Practical location, very budget, not cost bit comfortable for what you pay.
Room was clean and felt safe.
Great for solo travelers. Little bit noisey as in a busy area but conveniently close to train and bus stations.
Excellent value, walking distance to ferry. Clean. Very comfortable bed and nice pillows. Would stay again.
Great value, very clean and well-appointed room, excellent location as a quick walk to eateries and Britomart etc. Did wake up smelling food cooking throughout the night as there is a shared kitchen etc, but otherwise excellent.
Room is clean and tidy for a budget price. Place is near to shopping, food and train station. Highly recommended. Will book again!
Checking in, the staff made me feel like I was imposing just by checking in, but did help me lug my baggage up their stairs because there is NO elevator/lift. Layout is awkward and not very accessible but hotel location in nicely in quiet area of town & by neat little park and easy walking to large shopping and dinning hub. The room I had was oddly detailed in plain cheap wood panels, restroom fan didn't work, and not many outlets to use. Plus tiny desk/table space, weird placement of TV and the shower was so odd. It had no door, just small section of wall and water pooled nearly beyond shower area toward toilet with floor slightly slanted to drain, but not well. No shelf or holder for your soaps & toiletries, just had to put them on the floor. The heat pump & AC had a strong scent maybe of a spiced food that lingered for a long time. And oddly, all night I was kept up by clear clicking/creaking sound like the walls were settling with a change in temperature. Gamma is certainly a cheap hotel. Does the job of a place to sleep & bath but not very comfortably. I even had lots of trouble calling for trying to get info as the reception person's English was poor & they couldn't understand me despite spelling my name out 4 times and not in a hurry. The bed was fine at least and slightly soft towels, but hard to judge after 2 months in a camper van.
Great location 👌
Good choice of hotel for where we wanted to travel/move around from and also to meet friends. Hotel staff extremely nice and friendly and amenities in hotel and room were great. We will stay there again if in Auckland
Great value!
The staff was a very nice and let us checked in few hours earlier
A quiet little hotel in downtown Auckland, 15 walk to train station and harbour. flat screen tv , fridge, kettle, microwave it is like a self contained single rooms hostel with your own bathroom, without the crowd, there are some cooking utensils in the common area, but I haven't seen anyone using it yet. Issues, 1. they need some hanging hooks in the bathroom and bedroom, by the wall, not above the fridge. 2. It's on a hilly slope, so you may want to hail an UBER 3. there are steps need to climb up and down to get to your room.
Good calue for money. A reliabme place to stay.
Excellent value and great location
Good value
Good value stay in the centre of Auckland. Rooms are snug but tidy and clean. There is a communal kitchen with an air fryer, microwave and fridge. However it does lack a lot of things. There is no tin opener, only a couple of plates and no bowels. If you want cereal in the morning you'll need to use a cup!! Also note, I did notice the odd bug in the communal kitchen on the floor.
Excellent overall for the price
Needed somewhere for the night last minute and found this place. It was great and just what we needed.
No thanks, good
Great value for money. Awesome location for spark arena and queen street. Friendly check in crew and easy parking (only $15 extra) Comfy bed and clean too. With everything you’d need.
Great location and a good price. Park right across the road, Britomart 2mins walk away.
Close and convenient
A budget hotel in a quiet corner just steps away from a busy city. Furnishings may be bare but the room is equipped with a microwave, fridge and kettle. This is in addition to a common kitchen equipped with a cooker, oven and various normal kitchen appliances, something not found in a higher grade hotel. You walk up a slope to reach it. Good if you are out most of the time and come back for a cheaper self-prepared meal. The staff are also helpful. Excellent value for money
bathroom drains a bit pongy
This hotel is perfect for a couple of nights near the city centre. It's not fancy but it's clean and the staff are helpful.
With in walking distance everything available.
Good but little frustrations
Room was good and clean and not too old. Nice location and staff helpful and accomodating with my late check-in, but the little things were lacking which was a bit frustrating as this could have been much better with just a little effort. There was a fridge, toaster and microwave but no plates, glasses or cutlery. There were 2 coathangers but couldnt be used as the bar was directly above the microwave. Had a small bench for making coffee but no drawers, cupboard or any flat space to put our clothes and no hooks to hang things up. Strong shower and roomy bathroom but no cabinet.
Perfect location for exploring and great value.
We ended a two-week cruise with three days at the Gamma Hotel. Our room seemed to be in the process of renovation: it was spotless but aside from the twin beds and a table and chair, it lacked furniture. The table held a microwave and a refrigerator served as the bedside stand for the beds. There was no stand for the suitcases. The shower had no soap dish or other hardware to spread towels. A very modern sink had no place to put the soap. Only two electric outlets were available (after unplugging the microwave). A single high window provided the only natural light; it looks as if the room was formerly part of an office or factory with very high ceilings. That said, it was comfortably temperature-controlled, quiet, and very clean and on the ground floor so the lack of an elevator did not cause concern. There was no housekeeping except a change of towels on the second day. If this sounds like a critical review, it is not meant to be, given the very low cost of the accommodations. It is a perfect budget value, particularly given its location about 4 blocks from the pier, ferry terminal, downtown shopping and the university. The management was very helpful in providing us an adaptor for the electric plug and an extra spoon, so we could make our own breakfast in the room.
Very good and close to town
Great find in Auckland
Great location, across the street from a little park; quiet neighborhood. Has laundry in the building, minimal fee. For the price this was a great place, rooms were clean, shower is updated- and a walk in shower. The room had a decent sized counter height refrigerator and a microwave, and there is a Woolworth somewhat nearby if you wanted groceries, or just milk and juice.
For such a reasonable price, I wasn't expecting much. Microwave, heating kettle, toaster, fridge, coffe, tea, dish soap, creamer, sugar all available. My main issue was the bed was on wheels and rolled every time I got in it. Simple fix, I pushed it to the wall. Apparently a family owned business. Pleasant people to work with. Let us store our bags until 2pm check in. Little park across the road.
Nice and convient hotel, close to amenities, really affordable for the price per night Cheers for the stay
Great location, clean and safe really good deal for the price. I would stay there again.
Nice and handy to town
The price was good. Room was as described. The bed was good. There was a party in one of the hotel rooms, which was so loud that we woke up several times. No staff is there to help after 10 pm. It was more as a backpacker hostel. For a quiet place I would better recommend another place.
Very clean tidy and Loved the bed very comfortable I'm definitely coming back to stay again and I would highly recommend this place to my friends and family 😊 thank you again kind regards herb Hari -Hari
Location is near the attractions
It was very good for the price of one night, was local to everything and walkable. Just needed to be checked under beds carefully as I found chocolate under the single bed. But that was it very good.
Nice location - 5min walk to Britomar. Older building, but room was ok.
ultra central city yet it was the sparrows chirping that woke me each morning. super clean units and really pleasant staff. recommend getting a car park in the basement - secure and hassle free.
Our suite was new and lovely , convenient quiet location
Walkable to the hub of the city.
Location, location at best and great a amenities.
The only aspect of the stay that I liked was that it was closer to the city. The cons; the moment i entered the room, it smelled of urine. Turned the air con, the smell got even worse. My friend and i went out for dinner thinking the smell would die out, however after coming back it was still there. I alerted the staff and they said they could try and fix it. After going out again in the morning and coming back, the smell was still there. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone and I wouldn’t be coming back here again. Im usually a very flexible person, however the smell was so strong that even after opening the windows it still lingered. Definitely not worth the money or the convenience of the location.
We thoroughly appreciated the flexibility with check-in that they provided. We were able to check-in very late, and leave very early! The room was clean and spacious, and the amenities were as described!
I give 10 out 10
Amazing place i stayed there for 3nights. Very clean and very comfortable bed and receptionists very friendly. Definitely be back end of march again
I was really happy with this room for the price. Only two things let it down - there was no where to put bodywash or other products in the shower, except the floor. There was also no milk to make a drink with, everything else to make hot drinks was provided
Close to City Centre. Reasonable cost Perfect for inner city stay Milk for tea or coffee would be a plus
Walkable to all transport , restaurants, ferry and luxury shopping areas
It is very handy to walk around downtown area.
Clean and comfortable and convenient distance to city
Good value for the price. Clean room.
Amazing
Clean
Fantastic and the best place to rest during our travel. Thanks for your professionalism.
A good place for a short stop over in Auckland handy to Spark arena, and easy Access to Queen st. I would stay again
The staff were friendly and the stay was nice. Clean and fresh also. I loved the location of it. The only down side would be the parking.... But all and all it was the perfect stay
Comfortable
A quiet and comfortable stay.
A clean room with good air conditioner in a quiet and beautiful neighborhood with great housekeeping in a good price
Good basic hotel
While basic it was clean and everything worked. Can't complain for the cheap price. Parking is probably the only thing that could be made easier
Served the purpose.
Convenient for where I needed to be. Stayed 2 nights. Good budget accommodation, no complaints.
Friendly service and accommodating for a very late check in
Great price, good location, comfortable beds and very clean
Right in city centre, clean, tidy, and friendly staff!
The building is old and it’s an unusual set up (weird giant wardrobes haha) but it’s absolutely fine for what you pay for. I stayed here with my 16yo son for two nights as we went to concerts both nights at Spark Arena. We parked up the car the whole time and could easily walk to shops, eating places and the concerts. Importantly, the facilities were clean and we were comfortable and my car was safe and secure in the provided park and that’s what mattered the most. Would definitely stay again next time we go to a concert.
Good budget option
Fine for a quick overnight if you're going to a concert or a show at Spark. A bit noisy with the hallway doors banging all night, really basic bed/accommodation with a pretty nice bathroom. I'd stay again as the price and location are pretty good, definitely would stay elsewhere for a more relaxing visit to Auckland.
Basic but clean and easily walkable to main CBD attractions.
Great location, we paid $100 per night, priced appropriately
Probably what one would expect for the price. It was fine for me. Good shower, bed comfortable. There was a distinct smell of cigarette smoke in the room.
Adequate for a Short Stay
I was a solo traveler staying just two nights in Auckland for an event - and it served to provide shelter and bed. It's adequate, and relatively clean and comfortable, so it is perfectly suitable for a short stay. There are noise issues, when people are drunkenly shouting in the hall and slamming doors, so the soundproofing leaves something to be desired. It could use a bedside lamp, and while a kettle was provided, no cups/mugs/glasses were provided, making the kettle a bit useless. There was a shared kitchenette area, which had quite a few bugs crawling around it the night I stopped to fill my waterbottle. And the bathroom was mostly clean, but there were a few random long, dark hairs around. There is also very little counter/bench space to leave things on, especially in the bathroom and no hangars are provided, only hooks on the wall. There were a few small rust spots on the shower floor. In saying that, if you're not after anything fancy, it will do perfectly fine for an affordable, central place to stay without any frills. If you're just after a bed for the night, it will do the job. And the staff were very accommodating for my late check-in, which I really appreciated.
Good value for thd price
Fantastic service with late check in & express checkout. Sadly the ceiling in the shower needs a wee clean, mould just starting to appear. A great wee place to stay and rest your head if you are out and about in Auckland
Value for money. Good in all regards.
Staff were super helpful went abovr and beyond i expected, place was clean and tidy easy to find. Bay front was within walking distance and had plenty of food choices.
I stay here often and the staff are always accommodating
I stay here often and the staff are always accomodating.
Its ideal for a short time if you want to stay in Auckland. City. I stayed here because I wanted to explore Rangitoto Is. but I had a show to go to too which was convenient to stay here.
I wasn’t happy with the bathroom
Exceptional service & value for money
Very helpful staff
Only one lighr no bed lights Otherwise acceptable
.
There was loud banging from 7am in the building with no pre-warning of any works nor signage to detail this. The whole place is very sub average and I would not return here.
very basic, good value for money (cheap)
Room smelt like urine when we arrived…
Weird hotel, limited facilities. Noisy
comfortable and convenient
The hotel was extremely old, and there was a smell in the room if the window wasn’t opened. I had to sleep with the window open all night. But honestly, what can you expect for a $50 hotel?
The proprety is nice and clean but nor easy to fi d parking overall good hotel
Value for money
The property has all you need for a stay in Auckland. Great sized bathroom. Small room but enough room for 2 people. Unfortunately parking is NOT included as per amenities list and will cost you $30 to park in the garage. No housekeeping unless requested although new towels were put on our bed for the second night. We were not expecting anyone to come into our room so this felt a bit odd. Overall, the room was a good rice, clean and accessible.
It's basic but it's cheap and offers value for money if you're looking for an overnight stay close to Spark Arena.
Definitely not like the pictures, loudest hotel you could book. Although the room was very warm, Not enough plugs in room. No duvet on bed, just a couple light sheets. Vomit in the hallway. Asked for an extra pillow and got side eye about it. Limited room to move. Gross bathroom, mould on windows. Place smelt really gross. You can hear EVERYTHING. If you actually want to sleep on your visit, don’t come here. Felt like a prison. Cold concrete floor under light carpet. Shower was good to be in but it definitely hasn’t been cleaned in a while. Sheets were stained.
It was ok. Staff were nice and friendly. Rooms were clean. My only problem is, no cups, glasses or plates etc
Staff were rude
Value for money, great location
Very nice place to stay. Good price
Clean with all essential amenities included.
Honestly didn’t have a problem until night 2 when it seemed like the walls or ceilings were paper thin. I’m not sure if it was another guest or a staff member but it was non stop talking very loudly, sounded as if they were in the room with me. It was past midnight and I couldn’t sleep. But everything else was fine :) it was a good location considering my trip was for an event at spark arena.
Overall, a clean and tidy location and property. Easy check in and friendly staff. Bathroom fan did not work and mould was obvious on the ceiling. TV did not get main channels.

Great location--Close to the CBD, restaurants, Britomart, the train station, the University of Auckland, and Albert Park. The hotel is across the street from a small "pocket park". The room has a microwave oven and a small refrigerator. There is a full sized kitchen if you want to use one. There is a laundry room for guest use. There is good water pressure and plenty of hot water. Cons--There is no luggage rack (good thing the floor is clean). There is no closet (the microwave and refrigerator occupied that space).
