An excellently run hotel which continues to maintain its high service levels.

A very comfortable bed in an otherwise slightly dated decor in the rooms. Breakfast buffet whilst a wide variety was offered, was lacking in quality and taste. For a supposedly 4-5 star hotel, it couldn't offer better quality of tea bags? Don't get me started on those rickety dining chairs and tables on both mornings at breakfast........

Dear Gurney Bay Hotel Had a great checkin but was not impressed with my checkout. Paid my bill on checkin. On checkout, was told bill was fully settled. Then later I get a notification from my bank that you have deducted a further RM 225.44 from my credit card. You did not have the courtesy to explain this or to apologise for any error you have made. Unlikely to stay with you again if this is how you treat customers.

The room is clean but look a bit old which the major renovation of this hotel is scheduled in 2025. In the meantime, already the best value if you are looking for a place to stay in Gurney drive area at a very reasonable price. Moreover, their buffet is amazing with a truly international line of food; western, chinese, indian,and halal, and also at an unbelieveable price (we added a buffet to our room for RM30/person). The only problem is the wifi is so slow and unstable. Forget about the tv in your room. LOL

The view from our room was absolutely beautiful. Room was clean and overall the hotel had a charm about it.Loved the Christmas decorations outside the hotel.

Liked friendly and helpful staff, daily housekeeping, great breakfast buffet, live lounge entertainment at night, comfortable room. Would've liked a balcony, stronger bidet spray, but that's no big deal.

Very good property - older than other hotels but staff are very good and efficient. Would suggest good for tourist trip but it is out of Georgetown. Great views over the sea. Do recommend this for couples, solo traveler and families

Clean and price is reasonable

The hotel didn't really have anything around it. Malls are around 10 minutes walk away. The staff were helpful enough to open the business room in the hotel, as the in-room WIFI is the worst I used in Malaysia. The gym and sauna area is good, but they need to fix the cold bath as they once had this

Short trip to Penang

This is our 2nd time staying in Evergreen. The room is dated, may need some refurbishing. Found 2 pcs of chicken feathers on floor in room, not sure if come fr feather duster during room cleaning. Bed is too hard but pillows are very good. Overall still ok for the price paid.

I’m writing this review on behalf of my two Australian friends who had a terribly experience in their previous hotel they were in . I booked this hotel for them . They enjoined their stay at Evergreen L very much as far as I know .

Feedback / suggestion

Everything seem to be good during those days of stayed. Breakfast choice is good. It would be close to perfect if there’s shuttle service to Komtar or Gurney plaza.

Very rude and arrogant staff. Especially the managerial staff manning the cafe on the 1st floor. I was treated as if I am transparent. I was standing at the reception for close to 10 minutes and the manager saw me. But he chose to ignore me an go about doing his own thing. Very rude and arrogant. The staff handling my check in also same thing. Rude, arrogant and smug. I really have nothing good to say about this hotel

Hotel is older and worn down. Room cleaning was subpar. Had to call late nearly every afternoon because my room wasn’t made up. And they never vacuumed my room nor do I see any of the staff with a vacuum. I wouldn’t rate this a four star hotel

Most impressive at Evergreen Laurel is the staff, very polite, friendly, helpful. Such a pleasant stay! The hotel is good location and we booked our room facing the sea, it’s such a beautiful view. Lastly, the hotel is clean, neat and well maintained. Definitely come back again.

Nice room/ close to ocean although not a beach- we had a city view room. Room was well equipped and quiet which was really important. Staff was great and provides endless supply of water to us and use of hotel umbrella when needed. Will definitively return

I did not like the ocean side - plenty of constructions going on and the view was not great.

I did not like the construction on the other side of the road. The scenary is not the same as before.

Internet connection

Our room internet had very bad connection. We need to go down to lobby to use the internet. We have called the receptionist 2 days in row, keep telling us they were restarting the wifi but still the same. Finally told us to change room as they couldn't do anything:(

Thanking everyone at the hotel for their kind hospitality and excellent service for our 6-day stay! The breakfast buffet was delicious and housekeeping was so attentive (we accidentally turned off the do-not-disturb sign at 5 pm) and came back to find our room clean and tidy! The only issue we had was that the bushes at the front of the entrance (if driving in for parking or pick-up) are not well-positioned or overgrown, so if you're driving, you may miss the entrance, especially at night. Just a trim needed. Will definitely come back again. Thanks to the hotel for taking such good care of us!

Room keeping was very well maintained. Stayed for 3 nights and everyday when I return to the room, it’s as though nothing has changed! Overall was great, staffs were friendly and helpful. Bathrooms very clean and I love how they had complementary apples :)) One pain point would be the noise coming from top floors. Could hear children making noise and hone ringing.

Centrally located hotel within 15 mins of 2 great shopping malls in Penang. Staff really friendly, housekeeping very good and the gym, pool and spa treatments great. Isaac booked me in for a massage with Sharon on my first evening. She was exceptionally professional, gave great treatments and looked after me so well they I ended up booking her for a massage every day of my trip. Breakfast was included in my room rate and I don’t normally take it up. A taxi driver(arranged by hotel) told me to check it out as if does an Amazon breakfast so I decided to look. It was absolutely fabulous! All in all, the staff really did advocate ‘service with a smile’ consistently.

This hotel is Ever Reliable. The staff are courteous and helpful. The room and en suite bathroom were comfortable and well-equipped. It's also nice to have a sea view. This was my 5th or 6th visit. Great value for the price paid.

the room was spacious and clean. the bed was a good size king and comfortable. the only disappointment was the ala carte western meal we ordered on the day of arrival at the cafe. the fish and chips and nasi goreng was bland .

Possibly one of the best affordable hotel that I stayed. Room beverages such as coke are complimentary and there is a bathtub

The staff was incredible. The hotel is a bit dated, but is currently undergoing renovation. Completely acceptable accommodations for the price.

I like its location and the staff at the front desk are very helpfull.The room and toilet considered clean. The only thing I hate most they never allow late checkout at least till 1.00 to 1.30pm is fine for us. I been to many other hotels they allow till 1.00 to 2.00pm late checkout, but I don't forsea any reason why they are so different from others. Maybe have to consider other hotel on my next trip!!.

Cleanliness and Comfortable.

Hotel room quite big and clean , TV consider old model . Location quite quiet but walking distance to eating place , restaurant and shopping mall. Staffs of facilities (gym/ spa / pool & tennis court ) are very friendly & helpful, but during my two days stay , both sauna & steam room are out of order. Overall Is good :)

This hotel has a great location. Easy walking distance to Gurney Drive food stalls and Pulau Tikus shops. Also possible to reach the Midlands and Gurney Plaza shopping centre on foot.

This is a fabulous hotel. Out of town a little, right on the water's edge, great eateries and shopping close by; not far from Georgetown; easy access to to scenic attractions; excellent standard, exceptional prices, all amenities including shuttle bus and transport; friendly staff. We did think the variety of food offered in restaurant did not vary much each night, the Seafood and Japanese nights were not up to advertisements, Noodle soup could have had more vegetables like previous. Staff need to know how to serve alcohol in Cafe Laurel - and only red wine available - no white. But on the whole very good value for money. We have stayed here 5 times before and would stay here again.

Location is not too bad but still need more walking to reach gurney drive hawker, paragon mall and gurney plaza.

Hotel live up to its promise as five star hotel within Georgetown area. We found the rooms spacious, clean and with all the amenities of a five star hotel. The location is just perfect . Go for the Oceanview rooms !
