Excellent Stay - love the birds and nature
Loved my stay here, breakfast was excellent, also had lunch and dinner here because the kitchen makes some tasty and nutritious food. Just a note that this is a nature reserve in a hacienda, so the rooms smell woody and you can hear birds chirping in the morning, the perfect alarm clock. The staff are really friendly, from being responsive on whatsapp to greeting you and showing me around the property, they made me feel really welcomed! The walk around the nature reserve was also really nice, theres a great amount of biodiversity and birds to be found. Also got to feed the 2 llamas there. Would wish for more local soups and foods to be added to the menu. For example, encebollado soup would have been perfect on cold nights, or maybe even a Hornado roast for lunch just to try everything once again when I arrive in Ecuador.
This is a delightful property that is memorable from the moment you arrive. The staff are wonderful and warm and kind. The birds and plants and views are extraordinary and the buildings transport you into the refinement of rht past.
This is a beautiful looking historic Hacienda property located close to Quito International Airport. It is under final approach for the airliners. It isolated in that there are no off-property restaurants within walking distance and it is a 45-minute taxi ride one-way to historic Quito. The restaurant on-property has good food but a limited menu. The only heat available in the rooms is the fireplace/wood stove. Wood is supplied.
This property was perfect to begin my holiday. From organising them to pick me up from the airport where they were there waiting for me to the friendly demeanour of all staff. It was perfect to relax and get over jet lag with the lovely walks and beautiful site with many places to relax and experience nature whether the sun was out or raining (with lots of lovely sheltered views.
Unique in the valley below Quito, this Hacienda allows you to decompress in comfort in a natural environment within reach of the airport. Management is attentive and the food and ambience exceptional. We plan to stay again soon.
Beautiful place to spend a night or two close to the airport. Only downside was an extortionate charge for taxi pick up and drop off: twice the price of a taxi to Quito yet only half the distance.
Beautiful property with welcoming staff. They arranged for our transportation & kept our bags for delayed checkout. Very customer service oriented. Lots of birds & heautiful flowers.
Beautiful property with nice trails to explore and gorgeous gardens to sit and enjoy the birds. Lovely spacious accommodations and a nice restaurant as well. Highly recommended!
Had an amazing stay at this property! We received excellent service start to finish, the owner and staff treated us like royalty and with such kindness. Definitely will return and visit this place again next time we’re back in Ecuador.
Good place to be relax and very romantic place to go with your partner
We enjoyed our short stay at Hacienda Jimenita prior to traveling to the Galapagos last month. The staff was kind and accommodating and the grounds are beautiful. It was great to be in nature and hike around the property prior to flying further. Our room was adequate and had everything that we needed for our brief stay. It was the perfect start to our time in Ecuador. We enjoyed the convenient location - less than 20 minutes from the airport as well.
Wonderful lodge. Meals were superb. Good communication and close to the airport
Talk about a hidden gem...
Hacienda Jimenita has fabulous rooms and grounds with a 5000 year old tunnel. The vegetation, forest and canyon are wonderful. Meals ate excellent and well-priced, and Oscar makes a great martini. The staff is very welcoming.
Couples Vacation
This is our second time staying at this place. We enjoyed both visits very much. The place is a nature reserve with an abundance and different type of hummingbirds, Llamas and horses. The owner has two adorable and friendly dogs. The property also has hiking trails with beautiful forest plants and flowers. Rooms are clean and comfortable with a private bathroom. The staff is very friendly and willing to help with whatever you ask. They have a restaurant with an excellent chef. We never had any problems with their water or food. We definitely will stay there again❣️
My stay was amazing. The staff were eager to accommodate and my room was very clean and spacious. The food was also amazing!
The property was amazing and very beautiful. It is a very cool place. However, the restaurant is incredibly expensive. It was more expensive than anything else in Ecuador we went to and much more expensive than even similar things in the USA.
Owner family are very nice. Helped us on all our questions. Luis from reception is always smiling, he helped us on the chimney every night. All staffs from the restaurant are very friendly. Must try their food, the chief is amazing. They also have a nice and easy trail onsite to explore.
This property has lovely old world charm. The owners take great pride in this piece of family history. We loved sitting on the veranda with the gorgeous hummingbirds buzzing around. We enjoyed sitting by the fire, both in the Hacienda and our room. The staff was wonderful and Daniel arranged a fantastic nature day tour to go bird watching. (We arrived during protests in Quito, so visiting the city was not advisable). We highly recommended Hacienda la Jimenita.
Everything is just beautiful. Kind and helpful people. Can't recommend it enough if you need some rest and relaxation!
Great stay
I stayed here one night before heading out to Galapagos and it was a very relaxing way to deal with jet lag and prepare for th my next trip. I especially liked the trails and being able to spot the wildlife. Having stayed in Quito on my return from Galapagos, I can say that this spot out of town was quiet and relaxing and the perfect get away from the hustle and bustle.
Peaceful setting after spending several days in Quito. The meals were very good-thoughtfully prepared. We spent a pleasant afternoon with Sara driving to the middle of the earth museum. Taxi drivers to airport were prompt. Very nice setting for a group. If we ever return to Ecuador, we’d like to stay here.
Gorgeous oasis
Wonderful in every way! A gorgeous Quito oasis!!
A piece of paradise!
I'm so happy that i found this fantastic hotel in Quito. It's 20 minutes from airport but, you feel like you are in the middle of this gorgeous jungle! Hotel has trails to explore, an amazing variety of birds and even llamas! The owner was around welcoming the guests, very friendly staff. Food was very tasty! It's a piece of paradise! We stayed two nights before our Galapagos trip.
Love hiking and wildlife? Stay here.
It’s a beautiful and safe property with numerous trails that lead to bird watching spots and llamas. You’ll be given carrots to feed the llamas. We couldn’t find the trail so I wished they had signs leading to the llamas. Breakfast was free, a basket load of laundry is $15. The only minor inconveniences were that it’s not in walking distance to anything, they have to call a taxi for everything and you do hear the planes at night. Make sure to take earplugs and white noise. Have your meals in the patio and enjoy the numerous hummingbirds that come to the feeders.
Charming Hacienda
We loved our stay here, it just wasn't long enough (only 1 day and night). The rooms are large, comfortable, and nicely decorated. The common areas are unique and interesting. The grounds are fabulous. We spent a good part of the day hiking, enjoying the views and the flowers. We had several meals, including a lovely anniversary dinner.. The owner, Daniel, is kind and friendly. It is a short ride to the airport, where we had to be early the next morning. We were so glad we spent our last day and night at a place that was purely Ecuadorian rather than some bland hotel.
This is a must stay. Beautiful grounds for walking and great views. The rooms are quaint and the staff friendly. Rooms are clean and spacious. Loved this place!
Visiting from the U.S.
Super relaxing, amazing facilities, and wonderful staff. Hard to beat this place! We'd go back to Ecuador just for a stay there.
Magical
We only stayed one night, but I wish we had at least a week. Everything about the place is just neat. from the real wood fire in the lodge to the walk in shower in the room. It was like traveling back in time. The place is nothing short of magical. We hiked a little before it got dark, the grounds were beautiful and the trails seemed to go on forever. The food at their restaurant was top notch. The staff was very polite and accommodating. Just loved it.
HIdden Oasis
After spending a week traveling around Ecuador, we stayed at La Jimenita for our last day and night, and I am so glad we did. The property exceeded all expectations. It is the most beautiful, hidden away oasis. You can spend the entire day walking the trails surrounded by beautiful trees and flowers, stopping to feed the llamas carrots, and birdwatching. The grounds are stunning, and the staff is so attentive and kind - not to mention the perritos. I highly recommended ending a busy trip by relaxing here for a few days.
A paradise in outer Quito
The beauty of the gardens and trails are magnificent. There are numerous outdoor areas to sit, with hummingbirds constantly flying to the beautiful flowers. The staff is so accommodating to your needs. While a somewhat limited menu, the food is wonderful and very fairly priced. We stayed only 2 nights and would love to have stayed longer. There is even a long Inca tunnel on the property to tour. This would be a fabulous location for a retreat or small seminar
I wanted to love this place but...
I was arriving very late at night traveling as an experienced solo female, staying near the airport for early departure in the morning. I confirmed directly with the hotel manager twice, including one week in advance, that they would pick me up at the airport. After waiting at least 30 min and trying to get someone to call the hotel from the airport with no answer, I took a taxi. The driver had much difficulty finding the place and was my angel. He rang the bell for 20 minutes and someone finally answered in pajamas. I feared even entering this place by now, it is 1 a.m. The man at the hotel said I did not have a reservation but did settle me in a room luckily. I wanted to love this place and avoid the American hotels, but I cannot recommend this place. My friends from US recommended the Wyndam at the airport, and I noticed a full parking in the morning. I guess I know why.
Incredible experience
This is not your typical “airport hotel“. It comes with spectacular grounds and a birdwatcher is paradise. Terrific trails around the property which is immense . Staff could not be more helpful and gracious.
Great hacienda experience!
Our three day stay with Don Daniel Cruz and his family was the highlight of our Peru/Ecuador adventure. This is a genuine hacienda, in the family for over 100 years, that has been turned into a bird sanctuary. Don't expect a four star "tourist" hotel. They welcome you into the family and provide excellent food, service, and accommodations. This is the real thing.
Wonderful!
Excellent hotel. Beautiful grounds. Great little hike! Wonderful hummingbird experience. Very good food. They kept our luggage between our adventures to different areas, which was so helpful. They amazingly did our laundry in about 3 hours, but it was expensive. Only complaint is that shower was only lukewarm. Really great respite between adventures. Easy cab ride from airport. It’s in a random, out of the way location, but cab drivers all seem to know it by name.
Unique hotel away from the bustle of the city
This hotel is nice in that it is close to the airport and away from the hectic center of Quito. It is surrounded by beautiful landscapes, trails, birds and nature. It is a mostly quiet (although the room walls seem pretty thin and we heard the noises from our neighbors) and quite relaxing alternative to staying in the city. If you are just flying through Quito for a day or so, this place is a great option. Food: Breakfasts are included but they are VERY limited in selection. My wife is gluten free so she could literally only eat fruit. We tried dinner in the hotel restaurant one night and it was quite good. The service staff in the restaurant are quite nice. Rooms: beds are comfy but amenities are spare. This is a very "no frills" sort of place, so don't expect much in terms of the rooms. The rooms provide a good night sleep and a hot shower, which was enough for us. Value: It's a good value for the price, although the "extras" can add up in terms of cost of transport to and from Quito and any day trips you might want to do. We wanted to go to Mindo for the day but the prices the hotel quoted us seemed quite high, so we opted for a private tour booked through Viator, which was quite a bit cheaper and gave us exactly what we were looking for. I Overall we would recommend this hotel for its uniqueness, its natural beauty (be sure to explore the trails!) and its proximity to the airport.
Charming and personal hotel
Had 5 really pleasant days and going with Daniel, the hotel proprietor, to see the condors up in the mountains was an unforgettable experience.
A guest in an Ecuador home
A great Ecuador experience with walking tails and inca tunnels to explore. Guides easily available for day trips. Quito could be easily reached by taxi for a visit but the hacienda was a much nicer area to stay.
Lovely hotel surrounded by nature
Excellent hotel and wonderful service
Lovely Setting, But No Closet
We chose this hotel as it was close (20 minutes) to Quito International Airport and that it received great previous reviews. While the hotel grounds are lovely, we were not there long enough to enjoy them. The room was clean, but did not have a closet or any place to hang clothes. The wifi was good. There are not other restaurants nearby, however, the hotel has a small restaurant in the hotel that serves decent food. The service was superb. If we were to need a hotel near the Quito airport again, we would stay at an airport hotel, especially if we had an early flight.
Excellent for an overnight layover or much longer
Friendly staff; extreme proximity to the airport; beautiful facility; a perfect base for explorations into the city and the mountains.
Lovely family run hotel with personal service and great food in their restaurant.
A Charming Oasis
This hotel is close to the Quito airport, but feels like another world. It is cozy, charming and comfortable. The grounds are beautiful with lots of walking trails and birds everywhere. Everyone at the hotel is warm and friendly and the service was excellent. The room was clean and comfortable. We would love to return!
Beautiful hotel, friendly service. Dinner was very good and at a decent price. Was scheduled for an early check-out (4:00 a.m.) and hotel booked another guest at midnight right next door. Did not get much rest.
Beautiful, relaxing hotel.
We stayed recently before a trip to the Galapagos. The hotel is relatively close to the airport (unlike Quito hotels). The staff was very accomodating; holding out luggage while we were in the Galapagos and even finding/keeping a swimsuit that we had left accidentally. They arranged a spa trip for us.
Cool authentic hotel close to the airport
This hotel is an old hacienda from 1910 with a cool nature trail. There is a great breakfast provided in lovely dining room with a fire place. The land scape is nicely maintained with pretty flowers and birds all around. We even were feeding llamas with carrots. It is all plesantly surprising finding for the hotel within 15 min from the airport. The advice: take the transportation arranged by the hotel for a reasonable fee. They will even meet you in the airport. Do not be put off by the back roads taken to get to the hotel. They look a bit sketchy, but that is part of the charm :).
Fabulous place to relax
Super place to stay after a whirlwind visit to Ecuador and Galápagos. Time to relax and enjoy Ecuadorean hospitality and natural surroundings
Four day stay after Galapagos visit.
This family run Hacienda has a very warm atmosphere, well maintained and a great ambiance. Location is excellent for a stay over prior or after a flight. Felt at home in beautiful acreage where we could hike on interesting trails. Tropical gardens, abundance of birds and spots to sit and view them. Pet Lamas to feed. A mysterious tunnel that turned out to be historical and fun to explore. Two eager small french bull dogs happily following any willing friends about the property. The owner and son speak English and instigate interesting discussions with any willing guests, by the always burning fireplace in the great room. We had a few travel problems related to flights and they kindly helped sort it out. They helped organize day trips from the hotel, although these were quite expensive ( eg 80$ US for a round trip to Quito). The local area has several walks that are nice and felt safe. One day trip to a thermal spa surrounded by volcanoes was marvelous.
Unique hacienda close to airport
Close to airport with hacienda arranging transfer. Located in a small town which does not look like much but when pass gates Into hacienda, another world of comfort, style and warmth. Beautifully decorated, comfortable common areas, excellent food and a gracious host Daniel. Highly recommend.
Relaxing stay before heading home
Really enjoyed our stay at Hotel La Jimenita. We stayed here for a couple of days before we returned home after spending a week on the Galapagos Islands. The location is beautiful and is a family estate with large rooms, beautiful scenery of the surrounding moutains, hiking trails on the property and the main part of the hotel and restaurant is absolutely lovely. The grounds have hiking trails and many bird feeders facilitating a lot of great bird watching. A short hike to see the llamas was also fun. We walked into town on Saturday for a town festival and had a fun time watching a horse parade that celebrated the founding of the town. Overall a wonderful retreat and place to stay.

Beautiful facility, but lack of heat in room
We loved the room and the stunning property. However, the wood fire heater in our room did not work, and after requesting help with it from four different staff members, no one could resolve the issue. The room did not have heating as a result and was very very cold. On our second night we were provided with a fairly functioning electric space heater that only had a low setting (high wasn't working) and did little to help. Would encourage other visitors to double check on heating if staying during colder climates.
