Overall good experience

We really enjoyed our stay at Erten Konak! It’s in a great, walkable neighborhood, nearby all the Sultanahmet attractions. The cleaning and front desk staff were excellent and made for a very enjoyable stay. We especially appreciate the advice and recommendations of Mart. We hope to come visit this beautiful city again.

The location and front desk staff might be the only good part of this stay. We were overall pretty displeased with this hotel and would not recommend anyone staying here given there are many options in the area. We were placed on the highest floor of the hotel, the 4th. The staircase is very narrow with no elevator access. There is a smoking area/inner patio right in the middle of the building past, which allows for smoke to rise into the entire stairwell, permeating everything. The water pressure is terrible with a dangerous design of stepping in to an elevated surface. There was no hot water, it was barely tepid the entire week we were there. There is no placard to place on the door to state do not disturb and not for housekeeping to come in. Two days in a row, staff rifled through our belongings/luggage/closet while we were out all day; yet, housekeeping did not clean except for take out the trash. There were no blankets provided, so we had to ask for one. The bathroom had men's dirty underwear and used towels when we checked in the first day, including used shampoo and soap opened. There was hair in the sink basin and had a consistent dripping water that can be heard in the bedroom given the small space overall. There is absolutely no sound proofing throughout the hotel. The WiFi had gone out two separate times for multiple hours at a time during the week. The staff were nice overall though, especially the gentleman manning the front desk at night.

A cozy hotel with convenient location in old town

A cozy and clean hotel. The staff are super friendly. They allowed us to leave our luggages there when we arrived early and after our stay. The room was cleaned everyday with changing towels. The bathroom is a bit crowded- we understand it’s like historical building you can only do so much. In general a great experience and would highly recommend! Btw, there’s a nice grocery store close by and their persimmons are the best we ever had! And unbelievable affordable!

Quirky lovely hotel, comfortable beds, nice staff, average breakfast

We stayed 2 nights in an economy room Althought this hotel is in the historic area of istanbul and there's a lot of action on the streets, inside is quiet and peaceful so you get a break from a long day of touring. The staff went above and beyond to help us in our tour planning and to accommodate us. It would have been nice to have an accent light in the room because the ceiling one is quite powerful

Property is in such a conjusted area that the driver could not get by the Hotel. We had to drag our bags up the uneven road. Hotel didn’t even have elevator. Spiral stairs and was so difficult to get our bags to our room.

Just not like the photo, very disappointing.

Claims to be a Boutique Hotel with 16 rooms on 4 levels, (no lift!). Some Deluxe rooms look beautiful from photos, but we booked Special Room, a standard double room, which also looked stylish and large, on the photos. The ground floor room given to us was tiny, dilapidated, and nothing like the photos! No space around the bed, for an armchair, as pictured. Wall Paint was dirty, and scratched with lumps peeling off. Looks like it has had no maintenance in 20 years. Sheets were good, but pillows too hard and doona was too thick for summer. Shower rose kept slipping down, water stayed lukewarm. I’m glad we only booked one night, this was very disappointing! It’s not too hard to paint a room.

Very small rooms and old property but the location is fantastic, good for one night stay.

Well located hotel close to the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque. Helpful 24-7 front desk. Located close to good restaurants. Cute decor. Good air conditioning.

Just for sleeping is okay.

It was pretty property, quite old fashioned and fits in with the vibes of the area. There was an unpleasant strong smell from the bathroom but found that in many places in Istanbul so that wasn’t too great - perhaps to do with plumbing in Istanbul in general?. The view out the window was pretty nice though. It’s a decent hotel, mostly clean. Was really there to sleep and explore the city, decent price. Expect what you pay for. Staff were polite enough and eager to help.

Stay in Erten Konak Istanbul, Turkiye

It was just an OK trip. Since we had luggage the room we reserved was not given to us. We had reserved a room with sea view in the fourth floor, but we were asked to climb a very very narrow stairs for 5 flights, which was not possible. So we had to settle for a smaller room in the first floor. Being an inferior room we should be getting a partial refund at least. Also the room which we reserved for $70+ from US, was listed for $32 on hotels.com website itself, when we reached there. Still we were charged in full. The pictures shown on their website is old. The furnitures were very very old. The bathroom had good and fine fittings. Air conditioner was fine and good. Breakfast was good enough though very same repeated over and over again. No drinking water was provided. The tour contacts from the hotel desk was good. And they arranged good taxi service for good price.

I would go back and stay at this hotel. Very close to major attractions and the waterfront. Spoilt for choice when it comes to local restaurants.

Total Disappointment

Staff didn't speak much english, so a lot of misunderstandings. Room was not cleaned everyday. We took garbage out twice. Told them my bathroom lamp was broken and they never fixed it. They arranged for an english speaking Aqva tour, and the tour guide didn't speak one word of english. They took us in a raggedy van that was dirty and had the side door broken. Driver didn't give us any information. I felt robbed. On top of it, they dropped us off very far from the hotel and one of us had problems walking. I wouldn't recommend this tour to anyone. I feel we deserve to be reimbursed.

The staff was superb! They were kind, friendly, and very accomodating. They made our stay at this hotel very pleasant.

The property is ideally located for Istanbul’s sights. All the Turkish will say walking is impossible but it’s all within 300 meters to 1.5 miles. The property is very old and needs updating with decor and refreshing of painting and decorating. House keeping is terrible as the beds had hairs the toilet had hairs. Floor was not mopped and my used towels were just folded back and reused. The hotel cuts corners everywhere to maximise profits but there is very little to no consideration of tourist stay. Please do not travel to this hotel. You will be highly disappointed. It’s no more then a 2 star hotel. What a disappointment!

This hotel was so cute. It has a lot of personality. It’s walking distance from Aya Sofia, the metro station and the Grand Bazaar. The best thing about it was the staff. They were so nice and became friends. They also helped me get great deals on all the little tours and trips I went on. I would definitely go again and recommend this hotel to all my friends.

We booked a room for 13 nights and we were excited to stay in a clean and comfortable room. Unfortunately, when we reached first we saw many flies starting from the entrance. Our room was very small and smelly and not as it was shown on the picture. There were red stains on the walls and most of the items like the lamp, furniture and walls were old and broken. Also, there were small mosquitos in the room as well as some very small dead mosquitos on the bed sheet. The restroom was very small and there was no room between the toilet and the sink so you could not use the toilet properly. The air conditioner was old and placed on top of the bed so when you turned the AC off the room was very hot and smelly and you couldn't sleep at all, but when you turned the AC on the room was becoming unbearably cold. We couldn't sleep the whole night because I had the air conditioner remote in my hand and changing the degree every couple of minutes so as not to feel so cold as well as not to have the smell in the room. Still, I got sick the next day 😞 which made us leave the hotel after only one night's stay and booked another hotel. It's been 4 days since then but still, I cannot speak properly I am taking antibiotics and I still haven't recovered so my holiday is ruined. We checked-in on the 19th of June and when we complained about our room many times the receptionist told us that we are fully booked so we cannot help you. You should wait for our manager he might help the next day.

Poor Service

It was horrible experience. No lift and my room was in 4th floor. Had to carry all my luggage myself. The ground staff was not helpful. They were chatting and I asked them if they could give me a hand as I had more than 4 luggages. They failed to help and were continuing their chat. If you have no options and looking for cheap stay, then proceed. The bed was hard and horrible too.

The room was ok the view to the sea was excellent the worst part was the bathroom with a leak in the zink the shower couldn't get the right temperature with water, the toilet had a leak too and they didn't have a good cleaning service. The good part of the hotel has a very good location very close to the mosques.

Do not book this hotel!!

We booked for 4 nights but we only stayed 1 night because there was no hot water, AC was not working, hair dryer and fridge was not available when the online amenities had it listed. The room also had an odd smell and the all inclusive breakfast was not good at all. Hotels.com should remove this place from their listing. Horrible experience.

We stay with my kids for a week there . Location is beautiful. Very friendly service and every day cleaning room . Even breakfast included:) . Recommend

You have what you paid for:) but over all it was amazing friendly service, clean rooms, cozy atmosphere, great location, even breakfast was included and they are try to make something every day different for us ;))) . I been there with my kids and friends- we are all love it!!! Definitely recommended!;)!!!

This hotel is like museum. Different collection of old clothing, hats, paintings. Makes you feel very cozy. Nice quiet area around. Totally worth experience to stay there.

the hotel was good we had a good stay, of cours with corona you cant get the best service, people were friendly and the place was clean, room was very nice, the only problem is no elevator and if you have suitcase, then good luck taking it to your room

Everything was bad. Room which i booked and which was in pictures was not same. Room was very small, no phone in room. If you want to speak to staff you need to go to reception. No water or tea facility in room. Bath room was very smelly complained but nothing happened Booked for 7 nights and couldn’t stayed more then few hours and they have deducted full money.

Great location near many historic sites. Staff very friendly, with a very nice breakfast and rooms cleaned thoroughly each day. Would certainly recommend and would stay there again.

Very unusual setting

This is central to all amenities but feels like your in a small village not a major city. The decor was years of the owners personal collection of vintage clothing, hats, bags etc. Clean, comfortable and exceptional good value for your money. Highly recommend.

Great little hotel, block or so from Divine Wisdom the sea two blocks the other direction. Eclectic furnished. Very hard to find though.winding back streets of Sultanaham. On site if the heat palace one of whose ruined walls was outside my window. You sit in your room and dream of Emperors in gold on soaring thrones surrounded by signing mechanical birds and roaring lions.

The hotel was within walking distance to the places of interest, markets and restaurants. The front of house staff were very friendly and helpful. The young guy gave us some information on the hotel and surrounding area. We had a great time. Thank you

We liked the proximity to attractions and the tram station. Did not like that in both rooms the overhead shower could only be used by holding it with one hand, both bathrooms needs the grouting to be given a thorough scrub and the shower encloseure doors were not closing properly. Curtains on the window frames were filthy and not changed at any time during my stay - they were yellowed with age and could not open the windows for fresh air seeing as the ac was not working. No restaurant on site and definitely no room service despite the advert promising otherwise. No kettle in the rooms only available in common areas. Too little space in the room, stairs were spiral and very narrow in depth. Wardrobes & shelves were quite shabby, drawers were unlined. Noise from levels above vibrated sometimes sounded like a heard of cattle were trampling upstairs. After checkin i did not feel welcomed by the reception team the interaction was minimal whenever we had to speak to them it was almost as if it was too much effort yet when it came to French, German and Russian guests the staff suddenly became alive and enthusiastic with communication. First time we have stayed in a "hotel" and whenever we depart to explore the city we had to hand over our room keys and not all guests did this, but we were told we have to do this. Area dedicated to smoking is next to the communal breakfast area and hotel smell smokey. We stayed only because we had already paid in full and it was non refundable

the staff was amazing especially my good brother oumid whos customer service was more than exceptional, looked after me the whole time i was there. the only thing i did not like was the creaky stairs while walking up and down lol.

We was put in a box room therr was damp all over the window and the window above our bed had no curtains so you had all the light come un in the morning the heating was not working so had to really freeze to sleep that night after complaining for a day they moved us

I liked the warm welcoming and guidance to attractions.. the breakfast was perfect and the communication was easy but the things I didn’t like is when I made it I was given a different room and when I told the manager he said I already went home and I had to stay the night in a standard economic room yet I paid extra for deluxe, the transportation fair rates were in euro yet I thought it was TL because nobody made it clear that it’ll be in euro as well as for the reservations I made through the hotel, first reservation we did was nice but didn’t fit my expectations.. we took the bus after walking for few minutes then we were dropped to our location and again started walking the whole day till we started having blisters.. long story short we could have did it ourselves for way cheaper and gained more privacy but instead we were getting ripped off left and right every day .. I wouldn’t suggest this hotel to anyone not even their recommendations because it was a disaster.

If want a slick Western chain hotel with all amenities this may not be for you. However, if you want a converted 150 yr old Ottoman house into a delightful small hotel with a Turkish feel you will not be disappointed. Unusual Turkish displays adorn public areas with hats, costumes, & sewing machines which add to authentic Middle East feeling. In view of the domestic conversion there are no lifts but steep narrow staircases. For those with walking impairments this may be a problem unless you book a ground floor room which we did. In view of domestic conversion, bedroom and bathroom on ground level are very small but perfectly adequate with TV and one armchair. Bedrooms on other floors are somewhat larger. For many breakfasts may be adequate with cold salad buffet, but cooked fare was very limited. Staff were excellent even allowing me use of their computer to printout some local maps. General area was interesting as it is part of old Istanbul with narrow quaint streets.You will be awakened to the early morning prayers of Blue Mosque a short distance away. Main attractions are all in walking distance which is a definite plus. You feel safe in area but some may be concerned about regularly being approached to enter their restaurants which can become tiresome. To conclude, no second thoughts about this hotel or staff providing you place Turkish authenticity, staff friendliness, and charm higher than a modern western style slick impersonal establishment with full amenities.

The property was in the heart of the tourist area which was excellent and selection of eating places nearby. also small shops . Staff member Umit was the best member of staff and offered help with any queries or concerns. He also had a very pleasing personality. Rooms were cleaned daily . Negative.: Since property had no lift and stairways were very narrow and steep with no hand rails it is not suitable for anyone who may have difficulty climbing stairs. We are both over seventy years old and considered to be very fit for our age but climbing the stairs on a daily basis to the fourth floor two or three times a day was very difficult for us. Surrounding areas are very hilly with numerous steps to access the touristic sites. Property is very old and interesting but some areas could benefit if it were painted. Very difficult to rate this property as some areas were so interesting with various antiquities throughout .

This is a charming, traditional Turkish hotel with friendly, helpful staff and is close to all the main attractions. It is clean and tidy and very well decorated and maintained. It is ideal for couples or lone travellers and is great value for money.

Great historic hotel minutes away from all the sights. We loved the staff - so kind and caring - we felt right at home and comfortable- excellent breakfast. Loved the rooms in their historic ottoman decor and atmosphere - felt like were went back in time to a place of luxury. Bathroom is small but to be expected in a room adapted around the historic space. Loved staying here, and excellent staff!!

Put a request for two single beds, clained they had not got the message despite showing them on my phone the specific request. Me and my friend were left no choice in sharing a bed. Call to prayer woke us up at 5am every morning, not impressed seeing as we had long days ahead of us looking around the city.

Staff, especially Umit was friendly and went beyond providing us with necessary information on what to see in Istambul in the little time we were there. Hotel itself was antiquey and old looking, but I'm not picky especially for the price I got the hotel for. Room was average sized, bathroom was clean and shiwer was great. If I had one conplaint it would be the bed, but this is auper biased as I am 6'5 and could barely fit on the bed. This wouldn't be a problem if the bed didn't have those poles at the end of it preventing me from stretching my lega beyond the bed. Outside of that, breakfast is ok with your normal serving of eggs, variois veggies and fruit, as well as tea and coffee. Once again, nothing special but great for what you pay for. Location is amazing as it is walking dostance from all the major mosques and transportation to other parts of the city.

Location and service couldn't be better. About comfort and condition could be improved, we felt the room was a bit little to be comfortable and some things were broken, like shower items and TV remote.

Amazing decor and staging all the way through.Outstanding breakfast and breakfast room. Daily cleaning. Very spacious rooms with unique furniture, true royal luxury. Never seen something similar for this price. And best of all, only couple of hundreds meters from Blue Mosque.

Nice place on a quiet side street. Just a minute or two walk to restaurants and shops. Clean rooms and the staff were so nice! Only negative thing is it was difficult for taxis and Ubers to find. Got lost several times en route and driver's had to ask for directions, which still didn't seem to help. I even grabbed a business card with the exact address but it didn't seem to help. I would stay again!

Some of the rooms are really small, make sure u ask for a bigger room. Also no elevator, the rooms on the 4th floor have view to the water and they are larger, but it’s a bit of hike specially with lodges. They were a bit light on staff, in checking in or out they were not able to help with the lodges. They rooms are fairly clean, the sheets don’t get replaced everyday unless you ask for it. Breakfast is decent, mostly cold food though. It’s a cute cosy hotel, the back yard is nice too. Just remember everything in Istanbul is up for bargain so don’t be shy to challenge them.

Beautiful old building full if amazing antiques my room was a bit on the small sude but didn't matter as only used it to sleep and shower breakfast was varied and plentiful the staff were very helpful and friendly the location is excellent within walking distance of the blue mosque topiki palace etc would definitely recommend

This unique wooden house is beautiful and with special touches and decorated in an antique style. Great breakfast spread with turkish food bit also something for international traveller. The staff is attentive..very helpful and knowledgeable guides for guests. Clean rooms with nice views. Its hidden away but close..walking distance from all main attractions. A wonderful stay all in all..thanksx

Heritage hotel. Like go back to ancient time. Breakfast was great and staff are friendly. Walkable distance from hotel to many tourist attraction. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

My room was not available. I put in a room in Hotel Estambul across the street. No the same standard.

The hotel is a few minutes walk to many places of historic significance. The staff were very accommodating booking our tours and transfers. We liked the decor of the hotel and the garden was great for afternoon tea.

The decoration was fun but it was let down by a lack of care. For example there was black mold on the bathroom tiles and a stain on the bed base. Also the bed base was too small so the mattress was over hanging. There was a piece of wood flapping / hanging off the inside of the wardrobe.

Stray dogs around hotel, terrible breakfast; I even showed it to reception in-charge and asked if he could eat it, floor and room very dusty, the list is long and I checked out losing 2 nights stay.

The hotel it self is full of antiques to explores, beautiful calligraphy and amazing colours.. You can feel the beautiful Turkish culture within every single corner.. There is an outdoor area which makes you feel very relaxed, the furniture is so beautiful and reflects the setting of a traditional Turkish home. My room was on the ground floor but I climbed upstairs to find even more beautiful things( hats, lace dresses, nicknacks, old photos, beautiful rugs, and more calligraphy) I loved every single corner of the hotel everything was very welcoming. The office is serviced 24/7, the staff were very helpful and friendly and they always go out and about to provide you with the best service. The breakfast was traditional Turkish which consists of cold and hot beverages and a variety of cheese, vegetables, salads, dips, cereals, olives and meat. They also offer afternoon and evening hot and cold beverages. The hotel is a short walking distance to the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia or else you can take the tram to reach other attractions. I loved my stay and would definitely recommend and come again. They have given me a free present upon checkout which was very lovely.

Excellent value boutique hotel in ideal location

Although the external appearance was not very attractive, this small boutique hotel was excellent in location, comfort and price.The interior is also well decorated in the traditional style. Tourists attractions such as Sofie and Blue Mosques and Topkapi Palace are within easy walking distance. Restaurants abound in the vicinity together with a small bazaar.The only snag for the less fit is the absence of a lift for those on the higher floors.

Location was excellent near the main square, Blue Mosque and Hagita Sophia. Area around hotel was a little run down but hotel was lovely. Room was very cold unfortunately.

This place is nice, comfortable in a quite street staff are freindly, decent open buffet breakfast. Walking distance from the T1 I recommend it for singles and couples visiting Sultanahmet

If I could give this hotel, 10 stars, I absolutely would! I stayed here last year for a week and just got back from a 2-wk stay this year, because Istanbul is a beautiful city and this hotel a BEAUTIFUL hotel to match! The hotel's decor is incredible, it's like you're staying a mansion home from the late 1800's/early 1900's & the staff were so very generous with their time and helpfulness. Will absolutely return here and 100% recommend others stay here when in Istanbul!

my stay was not so good. the hotel is a walkable distance from the Sofia, however, it was really old, the wifi was really slow, the view was not so great, as there was a dump before the actual view. the special class room was on the fourth floor, and you had to take the stairs which was not so great. the quality of the room and hotel itself not exactly as advertised, and I would not recommend. when I complained about this, the staff were not of much help as they referred me back to hotel.com to resolve the issue.

The hotel is very clean, the syaff are very friendly and helpful and they speak English. The hotel is near a tram station and a shopping street and tourist stea.
