Great stay for Vacation in Basel

This Hotel is Basel is a really good choice for people looking for an affordable and very nice hotel. The location for the hotel is also convenient for people using public transit also and made it very easy for me and wife to go places throughout the city which wa important to us. The cleanliness of the hotel was very nice along with customer service and amenities the hotel offers. I would recommend a stay here for anyone looking to stay in Basel!

Good property let down by a location that is a bit run down. Great that it had electric charging points at reasonable prices too although the parking itself was 25chf per night. Breakfast was good too with plenty of choice. Evening meals were pricey for our liking

Our stay was perfect. Location is very good to access the city centre by foot or they will supply a free travel permit for the duration of your visit on all public transport. When you come from the airport you don't need to buy a bus ticket to your hotel as your hotel reservation entitles you to free travel. Over all great experience with and in the hotel. Will stay again.

Excellent room, and a fabulous buffet breakfast, well worth paying for. Hotel is a leisurely half hour walk to the river and old town, but the are is safe to walk even after dark.

One hair, not mine, was on the bed. When I arrived at 9:45 pm, there is nobody at the front desk. I have to look for a staff to check me in. Then the staff was confused about my payment status. It took 15 minutes for her to sort out .

Me and my girlfriend had a wonderful stay here while visiting Basel for a wedding. The stay was made even better by the reception staff - especially Hussein Ali. Would definitely recommend

A cozy hotel outside of the main city portion of Basel yet within walking distance to the public transportation that is frequently served throughout the city The city tax paid to the hotel includes a Basel card that gives you unlimited access to public transportation as well as discounts on many museums. Reasonably sized room with basic amenities including a mini fridge and a safe. Shampoo and body soap combo with no hair conditioner. A timed sun lamp to keep the person warm after coming out from the shower, there is no bathtub. The exhaust fan is strong so the washroom doesn't steam up One big con would be the size of the blanket for the bed, it couldn't even cover the bed, and many times I woke up with a chill since my sleeping movement pushed the blankie away Blocks away from convenient stores, and restaurants as well but the hours of operation are quite limited so better check the time before heading out

The hotel is located in a good distance to the city center also has parking. Breakfast is at a high level only during our stay the restaurant was closed.

The staff named Hussein Ali was really helpful to assist us when we had some issue with our Covid Test requirement. Overall, the room was very clean, and modern looking. Has one of the best gym facility. Location is great with a bus stop around 100m away. Free city transport pass. Highly recommend this hotel!

Very friendly staff. Park in underground parking and the will validate your stub. You have to pull up close to the parking entrance door in order to trigger the automatic gate.

Just a 10 minute walk to the Rhine with the city centre on the other side of the river, bus & tram stops just outside the hotel & easy free access from the airport with the hotel reservation and they provide a Basel card on check in, some small bars and food outlets nearby but the main activity is in the centre. Good breakfast at a reasonable price compared to other eateries in Basel (expensive city). If in Basel again I would use this hotel.

The main reason for my score was because the bed and bedding wasn't very comfortable. Not the mattress, pillow, or comforter were very comfortable and had a strange set up. The staff and food was great and its location is fairly convenient for venues like the convention center and for shopping/restaurants/entertainment close to the Rhine River.

Pleasant stay

Pleasant stay. The staff were most helpfull on all occaisions and went out of thier way consistantly. The only draw back , was the traffic noise. Our room was on the street side of the hotel and at various times the noise was significant. I would come back , but request a room away from the street

Ideal hotel for a 3 night break

Very comfortable 3 night stay. All the staff were exceptional! A very decent selection at breakfast Although the room was very modern with good a/c it was on the smallish side and had very little storage. The shower room was very modern, exceptionally clean The hotel was in an ideal location for us as it was situated 5 mls from the airport and about 1ml from the city centre. We were able to access the centre of Basel and St Jakobshalle using the extremely efficient tram service (the stop was very close to the hotel) We would definitely return to this hotel.

Very Nice Hotel

We chose this hotel based on previous reviews and can say we were not misled. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We easily used the No 14 tram into town and back which was a short 7 stop trek. We would return to Dorint if in Basel once again.

As excellent as was the service. Locat in a residential community but short bus ride to iris old town. However some distance from We main railroad station. We chose the hotel because of its proximity to the Rhine (our river cruise port).

Everything was perfect. Recommend 100%. Very clean and spacious rooms. Walkable to old town and sites. Staff very nice snd helpful 👍

This is a property conveniently located in the heart of Basel, 10-15 minutes walk to the beautiful river bank. The amenities appeared to be well maintained and tastefully decorated. The hospitality of the hotel staff is excellent. The dishes in its attached restaurant are tasteful and affordable. Overall it was an excellent stay experience.

Very pleasant hotel. Kind and helpful staff. Up-graded to room with air conditioning as not standard. On a very frequent bus (free to use) route into the centre.

The location was excellent for the Messe. The rooms are basic but clean. The staffing levels seemed poor & we had to wait for drinks more than once while staff went to exception. There was a heatwave while we were staying & it was disappointing that we only had complimentary water on one night of a four night stay.

Nice hotel

Nice hotel and great value. I would have preferred it to be closer to the tourist/museum area but it was OK because it was about a 25 minute walk to the river and we wanted the exercise after flying for many hours. We would stay there again.

Quiet location. Nice beds. Staff were all very nice and friendly. The hotel is a short walk to the tram stops, both directions.

The “apartment” is actually 1 big room, so no privacy for parents travelling with children and not a separate bedroom as I had imagined.

WE JUST HAD A STOP ON THE WAY TO THE MOUNTAINS NEXT TIME WE WILL STAY LONGER

Quite and cleanness but a bit far from the town. However, the bus pass is free from the hotel.

We liked the convenience of transportaion from the hotel. The staff was very helpful We did not like the hard bed, but we failed to mention it early in the trip and we were told they could have put a topper on the mattress.

The room was too small, no adapter or extension leads for uk hair straighteners, the beds were twin beds and not double for me and my partner. Not enough pillows and quality of the bedding was really poor. They did not provide enough English tea bags or sugar, no milk and there was supposed to be complimentary drinking water in the room each day and there was not, only on the first day!

VIP Treatment

We have stayed at this hotel on many occasions when we have been in Basel as it is good value and quite central even if the immediate surroundings are not especially attractive. On this occasion check in was friendly, courteous and efficient and we were upgraded to a studio which was a major bonus. We didn't use any facilities other than the room. The only let-down was the in-room wi-fi which was unstable at the best of times and collapsed completely in the later part of the evening.

Staff were friendly enough, but one member of staff overcharged us for tourist tax. We think he pocketed the money for himself. Flat out robery Rooms stank of smoke because of others smoking in the rooms next to us, the vents reeked of Tobacco. Breakfast was a extortion for what you get.

Ideal hotel for Basel fasnacht

We were in Basel for the start of the fasnacht carnival. The hotel is very easy to get to from the airport, and the bus is free if you have confirmation of a hotel reservation. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk from the centre, or you can catch a tram. We chose this hotel because it was out of the centre so we’d be able to sleep during the carnival! We were upgraded so had a quieter room at the back of the hotel. The room was great - good bathroom and plenty of hangers for clothes. We didn’t eat at the hotel but we had a drink in the bar which was reasonably priced. We’ve stayed at the hotel before and would stay again. Public transport links are great.

Sparkling yet homey. The room was exceptionally clean, spacious, comfortable, quiet, and easy to move around in. I was also delighted by the friendly staff at the desk. When I discovered that I didn't have an electrical adapter to charge my phone, they happily loaned me one. Another big plus was the complimentary tourist card which meant I never had to pay for the bus and tram. It also enabled me to get half price off at the museum I visited. However, one suggestion to top off an otherwise perfect experience would be to include an iron in the room.

A nice surprise!

OK place and clean but I don't understand how this qualifies as a 4 star hotel. Decor car be likened to a less colourful IBIS. We arrived to a cold (tiny) room while I was sick with a fever in the middle of December, towels were dirty and there were zero options for food at 11pm, besides some really unhealthy snacks on a shelf in the lobby. As for the service, when we asked the concierge (who was actually a security guard) about food he said he knew nothing about the area because he was new and he wasnt sure about the breakfast menu, although he knew that he should inform us that it would cost 19chf on the spot but 25chf if we chose to order in the morning. The cleaning ladies barged in twice in the morning without knocking. When we brought this and the dirty towel up to the reception in the morning she was not very apologetic but did offer us some free Oreos. Lastly, the location of the hotel is not the best. You must take 5-7 stops on the tram to get to the center and then change tram and another bus for the airport. Would not book this hotel again. There is a 4* with comparable but cheaper rates in the station square called Victoria Hotel. I had stayed here a few days prior and it is much more professional, homey  and well-located.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Staffing was limited so responsibilities were shared across the front desk and the bar (which includes coffee, etc.). That translates into some long wait times but given the price of the accommodations, it is worthwhile. My only real disappointment was with housekeeping. The room was clean upon check in. On the second day of our stay, we were advised that the latest we could have our room cleaned was 1:30PM so we passed. On the third day, we left a "Please clean our room" sign on our door from 10:30AM and the room never got cleaned. When the room got cleaned on subsequent days, the toilet paper was not replenished nor were the toiletries (moisturizer and cotton swabs). Minimal bathroom amenities are provided in the room (no shower cap or conditioner). The hotel is located in a safe area and is easily accessible by public transport. The hotel bar served great food and drink as well as coffee/lattes throughout the day. Overall, really happy with our stay and would definitely recommend the hotel to others.
