I would not stay here again. There was no hot breakfast as advertised, could not access the underground parking, the rooms are not great, I had repeated issues with my key card not working, and the wifi was so poor at times that I could not connect to do even basic things like send emails.

Overall the stay way decent, friendly staff, room was clean. Two things stood out that annoyed me a bit, no real breakfast they out out a lunch bag each day with a juice, apple , muffin, yogurt. The second thing is they have underground parking however not available for short term guests.

This is based on the fact that it is in Ft Mac but the hotel is more like a poorly run condo air bnb. First overall look was that it wants to be a hotel but the furniture was damaged and disorganized with a layer of construction dust on everything as they complete renovations. Nice kitchenette but 2 bowls and 2 cups aren't doing me any good with nothing to cook on and no coffee filters for the machine. It was freezing in the suite and I walked to the front desk for an extra blanket as I could not change the thermostat from A/C to heat. The woman said she would "call the room phone" but there is no phone in the room. She did come up to the room with a thin sheet as my blanket because she could not find anything else. It was for a smaller bed and didn't help. After 2 nights I returned to the front desk to request the room be tidied because they only provided 2 face cloths and the garbage needed to be taken out. The woman at the desk informed me that they only clean after 3 nights .. that just did not make sense to me as they did not provide enough towels and space to allow a 3 night stay without replenishing supplies. I didn't need the floor mopped or the bed made, just some darn towels and a larger garbage bin. The amenities are non existent. Overall, I just could not stay there for another night and left early even though I ended up paying for the full time booked. I can't fault them for charging me but I was just so uncomfortable that I had to go home.

The room did not have clean furniture in it, the furniture was incredibly worn and tattered. The bathroom had broken tiles, falling off the walls. The repairs on the ceilings and walls were terrible. It felt like I was staying in a low end apartment. Not having a breakfast but instead a "bagged" breakfast was sub-par. We have frequented this hotel consistently for years but will be looking for other options in the future.

The staff are the greatest, they make my stay so easy,2nd time Ive stayed there. I'll go back in a minute

There were signs stating the hotel had bugs (not bed bugs) and that this was normal because they were surrounded by a forest. I've stayed at other hotels in Ft Mac this is not the case. There were bugs in my shower and even in my bed when i pulled back the covers. Also only one plug in worked so it was lamp or laptop. Will not stay again.

Spacious room, great bathtub!

Room was beautifully appointed with soaker tub. Staff especially gracious, especially Rain at the front desk. Will stay again!

Pick my son up 4-5 times a year and always stay overnight till my flight home. Always happy with the service, room and value for the money. Back in a few months :)

The fridge was sketchy - did not work at first, then was very noisy when it did work. I had to shut it off to get some sleep. Staff did send maintenance in. On my return to the room, I was surprised to see 2 fridges - the original one and another one on the floor beneath it. I still had to shut off the existing one to get some sleep. I have to wonder why they didn't take the noisy one away... I didn't return to the room until 11 pm, & they knew I was checking out in the morning. Made me feel like they were in the midst of making things right for the next guest, not for me.

Construction

First off I never got the room in booked. I asked for 2, queens only got one queen but since I was solo was not a big deal. We were never informed of the construction. There was construction right above my room until 11pm. I had to work early so this was less than ideal. I ended up calling the desk to tell them to stop but they didn’t stop until 11pm. I was not super impressed. I get you have to do construction but it should stop at a certain time and should be informed ahead of time.

Internet cannot be used, extremely slow. The heating did not work, although it was +4C outside. The room was not heated.

Property had renovations going and did not mention this . It was major renos right above the room i was supposed to be staying in . I explained that i worked nightshift from 6 pm to 6am and could not sleep during the renovations . They did not have another room available

Nice stuff, breakfast not good enough, changed room in second night due to too close to highway which means loud at night, fast cool and heat, comfort bed. They are doing renovations on top two floor means if you stay at floor 3, will be loud before 6pm during day time.

Awesome service but avoid underground parking

Room and service was amazing. Room was awesome. Wish we could turn down the heat….it was hot and locked on at 22C Don’t use the underground parking if you have a low vehicle. It’s a steep drop and not a low grade entrance. No warning and car did take some damage but was able to back out before more serious damage done. Advised them they should warn people and was told oh well there is a sign. Sign does not say steep decline or drop off, just says low grade.

Fort McMurray is Alberta’s Oil Patch. The Hotel is located near the river and MacDonald Island. Pretty good location downtown. The staff was very nice and my room was large and clean with a comfy bed. I’d stay here again. Breakfast was good.

Room fridge noise was so loud, couldn’t sleep well due to noise.

Nice stay

The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. There was a few issues with the room. The carpet was dirty in places as was the inside part of the window. The bathroom fan didn't work and the refrigerator kept cutting in noisily all night.

I have stayed here in many occasions and it’s always been very good. The receptionist and staff throughout are always very pleasant and helpful on any questions you may have.

Had major issues with the room temperature and furnace running non stop. Was extremely hot in room. Staff was accommodating trying to fix the problem. Lots of traffic noise too.

The hotel is in a good location, a little difficult to get to though because it is on a one way road. But it was clean and the staff was helpful.

We had a suite on the 5th floor. It was nice, clean. Had everything you would expect. Staff here are exceptional.

Parking was a breeze in the area, however turning out of the parking lot is challenging but that’s no fault of the hotel. It was very clean and got more than what I expected for the price I paid. The king suite is large and with a balcony it’s somewhere I’d love to stay for a long period rather than the 2 nights I needed. The continental breakfast was basic quality but lots of options hot and cold. I Will absolutely stay here again!

A pleasant option near downtown

The hotel is nicely placed near the river and highway and only 3-4 blocks from downtown. The rooms are ample and nicely setup for a longer stay in comfort.

We stayed at Franklin Suites for 5 days and 4 nights. No AC all throughout our stay. Wifi connection is really bad. Had to ask for our room to be cleaned. Housekeeping guy though is amazing and friendly. Most of the staff are equally friendly. Their location is very close to MacDonald Island Park but also close to the rugged downtown. I would rate our over all stay as just Meh.

One of the best hotels in Fort MacMurray

I was traveling for work and I brought my wife and daughter along. I was greatly surprised by this location, it was clean and professional. The breakfast was amazing! the room structure was really interesting how they seperated it, which worked for putting the crib on one side and my wife and I on the other. I would stay here again anytime!

Check in was easy, fast and met with friendly staff. Those suites are great a, clean, comfortable . Breakfast time is a little early (5 to 9) but good. Thank you - lovely place to stay.

My entire stay was disrupted by no AC. My room was literally 28C the entire time I was there. Not an exaggeration. Nothing was done about this other than giving a tiny fan. Also the internet still does not work well in my the rooms. Very slow or inaccessible.

My room was spacious, clean, & well priced. The only things to note are that, you have to climb 2 stairs to get up to the elevator—not ideal if you are on wheels. The only thing that made my stay disappointing is that it’s a hotel that caters to the oilfield community so breakfast is served 5-9. I got dressed to go downstairs for a coffee and got there before 9–they had closed the breakfast area early. I believe that if you offer a service—you should honour the hours listed. I would try this hotel once more, but in a town that has so many options—these are worth noting. Thank you for the stay!! I

Dirty lobby

Absolutely love the unground parking! Most people are scared of the incline, making parking down below a breeze! Always easy to find a great spot. Location is amazing. Room was ok, was awoken twice by the floor above (was on 3rd). No problem! I usually stay on the 4th floor and will do so from now on. Front staff very friendly and helpful, cleaning staff amazing! Keep it up. BY FAR my favourite hotel in the city. I'll be back very soon.

Clean and very friendly staff

I had stayed in this property when it was first put into use upon completion of its construction some 15 years ago.It has stayed very serviceable and shows maintenance has been properly costed.Staff were and are polite, professional,and most importantly friendly. As we are using this for business purposes we will continue to stay here and will recommend consultants,subcontractors and suppliers use this Hotel moving forwards.

Perfect hotel in Fort McMurray! Great beds wonderful staff.

The room was fantastic, could use some maintenance in the bathroom to improve overall condition. Better light blocking curtains as the building lighting and street light's were still very blight despite the shades being drawn. The breakfast selection was fantastic, and the staff were extremely accommodating and welcoming.

The room was perfect for my son and I, he had his own space with a TV and the kitchenette was perfect

We had a large spacious room with a beautiful view. The hot breakfast was a nice way to start the day.

Awesome extended stay!

Awesome hotel, stayed for a week and the service was amazing. Marie and the staff were all very nice. They made sure my 7 day stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Underground heated parking came in handy when it was -47 out. The rooms are spacious, quiet and clean. My room had two Tv's one facing the couch, coffee table, arm chair and one facing the bed. There is a small kitchen table to eat dinner, small mini fridge, microwave, dishes, cutlery, sink, for those long stay meals. The rooms have balconies so if you're a smoker you don't have to go all they say down stairs. Excellent assortment for the full complementary breakfast every morning as it changes so you have a choice. The rooms have weird internet plus Wi-Fi. You can tell they've been updating everything as my room had new carpet in it. There was a maintenance guy on site every day making sure everything is working. When I stay in Fort McMurray I'll be booking here again.

Staffs are not aware about the amenities. I went down to bring toilet tissues.

Free Underground Parking!

My stay was great! I especially loved being able to park in the warm underground lot since it is still winter. My only small concern was that my room was considerably warm. Although I put the AC on for 12 hours, I couldn’t get the room temp below 24 degrees Celsius.
