It's alright.

My stay at El Misti was superb!! I stayed in a private room during 7-13 November. It was my first time in Rio, and this was the perfect place to meet people!! They organise lots of events, and having easy access to the beach with a ticket for a free chair is an addes bonus! I can definitely recommend El Misti to others, and will likely stay here (or at least visit the amazing bar during happy hour!!) when I return, muito obrigado El Misti!! Tom

Pros: Amazing staff at this property! Very friendly and always up for some fun! Also they all speak some level of English which was nice. It’s more of a party hostel than a chill and work hostel. Also they have a bar and restaurant attached to the property which is convenient. The area is awesome. Ipanema seems to attract young and friendly folks from all over. Cons: the shower had zero water pressure, the restaurant isn’t always open and some of the other guests don’t respect specific quiet time which they have posted outside the rooms. All in all I would DEFINITELY come back for a party or two.

Great hotel

This is a great location in Ipanema,i will return as soon as I can!

Good location, clean with reasonable price.

Overall, stay was good. The hostel is easy to find, a few minutes away from Ipanema beach. It is near to a lot of shops, restaurants and a market. There were cleaning ladies almost everyday yo clean the room. I liked the big drawers under the bed that can actually fit a check-in size luggage of 23kg, and you can lock it. The only downside is that the all-female room is next to the street so expect noise from vehicles and people who party all night. Also, there is no switch for the AC and you have to call reception to turn it on which is annoying because it gets really hot and humid in the middle of the night.

not what we understood when we booked

This listing is misleading because it said private bathroom. There was nothing about the listing that said it was one set of bunk beds in a room of lots of bunk beds. Please know that you may book thinking you have your own private room and bathroom, even though it says "private bathroom," but really it is private for 12 people/12 bunk beds. We needed a quick shower post-beach and before our flight, and there was a dude in the bathroom. Also, there are no towels. And you have to keep pushing the water on and there is only one temperature...it times out. Good for the environment for sure. Staff was pretty snarky and unhelpful. Make sure you have a lot of time on your hands. The lady at the counter said someone would show us our room after she helped a bunch of people...we didn't have this kind of time to wait around...especially since we would shortly discover there was someone in our "private" bathroom already using the shower.

Great place to stay in ipanema! I’ve stayed there twice and enjoyed it thoroughly both times

Nice place, the location is perfect, its located so close to beach and its just one block from the metrostation. the people working there are awesome they speak english. the bar at the night is great place to meet people and get a bit drank everynigth ..

It is one of the best places I’ve stayed, an amazing atmosphere, the staff is very friendly and fun. They offer recommendations of what to do in RIO, they helped me with everything. It has a bar, where it is a good opportunity to meet other guests.

Amazing hostel!

Overall it was a well planned out hostel. It was clean however, it was a big party atmosphere so in the mornings it was messy due to the other people in the room.

Good location to be near Ipanema beach during the day. Not a bad social vibe. Not impressed by lack of water filter (you have to buy bottled water at the hostel). Booking agency also very expensive - charged 25% more for a transfer to Ilha Grande than almost all companies charge. Rooms are decent, but it's not hard to find better hostels in Rio with better vibes that charge similar prices and include breakfast/water.

Overall Stay

Great atmosphere and nice staff. The shared dorms were a very basic. Bathrooms in dorms were cleaned daily. The downside of the rooms was humidity. They fans in the room to help keep an air flow. Windows kept open didn't help since it was humid outside. Sheets were always damp. We stayed Mon-Sat and never had our sheets replaced and they smelled of mildew. The AC was only turned on certain hours of the day which was a bummer if you wanted to sleep past 8am. Lockers were nice and spacious for luggage. They offer free luggage storage after check out. The main hang out area needs more love and comfort. All chairs are wooden fold out, so it makes it hard to get out of the room and lounge like most hostels have. Wifi worked really well. Give 1 free drink each evening at the bar, nice touch! Breakfast option was delicious - good fruits, breads, drinks. Overall it is a hostel so it will not be perfect. I have much experience in various hostels in Rio and it isn't the worst, but not the best.

The hostel is new, and parts are still under construction, but it is very conveniently located near the beach and metro

Nice hostel but not value for money

Stayed over Carnivale in a private room, as far as hostels go it was quite well maintained. The AC was automatically switched off at random points and the breakfast was very basic. For the extortionate amounts paid, I would expect more. The location is very nic however and there isn't much choice in Ipanema.

An upgrade from the Misti in Copacabana

Compared to the Misti in Copacabana, this is a palace. It is newer. The room was for 8 people and had private bathroom. It was clean. The air conditioner is turned on during the night only, so during the day the room is really hot. There is no fan to turn on and the windows do not open widely. The staff was ok. Not as friendly and lively as in the other Misti. The hostels have the same nightly activities. The tours are more expensive in this Misti. The location is fantastic, only one block away from the beach and another block away from a metro station. The only thing is that there are no supermarkets close by, so you have to buy expensive water bottles (4 reales compared to 1.69 in the supermarket). I would stay again in this one.

Staff need to knock

Staff have an awful habit of walking into your room at anytime, unannounced with no knocking. The master key overturns your internal lock so we had staff walk in at 8pm (unannounced with no reason explained); 8:15am (unannounced maybe to clean the room) and 12pm (unannounced to show a third party around our room). We asked them to stop, but it continued during our stay. It wasn't just cleaners, it was receptionist as well.

O barulho do bar chegava até o quarto. Como havia 12 camas no mesmo espaço, o banheiro de dentro do quarto tinha algumas poças d‘água no chão e o tapete estava encharcado. Os funcionários são atenciosos. Vá apenas se vc gosta de party hostel.

Amazing place with super friendly staff

Ambiente jovial, alto astral e muito agitado. Quem gosta de fazer amizades, esse é o lugar. Fiquei no quarto misto e apesar de ter 9 pessoas que nunca se viram na vida, todos foram respeitosos e interagiam muito bem. Muitos gringos de todos os lugares do mundo. Limpeza impecável. Localização excelente à uma quadra da praia. Um ponto a melhorar seria beliches mais altos, tenho 1,55 de altura e não conseguia sentar na cama sem bater a cabeça na cama de cima.

Incrível pessoas legais

Pessoal da recepção muito alegre e com uma energia incrível! Foi muito legal a experiência no hostel e espero voltar mais vezes pra me hospedar nele.

Boa experiência. O Hostel conta staff educado e atencioso, além de ficar muito próximo da praia. O único lado ruim é o chuveiro que não tem pressão e você precisa ficar apertando toda hora. Achei 10 que é sustentável e evita o desperdício, mas depois de um tempo fica irritante.

Die Mitarbeiterinnen waren sehr, sehr zuvorkommend. Das Zimmer hatte keinen wirklichen Zugang zu frischer Luft.

Experiência razoável

Experiência razoável. A distância da praia é o grande diferencial de se hospedar no quarto compartilhado. Acredito que como um concorrente famoso que pratica a mesma precificacao, as camas poderiam ter cortinas para maior privacidade e os colchões já poderiam vir arrumados quando fazemos o check in (é dado um conjunto de lençol na recepção e nos mesmos arrumamos). Chuveiro tinha um péssimo controle de temperatura, em alguns dias funcionava, em outros a água ficava extremamente quente ou extremamente fria. Limpeza boa.

O pessoal super simpático. Mas acho que precisa de cobertores, pois são oferecidos apenas lençóis, mas não é sempre que tá calor.

Bom hostel. Ótima localização.

Pontos positivos: Ótima localização, quarto confortável, ventilador durante o dia e ar condicionado à noite, banheiro bom. Ponto negativo: muito barulho durante o dia (normal) e a noite. Todo o barulho da rua entra no quarto e também sempre tem gente conversando até 3, 4 da madrugada na frente do hostel, bem em baixo da janela dos quartos. Quanto ao atendimento: Equipe até que simpática, mas bem no nível de atendimento dos cariocas (meio sem se preocupar, fazendo apenas o essencial)… No geral, comparado a outros hostels da cidade, nessa época da minha estadia, vale a pena.

Precisa de staff que resolva problemas

Bem localizado e com infraestrutura pensada para hospedagens descomplicadas. Por duas noites não teve água quente. Cofre digital do meu apartamento não foi arrumado para que pudesse usar. Atendimento informal , que deixa a desejar na pró-atividade de solucionar problemas

Foi a minha primeira experiência com Hostel e não poderia ter sido melhor. Funcionários simpáticos e muito solícitos, limpeza dos quartos feita pelo menos 2x por dia. A localização tbm é perfeita, pertinho da praia. Conheci pessoas incríveis e com certeza voltarei!!

Rock in Rio

Foi incrível viver essa experiência, fui sozinho e fui pro Rock in Rio e ganhei vários amigos que vou levar pra sempre do hostel. Lugar maravilhoso recomendo muito irem conhecer ❤️

Bom custo benefício

A localização do Hostel é muito boa, colada com o metro e tb com a praia. Tem bastante comércio e restaurantes perto. Recepção 24h com o pessoal muito simpático e sempre atenciosos. Fiquei num quarto compartilhado feminino, achei bom o banheiro dentro do quarto mas poderia ter tb uma opção fora, por sorte ninguém precisou usar no mesmo horário que eu. O que acho que pode melhorar é o banheiro que tinha só 1 espelho (sendo que tinham duas pias) e a luz perto do box estava queimada a vários dias.

Primeira vez para nunca mais

Fiquei apenas 1 diária, mas foi o suficiente para odiar o local, contei os minutos de saída do meu voo para fazer o check-out. 1. Atendimento na recepção foi maravilhoso 2. Hóspedes nao respeita o descanso dos demais 3. Porta suber barulhenta para fechar, a cada entrada e saida so quarto era um barulho ai ponto de acordar qualquer pessoa 4. Entrou 2 funcionárias da limpeza para linpae o banheiro, as duas conversava como se tivesse na casa delas, muito alto, não tava nem ai se tivesse alguém dormindo. Não voltaria, não recomendo para ninguém, prefiro ficar em outros hostel na redondeza.

Fui victima de publicidad engañosa, en la página decía 80 R por noche y resultó ser 435R la noche. Una estafa! El colchón todo hundido y con arena las sabanas. Solamente estuvimos en el establecimiento 10 hs. No lo recomiendo

O Hostel é muito bem localizado mas no ato do check-in encontrei o quarto bem desorganizado e com bastante lixo dos hóspedes anteriores e não dos que já estavam no quarto. O pessoal da recepção também não prestaram bom atendimento uma vez que sempre que falava com eles davam pouca atenção e se importavam em continuar a conversar entre si a prestar atendimento a mim.

A experiência é incrível, o atendimento é show de bola e a localização é super privilegiada! E o melhor, tem uma estação de bike na porta, e um Lounge na varanda pra tomar uma cervejinha apreciando a vista da rua.

Estadia curta, mas gostei bastante do espaço do bar e varanda, o quarto é espaçoso e a cama confortável, o banheiro poderia estar mais limpo, entretanto. A localização é ótima, a uma quadra tanto da praia de Ipanema quanto do pólo gastronômico da região.

Melhor estadia que já tivemos no RJ

Fomos super bem atendidos por todos, desde a recepção, principalmente pelo Rodrigo e pela camareira que esqueci o nome agora. Super cuidadosos e simpáticos. A localização do hostel é sensacional, muito próximo a praia. Quarto muito confortável. Gostamos demais e iremos indicar a quem pudermos.

The hostel is located just 1 block of the metro station of Ipanema and also it is just 1 block of the Posto 9 of Ipanema Beach! Greattlocation! good people working there! there is a storage room to leave the backpack if you arrive before of the check in time!

the place is jsut a block of the beach (Ipanema beach) for me this was the best thing! I had been in a shared room, its was not bad, we had a bathroom in the room this was so comfortable. the cleanliness was good too. good breakfast and good drinkks! I miss the caipis of the misti!!

Sinceramente no puede existir un trato mejor, se preocuparon porque no habia reservado durante más dias y ya no habia camas disponibles, entonces me ayudaron a encontrar otro lugar en un hostel de la misma cadena (en Copacabana). Hospitalidad en todo momento, siempre bien predispuestos. Creo que las fotos no pueden terminar de describir la buena onda y lo rico y baratos que son los tragos de su bar.

Such a relaxed amazing hostel with the best atmosphere ran by friendly and helpful people. The service here was great. Lovely staff and in the best neighbourhood! I am coming back after Uruguay :)
