Amazing hostel.. the scenery from the hostel was breath-taking. Staff was extremely helpful. Top notch breakfast in the morning. Clean restroom and kitchen. Overall, excellent spot for bag packers and solo travelers. You get to meet friendly people from all over the world. However, I don’t think I would stay there with family.

Nice place with great staff. A bit pricey for a hostel bed but location and breakfast in the morning kind of makes up for it. Facilities are great although showers could be updated. All in all good spot.

Too expensive for what it is. It was old, not that clean and we had to wait until the very last minute before 15PM to have our room. You also have to go all the way down to take a shower.

Very good view from our bedroom window which I liked best. Second, it offers very good breakfast. Location is very convenient. The only thing not good is no private bathroom. Overall the stay is very good experience.

The breakfast was excellent. The quiet hours should include outdoor area due to needing to keep windows open at night.

an affordable Alpine vacation for families

The reception folks were very courteous and helpful. I liked the access to the train station, bus as well as for the cable car from this lodge. I was pleased to find out that we can take the local bus (121,122) for free within the Grindelwald. Overall, it was a pleasant stay!!!!

Honestly, this was the second hostel that I stayed at and it was wonderful. I couldn’t ask for a better experience. I normally don’t ever do reviews but I had to do one for this place everything about it was perfect. And if you get a chance to get Klara as a receptionist, she was wonderful and answered all my questions.

Good location, dated rooms with terrible kitchen

Good location, but the rooms are really dated, the toilets/showers are really basic, the kitchen is really unpractical (no toaster, no oven or hob, just one microwave and a really small fridge for such a big hostel).

The guy at the front desk was very kind and helpful. I asked if I could switch rooms and he said he will check and then he was able to find another room for me. The rooms were clean and spacious. It’s also a great location, close to the terminal, bus stop, and train station.

Great place to stay. Only had issue with other person in same room. Guy was a dick. But the staff was awesome

For the price the place is perfect. Breakfast is amazing. Staff ia very helpful. Parking is 5 Euro a day. 5 min walk from bys stations, train starion and lots of gondolas. There ia a CoOp Grocery store right next to the property.

Awesome location, amazing to have free breakfast just be warned your double bed booking might end up being a couple bunk beds but overall great value

I wanted to express my gratitude to a lady receptionist. I arrived early and stored my luggage in the baggage room and then put the key at the counter. I went to explore Interlaken and called to inform that I would be late for a proper check in and I needed to get the luggage from the baggage room which I didn't have the access to. She was really kind and waited for me, sorry to have kept you waiting.

It was okay, as far as low expectations for a hostel. The one toilet for women on my floor stopped working, instead of a sign, it appeared to just be locked, so women would stand there waiting.

Grossly overprices for what it is - a very bare bones hostel. We were told we needed to pay for towels and we needed to strip our own beds at the end of our stay. Fine, but not for 200 francs per night. We stayed in incredible hotels in Switzerland elsewhere for the same price (checkout the lodge in Niederhorn, for example). The rooms are outdated and simpler than pictured online. Think of a college dormitory from the 80s...smells a bit like it too. The shared bathrooms and showers are rather far from the rooms. The hot tub pictured looks as if it hasn't worked for quite some time. However, the location is very convenient, the breakfast is fine, and the rooms are clean.

This property is at an incredible location. But of course it’s a hostel with shared bathrooms. Property is clean including bathrooms. Gives a great breakfast. The prices are unbeatable.

We called in and had two twin beds a bathroom and air conditioner and they ended up putting us in their other side which was a brothel I'm 61 years old I didn't go on vacation to sleep in the brothel I was a little disappointed the room was fine but I had to walk clear down the hall to go to the bathroom I'm not sure if that was their fault or the booking site we went through but be careful if you went here to make sure you get the right side

This property is not suited for the family. Very unpleasant and not clean. The beds are old.

Just a wrong choice

The hostel was overly communal. I had to share one outlet with my bunkmate. The voltage converter I have to use does not fit with outlets so close together. Their lockers also required a 5 franc piece which I could not be given as change or ask the reception for. Everyones phones also fell under the beds and the only way to retrieve them was with someone with a long arm.

Amazing

It was amazing! The staff were friendly! Breakfast was awesome! Location was brilliant! There was a dog I got to pet! I met some awesome friends on new year’s we had fondue which was amazing!

Excellent place to stay

My experience was very good. The location of the lodge is excellent, right next to Grindelwald terminal station. Room was very clean and staff was very professional and friendly. I would definitely recommend it to people.

I would recommend!

3 min walking distance to grindelwald grund train station and local bus terminal. Local bus is free if you stay here. Staff was super friendly and helpful. This place was the cheapest stay I could find. Air condition was not so great though.

In the middle of the building site for the new cable car, smell of stale beer in communal areas and construction site dust outside. Inaccurate room description on Expedia. We took a refund and stayed elsewhere.

Didn’t enjoy the stay and expensive for a hostel

I would give them 2/5 stars. You have to put on the bedsheets on the mattress, pillow case on the pillow, and cover on the blanket yourself. The bathroom and showers were only downstairs so had to go down everytime. Wifi is only available in the lobby so again have to go downstairs. Towels and such are not provided automatically, and when we asked for them, we got very dirty looks from the staff. Finally, we’ve been to other hostels in Swiss itself where bathrooms were on every floors, wifi available in rooms, beds were already made, towels were provided for each person, and price of the stay was less than this place. Therefore, I would not recommend this place. Only positive was the breakfast was decent. Nothing great, just cereal, milk, bread, butter, jam, some sliced meats and cheese, but satisfying.

Really pretty view of the outside. The kitchen was easy to use.

Coming from America we were surprised at the ease of staying here. Staff spoke enough English to help us with directions and activities!

Great service and very clean!

I was amazed by how clean this hostel was. Toilets, bathrooms, beds. Everything! Julia at the reception was fantastic! She gave us amazing recommendations and hiking tips. When I sprained my leg, they offered ice. The service staff take their time to help everyone. Breakfast is good and the timings are very reasonable. It was off peak when we went so we got the whole room to ourselves. 3 twin beds in our room. 5 francs deposit to use the locker which you get back. We were not charged anything to use the shower. Very close to Grindelwald Grund station. 2 mins walk. Bus usage is free for guests so you can get to the town very easily. Reception will sort out your day for you. Highly recommend. Excellent value for money!

Recommended

Enjoyed our stay here. Room and common areas were clean and the bathrooms were good. Wifi was decent but mainly could only use it in the common area. Kitchen is located in an outdoor area which is nice in the summer. Note that the lockers inside the dorm room could not be used with a personal lock but instead required 0.5 sfr. Breakfast spread was also very good with cereal, yogurt bread, salami and cheese. Hostel pass giving free bus usage was very good for getting to grindelwald station each day

Nice hostel with great views around it.

My wife and I liked this place just fine. We slept in bunk beds that were pushed together, so it was a lot like a full bed higher up. The wifi worked well. We got there late and there was an envelope pinned up by the door waiting for us. We would stay there again.

Poor breakfast selection, bathroom facilities on different floor than room, staff fairly friendly, location is great, right in the heart of Grindelwald.

Nice location where the bus stop just less 1mins walk; Excellent breakfast provided; The only thing is the wardrobe in the room will make noise when people passing by.

Fantastic and reasonable priced stay in Grindelwad

Fantastic experience. Reasonable room rates so that you can spend better on sight seeing and food. All common amenities are managed well and with very high degree of cleanliness. Breakfast was very good. Very close to bus stop and Grund station. In short it is very good option

There's no knife in the kitchen

Good place to stay if you are looking for a basic room at reasonable price in Grindelwald area. Great outdoor kitchen for basic cooking, good free breakfast. We brought our own soap and towels. The hotel is about 20 minute walk (great scenic walk) from Grindelwald main train station but free bus pass is provided. No AC in the room, no fan available. Nice hammock by the creek.

Went really well! Mind the 4pm 1600 check in time though. Breakfast was good, showers were hot, rooms were clean, only downside is the wifi.. it doesn't really work

Little mountain village

The buses in the local area are free! Hostel staff were nice. The free breakfast great!

Proximity to things

Very close to the train station to the top of the Jungfraujoch. But a bit away from the main train station. Close to the hiking on the Jungfraujoch side of the mountain range, but not First mountain. It is a bit of a walk to the main part of town and there is NOTHING to do around the hostel after the buses stop running.

Excellent location to Jungfraujoch ... Since the train station just in front of the hotel. We joined an early morning train that provided a discount and had enough time to do trekking to Jungfrau Hut.

Breathtaking views and great location!

The hostel staff was very accomodating. The room was great. Kitchen was well equiped and mostly clean. The location and the views are absolutely stunning!! This was worth it simply for waking up right at the mountains foothills. It's a great hostel and I would definetely recommend it to anyone visiting the swiss alps. The wifi connection wasn't very good however.

Pleasant and scenic stay

My stay was pleasant. I wouldn't ask for more for a budget hostel at this price but everything come with its price. The bedding is not comfortable and it is hard for me to fall asleep deeply. Both bed sheet and blanket cover make me very itchy all night long. Apart from this, the hostel has a great location. Don't forget to take a walk from Grindelwald down to the hostel. I would say it is the most beautiful part of downtown Grindelwald especially the walkway right by the Swiss railway down the hill. The hostel also offers the free bus ticket, hot tub, and swimming pool in the sport center nearby. However, I didn't use any of them.

Great base for an activity filled stay

Our room had a great view of mountains and a small river. The room was clean and there was enough space for our gear and 4 people. The breakfast had local produce and was yummy. The staff were awesome thanks for making our short stay excellent.

Amazing Location, Average Everything Else

This hotel is in the most picturesque location I've ever been to. can't complain about that. Room was nice and clean for a hostel but the lockers in the room require payments by coin and the door had no lock. the receptionist was particularly useless, the reception has limited hours, so we couldn't sign in until 4, at 4 she told us that lifts to get up to the peaks were already closed, we were really disappointed by this as we were only there for a day, so we did a short hike and then had dinner, after that I saw the gondola to First was still running at 6:20. so I asked if I could still go up and the girl said they had closed at 6, not by far. we wouldn't have missed this experience if the receptionist was informed.

Best Hostel ever!!!

The hostel in the best location and it is very cheep plus that they give you bus tickets for free and local activities discounts. The hostel itself is very clean and offer different services and activities, and the cast are very welcoming and help a lot, in short I was very pleased to be there and for sure will choose it again

英語が話せませんが丁寧に対応してくれました。また朝ごはんにはスイス産のチーズ、ハム、ヨーグルト、バター他にもたくさんあり、コーヒーマシーンも本格的で朝から美味しいカプチーノを飲めて良いスタートができました。 何よりも駅から近いことがありがたいです。重たいスーツケースを持って長く歩かなくていいし、他の街に行きたい時にも簡単にアクセスできます。立地は最高だと思います。 部屋も綺麗でロッカーには鍵まで付いています。自分で持っていく必要はありません。とても良い滞在ができました。

Wir hatten ein Familienzimmer zu sechst als Gruppe. Praktisch, gut und zweckdienlich. Tolles Frühstückbuffet mit feinem Kaffee. Freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal. Eigene Parkplätze gegen geringe Gebühr.

Super auberge, j'ai dormis comme un bébé, les lits sont super confortables. Le personnel est vraiment gentil et serviable, l'auberge est tres bien situé, il y a le parking gratuit, le petit dejeuner inclus est top: copieux, de bonne qualité et les fenetres du petit dejeuner donnent sur la rivière et les montagnes. Je le recomande à 100%

그린델터미널역 바로 옆.식사장소가 있고 전자렌지,커피포트 및 접시 숟갈 있어서 즉석식품 데워 먹을 수 있다. 방에 꼬랑내가 나서 전사람이 더러웠나 추정. 5일째 그 냄새가 좀 옅어진걸로 봐서. 하지만 탈취제 등으로 냄새는 없애고 방을 줬어야 함.다른 사람의 꼬랑내를 맡는건 불쾌했음. 그외는 괜찮았음.
