25 nis. Other than that the hotel is great and the people running it are great as well.
Toilet flush did not work properly, just warm-hot wather from the tap
Greatest
Great service friendly people. Couldn’t have asked for more.
Very helpful staff. Lovely breakfast. Incredible views.
Fab location!
The hotel is in a really great location and the staff are helpful. We weren’t aware that if you are unmarried you can not share a room with your partner, however the hotel was great at providing another room free of charge. The rooftop is great and has really fabulous views of the old town. The only downside to the hotel is the level of noise you can hear from other people on your level. I was awoken around 4am by a group of people banging on each other’s doors to wake their friends/family up. You can hear everything.
Enjoy it so much
I love it I loved every single detail in it😍❤️
Very nice and generous people. Clean, air-conditionnef, free tea and coffee and Location in the heart of the Old City
So, the hotel was really good considering how unsure I was about all hotels in Jerusalem. Friendly staff. The place is clean. Free tea, coffee and water (cold/hot) in the lobby 24/7. The rooms were comfy. The other room we booked had a magnificent view of the dome of the rock. The lovely rooftop patio had that same amazing view of and of the whole city. The lit dome of the rock was beautiful at night. Breakfast was superb. My bathroom had an updated shower which was nice, but my parents shower head was very loose. They didn't complain and we forgot to mention it to the owner but I'm 100% positive they would've corrected right away. I highly recommend it :-)
Breathtaking view
It was an absolute great stay especially with breathtaking rooftop view. The surrounded area is so beautiful and the people are very friendly and accommodating.
A nice place with comfortable room and very good and polite people.
Excellent location, friendly staff, clean hotel and fresh food breakfast bar. Love to stay again.
A HOSTEL, not a hotel
This is a HOSTEL, not a hotel. I didn’t feel welcome when I arrived and ended up leaving after one night after pre-paying for five because I was so uncomfortable.
Nice to look at, impossible to sleep
We booked this hotel for our last night in Jerusalem because we wanted somewhere with lots of character in the Old City. The views from the terrace and the character of the old building were amazing and we enjoyed the atmosphere in the evening during Ramadan as everyone came out to eat and enjoy the evening. We were expecting a bit of noise in the city and that was fine. However, we had not expected the worst of the noise to be inside the hotel! It ramped up at midnight as groups of young men walked up and down the halls, yelling back and forth, slamming doors and laughing loudly. Between 12 and 5 we were jolted awake every half an hour or so as people pounded on doors and talked loudly throughout the hotel, coming to a crescendo with constant loud noise from about 345am until 430. Now I know that the hotel management only has so much control over the behaviour of the guests, but there didn't seem to be any effort on their part to control the night time noise levels. When I finally gave up on sleep at 5 and came out to the lobby to get a coffee, there were about a dozen young men talking in the lobby and up and down the halls, a few feet from the staff at the front desk and no one seemed to care. I don't normally leave negative reviews because I try to find the positive in most places, but despite the beautiful location and friendly staff, the simple fact is that the purpose of a hotel is for sleep and I did not get any sleep at all in this hotel.
Very nice hotell and friendly staff. The view from the upper balcony was excellent.
Everything was perfect but there was no fridge in our room
Great location and view
The hotel is in a great spot in the Old City, in the Muslim Quarter. Easy to get to all the major sites, although be aware if you have cases it’s a 5-10 min walk from the city gate, along cobbled streets with steps. The hotel has a number of ‘rules’ like alcohol forbidden and no unmarried couples in a room, which is draconian, but are stated in the terms. The rooms are basic but very nice. Mine had a view of a wall, but the view is really from the top floor ‘garden’ which is spectacular. They’re also happy for you to bring in food to eat up there. Service was great - very friendly staff the whole time I was there. Would definitely recommend as a bolthole to go out and explore Jerusalem.
Though most of the hotel has been renovated, our room was only partially renovated the smell in the room was very strong perfume, my wife started coughing and could not stop. We asked for a different room but was told none was available. Fortunately our travel companions traded rooms with us. Breakfast was not available due to Ramadan.
Surprisingly big when you enter. Lovely rooftop and views. Dining room amazing. Staff really caring and helpful.
Room was nice and clean. Staff was helpful as we checked in late. They do not have toilet paper!! Just a hose sprayer to clean yourself which I personally don't know how to use properly. Also at 4am you will hear a loud call to prayer from the local mosque which goes on for a half hour. If you are a light sleeper it will wake you
Excellent location, average service
Best thing about this hotel is its location followed by view from the rooftop and breakfast. However it lacks some basic amenities like an iron or a closet. Also the hotel is smack in the middle of old city where cars can’t go so one has to be dropped off st one of the gates and then drag your luggage through cobblestone streets and up and down stairs. The front desk staff had s take it or leave it attitude. On the other hand it’s location allows you to access prime old city cites at times when there is no crowd
Great location for touring Jerusalem. Great views, friendly staff, clean but small rooms.
Excellent location in the Old City, friendly and helpful staff.
The staff was welcoming and extremely helpful in arranging an airport shuttle for us.
Very poor WiFi. Fantastic roof top view. Great staff Room on 1st floor was no good. Poor view but anything 2nd floor above is good.
the hotel is in a really good location but is hard to find it
A nice hotel.
A very good location to access masjid al Aqsa. A fifteen mins walk to the doors of the masjid. The hotel was resided by six of us on the first floor and third. We were a bit disappointed on the size of the shower area and sink in the room to have a shower and do wudu. No shelves to put your toiletries whilst showering was a bit of a pain. The views on the rooftop was amazing. You could see the masjid and some of the rock. It was nice. The hotel served breakfast which was omelette or fried egg and other buffet foods. Overall I am satisfied with the service and hotel. I would go back.
This hotel is steps away from Al Aqsa which is why we booked it. However we ended up not staying at the hotel because there is no street access for cars to drive up to the front of the hotel to drop off guests and their luggage. Guests would have to carry their own luggage for about 10 minutes walk. Luggage cannot be pulled because the streets of the Old City are not even and not very clean.
Right in the centre of the old city. About 300 meters from the Damascus Gate which can only be walked to through the narrow streets of the Arab market. If you want to step out of the door into the hustle and bustle of the Arab market then this is the place for you with a roof top lounge with views across Jerusalem. If you want to be able to get a taxi to the door and enjoy a spa then find somewhere else. we really enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful . I highly recommend it.
Excellent stay. Good staff, good food. Good location
When we arrived the room was not what we expected. Durty floors, broken mirror above dresser in the room, missing mirror above sink, shower door broken, missing, bedding is missing, for three people only 2 towels, amenities missing, NO WIFI(choose this hotel because promised wifi). Asked front desk person to switch rooms, was told to see manager tomorrow. Tomorrow too late. Had no choice but to stay. Couldn't call Expedia no phone available. Wouldn't have chosen this place if i had known that i would have so many problems. Horrible experience. Please this hotel should not be on Expedia. I want a full refund. Have pictures upon request.
Best hotel I have ever stayed at!
Salaam, this is the best hotel in Jerusalem and to the Al-Aqsa compound. The staff are absolutely lovely and will help you with everything. MashaAllah lovely staff! Miss you all... Zulqarnain :)
Amazing view!
Unique family owned property with VERY pleasant staff. Very close to Aqsa mosque/compound. Great but limited breakfast available
The place was excellent, considering that the entrance is within a narrow street in Jerusalem Old City the inside is really nice. It has a comfortable reception hall to sit and rest (or drink free coffee/tea). The rooms and shared areas are super clean. The receptionist, a guy called Islam, was super friendly and helpful to provide directions and assistance to get in/out the hotel. The roof-top terrace gives an awesome look to the east side of the city and Mount of Olives. They also serve traditional dinner (for a great price) on the roof-top to relax and enjoy. Highly recommended!
Close to our destination
very good and enjoyable
Hard to explain unless you have been there . It’s in middle of old city and it just has a really good feel .. I highly recommend it
The hotel entrance is via a fligt of stairs so no disabled access. Other than that the hotel is a family run business with staff being very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located very close to the AlAqsa Masjid about 5 minutes away. It is also close to the Sepulchre. Our room was cleaned every day by housekeeping and the breakfast was good.
Solo Spiritual Sojourn
Excellent location.Walking distance to Al Aqsa Mubarak. Friendly staff.warm welcome. 24 hour tea and coffee service.stunning view from the rooftop.
good choice, close to main attractions, good staff, best value for money
Solo female traveller. Felt REALLY safe in this hotel. The staff (especially Carrie) were lovely and went out of their way with tips for the area. Superbly located for the old town and yes that view on the terrace is amazing. The other guest were a really nice bunch of people. Breakfast is good and yes the omelettes are wonderful. The rooms are simple and I must admit the noise from the corridor could be a little loud at times but this was a small price to pay for everything else. Remember it's cobbles from Damascus Gate and can be quite busy so navigating with luggage can be a little tricky. From the gate there's only one way you can go. When you reach the bottom of the stepped path the route forks. Take the right hand one and it's on the left hand side after the path dips and starts to rise again.
Hotel is close to old city but overall conditions are terrible. Tiny towels given. Bedding not changed on regular basis. Ceiling light is hanging down from ceiling with wires exposed, no shower door which was broken off and not replaced. Whole toilet is sprayed with water when taking shower, only one light in whole room with no wall or table light. Light is so weak that u can’t read. Promised to give brighter bulb but never happened. Terrible small room I came across with the cost it should have been rated as 1 star. When asked for hairdryer in reception they said another guest is using it. One dryer in whole of hotel ? That’s a joke..The receptionist who’s I think the owner is so unfriendly which u thought he is paying u to stay in the hotel. No tour or other info provided at the hotel. We were given a map to get round. When we asked for currency exchange he just mumbled its outside in the street. No help at all. Please remove it from Expedia list.
Located in old city. No auto transport. Need to schlep your luggage. Good location for touring the old city. Very noisy at night. Staff friendly. Good breakfast.
Fantastic view from the roof garden and well situated. Noisy at night with comings and goings and doors that bang and need their locks seeing to.
