Lovely spot for a night, unfortunately no food available and the bed cover looked like it needed a wash. However these small, host very welcoming and room lovely.
Beautifully furnished, old worldly and luxurious. Great location.
The property is amazing. Definitely a good deal considering the price paid for the room. The breakfast is amazing. Definitely better than staying in some anonymous hotel/motel in the area. Staff super friendly and available.
This place is fancy. Lovely deep bathtub, a chandelier in the bedroom and the bathroom. I felt a bit like Marie Antoinette lazing about Versailles! Big sumptuous bed. I slept like a baby.

Wir hatten eine Nacht gebucht und es war toll. Absolut zu empfehlen.
Stayed in the Formal Suite. Beautifully appointed and all the little extras were fabulous such as a complimentary glass of wine which was much appreciated after four days of walking the Queen Charlotte track. Loved the bath and the bed was lovely and comfortable.
Great stay, it was quiet and relaxing for a night get away.
Luxurious, romantic and a stunningly beautiful place to stay combined with warm and friendly service with a smile!
Such a lovely little hotel! Beautiful rooms and very kind staff.
Wonderful stay, lovely place and a stunning dinner, friendly caring staff
Overall this is a lovely hotel and restaurant. We stayed in the Sea Room which unfortunately I would not recommend. The room has no fan or aircon and it is quite stuffy. We opened the windows but the room is at street level so the pedestrians could see directly into our room. We closed the curtains for privacy but then the room had no fresh air as the curtains are heavy. Also, be warned that the bathroom only has a large tub. Its a lovely bath but you need to climb in and out to shower or bathe.
Amazing staff who always went the extra mile. Especially Elizabeth … she’s a legend 👍 Great location and lovely rooms.
Beautiful décor
Charming hotel. Welcome drink and petit fours were lovely. Very welcoming host, excellent and knowledgeable. Grateful for early bag drop off. It is an old house so there are some creaky floor boards above if you are ground floor but not too much of an issue. Beautiful bath tub and lavender toiletries. Perfect location. I would recommend. Picton is beautiful.
Good but would prefer more modern and back from road.
Very nice accommodation with special service and restaurant
I love the decor and style of the interior especially the bed and bath, no complaints
Great room, great location. The helpful, friendly, fabulous staff checking in and for a fantastic meal in the evening. Well worth stopping in Picton for!
This boutique hotel exceeded our expectations by far! They even had a cute desert platter for us in the room upon check in and brought us complimentary wine upon arrival (from the hotel restaurant) and croissants and lattes in the morning! Elizabeth made our stay very pleasurable and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed and got us a table at the restaurant even though we didn’t make a resi ahead of time and they were clearly very busy! The food at the hotel restaurant was amazing! Highly recommend if you’re looking for some luxury or a romantic getaway :)
Would stay again
The staff were nice and helpful. The Check-in process was casual and the room was beautiful. Convenient location.
Had a thoroughly enjoyable stay, great friendly helpful staff and owner. Will stay again.
Staff were extremely friendly and even had live music on the night which was amazing. but the best part was the bed , amazingly comfortable and super nice sheets
Overall, a positive experience.
Lovely old building. The Seaview Room was spacious had great décor and a great "antique" feeling. But the room had no air conditioning or fan and the window opened out on to a busy street (noisy), and there were no screens on the windows. The old fashioned tub with the shower handle was quaint but impractical. The staff was wonderful and helpful - shout out to Hailey who was spectacular. Ate at the on-site restaurant twice - both meals were excellent. Location was great, walking distance to everything in town and close to the ferry dock.
Excellent location! Friendly staff!
Escape to Picton is a small (2 rooms upstairs with a shared patio and one room downstairs) boutique hotel right next to the waters. The location is very convenient - you can walk to the dock in 5 mins where a lot of tours take off in the morning. We stayed in the Modern room which was spacious and clean but one big negative was having no a/c. You can open the windows and turn on the fan but it brings in bugs and and we were quite uncomfortable for a couple hours before the room finally cooled down. The staff is very friendly and they tried their best to make us feel welcomed. Definitely would recommend this hotel as long as it’s not in the middle of Summer!
Enjoyed the hotel very much. Great experience
Staff was very attentive to our needs and requests. Meals were above average.
What a gem - I can't wait to go back!
This place is fantastic! There are only three rooms, each with a different feel, and all charming. The staff were very friendly and offered great suggestions for my time in Picton. Located just steps away from the waterfront and around the corner from the shops. The Escape to Picton Restaurant attached to the hotel was recommended highly by a friend... it did not disappoint. The atmosphere is elegant without being stuffy and everything I tried was DELICIOUS! I would highly recommend this establishment for anyone looking for a little more comfort, but especially for couples looking for a stay to remember.
Julianna and her staff are very attentive.
Gorgeous renovated old bank building. Excellent proximity to marina and town centre. Superbly comfortable Formal suite and extras of petit fours and muffins were a bonus.
Great hotel! Great restaurant! Great Staff!
One off hotel
A Hotel full of surprises. Our room was exceptionally, and perhaps extravagantly decorated. Our greeting was exceptional with a large glass of sayvignon blanc offered on arrival plus an elegant presentation of a collection of dainty treats. At dinner in the evening however the hotel let itself down by not being able to manage the large number of dinner guests who came in 'off the street'. We booked dinner for 7 o'clock and did not receive our order on the table until 8.15. All the other guests in our section of the outer eating area were similarly treated. Unfortunately the staff didn't have a clue how to manage the problem. There were no explanations or apologies. Or offers of free drinks by way of compensation. The only comment I heard was 'you've waited so long for your meal you'll enjoy it even more! When it arrived the food was excellent.....but was it worth the wait? I'm not sure. What a pity the hotel let itself down in this way.
Great potential.
Lovely guesthouse in the middle of Picton. The rooms were really nice and the staff friendly. At times it felt like you were listening to a life story of the owner and her struggles. She was nice but not all guests want to be told everything about the staff's lives. Breakfast was delicious. If I paid full price for this hotel I would have been disappointed as small details were missing such as shampoo and conditioner being used in old bottles etc.
Trying hard but too economic on shampoo/clean towe
Excellent staff member but greeted by vacuuming and untidiness in entrance. Too expensive for overall standard. Expected more compared to other hotels and experiences in South island
Loved Escape to Picton!
Escape to Picton was a treat! My husband and I were on our honeymoon and had stayed in nice hotels our entire trip and this was the best room by far. We stayed in the "Formal" suite and it was huge and beautifully decorated. The location was central which was perfect since we didn't have a car. We ate at the restaurant and received wonderful service and food. The owner conversed with us at length during our dinner and breakfast the next morning and we were taken very good care of, you could tell the entire staff cared about their work. I'm not a big bread person and the muffin we had for breakfast was the best I've ever tasted! I highly recommend Escape to Picton!

Formal Suite and Fish & Chips
The formal suite is beautiful, spacious and quiet. The bed was large and super comfortable. Room was so nice we simply picked fresh Picton fish & chips up from 2 doors down and enjoyed in our room with a bottle of 2003 Margaux - heaven

This hotel is beautiful, but VERY noisy. The standard of our room was outstanding and beautifully decked out. The hotel is on a main street directly across from the marina, very convenient for restaurants & shops. There is no fridge in the room. Also the Seaview room downstairs was extremely noisy. You get noise from upstairs occupants (wooden floors), the restaurant which is on other side of wall, and the reception area. Pity such poor noise insulation in such a lovely hotel.
