Wonderful eco friendly place to stay
We really enjoyed our stay - the location, staff, concept
THE whole experience is unique. The huts are all very unusual, cozy and there are two awesome pools on the property. Having a private beach complete with hammocks and lounge chairs was fantastic.
Creative, beautiful and rustic.
Interesting and creative huts built out of natural materials. No locks but there are safes in each room. No AC, but there are big nets and fans. Great location and an awesome semi-private beach (local surfers paddle up and hang out there too). Amazingly friendly and attentive staff. Stay here if you want a true Jamaican experience and are ok with uneven ground and creative spaces.
For camping glam hut 10/10 unique property and unique huts overlooking a cliff of Boston bay beach extremely friendly staff and next to Boston jerk. Walk beach and food. My only issue was I feel property needs better walkways that are safer and more groundskeeping needs to be done get rid of stagnant ponds Just know this isn't a luxury resort more of a unique camping in a hut treehouse with unique views. Great food at resort too we loved our stay and the people
This is the place to stay if you want to "unplug" and return to nature. Huts are unique and all are amazing. Staff is friendly and food is a 10 !
Great stay at great huts! The staff was amazing, food delicious, and private access to Boston beach perfect - with natural pools to watch the waves crash. I strongly recommend this resort to those who want to experience nature and are not afraid to sleep semi-outside - notwithstanding all the amenities!
Great Huts is an experience everyone who visits Portland must have! The hospitality is fantastic, and views from literally anywhere on the property are stunning! We saw a moonrise we'll never forget from the side of a cliff. I highly recommend this to anyone with an appreciation for nature and Jamaica.
What an amazing place! We absolutely loved our long weekend at Great Huts, so much so that we just hung out enjoying the beautiful lush jungle property and adjacent Boston Beach rather than venturing forth to see other sights in the area. This is not for you if you need luxury and a/c, but don’t hesitate if you love nature and being in the great outdoors, quirky artistic hut accommodation, good food and wonderful friendly staff. We especially loved the constant sound of the crashing waves that came with our fabulous Fig Tree hut. Thank you Roberta and everyone else at Great Huts for a truly unique experience.
It was the most unique and amazing property I have ever stayed out in my life
My husband and I had a great time, customer service is great
Unique experience and pristine waters for both of the pool and beach. My family enjoyed the stay.
We spent 3 nights at Great Huts in the Queen of Sheba. We had an amazing experience! From the warm and friendly check in where they provided fresh beetroot, pine and ginger juice, the grounds tour where we learned a lot about the property and Africana House, to the exceptional cleanliness of our huts and the grounds, and lastly the amazing food! We chose to have all of our meals at the resort instead of venturing out to the jerk stalls because the food was just that delicious. What really makes Great Huts shine is the staff! They truly put extra love into everything they do and it really shows. We all felt right at home and like part of the Great Huts family! We will definitely be back and stay longer next time.
I like everything about this place. Beautiful people, place and surroundings. Check for yourself.
This place was beautiful and unique, and exactly what I was looking for to relax with my husband. The staff was incredible- went above and beyond for any need. I miss each and every one of them! The grounds and accommodations were fabulous. Rustic, and back to nature- make sure you have running shoes- this is not a place to wear fancy footwear. Bring your deet if you’re prone to bug bites (like me). I faired pretty well, considering. The food was good too- and the complimentary breakfast starts your day off right. Do your research, be prepared, and you will enjoy the beauty surrounding you. One love.
Had a nice stay. Great concept which was unique and fun. However the site was rundown and needed a lot more maintenance. There was no outside dining so breakfast or lunch was rather dark but evening atmospheric. Very few outside chairs to watch the sun or admire the views. We liked swimming in the bay. We stayed in 2 different huts. Queen Nyabinghi was approached by 10 very steep external stairs not shown in the photos. A great resort if you are after something unusual and off the beaten track. Tasty food. Great breakfasts.
This property and staff team are amazing,so much so that I booked an additional two nights. I will be writing a full review when I leave.
I loved it! Amazing experience. The property is stunning
As “hotels” go Great Huts really is unique. Huge site with its own private beach, rocks, hammocks etc. Quirky individual “rooms” of varying shapes & sizes “in the jungle” We stayed in Iqbo in the Africanerhouse. With aircon and effectively a private swimming pool. Super friendly staff. Made to order breakfasts. Nice dining facilities too. Outstanding, totally outstanding, jerk food within walking distance.
It's not clean at all
Never lived in a treehouse before. It was fun to live in a tree and see that terrific sunrise. The meals tasted good but I expected them too be cheaper. Very helpful staff, they got me a bus to go to Montego Bay and a driver to get me to the bus. There assistance was vital.
I wish we had more time to explore the property. We only stayed a nite and it rained so we didn't get an opportunity to walk down to the beach. The wifi didn't work in the room but it did in dining area. The guesthouse area on rooftop and walkway needs repairs. The view is stunning.
Amazing experience! We went for our anniversary and could not have asked for a better experience. The staff was amazing. They provided a one of a kind memorable experience. They closed their beach front down and provided a four course anniversary dinner for us. We were given a personal driver for our time there. He was also unbelievable. The staff went above and beyond to make our anniversary one that will never forgotten! We will be going back for a longer vacation. Staying in a tree house is highly recommended to everyone who has a sense of adventure?
the most unique place I've every visited, the beauty of the setting is actually hard to comprehend, very well done Great Huts!
The design was unique and quite quiet.
you are free in this place
A must stay in Port Antonio! Unique and a stunning location. Worth the travel to get here. Excellent birding, best jerk chicken nearby, snorkeling, surfing… will be back!
I liked the view. I didn't like that it was starting to fall apart some areas of the property.
Every staff member was both friendly and accommodating, from the front desk to the chefs to the custodians to security. The entire layout gives the impression of living in a jungle paradise on the coast while providing comfort at every turn. Highly recommended!
We loved the place and we tried the Boston jerk centre ask for Shabbat it was awesome. All of it
beautiful location, calm and not touristy, super friendly staff, and overall nice room
Overall my husband and I enjoyed our stay. We’re a little bit older and not as in shape as we thought, lol. All the stairs were a little bit hard for us. Aside from that, if you enjoy nature it’s a beautiful spot. Friendly, helpful, caring staff. Quick easy check in-out.
The breakfast was awesome, staff were pleasant and facilities suitable for true nature lovers.
Beautiful views. Staff very friendly. We will go back 😊
Amazing property, great location, had a great time.
One of my favourite places in Jamaica. Unique, beautiful and relaxing Truly a one of a kind experience
Great Huts is an excellent place to stay to see some incredible parts of Jamaica and insanely beautiful views. The staff are kind and want you to have the best experience. There were some issues with the fan in my room and they were determined to set it right. The food was delicious as well!
Very Nice property, just need a lot of TLC. The food was very good.

Fabulous Beautiful Rustic place
The facility is very clean. The staff are super friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our trip there. The whole resort is very peaceful and relaxing. We were so closed to the ocean, beach, and nature. We would recommend this resort to any one who would like to experience living close to nature on their trip to Jamaica. Double thump ups!!!
The perfect hotel if you are looking for something different. I would highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Port Antonio. The best hotel that I stayed during my trip in Jamaica. The whole concept of huts itself is different and unique. The staff are so friendly and arrange anything that they can if asked for. The hotel also has a private beach and a trail that goes through the cliff. Never miss to ask for a tour of the property.
Awesome view of the ocean. The room was warm and the bed was comfortable. We were given a tour of the entire property and it was spectacular. Love the African theme throughout and the entertainment was great! Portland Jerk is just a few steps away and Reach Falls is a must visit.
The whole property is unique in its design. Staff was beyond excellent. The only thing mediocre was the menu. I really would have liked more Jamaican flavours. A suggestion for marketing would be to make sure seniors understand that most of the accommodations do not have private baths, and that the trip to the main bath is rather an adventure.
Do not miss out on this unique experience! Friendly staff, private beach, trails, scenic overlooks! We stayed in one of the huts, which was the perfect combination of nature and comfort. Guests are provided with mosquito nets and bug coils, but we didn't need to use either. Complimentary breakfast offers a choice between traditional continental options or a Jamaican option. Additional items are available for a small charge. The Saturday night African drumming performance is an absolute must. The audience participation part of the show is so much fun, and is one of my favorite memories. Water shoes recommended for the beach and rocky paths. We usually make it a point to explore a new place each time we have an opportunity to travel, but Great Huts may have changed our minds and made us repeat visitors. Highly recommended.
No words or pictures can do justice to this place. Wonderful blend of hospitality and nature. Everything seems to belong just as is. With community involvement adding to the mission with the support of a homeless shelter. Go and lose yourself in peace and serenity.
Great art and escape from the world. We had 3 huts and 9 in our party with 5 visitors on. Day pass. Magical experience or young & old. Cultural exchanges wonderful and many places for private time.
Hidden Gem of Port Antonio.
This was the most memorable stay of our entire Jamaica trip. Staying in bamboo huts in a tropical rain forest kinda setting, with a few minutes walk to the most beautiful views of the ocean. Please be advised there is no AC in the room and the bathrooms and showers are shared. They have a hotel on the property and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. 25-30 minutes drive to Reach Falls and Port Antonio city center.
Had a great stay, staff are super friendly, food was good but the paths are a little uneven.
The property had clean toilets, the property had a nice beach take your water shoes though because of sea urchins, the property had nature trails on the cliff, the safes in the rooms don’t work, the food was good but small portions, the menus only displayed US DOLLARS but waiters could never provide change . The menu/bill needed to also display Jamaican dollars. No WiFi service from the Sea Grape hut. The facility should also be able to exchange some US money into Jamaican dollars for their guests. The pool at African sunrise needs to be resurfaced and cleaned more frequently. The dogs on property need to be bathed at least every two weeks they smell funky. They do not change the sheets on the bed between guests. Bring your running shoes/sneakers due to the rugged nature of this resort.
Great Huts is a gorgeous rustic property. I love how natural the setting feels and that they truly incorporated the beauty of nature within the property. The Snake Trail is incredible along the cliffs, with beautiful views of the ocean and a great view of the sunrise (I was there in August, I know the sun's location changes depending on the time of year). The beach has a great sandy area to get in which has a little rock wall to help initially protect you from the waves getting in. The pools are gorgeous with wonderful views to the ocean. I stayed in the Granary Hut for a week and loved every minute. It can occasionally get a little noisy in the morning because it's right by reception and the kitchen, but honestly it wasn't something overly bothersome. This hut contains a bed, small side table, and a fan (plus a safe for valuables, I don't believe any of the rooms have locks on the doors, valuables are kept in safes and I had no issues with any of my belongings being out of place my entire week there). WiFi was only available in reception/dining room area and Africana House during my first two days, but I noticed that once several more guests arrived, WiFi seemed to be available throughout the majority of the property for the rest of my week (including the Granary Hut where I was staying). Great Huts is appropriate for people who are comfortable in nature and with wildlife. I wouldn't hesitate to return to this gorgeous location!
The property provided a different experience than traditional hotels which was very welcoming. The service at breakfast was very slow and took away from the little time left that we had to enjoy the property.
The property had a Traditional Vibe to it. This made it different from everywhere else we stayed.
Absolutely fabulous.love it .will return.the staff are friendly and helpful.great property.
I liked the atmosphere, the location the scenery, he food and the staff..
For nature lovers this place is the perfect getaway. The scenery is amazing, it takes you away from the regular every day life activities and allows you to relax and unwind with nature. I would highly recommend this place. If you are seeking somewhere outside of the traditional hotel style this place is top of this list, also it is a stone throw away from Jamaica famous Boston jerk, the best jerk spot worldwide.
TEM QUE IR | MUST GO
Melhor lugar que fiquei hospedada na Jamaica toda! Tem uma praia privada perfeita , incrível , inexplicável o quão bom foi
Paradise
This place was EXACTLY what I needed and I am so grateful it exists. I stayed for 2 nights just as a short imprompu personal get-away and was pleasanlty surprised by natural design of the place. The rooms, creatively designed with plenty of attention to arty detail, are weaved into a mystical landscape of lush greenery with seating, and hammocks scattered in the sweetest little rest spots. The cliff on the outskirts of the property boast the most amazing sea view that I've come upon in Jamaica to date. The staff members were super friendly and very helpful and I enjoyed the complimentary breakfast a lot. I enjoyed the fact that there were some activities on the weekend like yoga and also a cultural show, which I imagined would be the usual cheesy tourist entertainment - sleepy meno band or something Bob Marley, but it actually turned out to be great fantastic little show with youths from the area and I had great fun! The place has a nice energy about it and my heart was happy just being there and moving between the trees from the pool, to my cute room, to the little hidden meditation spots. I HIGHLY recommend staying at great huts. It's clean, safe, beautiful and good value for money. I will be going back every single chance I get... I found my 'spot' :)
Living in the jungle
Quite tropical jungle feeling with Cliffs and blue ocean waters with it private beach. Couples massage was amazing while listening to the waves crash on the rocks and the surfers calls for the big waves to come. Dining was amazing like eating in jungles. Lol All the huts had their own uniques. Love this place and will be back with friends and family.
I stayed in the Akan Tower hut, private shower but shared toilets. The hut was more than adequate, nice & close to the beach, lobby area & walking path. The views from this property are nothing short of breathtaking. Food was very good & reasonably priced. Jerk pit is right at your doorstep for additional options.
Stunning Great Huts
Fantastic Hotel, amazing design, Art and ambience. Built into the cliffs of stunning Port Antonio. The staff were helpful and friendly. We will definately return
Great Huts is a piece of paradise! The staff and service is outstanding yet you have the freedom to be in the resort enjoying your private time.
Love the culture and rustic vibe, awesome customer service
Expected more for the price
Stayed in the African Sunrise. Don’t get me wrong, the view was absolutely incredible. But it wasn’t very polished, wasn’t very well constructed. Super creaky bed, almost worthless shower, rusty roof, clearly hadn’t received any love in a long time. Also random things about the resort turned me off a bit — the TVs playing CNN (I’m trying to escape from it all, not hear about politics), slow service in the bar and restaurant, weak drinks.
Room not ready upon arrival. Rude server refused my order at the kitchen
Great staff, great location, a bit expensive
Had a great stay at Great Huts. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location, nicely isolated. Only down point is the price. Rooms could be a bit cheaper. Same with the food at the restaurant, which we found expensive for small portions and quite average. Just don't forget to bring cash with you as the only ATM is in Port Antonio (nearby local restaurants are cheaper and potentially better). Wifi was also down for more than 24 hrs.
Great staff, great environment, beautiful location
We spent two nights at Great Huts. One night in the Tabernacle hut, and one night in the Lemba hut. The staff was very kind and helpful. They helped us with a few technical issues: no water in Lemba hut, either hot or cold, but security guy called the engineer and managed to fix it by himself within less than an hour (these guys are amazing!). Wifi did not work for more than 24hrs, but that happens a lot in the area (only one provider). We also found one very large cockroach in the sink of our room at night time, which is the price to pay to be in the middle of nature (just be aware!). The food was probably the down point (limited choice, average quality, quite expensive). I would recommend restaurants outside Great Huts, but make sure to bring some cash with you! (only ATM is in Port Antonio, so make sure to withdraw before leaving!). To travel around, I would advise using local route taxis (shared taxis picking passengers on the way). You can grab them from main roads and its JA$150 (~US$1) from Port Antonio to Great Huts (private taxi organized by Great Huts was US$30!). Other than that, the area is beautiful and great! Great Huts is close to the Blue Lagoon, has its private beach and two small pools. Great for a retreat. Great shows on Saturday night.
It was a great hotel, the staffs were very nice and food was great.
Wrong description on hotels.com for Keimah room !
I had booked accommodation Keimah and according to the description Keimah has "3 bed rooms and 2 bath rooms" for 95 US $/night . Upon arrival we were given an iron sheet hut (1 room) with 3 beds. The 2 bath rooms were explained as: "outside you have male bathroom, and next there is the bathroom for females, all to be shared with other customers". Wrong description on the Hotels.com website !!! After I complained that I had booked 3 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms, we were given the very nice Mandinka room in the house. The staff added an additional bed. Even further from the restaurant & reception, the wifi was good. Staff very helpful, restaurant good and good food, all together (in the Mandinka room....) very nice and pleasant stay at the property !
Great Huts is a beautiful place, conceptualized by Dr. Paul to resemble an African village with huts, beach and facilities all connected through a series of lush paths. There is an exquisite beach with a staff of lifeguards and surf instructors. There are also 2 pools and a walking path along the cliffs. We stayed in Africa House in a fabulous space with doors opening directly to the pool, the sun and amazing views. There are over-the-top amenities and the staff is beyond accommodating. For example, when I mentioned that I was getting mosquito bites, a lovely staff person brought me organic insect repellent. The restaurant is lovely, though dark, and the food good. We HIGHLY recommend Great Huts. Also down the road are Jerk places and a fabulous ITAL restaurant.
Our stay at great huts was extraordinary. My partner and i stayed 9 days with the intention of grounding ourselfs and completely unwinding. We were so relaxed we hardly left the resort! Waking up to sunshine, sipping blue mountain coffee, eating an amazing breakfast
If You're looking for an Upscale Rugged Living in a Hut Adventure this is the Place. Incredible Views of the Sea and Jungle Landscape. Friendly Surroundings. Beautiful Beach. Very Good Food.
It was different from anthing I have ever experienced. Once in a lifetime experience
I loved the resort. Unfortunately I was placed in a hut next to the reception and was constantly exposed to noises of its traffic, including the night with security on guard. I’m a light sleeper and would rather be in the part of the complex where I could hear only sounds of nature. Otherwise the place is really great, but I did go there to get rested which without proper sleep isn’t really possible.
Fantastic place ... so different !!!
Water went off on the last night but came back on when i reported it they could have done better with the food portion at breakfast but overall a lovely place to stay
Amazing place!
Great Huts was the best place we visited on our trip around Jamaica. Actually so nice that we extended our stay. It’s located on the cliffs with an amazing view over the ocean, and at the same time the huts are in the middle of the “forrest”. If you want to see something different and experience «Africa» in Jamaica, this is the place to go.
Neat experience
Amazing grounds and attention to detail on the property. The room itself was disappointing - the beds were uncomfortable, there was a fire ant infestation one night because the rains apparently caused them to come up, we also had two very large crabs in the room (larger than my hand), which was ok but a bit unsettling at first because they were not the cute little hermit crabs we were expecting to see. Neat experience, but the huts themselves are more rustic than camping (where you can control what comes into your tent by zipping it shut). The people who work there are all very friendly and helpful. Service for each meal took about an hour.
Nice hotel close to the beach
Nice hotel close to the beach. Had a great experience. I would go back again.
Granary hut stay - 3 nights
I drove from Kingston to Great huts on my own. The coastal road is not very good so it took me twice the expected time to arrive in Great Huts. This place is unique and you feel completely taken by the atmosphere during your stay The Granary hut was comfortable and in line with the description from website. Shower and bathroom are 10-15 meters away. You can hear the sea, the wind, the rain during the night. Mosquitos come out mainly in the morning.
Unique, unusual, but most enjoyable...
Amazing...unique...unusual...all these and more. Not everyone's cup of tea, but personally thoroughly enjoyed my 3 night stay. Most reviews I read before booking were positive, so with only myself to appease, I went along and booked. And so glad I did! The whole complex was great, the staff all went that bit extra to be helpful, and surrounding areas, and Port Antonio itself, were great. Hope to come back. Met some great people, too, during my stay.
Best vacay experience, 1st time in Port Antonio
We stayed in African sunrise hut. The views were surreal and the hut amenities were just right for the rustic feel. All of the meals we ate at the restaurant was authentic, delicious Jamaican food.
Cool concept but not satisfied
The concept was really cool...staff were very nice!! Loved the beach even tho you have to pay for it when I think it should be free for those that stay at hotel.. it's great for surfing ! The place looked nice but both pools were very dirty and needs to be updated cause decor is cracked and numberation stating how deep the pools are ! It smelled awful and looked like it had months without being cleaned ! Rooms HAVE to be updated, I understand the type of hotel it is but how it's set up its Not cool. There were flying roaches and little frogs in the room since it was like outdoor. The sink was very dirty no toothpaste or conditioner was provided. There was a crab in bathtub. Bed smelled bad everything smelled BAD! Same music all day which was getting annoying some of the rooms you will have to bath and use bathroom on the outside. Food was not bad (only had breakfast once) locals were very nice but watch when you buy stuff cause they will tell you a price then later will say it's another one but higher! Overall great location it could be better and cleaner ! Will not visit again.
Delightful!
I had a delightful time!
It's a wonder!
Great Huts is a phenomenal nature compatible oasis with delightful food. It's one of the few places where you can have great foods made to order, splendid views of Jamaica's terrific landscape and enjoy the tranquility of coastal vegetation and beach. There's also ready access to a popular and well-maintained local beach and the famed Boston Jerk huts and shops are just a stroll away. It's akin to a eco-wonder that is tastefully packaged and VERY authentic! I especially enjoyed how hospitable the staff was without being overbearing, and absolutely enjoyed the free/donation-based yoga in the mornings on the rock trail and gazebo with the ocean view. Yea, I really loved it!
Great Adventure with some room for improvement
Great Huts is a rustic and hospitable place for a great adventure. High marks for: funky, natural style, beautiful private cove beach, and accommodating service. Downsides: intermittent wifi, uncomfortable bed, restaurant leaves much to be desired. visitors be ware: great hits is situated at the end of the road of the Boston Bay Jerk Center--- while this is a must taste/see experience of the region, getting in and out of the hotel was consistently tricky due to the amount and intensity of hustlers swarming you. Come with a good attitude, a sense of adventure, and a few extra JAM$$ and you'll be fine.
Great Resort to Get Away!!!
I really enjoyed visiting Great Huts. It was truly a relaxing experience and I would definitely return. The staff was excellent from start to finish. They ensured that I was constantly informed and would ensure my comfort at all times. The food was excellent and the bartender kept me constantly entertained. The views of the ocean were amazing as were the beautiful huts and statues. I would certainly recommend Great Huts as a great vacation getaway!!
Great place. I would go back.
The hotel is in a great location, with access to a private beach, a pool and a beautiful view of the ocean from a cliff. Great care has been taken to make your stay comfortable with benches, swings, and beach chairs everywhere. The food was pretty good. The Internet access sucked. Dinner took a while to get there, but they had local entertainment in the form of singing and drumming and dancing to keep us entertained (Saturday night only).
Wonderful experience!!
This was amazing, we got a free upgrade to the Queen of Sheba suite and we were delightfully surprised. From the outdoor shower to the upstairs attic nook myself and children were beyond satisfied. We indulged on the free breakfast which although moderately portioned, you could add bacon or meat for a nominal fee. I really enjoyed the roof top cliff side pool! Amazing experience and location. I go to jamaica at least once a year and always try somewhere different and this hotel is a must return to!
What a place!!!
Great, great Customer Service. Food was great, view was spectacular. The rooms are totally out of this world.
Great Huts, a sort of camping experience.
This is an investing place; kind of like camping, but you are in a hut .. yes a real hut .. the attraction is the unspoiled surroundings and a very nice local beach next door at walking distance .. if you are looking for luxury, this is not it .. its back to the basics on this one, but you are in touch here with the real Jamaica .. hotel serves great food, or go to the locals next door .. its a 2.5 hour drive from Kingston over terrible roads .. best is to have a taxi reserved by Great Huts for you (for safety) .. its US$150 one way, but I would not trust any taxi driver to be honest. The roads are in terrible shape, so be prepared !!! otherwise, if you are into beautiful surrounding, great food, and back to the basics, this is a wonderful experience to try ...
Very cool experience!
This place very much captures the "town in the forest" feel. The huts and facilities were built all around the surrounding jungle, and it makes for quite an atmosphere. Some people seem to be upset with the lack of personal showers/bathrooms, but that is what you are getting yourself into and if you can't handle that then try out someplace else... but you'll be sorry you did! I wish we had spent more time here, rather than elsewhere in Jamaica (especially Negril).
Great location, full of character
Had a lovely time at Great Huts - super facilities and lots of character!
The perfect getaway
My husband and I needed a quick break from the polar vortex and set off for Great Huts. We have travelled all over the world and were pleasantly surprised to find a place so rustic and exotic so close by. We stayed in the African Sunrise which was a wonderful adventure itself. The staff were all helpful and friendly.
Funky, Buggy Treehouse on a Cliff
Great Huts is a funky, African-inspired property at the end of a busy street. There is plenty of parking and you can get to Boston Bay on foot, or utilize the property's small, cave-like beach or small cliff pool. We were upgraded to the "Guard House", a second floor hut, as our original hut, "Lemba," was double-booked. The hut was very cool with a private bathroom and plenty of space (some of the huts use a shared bath). There is a main house which houses the check-in area, kitchen, public access computer and plenty of books on the lower level and has a restaurant/lounge and bar upstairs. Breakfast is included and delicious, but other dining options are expensive --you're better off going off the property to eat. (However, the vendors on the street outside the property are very aggressive. Negotiate the price for anything you're going to buy beforehand.) There is a very cool cliff area with benches at the top of the Great Huts property - check it out around sunset for some great picture-taking with a drink in hand. Service was mediocre, except for Andre at the bar, who was wonderful. Everyone else didn't really seem to care, and check-out took way too long. One other thing to note - the property is VERY, VERY buggy. We got absolutely attacked by mosquitoes, even using DEET bug spray. All in all, this was a very cool property with some great spots to chill, but we would not return.
Great huts made a great trip
Great for adventurous travelers. I wouldn't say it's a great place for younger kids though. Staff is very friendly and will ale care of anything you need. Just be prepared to be bombarded by all of the venders in the market when you come and go. All friendly people though.
Amazing!
What a beautiful property. My husband and I had a wonderful time and recommend it to anyone going to Jamaica.
We are returnees for a reason
We first visited Great Huts in 2011, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay (at that time, we stayed in the Bamboo Hut). We loved the ambiance (the fusion of Afro-Caribbean culture). The food was great, the beach was great, the scenery was relaxing and inviting...all in all, a great experience. This time around, we were looking for something new, but everything in this price range fell short. So, we happily returned...and were not disappointed at all. This time, we stayed in the Lemba Hut, and again, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We just love Great Huts, and now that we live here in Jamaica, we'll definitely be back again!
Quiet long-weekend
This is a funky and off the beaten track place where a friend and I stayed after a meeting in Kingston. It is relaxed, quiet, comfortable and with really lovely staff. It was a good base to explore along the coast from. The little beach is shaded and protected and a great place t just laze around in a hammock reading.
Unique vision

Beautiful setting and wonderful property, a true unique gem, that has been loved for decades by the owner. Roberta, one of the staff, was exceptionally kind and helpful and made my stay unforgettable. Thanks Great Huts!
