The hotel is simply amazing. With fantastic views. Very cozy, room with a lot of space and very clean. The high point of my stay was how well Tatiana, the way she received us. I would love to be greeted by a person like her at every hotel I went to. Very polite, helpful, empathetic, a person I would love to have on my team.
Five star accommodations at a reasonable price get the view of the fjord
Reception service was perfect & the receptionist arranged the best view room to me while the restaurant staff was not helpful and food (cod fish) was very very salty.
This is a great hotel to stop at while driving the ring road. Picture perfect location and a great history to the hotel.
Great hotel, fabulous restaurant, on the fjord with fantastic views. Neat museum.
Miserable stay!
Miserable! We were put in a handicap room (I wasn’t aware until after we noticed the bathroom) and were on the ground level. I would understand if we were checking in early or late, but that wasn’t the case. Being on the ground floor means constant noises from above and even under (restaurant). Chairs sliding on the hard floor, feet stomping from above, slamming of doors (our room door needed an extra hard push to close) and this was until 11pm! Lots of basic items were broken (hot water pot, handle for towel heater (disappointed I couldn’t use it), trash can step didn’t open lid, hair dryer works for 30 secs and then you wait for 2 mins for a reset, phone didn’t have dial tone to call reception which is across street, bed was hard like sleeping on floor, room door needed an extra hard push to close (stranger opened our door by mistake since it wasn’t shut. Luckily I was decent) and the bathroom..ugg! The shower had a curtain in the corner and water got all over the floor. I don’t understand but noticed out here the shower design is cramped and no doors. Also, trying to fill up water bottle in small sink is difficult!! Non smoking hotel but people smoke right outside your window! This is our 3rd hotel in Iceland. I am petite but wonder how a larger person would manage. Also, our 2nd Foss Hotel. Trying out another one tomorrow in a different area. Positive notes: Staff friendly, great location with pier for Aurora viewing, and restaurant food (although expensive) was delicious!
Great location, very helpful accommodating staff.
Cute hotel with good staff. Very nice and helpful
The building and room are gorgeous. Our room was spacious with lovely decor. We had a view of the mountains, the shower has wonderful water pressure. The ‘double’ bed was two twin beds that easily push apart, which is what we needed. The only complaint is the beds are not comfy. They are thin and stiff.
Beautiful location and a quick stop for ring road drivers. Rooms were very spacious and clean!
We loved our stay at the Fosshotels Eastfjords! The location is in a quaint town and our welcome at reception was warm and helpful. The museum pieces in the lobby (admission included for guests) were fun to look at. The lodging is well appointed in a spacious room that felt luxurious. We had a balcony room with a stunning view of the fjord. The only drawback was the mattress, it was very firm. Other than that, highly recommended!
Lovely town. Good hotel and staff. It’s a very old place repurposed as a hotel. A bit scary to think it was once a hospital. The museum and pictures add to the eerie experience. Our 10 year daughter was super scared. Rest of the stay was fine.
Nice stay on the water
Large, nicely appointed and refreshed room in historic building with wood floors, lots of angles and character. Our room and bathroom were quite large with a nice water view. Very quiet.
We've stayed twice at the Fosshotel Eastfjords. It's a great place to stay for its beauty and access to the rest of the area. The staff is always very friendly and we love the location.
This was my favorite place to stay. The hotel was beautiful, the little town was beautiful. Everyone was so nice. I felt like I was in a story book, everything was so romantic and gorgeous.
Beauyiful
If you are making the trek around Iceland this is a great place to stop and rest. A small and cute museum is part of the hotel which is a nice touch. If you plan on arriving late, you may struggle to find food, but as long as you plan ahead for staying in a small town, you will love the hotel and the Eastfjords are stunning in all weather types.
The room is spacious and clean
It's nice but expensive in a small town. Not much things to do around the area. It includes breakfast.
The hotel is a bit old especially the bathroom is small and a wet one. We did enjoy the balcony with the fjords view.
Gentleman at front desk reception was wonderful, the staff in the restaurant/bar for both dinner and breakfast were cold and unfriendly. Wonderful view of the fjord right on the water, however be aware that there is a fish factory and at times the smell is extremely strong. Loved our clean and comfortable room.
The museum in the lobby part of the buildung was so great! Be sure to see the downstairs section too. The rooms were adorable and we had the most lovely view of the fjord. All was great.
We loved our stay here!! I could not recommend it more.
everything very good
This hotel used to be a small-town hospital. The “free exhibit” showcased next to the check-in counter and underground tunnel (tbh I am too scared to go through that tunnel to the restaurant across the street) made me feel uneasy. When we checked in, no one were at the reception desk, but the pre-world world hospital setting with figures wearing 18th century clothes freaked me out. I couldn’t stay inside the reception area to wait for the staff. Anyway, I will never pick this hotel again.
Friendly staff, lovely view, but not much to do in the area.
Good location near the hot springs! Super clean with a nice breakfast!
Issue at the breakfast
I had an issue: I booked two days at the hotel, included breakfast. At the first day the breakfast was complete, with white bread, croissants and sweet pastries. At the second day only white bread was available because a big group of a travel agency finished with the all assortment of sweets breads. More five couples of guests stayed without this service. A note: we payed for the breakfast, it is not for free… this is a non organization method to supply all the guest in the same way.
Raphael was s gem! What a fantastic receptionist. The property was super clean and comfortable. I would add a few options to the menu, but in all, will recommend.
Geat hotel, great staff. Views were amazing. Close to all the attractions.
Very good experience
Okay for what it is. Room very small, short ceiling. Limited parking. View from restaurant is nice.
When booking a superior room make sure to request ocean side. We got one at the end with a view of the street. Terrible. The room was also quite noisy due to it being above the kitchen.
Staff was super friendly. My only complaint is dinner was a little expensive for the amount of food you get.
We checked in late and early out the next day, but it was quiet and clean. The breakfast was great. We would stay here again.
Very beautiful area!!
Beautiful property with stunning views of the lake.
Wonderful experience
What a gem! The location was amazing and the views, right on the fjord, were special. The staff was all very kind and helpful. The restaurant was delicious, great service, and views. Same spot for the morning breakfast.
The beds are hard as a rock.
Small but nice property. The room was modest with a beautiful view of water and mountains. We didn’t expect much from the restaurant but the food and service was really good along with the view
This hotel was beautiful! Our room had a perfect little balcony overlooking the fjord. The restaurant downstairs was also delicious!
Nice, spacious rooms with an amazing view. Easy to park. Dining at the restaurant was delicious!
Nice location on the fjord. Waking up in the morning looking over the water before even getting out of your bed is great. Restaurant in the hotel. Even a museum. Then the hotel is clean and the service excellent.
Location was amazing
Hotel was
top hotel located on water great experience
check in manager was a total jerk. his customer service skills were more adaptable to being a Shepard or a KGB agent.
Loved the location, the room, and the balcony overlooking the water. The staff and service were excellent and we really enjoyed our stay!
Nice hotel with a great view
The hotel is very clean and the staff is very friendly. However, it is located in a very small industrial town with very limited access to restaurants and groceries. There is no sites to visit nearby.
Superior room is worth it!
Absolutely wonderful room! We had a balcony over the water, watched the birds and a visiting seal. The front desk staff were great, especially Victoria. Breakfast was a little limited, but the dining room on the dock was great.
Beautiful property, great service
Very good place, but a bit pricy for what it is
The service was excellent. The front desk staff was quite hilarious and provided great services when our room door wasn't working. Our first room was on the ground floor and looked onto the parking lot. Although it was spacious and clean, I was a bit disappointed considering the price. As it happened, the lock of the room broke and couldn't lock, so the front desk quickly upgraded us to a more expensive room with a balcony and great view. The second room was a lot smaller, but the view was so good I really have no complaints. Overall the room was comfortable.. My only issue was with the Scandinavian style bathroom. Iceland doesn't seem to have the concept of partition in shower that kept the rest of the bathroom dry after showering. There was a shower curtain but the water still got on the floor everywhere the bathroom was practically overflowing with water on the floor the whole time. (You need a sandal) I assume it's a cultural difference type of thing, but it was still quite uncomfortable. The bathroom was also small and dingy for the price the hotel charges. The breakfast could be purchased separately and I am happy that I did. The dinning room facing the water and deck was really beautiful and calming. They offer laundry services for about $12 per load, which saved our lives on this longer trip. Not cheap but worth the price to save yourself some troubles.
Nice hotel, friendly staff, and good food at the restaurant. It is kind of in a strange industrial area with nothing to do outside of resting and eating at the hotel.
June 2021
Stayed 3 nights. Great location. Would recommend room facing fjord with balcony. Lots to see in the area. Dining room spacious and great view over the fjord. Breakfast had a late start and appeared a bit disorganised. Limited choice of breads. Museum in hotel was interesting. Overall would highly recommend.
Loved the clean, spacious room in the old museum building. Bathroom a bit small, especially the shower space. Hotel is good but the town is small with limited restaurant choices. Biggest negative is the fish smell permeating the town from the fish processing plant.
Perfect for the route east
Great service, scenic location and super friendly staff would love to stay here again
Friendly and comfortable
Usually, people say the view is amazing. Yes, it is. However, I must say that the best part of this hotel is the friendliness of the staff. The lady at the reception to our waiter at the restaurant, they were wonderful.
Arrived late in the evening, just before the restaurants closing time, and while the check in process was a bit strange, as there was no one at the Reception, we managed to check in and have dinner at the restaurant. The Receptionist was friendly and offered a beautiful room, with an aurora viewing window....we absolutely loved the room and the little details like the recycle bins, the special soap they use in the sink and shower, and that there is some modest closet space. Beds were very comfortable as were the soft pillows. Dinner at the restaurant was lite but delicious and Xzanet from Hungary was very helpful and provided great service. The view from this hotel and the dining room is unmatched, we were pleasantly surprised when we woke up and went for breakfast...absolutely beautiful! I would stay again!
Beautiful hotel with a mixture of old and modern. Best breakfast we had in our entire stay. Take some time to pass by the museum on your way out and listen to some of the documentary.
Fosshotel Eastfjords is the worst hotel I stayed at in Iceland. Our room was not available when we checked in so we were put in single beds. The receptionist even accidentally gave us the key to someone else’s room so belongings are not safe here. The room was extremely noisy and we could hear a tour group right outside of our window until extremely late at night. Floor in the room was very dirty. I strongly recommend staying somewhere else.
the only thing good about this hotel was the view. It was the first Fosshotel I stayed at while I was in Iceland. Tho I still have 10 nights in Iceland it won’t be in a Fosshotel.
Right on the water offering a great view. Fun interesting museum attached to lobby and hotel. Very pleasant breakfast/dining room with direct water views. Rooms are very nice with nice decor.
Simple but nice hotel. Spectacular views and friendly staff.
Staff issues?
Great big room. Check in clerk literally ignored me while she chit chatted with a friend (giggling quietly), then hung up and worked on her computer, until I finally politely asked "Am I supposed to ask for help?" Poor WiFi. Dirty dishes on outside porch tables in our view from restaurant, they sat for a long time, ignored by staff (I cleaned them up myself so I wouldn't have to look at them).
Very pleased in every way. Very good service at dinner sunday night at your restaurant, super! But, we found the breakfast disapointing. Nót good selection.
The hotel is in good location which is facing the sea mountains. Service is very good. The only thing that we are not that happy was the breakfast. It should serve in temp hot and more choices of stuffs.
A lovely eastern fjord town with links to a French past, and this hotel is part of that history. We loved our room facing the fjord and the late afternoon sun warming our waterside deck for afternoon drinks was a delight. Breakfast was nice too. A very comfortable and easy experience
We have a spacious room that faces the fjord, and it’s the most wonderful view to wake up to. There’s also a dock off the hotel restaurant that looks out to the fjord. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Hotel restaurant does not offer lunch during our stay. We ate at the only other restaurant in town. Couple of times we drove to another town for supper.
Very nice hotel. There's a tunnel to the restaurant on the other side of the road which made it very convenient when it was raining. The restaurant is situated on a beautiful fjord.
Wonderful location
Wonderful location, lovely staff, great food and comfy bed!
Fantastic boutique hotel. Great room with a deck looking out over the water. Excellent service, and enjoyable meal at the restaurant. Wish we would of stayed longer than one night. And the museum is small, but very well done and interesting.
Nice hotel in a very seclud little town
The hotel is very nice, clean and updated. The restaurant is also very good but pricey (like most of Iceland).
The receptionist is very nice and accommodating. We check in late so we can not see the view from the room yet.
The real surprise was that the hotel is on the site of a former French hospital for fishermen in the late 1800’s - early 1900’s and there is an excellent exhibition in the hotel.
Highly recommended! Wonderful view from the hotel room! Had a comfortable stay after a long drive!
Lovely Room...lovely village
Very nice room with a great view of the water and mountains, clean room, comfy bed...and the nicest check in person. We stayed another Foss the night before and had to change rooms 3 times. This one was perfect.
Great stop on ring road.
Lovely. Loved the museum and balcony on fjord. Dinner very good.
Little pricie but great area and facilities, adjoining restaurant was very good.
GREAT
AMAZING
Bad rooms good bar.
This hotel is disappointing in comparison to the photos. The rooms are miniscule - you can barely walk either side of the bed and our room while on the fjord side had no view as the windows were tiny and difficult to access. The room started off freezing cold on arrival (why don’t staff turn on radiators before guests arrive?) and them stiflingly hot during the night. The fridge in our room was broken and staff wouldn’t come to fix it. The TV says it has satellite channels but in reality there are only 2 or 3. The barman was excellent as was the chef.
Amazing stay
Thank you to this beautiful gem. Room size was huge and the setting stunning. Beautiful deck and interesting history to the hotel. Restaurant had excellent food. By far my favorite choice.
Beautiful boutique feel hotel by the waters
Loved everything about the hotel, quaint and perfectly located next to the waters if you are looking for a relaxing holiday!
Stay here!
Beautiful location, fantastic room, great food, and an interesting museum all in one. Fantastic!!!
Peaceful little retreat
Excellent little hotel on the water at eastfjords. A fantastic place to enjoy Iceland's remore and serene east side, in a little fishing village. The room is very charming, well decorated, with window seat facing the dock and fjords. It's a peaceful place, great for writers! I loved my stay.
Great hotel in quiet friendly town.
The staff at this hotel are exceptional. The restaurant is very good. Its a great stop if you find yourself in the east fiords.
Great place overall. Dinner overpriced even for Iceland. But breakfast is a great spread, best we had during our stay. Rooms and area is clean. Beauitful surroundings. Down side - pillows are AWFUL!! So flat and terrible to sleep on
We picked our stay at Fosshótel Eastfjords as our best hotel in Iceland. The hotel is in a very small community and a detour drive off of the ring road but the hotel and hotel restaurant were great. We had a room overlooking the fjord which offered the best photo opportunity also.
Wonderful experience
This was one of the best places we stayed on our trip - we stayed at 2 other Fosshotel locations that we were disappointed with but this one was excellent. The restaurant offered a lovely breakfast. The downside was the price of the dinner menu - very expensive for what we received. The museum was a wonderful bonus to learn more about this area of Iceland.
Scenic location right on the water in a fjord
Nice hotel with modern interiors, friendly and helpful staff, and a pretty good restaurant with views of the fjord. Our room had a view of the water.
Very pleasantly surprised by this hotel! Facilities were new, room was clean and comfortable, the staff was very nice and helpful and the restaurant was good too.
Beautiful cosy Hotel with historical background
Very nice Hotel with an interesting historical background. Nicely decorated with care for details, except our bathroom looked like one in a hospital. Nice restaurant with view to the Fjord. Very good food, prices rather moderate compared to other restaurants in Iceland (taking into account that there is no other restaurant around they could ask for whatever they wanted...). Also the breakfast buffet was quite nice. We can definitely recommend this Hotel if you are looking for a place to stay in the area.
Nice clean hotel.
Stayed only one night. Hotel is nice and well kept.
Fantastic
Fantastic! It's a small little town but beautiful location! The service was fantastic and the room was great. Love the Fosshotels!
Nice hotel in a small quiet town, with great view
The rooms are very clean and comfortable, with great river view and nearby snow mountain. Quiet scroll around town, not much facility in town though. Great for a relaxing stay after a long drive or long day.
Nice hotel, onsite museum was interesting, good breakfast, nice ocean view.
great stay
4 Separate buildings but convenient location together so not much of a walk between them. nice room, balcony view well worth it. only down side is WiFi and Internet signal was not great at our location, but that gives you a chance to put the phone down and soak in nature.
Location is stunning. The restaurant was good Rooms are nice but a little small. Enjoyed the exhibition attached.
Nice views but some issues....
The hotel was beautiful and modern with features like sensor lights in hallway (environmentally friendly). It lacks other things like wifi was poor and non existent (surprising flow a new looking hotel), tv reception could cut out every 10 minutes or so, breakfast was ok but the shrimp sandwich I had night before was awful, way too much sauce. Unfortunately, you are very isolated with only restaurant to eat at in area. Restaurant was nice indoors and you have nice view if mountains across and harbour beside. Parking can be a bit of an issue as you may have to park a little away from your room but nothing to far. In other words, if you are in let's say the right building (like I was), there are 12-15 rooms and space for 5 cars and 1 handicap space. I had to park closer to central building but across there beside reception which was less than 1 minute walk but if you consider people who can't walk as much or have heavy baggage, this may be an issue for them. I would give this a 3.5 stars mainly for wifi and tv being poor as well as the meal I had night before not being very good.

Room was large, very clean and staff accommodating our late arrival.
