Food was terrible
Very good Hotel
Very clean and safe hotel. Staff is very attentive.
The friendly and professional staff
Close to everything
Excellent for families!
I stayed at the Fenix hotel with my family. We have a great experience, the attention of the staff was excellent, the hotel was clean as well as our rooms. The breakfast was varied and the staff was attentive to stocking the food during it. Although the area is high traffic, the rooms we were assigned allowed us to rest without interruptions. I'll be back in the future!
Me gustó mucho la atención del personal. Siempre atentos.
There are not too many places to get food at walking distance.
The hotel itself was nice but our room was old looking and needs an update, especially the bathroom. The water ran extremely hot to extremely cold. We only stayed one night as this was not our only destination.
My fiancee came to pick me up at the hotel came to my room to wait for me to finish getting ready .and i was charge for an additional person in the room ,their explanation was that if she waited in the toom more than an hour even if she did not stay, i had to pay for her .when i first checked in i mentioned that my fiancee would be picking me up and they daid as long as she doesn't stay no problem. At check out they changed me for her.also metion we would have to sit in the lobby only for an hour .like in prison .no vents in rooms ,noise comes into rooms at all hours ,i was lucky if i got 3 hours sleep every night .also black mold in bathroom.
Very nice inside. Recently remodled and updated. Will be staying there again in the future.
Nice hotel close to historic center of Quito, close to the bus station and restaurants. Comfortable and nice place
Nice Hotel, Inexpensive Taxi Ride to Old Town
This was a quality hotel with a great and helpful staff. The room was clean and comfortable. They had coffee, tea, and water available at most times. The breakfast was very good. If you're sensitive to noise, you may want to request a room away from the street. I would definitely stay here again.
Much more comfortable when moved to a better room
My stay was satisfiying, room clean n staff was nice n welcoming
Everything was excellent only with the check out they can't found my payment they going to charge me double because they told that my reservation was made for expedia
Ok hotel for what it is with friendly staff , big and clean rooms.
Service was stellar!!!
The service is phenomenal!!!!! With that said, there is ZERO air conditioning available. The staff though brought me a huge fan immediately which was great. I got a bit of altitude sickness and they immediately brought me complimentary cocoa tea. The location is a short cab ride away from the Foch sector which is great for nightlife. A lot of bars and clubs to choose from. The area the hotel is in gets shady at night so I'd suggest cabbing it wherever you go.
For a hotel rated as 4 star it does not have aircondition. The restaurant does not have vegetarian options also.
Nice hotel to stay when the others were booked
I chose this hotel because the 5 stars hotel were all booked because of a soccer game in Quito. They have a new tower with nice rooms. Would go again with no hesitation
Business hotel
it was a pleasant stay.hotel is nice and clean
Documentation trip
My husband and I had to go to quito to get some documents in order. The hotel was around where we needed to go that's why we chose it. But I wouldn't stay there again. The room we were in had no air conditioning or heat. Quito has unpredictable weather. The 3 days we were there it was very hot. Our room had only one window facing a busy street from 5am-11pm there was nothing but smog. It was awful because of the pollution in quito. The room was clean and staff was friendly. It also had a nice complementary breakfast, but all this wasn't enough to stay there again.
Nice ANd Dashing Place To stay Inn..!!
I arrived On time THe hotel staff is very COoperative. THey are Very Dependent of Your Needs.. All time active..!!
A good hotel
The hotel service was excellent. The receptionist and other employees are extremely helpful and will attend to any questions/concerns that one may have. The beds were extremely hard which made sleeping difficult and one could hear the cars passing by during the night.
Nice Hotel
Tucked away on a busy street, the hotel feels like a hotel once you walk in the doors. The staff were attentive and very helpful, the rooms are spacious (although the beds could be more comfy...this was the only downfall in my opinion), and the breakfast was good. Recommended!
Downtown stay
I wanted to stay in a hotel in downtown Quito during my last night so that I could easily and quickly get home at a decent hour to get enough sleep before my flight the next morning. Although there are other hotels that are slightly more conveniently located (if the touristy downtown area is where you want to stay), the accommodations at the Barnard Hotel were beautiful and the service was exceptional! Highly recommended.
Bernard hotel review
Great stay, staff was super helpful.
Loud, noisy, dirty... a real disappointment
I'm afraid this was one of the most disappointing experiences I've ever had in a hotel. We had to change our room the second day because there were men working literally right outside our window, a fact that the front desk seemed not to know anything about. There were also a pair of dogs that barked constantly. Not the hotel's fault of course but still... horribly annoying. We also found out that there was going to be a wedding that night in the hotel... directly below us. We moved up a floor and over one room and were awoken at 2:30 in the morning (after being told that 2 am was the limit for noise) because the party had been extended to 3 am. As for the room itself, it was functional but had no character. The floor was filthy to the point where we had to designate a foot-cleaning towel, had to ask for more toilet paper, no body lotion in the room (though they do provide other amenities that were fine). Everyone at the hotel was very nice but we had to remind them two and three times to look up our requests for restaurant recommendations, other information, etc. Also the hotel is on a very loud main road and there is nothing to do in the immediate vicinity. You have to talk at least 10 minutes to get anywhere. Definitely not worth it, I'm afraid.
Great value hotel
We enjoy to stay in excellent hotel just next to the historic downtown of Quito. This is real "value-for-money". No any complaints.
Nice hotel in not so nice environment
Barnard Hotel is modern and functional, with ample rooms and comfortable beds, a varied and tasteful breakfast, and served by helpful personnel. However, it is located in a very busy avenue in front of the Army Hospital, so a rear room is recommended. There is one peculiar drawback: when a mariage party is held at ground floor (i.e. saturday night) the music and entertainer will be heard at the first floor rooms until 2:00 am.
Arrive Quito via Beach Destination
Hotel is located close to art markets and not noisyas many hotels in Quito are....I thought it eas good valur for money...breakfasy was good and parling and covered and secure...will definately stay again
very nice hotel
very friendly greeting from the front desk lady, excellent rooms with great views, very large rooms with excellent beds, big bathroom with lots of hot water, good wi fi
Ok for short visits.
Overall qualification for the hotel is ok. The problem is related with the noise of ambulances circulating all night . I was in room 201 and double glass on windows is not enough.
EC II
Great place......everything from the staff, food, location.
Comfortable and clean.
The hotel was clean and the staff in general were friendly. The location is good as is not far from the Mariscal area and as it is in front of the Military Hospital it is pretty safe.
Barnard Hotel Quito
A very nice , clean hotel with a very helpful staff. We really enjoyed our stay
peluche
Great Hotel and Great Staff 24 hours Lobby Desk service
A Hidden Gem
All Hotel staff are extremely service oriented and pleasant. This appears to be a constant in Ecuador not exclusive to this property. That being stated, is non the less appreciated and stands out as contributing to a very oleasant and relaxing experience here. Hihly recommend this Hotel
Comfortable location
The hotel was clean and in a decent location, the neighborhood wasn't great but it was one of the closest to downtown. I chose this hotel, in large part for the shuttle. A few days before my arrival I emailed the hotel to confirm the shuttle would pick me up, all 5 went unanswered, and no one picked me up. I ended up taking a taxi to the hotel ($8), which as it turns out is cheaper than their shuttle ($15). The staff was lacking: *at breakfast someone would walk around pouring coffee, until they would disappear. I found my coffee pourer eating in the kitchen. *when I asked about a bus to the city, I was sent on a wild goose chaise, turns out the bus stop was right around the corner. *when I asked about my 5 unanswered emails, I was told I must have been using the wrong address. I pointed out that I used the one one their website, they said someone must have typed it wrong. Upon my suggestion that they look into that, I was ignored.
overpriced Barnard
I thought the room was overpriced by half. Service ok, but nothing special. Mini bar poorly staffed. Some street noise.
Sooo recommended!!!
Excellent location and service room. The people are very kind and helpfull
Good Hotel
Very comfortable and affordable
Business v
Very pleasant clean good service pick up from the airport punctual Thant u staff.
noise and construction
Ok the good no ambulance noise. The BADmajor construction 20 ft from window from 4 AM to 10 PM. Call first and see if high rise is finished. Large lunch crowd every weekday 11 to 2;30 big contract with a major company.Staff is excellent bkfst wonderful...discount cab service to airport..comfy beds...bring earplugs.
Birthday Celebration
I was amazingly surprised of the cleaniness of the room and bathroom. We were very satisfied and will return.
Taxi Service
The worst thing about this hotel was te location and the bad service I experienced get a taxi for transport myself to anywhere including the airport and that's why I lost my flight when I checked out.
Staff is excellent but hotel needs renovation.
The hotel needs some renovation, the rooms on the upper floors are worse that the bottom floors. The rooms are clean but don't have air conditioner. Wheather in Quito is cool. The staff and service is excellent. The breakfast is good and the food in the restaurant is good and at very good price too.
Barnard isn´t what I expected for the money I paid
The hotel did not give me the room I reserved through Expedia. I reserved a suite with 4 beds, but they gave instead an old room with only 3 beds. The hotel is not a 4 stars hotel as they advertised. The staff was great because they were always willing to help, but the room was not comfortable at all. It is located on a busy street, so the smog from the cars coming through this busy street was always present. It was not what I expected for the money I paid.
Excelente experience
I have a pleasant stay at Barnard's Hotel. The people was extremely kind, and very polite. Always Tehe food at the restaurant was excelente and at a good price.
not a 3 1/2 star hotel at all
this hotel was very basic. our room had a window that led to a cement patio with gates around it, so it was dark. the room was clean, but no frills to say the least. it is situated on a very busy road and very difficult to walk anywhere near. the breakfast was not good. the staff was helpful, but on the whole i would not recommend this hotel.
Hotel Barnard, Quito
Good hotel with friendly staff and good service, close to park Ejido and Museo de Culture but a bit off the main street i Marisacal (Rio Amazonas) - about a 10 minute walk up the hill.
"Very friendly and helpful service"
We simply slept there because we had to get up at 3 a.m. for an early morning flight. The room was quiet and we slept well. The wakeup call was on time and so was the taxi the hotel called for us. Because we had to leave before breakfast, the hotel packed sandwiches, fruit and fruit juice drinks for us. In addition the desk clerk helped us use the hotel computer to get online and print out our boarding passes.
not four star at all !!
Location ok but no restaurants or stores close. Breakfast free and ok. In front of hospital and bus stop with graffiti. Room carpets dirty. Bed sheets dusty and bed bugs. Stuffy room no air conditioning or ventilation. Bathroom needs renovation. Room often smelly and not full deep cleaned by service. Not a four star hotel and overpriced for 100 usd a night. Try instead the hilton colon excellent
Clean good value
Arrived Quito late night. Hotel arranged pick up for us. Driver gave us short tour on way to hotel. Departed Quito next morning and took 2 hr walking tour in Old Town early morning. Hotel staff spoke English very knowledgeable Good location good value for overnight in Quito.
Great Value
We stayed at 2 different hotels while visiting Quito and we enjoyed Barnard Hotel the most. The staff was friendly, the room was clean, and they served a continental style breakfast. There was someone at the front desk that spoke Spanish and English. Thumbs up to this hotel.
Convenient but not very nice
The hotel looks kind of old and run down, the rooms aren't great and in my case the curtains didn't darken the room enough. I woke up because there was so much sun coming into the room. The elevator doesn't stop on each floor so you have to overshoot and then walk down the stairs. The breakfast buffet included on the rate was small and bland. TV offers a few channels, mostly local and basic cable, there's not even CNN, tough they have CNN en español. The hotel is on a busy an not too nice road. The employees were nice and friendly. The room service was tasty at a reasonable price. After 2 days I moved to a nicer hotel that was just a little more expensive.
Hotel Banard, Quito
It wasn´t good/bad. I took the room because of a deal, but it´s not worth the original price. Nice in general, but not the greatest. Very old!
Very Good Value
We booked two rooms for the price of just one room at several other area hotels, an extremely good value. Hotel included breakfast buffet & free use of business center. Front desk staff was very helpful. Restaurant was reasonably priced. The trade off is that the hotel is located on a very busy street, across from a hospital. The location can be noisey. There is nothing of significance in the surrounding neighborhood, but it is possible to walk to a shopping area several blocks away. Satellite cable package included few English channels (no CNN, ESPN, etc). Given the very reasonable price, we would stay here again.
Great place to stay in Quito
The hotel was clean and the staff was extremely helpful. Great place to stay in Quito for the money.
Muy buen hotel, cómodo y el desayuno está bien… la habitación es limpia y todo está impecable
si se puede recomendar para otras personas
Buen servicio.
Servicio bueno y el personal muy amable.
Its location is strategic, as it is about 10 minutes from the historic center of the city. It is excellent when there are events at the Rumiñahui Coliseum, as it is about 200 meters away. The service is excellent and the attention is very friendly.
Excelente atencion. Bien ubicada.
Gracias
Ok
No incluye desayuno
Fenix Hotel | Hotel in Quito | Travala.com
