Nice place to stay
The rooms were a little small but comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful
Loved this hotel
Absolutely perfect!
Great location, but has issues
Great Location and easy private parking. Rooms very nice but bathrooms need updating to walking in showers. Pool area very small and not enough brolly’s for shade. Backs on to a scruffy building which initially looks like part of the hotel but not. Expensive for what you get.
Fine stay in stunning area
Fine. Amazing breakfast. Parking was added to our bill when e didn’t use it so please check! That was naughty.
Blocks from the market in Aix en Provence. Really nice property with great breakfast buffet, balcony room and lovely pool.
I liked the hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. No early check in however and i expected more of the gym from a hotel of this caliber. No English TV channels considering much of the cliental appears to be english speaking.
We were actually sick and took 2 days here to recover. The staff were amazing caring for us!
Beautiful pool and outdoor area. Desk staff were great. Waiters were rude. Good walking distance to Coeurs Mirabou.
Great Hotel
Fantastic Hotel. Will be back soon.
Single beds could be a little wider and not so close together.
It was ok. Service was slow at dinner
Great place, walking distance from downtown Aix-en-Provence, great food and very friendly staff.
Great location and very friendly and helpful staff
First time in Aix. Close to transportation hubs (rail and bus) close to cour Mirabeau heart of city, shopping, dining. Classy hotel, outstanding service and breakfast. Will not look for alternate accommodation if we return.
Couldn’t sit in my deck because too many tiny mosquitoes
Beautiful hotel with very good staff and wonderful breakfast buffet .
Great hotel in Aix
This is a beautiful hotel with tasty décor. It is very clean and the hotel staff are very friendly. The breakfast buffet is excellent! It is both gourmet and healthy!
Very friendly staff and clean facility. Easy parking at hotel!
Wonderful hotel in the heart of Aix!
Thai hotel felt luxurious and paid attention to details that made a difference. I highly recommend
nice hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Very clean and conveniently located near city center and sightseeing locations. We enjoyed our stay very much.
It's always the staff that makes a hotel truly luxury, and the team of Grand Hotel Roi Rene made it spot on! We felt welcomed from the moment that we get off our car to the moment that we get back on our car and leave the property. It was beyond expectation and superb compared with other hotels in Europe
Lovely garden. Very quiet. Great location.
Excellent staff, clean and nice hotel.
Great stay and amazing location!
Great location. It's a 5 min walk to the city centre. comfy beds, spacious rooms.
Older couple
The rooms are very small and there is next to no furniture beyond the bed.
perfect
This is a wonderful hotel in a lovely city. The rooms are very comfortable and well-appointed, the hotel is spotless and the service impeccable. The hotel is perfectly located in close walking distance to the old city and the attractions. Highly recommend.
Wonderful stay! Would definitely return!
It was in the center of the city. Room was really clean and staff was vety helpful.
Absolutely lovely hotel and staff perfect for our needs. Room well equipped with toiletries and a kettle. Stayed in a lot of places never been given complimentary water on a daily basis too. Extremely accommodating & helpful front desk 👏👏👏👏
Great place to stay in Aix
Great place to stay. Centrally located. Friendly staff, and very nice room.
Mediocre rooms, shower head broke, nothing special just convenient to town
A great stay
Nice hotel in a good location
Nice hotel in a good location, the only disappointment was the pillows (too soft) & bed linen un-ironed. Otherwise it is a good hotel with friendly staff.
Excellent customer service
Excellent service. In particular the breakfast staff. Many thanks.
It was ok. Didn’t expect too much and also didn’t get too much. It was acceptable
A very pleasant room, great breakfast and very handy to the city centre.
Good location for walking to the old town.
The hotel was well maintained and comfortable. It was clean and they took extra precautions for prevention of spread of COVID. The only difficulty for me as a disabled person was that the bathtub/shower had a solid glass partition that made it tricky to get in or out.
Lovely hotel
Lovely hotel, close to the centre. Very walkable and staff were very helpful.
Disappointing
May have been the smallest hotel room i've stayed in ever. i'm in tourism and travel a lot...can't remember one this small. Room smelled of cigarette smoke and the carpets were worn and dirty. Staff were pleasant and the breakfast was good. the location is very good for exploring Aix on foot. i would not send a client to this hotel.
The hotel is conveniently located right next to "old city" of Aix-en-Provence, which makes it an ideal location to visit Aix. The personnel was also quite helpful. The parking onsite is quite limited, so it is critical to reserve ahead of time. The breakfast buffet was great, we did not try lunch or dinner. The room we had (a suite) was ok, but not very large. We would probably reserve a room with a large balcony next time. The only downside of this hotel is that you have to reserve your seat to enjoy the pool -- this requires a little too much thinking ahead when you have kids with you!
Massively overpriced
The room description on the website versus the actual room - MASSIVE difference in quality. Room allocated was very poor in comparison
The rooms were very clean and well maintained. The terraces were nice to be able to sit on and enjoy a glass of wine.
Excellent, food, service, helpful staff, clean room
Missleading representation
The images shared are missleading. The pool barely fits 4 people, the rooms are deteriorated, the door knobs are falling out, the ventilation in the bathroom barely works, the coffee in the rooms is not always replaced... Overall a very bad experience.
Pleasant staff, very efficient barman and pleasant bar area and restaurant. Pool area is small with screens around it, so not as pretty from inside the hotel as the pictures show when advertised The room is good, quality Occitane toiletries, good air conditioning, fridge but not stocked, nice queen bed and bedding. Location ideal at edge of old town.
It’s an old hotel that needs to be renovated... it’s far from my previous good experiences at other Sofitel’s.
The staff and service was excellent! The pool was a godsend. The location super convenient! And when we were stuck in Roque-d’Anthéron (45 minutes away) after a piano concert at midnight with no taxi or uber available, we called them and they sent a cab for us!
For the amount of money that we paid for this hotel, it was not worth it. The first room we stayed in there was mould in the shower, stained carpets and water damage on the ceiling. We asked to switch to a cleaner room which they granted, and it was a bit better. However little things were not right, for example no soap left in the shower dispenser so had to use shampoo and we were only given 1 towel for the both of us. This should not happen when staying in an expensive hotel. On the positive staff was courteous and friendly.
So So
Great location, helpful staff and nice lobby, however, the hallway and our room was run down and not clean. Disappointed that it didn't live up to other reviews in that regard.
Excellent hotel - clean and comfortable with friendly staff.
Overall, we like our stay at this hotel. We just were disappointed by the price of a local call (same city). It cost us more than 100 euros for 20mn!!
Perfect location in Aix, nice hotel!
My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in our visit to Aix. We loved the hotel, walking distance from the train and bus stations, as well as to the main city center places to visit. Breakfast buffet was great. Friendly staff.
We will be back!
This is our second time at this hote and I would highly recommend it. They go out of their way to accommodate all of your needs. We will come again for sure.
No value for money
Room was basic and no way worth the money paid. Carpets balding, things half screwed to the wall...what luxuries was the €270 buying? Reception staff friendly and beds ok. Ideal for old town. Could never recommend the hotel.
Great hotel had a wonderful stay however the carpet in my room need cleaning.
A beautiful property, with friendly bilingual staff that spoke English very well, and they allowed us to have a late checkout, and store our luggage in their baggage area for a few hours.
Nice and compétent people and good service
It truly was a very bad experience at all aspects. I lost my hope at the first sight when I saw the carpet in the corridor. Old elevator all most dangerous. Trust me I can go on on, except the location and the breakfast every thing about this place was disappointing and disgusting. This place needs one great renovation and all new around new faces. The manager was extremely professional unfortunately when she had arrived when was already to late and the damages were done by her staff. For Expedia is a disgrace to have this hotel on their list.
the air conditioning does not work, a lot of heat in the room
Lovely hotel in old town
Rooms lovely but small. Pool also very comfortable but nowhere near enough loungers. Very close to lovely restaurants and bars. Staff super polite and friendly.
Welcoming staff and nice comfortable air conditioned rooms. Perfectly located
Love it!
Very nice hotel, good location, great breakfast.
The room assigned to us spoiled our stay
Our room was small and overlooked the refuse collection area at the back of the building which woke us early in the morning when refuse bins were collected.
Very nice hotel close to the center of town.
Good reliable hotel in Aix
Good hotel to explore Aix
Excellent convenient location in a luxury environm
I was able to feel relaxed and comfortable in the Hotel lobby and pool and bar areas as well as my lovely room. The hotel is centrally located and I was able to park my car downstairs, however I don't think I should have been charged extra for parking.
I went to Aix-en-Provence to see a friend and decided to stay at this hotel. The deluxe room was spacious and really nice. The breakfast was great and so was the bar. I truly recommend staying here!
Very pleasant hotel centrally located in Aix
A very pleasant stay although somewhat spoilt by a limited menu. Being centrally located it was an easy walk to good value restaurants. Secure underground parking for car owners a definite benefit but the hotel charge for this facility. Swimming pool in the centre of the hotel complex which meant it was in shade part of the day but nice setting.
Hot room with no air conditioning
The hotel has an old HVAC system that can only run air or heat but not both. It is something that I don’t expect to find in a 4-star hotel. The air conditioning has been shut down during our stay last week. Temperature in my west facing room reached over 90 degree fahrenheit at day time and 80’s at night. It was too hot to sleep so I had to open the window and shade throughout the night despite there was no screen. On a different note, I found that one of the front desk persons was less than professional. When my girlfriend and I asked for restaurant recommendation, he insisted that we wanted to go to bars frequent by guys.
Wonderful long weekend
Fabulous hotel, excellent service, breakfast and a stylish hotel... and a close stroll to beayutiful aix en province centre. Perfect. Thank you.
The hotel was very nice and in a good location
Would stay here again
Nice, clean, centrally located hotel. Rooms were spacious and clean. Pool area was comfortable and lovely. Only complaint was concierge pushing the hotel restaurant.
Very comfortable hotel and felt well looked after.
I stayed here on my own before joining friends at another location. The staff were all lovely and couldn't have done more to make me feel welcome. Room very comfortable and it was great to have the swimming pool when the weather was so hot.
Good hotel near the center of town
Only a 6 minute walk to the Cours Miribeau ,an well run hotel with a pool in the heart of Aix. Clean cool bedrooms.
Big beautiful hotel in a cute town!
Aix en Provence was added last to our trip to France and we are so happy we did because other than Paris this was our favorite city we went to. The Rene Roi hotel did not disappoint. It was clean, very friendly, had a great restaurant, and a beautiful pool. The room was clean and spacious. The hotel doesn't look like it has much around it when you get to it, but as soon as you walk 2 minutes up the road you have everything your heart could desire. Bars, Restaurants, cafes, shops. It's the cutest little town and this hotel almost feels like it doesn't fit in because it's modern and fancy. We loved that we had a comsfortable room to return to after walking so much. STAY HERE!
good hotel close to main square
Only short distance to main square abundance of returants and bars lovely old town of aix en Provence only 30 min taxi from marseille airport
This hotel checks all the boxes!
This Hotel embodies the spirit of Aix en Provence, elegant with a playful spirit. Very comfortable, well appointed rooms, good food and drink, great hard working staff always willing to help. A special thanks to Christine, an exceptional Concierge, who possesses that special blend of professionalism and warmth and provided helpful suggestions and answers to our many questions.
Lovely hotel in great location
Enjoyed a lovely 2 night break at the hotel in August 2017, it was perfect for what I needed - a well-equipped comfortable room, gym facilities in the hotel, and pool. Staff were very friendly and helpful whenever I needed any information.
Great hotel but tiny room
Staff were brilliant. Organised local hairdresser for my wife and other family members. Could not have been more helpful.
High hopes - dashed!
Very disappointed. On arrival after long hot journey we were anxious to take a shower. Shower not working at all and not fixed until following morning. Even then shower head kept falling out of position into bath. Hand basin unable to be used because waste corroded in open position. Basin tap extremely difficult to use and could be impossible for elderly people. Ventilation/ extractor in bathroom not working and so bathroom uncomfortably hot. This demonstrated a total lack of maintenance to the bathroom. It would appear that all the money has been spent downstairs on the public areas to impress the visitors. However our bathroom and bedroom did not impress at all.
Lovely place from which to do a bit of sightseeing
Hotel is central so if seeing the city is your thing then it's great. I was on business however so travelling in and out was not ideal. Parking is very limited so expect to pay €20 per day. Standard room was fairly small for the price and the bathroom was tiny. But everything of very good quality. Service was immaculate, especially breakfast. Very nice cooked and continental food sat out in the courtyard by the pool. Get there early as on a warm day it's very popular!
Very small rooms area relatively far from main street
Perfect hotel near downtown and Centre de Congres.
Excellent across the board. And the breakfast buffet was also excellent.
Ex en Province visit.
Wonderful hotel in a centralized location. Ex en Provence is a beautiful city to visit. The front desk staff and porters were very professional and courteous. Note parking fee is additional (as in many of the hotels we visited). I recommend this hotel very highly.
Very well located
Personnel very nice. Breakfast was average and refills of the buffet were very slow. Service at bkfast was not constant in quality
Highly Recommended
This is a lovely hotel with great staff. If you visit Aix, stay here.
Don't judge a book by its cover
From the outside, the hotel doesn't look that great, but once inside, it is quite nice and the staff are professional and friendly.
Tired and Grubby
It was the worst hotel I have stayed in whilst travelling in Europe. The hotel is rated 4 star and should be 2. I was initially shown 2 rooms that smelt like cigarette ash trays. The third the carpet was full of stains.
need better service
very small room average bathroom
Beautiful oasis in the middle of the city
Elegant hotel with greenery, pool and sumptuous breakfasts, centrally located in one of France's prettiest cities.
Gracious first impression of Aix-en- Provence
Most pleasant and comfortable room. Inside room overlooking pool and gardens was very nice. Efficient and friendly staff. Very nice breakfast. would stay again if in area.
Weekend break at Roi Rene hotel
Short Spring break. Pleasant swimming pool and terrace area although does not compare with the pool at the nearby Aqua Bella hotel. It sounds petty but we were disappointed that only one coffee and one tea bag per person was provided daily.
Visiting grandaughter at Uni in Aix.
Hotel recommended by daughter who did same trip 2 weeks earlier. Lived up to all our expectations and more.
Great Stay
Great Hotel, Staff were excellent. I stayed here for 4 weeks and could not have been looked after any better, will definitely stay here again.
Nice hotel. Close to shops, restaurants, museum
Very nice room, well lit, spacious and with the best amenities. Lovely breakfast. Close to transport, restaurants, shops.
Great stay
Great location for exploring Aix. Polite and helpful staff. Plentiful breakfast. Brilliant mixologist in calm and relaxing bar area.
Very good hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Great location too!
