I only stayed around 6 hours check in around 8 pm and left around 2:30 am I was generous with the staff. but I went down to the restaurant to get dinner from the buffet it was only for 20 minutes when I was back in my room it was clear that someone entered my room I check my stuff I thought I didn’t miss anything (I was tired ) but when I arrived to the airport at the security checkpoint I found out that my new $300 sunglasses is missing that 20 minutes was the only time I was away from my bag so I know someone from the hotel took it and the annoying part I bought the glasses as a gift and it was hard to find.

We booked the executive rooms and we didn’t get the rooms which were in the picture. It’s was bad. Even the bed linen was torn. Disappointed!

Almost perfect

The customer service manager and the entire customer service team were great. Shout out to the customer service manager that organized a tour of Carthage for me; an unforgettable experience! I understand saving energy costs, but the room was never really cool due to the fact they don't cool the rooms prior to a guest's arrival and you always need to leave your room key in the slot in order to maintain power. I was rarely comfortable in my room as a result. The pool is glorious and the buffet breakfasts while repetitive were nutrious, varied and delicious.

I like this hotel and as I travel through Tunis regularly I would recommend. However, the check in and check out process is slow and on my last trip the hotel double charged me for a 1 night stay.....disputing it now. I Suspect they don't understand the third party booking process and billing. Maybe they will improve.....

The facility is nice and the food at the buffet is tasty and good portions/choice available

Our group of seven stayed at Golden Tulip El Mechtel before heading south to desert, and again on our return from the south. The hotel is modern, staff very helpful, rooms excellent, great wifi and lots of dining options. Particularily enjoyed the new Jobi bar/restaurant. We are planning a return trip next year and will use this hotel as our Tunis base again. Highly recommended.

I have stayed here before and have recommended to my employers to book me this hotel whenever i transit or have business in Tunis. Golden Tulip is a brand name in the Hotel trade and it has lived up to its brand. Was happy with all aspects of the hotel

Property and rooms are outdated. Couches in room not comfortable at all. Small pool. Breakfast buffet was limited but good. Overall you get what you pay for.

An Excellent Hotel

The staff and management were very professional, and respectful towards my needs. I was provided an excellent driver (Trustworthy/ loyal) that if I were to go back again, I would ask for the same driver. The food was incredible, the hotel itself was amazing, and all I can say is that I love this place. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Tunis for the first time.

Dirty room

I did not get a non smoking room,Carpet floor was disgusting,bathroom wall has a blood or dirt stain,tissue boxes are empty.bath and shower tub missing sliding glass door.I had to use bathroom electric outlets to charge my phone,it was only one available in the room,but it was not working. People were talking loudly all night long at the front gate and in the parking lot!! The bad was confortable.

The hotel is on a busy street.

There was no electric in the room. I waited over an hour for maintenance to fix it. Also the fridge wasn't working they had to replace it. They wouldn't accommodate nothing or even had an apology from a manager. Definitely I would pick a different hotel next year.

The hotel was fine, but we were asked to put everything we owned through a an xray machine regardless of having a room key proving we were staying there! and expected to tip when entering and exiting the building! , and to top it off the Maid service walked in on us at 815 am the morning after our wedding day because we forgot to put the sign of out.. (But what hotel has house keeping at 815 am!???) and each morning regardless if we had the sign out or not our door was knocked on atleast 4 times then our last morning there we had a fight with maid service about check out time at 1050am we were asked to leave by house keeping because check out was at 11...when actually it was at 12, she treated us like we were lying to her until we showed her the hotel card slip where it was printed! Other than thatThe hotel was nice, but in a rough area....oh And the food there very expensive 5 denar for a can of coke and 5 for 2 small scoops of old Icecream in a plastic cup where we had to wait 10 Min's for someone to attend to us while reception just started at us!

I must say that the hotel itself is ok for the price; But if like me and my family come from a long trip and if you want just to sleep you will request at least a quite room/ during my stay a wedding party was organized and we hear noise in our bedroom which was in the 5th flor/// So I am realy upset : If you like tunisian music it s ok and if you are invited in the wedding it is better but if you have bad luck and you would like to rest you should ask before maybe

Family Visit

The hotel is undergoing renovation which caused us a lot of discomfort from the loud noises. Management is trying their best to enhance services and change bad attitudes. Tourism is going through a huge challenge and the lack of good service Should be number one priority to correct

Hotel in downtown but not close to anything

The hotel wasn't close to the airport as suggested. Yet the distance is bearable. The room itself isn't clean, it feels old. They didn't have any slippers or toilet robe. I asked for an iron the first night they said the staff is gone and I should call in the morning. In the morning, they said it can only go to the dry cleaning as they don't provide irons. At the spa, the girl was asking too many questions which I managed to handle. At payment, she gave me a price different from what she said in the beginning and was very impolite and rude then she gave me the excuse that she is diabetic!! I wanted to use the business center but they said it's not possible after 4pm and they can't help with any printing or photocopying. Just a bad hotel and services.

Very pleasant stay

I loved the stay in Golden Tulip. With the amount I paid for the stay, I got more than what I expected. Nice and clean suite. Staff is very friendly. it's one of the hotels in Tunis that is really a 4 star hotel.

ok but a few disappointing things and not to a proper standard for which it should be. Business Centre- unavailable which is poor TAXIS- hotel lets taxi drivers seemingly do as they please not enforce they use meters. Staff- Some very good and some just without care.

on arrival, pubic hairs in the bathroom credit card machine did not work - I was directed to a ATM outside the hotel to pay in cash. ATM machine outside work perfectly!! This is TOTALLY unacceptable

They don't listen

Hi, The staff are practising discrimination lauder and proudly! They do not listen at all. I asked for baby Cot many times and never got it till too late.. and guess what.. they left it about 5 meters from the room and did not bother to let me know. At check out they just neglected my request of some one helping to bring the the luggage down stairs! The most important fact that usualy hotels respect booking coming from internet based agency like you but they did not. You need to bring them back to track please. Thank You El Seddig

A hotle to avoid & dont you go near it !!

Rooms are just ok , curtains dont close probably so you get the sun in your face in mornings .shower head is loose ... Internet VERY Spotty , dont count on it to do business or make reservations , No air conditioning on a 24 celsius degrees since they said that they stop it in November for so-called winter !!! Plus its not that cheap In short I will never go there again

Rude staff, room service that took forever and cost a fortune! Pool tiny! Complete power cut with no emergency lighting! Lifts out of order had to take stairs, covered in rubbish, stained and stank of urine! No hotel staff bothering to help, slow check in and check out. I'm sure there are much friendlier hotels around. Very disappointing!

I have been in golden tulip in Morocco which ranking 4 star, that's why i booked this one in Tunisia. Nevertheless, Golden tulip in Alribat-Morocco is far better than this one in Tunisia-Tunis.

One to be avoided

3 of us spent one night here before catching a ferry from Tunis. The rooms themselves were OK, room service took ages, food was lousy, nearly all staff were extremely rude. There was a power cut with no emergency lighting even in corridors which left us stranded in the dark with no staff to help! Lifts out of action so had to take stairs which were filthy and smelt on urine with rubbish everywhere, cigarette butts and carpet fraying! I would never visit this hotel again if you paid me!!!!!!

Great place for the price!

I'm picky, but this hotel was like a light at the end of the tunnel during my stay in Tunisia. I stayed here on the last night, the bathroom was american style (full tub/showerhead), air conditioned, clean, and beds SUPER comfortable. We ordered room service and the quality of food was good, we also ate at the attached Lebanese restaurant (Alfani I believe?) really good food. For the price it was awesome. We drove to Medina Souk, and were close to super markets to grab what we need. Only downside was our refrigerator in room didn't get cold so we couldn't put anything in it to keep chilled. Free easy parking, and internet for $15 dinar a day or rates available for longer periods of time.

I liked it

I liked the hotel in general the location is not the best in the world but still my whole stay of 2 days was pleasant and smooth the rooms and bedding were superb. the staff were pleasant and welcoming. there might not be a huge spark about this hotel but I would recommended it.

Things must have changed!

We were worried booking into this hotel after reading the reviews, well things must of changed! Check in was smoothly done while we were given a welcome drink, the room was clean and tidy, the service friendly and the restaurant food excellent! Valet parking was free and efficient and all of the staff helpful! I am not a first time tourist but travel all over the world on business, some people must have had a bad day when they wrote the bad reports!

Golden Tulip El Mechtel in Tunis

This hotel is not, by no means, a four-star hotel. A four-star hotel is all about perfection of details. In my room, the safe was not working (I've been told it the same in all rooms), AC was poor, the shower was broken, and internet conection was expensive and ridiculously slow. Stay away from this place.

However the service is lower as expected for this category: > check-in not professionnal (many issues including with electronic key card) > staff not service oriented > difficulty to get drinks at bar > horrible check-out with long queue while many positions can be set up

Not recommended: - traffic noise is considerable - mini bar fridge was not working, drinks were warm - sandwich ordered were mediocre for its price and it took almost an hour to bring it to the room - pool area is dirty (including bird excrements) and it's also noisy from the streets - breakfast was ok, but worse than in other 4star hotels I have been
