Waterpark for kids
Kids enjoy the waterpark, but the hotel itself is in need of work. The elevator doesn't sound good, rooms are a bit worn. It would be nice if the rooms had kleenex, liquid soap and better pillows. How about a free cup of coffee?
Waterpark was fun. However, only working hot tub was inside the waterpark, which required an extra $ 20 per person to enter. Definitely not the relaxing time we were anticipating. But did partake in the slides since we were already in there. No coffee in the rooms making you pay $5/cup for coffee at their coffee bar which was only staffed in the early morning and not all day. Room was not particulary clean with dust webs hanging off the ceiling. Refrigerator had 3 in' of ice buildup in it and froze all our carbonated beverages. All plugs-ins were loose and would not hold anything plugged in securely. UPDATES NEEDED!! Bathroom door looked like it came from a junk yard. Pieces of wood missing from the door. Mirrors were smeared and looked like a kid washed them. Beds and pillows were as uncomfortable as they come. I could go on, but I think you get the idea.
It was nice and relaxing. Beautiful view overlooking Lake Superior
Due to covid most of the stuff was closed but had a good weekend anyways
Great location with convenient access to freeway and lake Superior. Awesome view from the room. Good value for the price. Due to covid some of the amenities were not available. Hotel may seem dated from the outside, but the room they gave us a nice, clean, and modern feel. Everything worked well. Staff were very nice and accommodating to our needs or questions. Would more than likely stay there again at next visit to Duluth.
Very disappointing
Was unaware about $100 autorization had to use 2 different cards then at check out they didnt even have one of my credot cards on my receipt for $70 authorization, they owed me $19 which i was unable to receive because there was no manager there. My room was decent but had garbage from previouse people in it and the floor definitely didnt look like it had even been vacuumed found old shrimp on the floor from god knows when. Will definitely not be staying here again.
We are seniors, had to walk a very long way to our room. It's a very large property and in hindsight we should have asked. The door to the little outdoor patio was open. No information in room regarding tv channels, places to eat, etc. I understand that during Covid-19 these paper type things aren't left out, but the packet we received at check in didn't have any info either.
Views good.. rooms horrible.
Balcony room with 2 queens. The room was very dirty, dusty, COLD, smokey smelling and the door was hard to lock... door going to balcony was so drafty the room was super cold. The view of the lake and ships were good, but very loud traffic noise. Very dirty room, toenil clippings on carpet, dust bunnies everywhere, furniture was literally falling apart.
The hotel was dirty service was poor
My room was not very clean- crumbs in drawers ,dirty micro, dirty table by couch-I was concerned about xtra covid cleaning after I saw this, didn’t make for a comfortable stay- sorry
Darn covid
Booked this fun hotel and couldn't use the water park but i couldn't find any info on line about it ... so kinda put a small damper on the tril
Horrible service and extremely dirty
I do not recommend staying at Edgewater Hotel. The desk clerk had awful costumer service skills and made us wait an unnecessary amount of time to check in when no one else was there. The elevator light didn't work to get to our room and when we got to our room the AC system didn't work so I called the front desk and she said she'd place us in another room if we came and got the new key (resort is big and we had to drive from one end to the other). Our room was covered in sticky substances all over the counters, desk and night tables. We brought our own cleaning supplies and left the room with it cleaner than when we arrived. It was absolutely disgusting and I will never stay there again.
The staff was very friendly, efficient and helpful. The property is likely different when there's no "Covid-19" limitations but for my purposes, it was just right.
Broken chair, headboard falling off wall, garbage on side of bed. Property was not well maintained. We’ve stayed here before and we’re satisfied!on those visits. This time we were not.
Not satisfied
The staff at night was rude. They were late getting to the hotel and waterpark was closed. He said that they would be able to use before they checked out the next day. But then they found out the waterpark didnt open again till that evening and the passes that were bought were not valid. They are supposed to be refunding the cost. Not to hit my account though for 3-5 business days. The vending machinea were not working and the night crew refused to sell them water. This is the second time we have stayed. Second time not impressed. Will probably be the last.
Meh
Old hotel could definitely use updating. Beds were very hard, room was awkwardly set up. Broken and loose tiles in bathroom. Bought a cinnamon roll from thw coffee shop for breakfast and it was hard as a rock. Beautiful view of Lake Superior. Enjoyed having a patio. Front desk staff were friendly and efficient. Wouldn't recommend this place.
Great place to stay
Waterpark was awesome wish they had smaller size tube for 3 and 6 year old so they could go down big water slides both were 48” tall diameter of tube to big to sit in also could add some lites in in big slides 6 year old only went down once on dual tube and got scared would only go on kids water slides after that. We all had great time would definitely go back again!👍😊
Outside pool was nice and good water park. Cleanliness could be better in the rooms
There was a fire in the room below us on the second night of our stay. We were outside while the fire dept put out the fire for about 2 hours. We were offered a different room or a full refund, but we opted to stay in our current room. There was a continuous smell in the main room so we had to stay in the second room with smaller beds. We would have liked to been offered a discount due to the situation but were charged the full rate anyway. We also were not allowed to use the waterpark as it was closed on two of the 3 days we were there. Probably won't stay here again.
Nice and friendly staff. I think the place needs to be updated.
I read many of the negative reviews prior to staying here and honestly do not understand all the negativity at all. I enjoyed, as did the kids. Staff was polite and helpful. Pool was clean. My only item to point out was the fact that an adult only whirlpool is needed, with longer hours for the adults.
Will not go back. The rooms are small, the common areas are shabby and the hotel is overpriced. For what they charge you should get a breakfast provided. I suspect that they justify the price by the water park bands you are provided. The water park is decent but there are much much better ones in the Cities or the Dells. For what I paid vs what I received I was very disappointed.
The roar from the freeway was unsettling. Was not smoke free in the hotel rooms. WaterPark was the only decent thing about the edge, I checked out early.
It was a very fun place to take my family but the hotel rooms could use a update and we didn’t like that we had to pay for breakfast
Kids had a blast! Great birthday weekend for our daughter
The water park was a lot of fun. The rooms were nice. It was kind of a maze to get to our room. You had to go either up or down a floor to get to the 2nd floor. And sometimes you had to go down to the 1st floor from the 3rd floor switch elevators or go down the hall to go to the 2nd floor. It was rather inconvenient. The water park closed down from 11 until 4. It was great exercise.
Not enough tables in pool area, but wonderful hotel and waterpark!
We wont be back
Rooms were SMALL, not very clean and need a Major update. Half the outlets didnt work, parking was awful. Half of it is a Motel, not a hotel. Had to walk outside to get to water park. In the summer, no big deal, but in March with lake wind...not fun.
Pool School
It was very perfect!
Family Birthday Celebration
Overall we had a great time. Inside of the hotel needs some updates and the halls need to be cleaned better. Parking is HORRIBLE
The rooms could use a face lift, didnt necessarily feel clean. The water park was so packed and the life guards blew the whistle alot which was slightly annoying.
Hotel was a little old and run down but appeared to be clean
It was very nice. I enjoyed my stay, everything was great. 1st staying at the edge water, excellent experience.
We refused to stay in this room, our skin was crawling and we were very disgusted. Room was old and moldy and dirty. Beds were not queen as the ad said, floppy old stained mattresses full of hair and bed bug feces, there were ants crawling around the bathroom floor and mould and dirt in the corners and cracks of the floor. Rug was old and stained and dirty. Walls stained and bubbling and cracked. We asked for a new room and were denied even though we looked online and saw some available. Staff was rude and didn’t care that we had an issue and were leaving. The pictures on Expedia should be more accurate to what the room actually looks like. For $150 a night I’d be embarrassed to let anyone stay there. Will not return or recommend. Horrible experience And waste of time and inconvenience of having to find a new hotel for the weekend.
Overall our stay was ok. There was only 2 things i didn't care for. One was how crowded the waterpark was. Not enough room to sit and everyone was on top of each other trying to get around. The second part was having to listen to teenagers run up and durden the halls on the second floor and smash onto our room door. I called the front desk and things settled down.
Our room was dirty. There was a swim suit left in the bathroom from previous people, floor wasnt vacuumed, and stains on blankets.
Fun as always at the edge! Stayed in 1302; had stayed in this room a few years ago. The new flooring and paint really made this room comfy!
Besides the Waterpark we had a terrible experience at Edgewater... the room needed so much up keep it was embarrassing! The ceiling in the bathroom was falling apart, lots of debris and what might be mold in the bathroom as well. The light bulbs were burnt out and the staff didn’t even leave soap in the room for us to wash our hands. Coming from Canada to enjoy the Waterpark I was extremely disappointed in the room. Not to mention the noise from the fighting couple in the room next to us! Not worth the money in my mind!
The pictures of the rooms on the Expedia web site are not the rooms they rent. We have stayed at this hotel a few years ago and it was nice because we were in the main building. This year we were housed in a separate building (Motel like) that had had a 1/2 gap between the door and the door threshold. Single digit temps at night and the wind from Lake Superior are whistling in under the door!. We put a towel at the base of the door to block the cold air. Paint was falling off the ceiling, wood chips missing on the bathroom door and the actually had a dead refrigerator as a table for the fridge that was working. worst hotel I've ever stayed in! I have pictures if anyone is interested in seeing them.
Facilities are not in good condition. Lacked cleanliness in room, especially the bathroom.
Room was dated but the lake view made up for it and water park was fantastic! Wish there was more tables/chairs as it does fill up quick!
Waterpark was great. The rest of the facility specifically classic building outdated, bathroom wasn't clean, room was not inside the building, could not do early check-in even though I called earlier and they said we could because cleaning staff was on our floor, luggage carts were way across the building, purchased moutain dew out out of machine and it was expired, buainwss cwnter computers and printer did not work, nor did the business center have a phone in the room, just terrible first experience and probably our last.
The servuce desk and staff was amazing. The extra wtust band prices were insane. The paying extra for breakfast instead of complimentary was ridiculous.
Lots of things were wrong w/ the room. When I went to go report these things at the front desk, staff was neutral about it. They did sag maintenance would come - they didn’t though. Paint and other decor needs refreshing too.
Meh
The Waterpark was a lot of fun for my young child. But the hotel room was not very clean and the beds were not comfortable. I understand that Waterpark is included in the price. But the hotel room was not worth the cost. Cob webs on the ceiling, no bathroom fan, nasty comforters, and we could hear every person in the hallway.
Chilly in Duluth
The water in the waterpark was cold. The whole facility is really outdated.
The hotel is very out dated. Rooms had cobwebs and pealing wallpaper. Had an exterior room and the door had a gap on the bottom that we could see outside, mind you it was winter therefore a draft of cold air was coming in. We did leave the hotel and the manager was really nice and refunded our stay.
No parking, locking doors or hot water.
There is no parking, you are lucky if you can find anything. The look on our room didn't work, so at 10:30 at night, we were moved to another room. Got up the next morning and there was no hot water. Not a very pleasant experience.
There are better places...
The rooms, hallways, stairs, buffet, lounge, everything was old and tattered. The bathroom floor hasn't been cleaned in forever. The first room we got was moldy and had used soap on the sink. It's way understaffed and too expensive for what it is. Kids had fun in the water park though. The outdoor hot tub condition was skeptical.
Kids had fun but the hotel is in poor condition
We live in Duluth and visit The Edge at least twice a year and always have a good time. My children love the water park and arcade! On this visit I noticed that the hotel in general was in poor condition. The carpet is loose in many areas, the walls look like they need a painting, the remote didn't have a cover over the batteries, etc. This is one of our favorite little get away places and it was disappointing to see it in that condition.
It work for my kids
Everything was fine... rooms are becoming dated but are clean.. checkin was fine... longline but kept moving... crowded water park but liked seeing multiple lifeguards walking around...
Great value for family get away
Grandkids had a blast, service was friendly and prompt, room and swimming area was clean. It was an overall positive experience. Decor seemed a little dated, but the price was right.
We had the bunk beds in our room, other than one of the bed sheets being for a girl, i have two boys, they were really cool and super soft! It was neat to see fun kid sheets on a bed.
The front desk personnel was very nice and accommodating! Great customer service and fun!
quite bit dirty, furniture needs definite replacement
Great stay!
It was a lot of family fun. The room was great. Everything was clean. Breakfast was good.
Could be a bit cleaner or more updated. Overall decent
Great waterpark… Not so great hotel.
We came here so the kids could have a fun place to play on New Year’s Eve. The waterpark was great and we all enjoyed it. The food was average and definitely overpriced. The condition of the hotel and room is what was disappointing. The rooms have not been updated in quite some time and were dated and dirty. There was so much dust behind and around the TV I couldn't even put the kids clothes on the entertainment center. And bedspreads were dirty and we found trash on the floor. There also is not a breakfast anymore which adds to the cost of the stay. With the room as expensive as it is, I would have hoped to had a much nicer room and some type of continental breakfast included.
Not worth the money!!!
Not worth any amount of money to stay here. Was not clean. We booked 2 rooms for 6 people each room. Neither room had any bedding for the pull out couches. When we asked for bedding we were told they were out and had no more to give. If I pay for 6 people to sleep we should get bedding for 6 people!!!! Crabby and rude staff with only a couple exceptions.
Staff were excellent. Took the family for a quick weekend getaway and it was great. There was a lot to do in and around the hotel. Our only complaint is the hotel overall is over due some maintenance.
The beds were extremely hard along with the pillows. The pool was really cold and the lifeguards were SO rude!!!!! I was also not told about the "spectator wristbands" until check in. People should not be charged to sit in the pool room and moniter children.
Pool area not kept clean Horrible front desk service or follow up Room was gross and not clean
Great Family Time
Very nice room. Enjoyed the view of the waterpark!
Terrible
Everything was bleh room never got cold the beds and pillows were uncomfortable I would have rather slept on the cold hard ground the hot tube wasn’t even hot
The property is incredibly dated. I am not sure if they have updated the hallways and rooms since the place was built. There is duct tape in numerous spots on the hallway carpet. The wallpaper is peeling. The fridge in my room didn't fit in the spot it was intended so it was just sitting in front of the TV, plugged in.
Room was not as shown on website when booking suite. Went down for concert which was canceled and would not give us any option to cancel even though room was later rented
Just ok at best
Nice enough place for the money basically what you would expect-Not terrible not great lower level rooms are not great- Water park hours seems to fluctuate from the website to what is actually posted in the hotel.
The building is older and needs some renovation. Leaking roof, our toilet was broken. The pool area was cold and the water was cold. My kids didn’t want to stay in the water long.
The waterpark is great. Fun for the kids, well maintained and lifeguards are excellent. They are always keeping watch. The rest of the property is outdated though, and not very well kept up. Seems like all money is put into the water park.
The entire building is old and needs updating badly. Including the waterpark. Roof leaking on 4th floor.
I liked the view and didn’t like the water temp of the water park
Nice...would stay again. The water park was very busy.
The water park was great but the room we stayed in needed some work in the bathroom and the shower needed to be cleaned better
It is a large hotel and confusing to get around. The breakfast buffet ($1.99 for kids, $6.99 adult 13+) was at the end of one of the hotel buildings-5-8 minute walk through hallways. Buffet was good for kids, but probably would recommend going across the parking lot to Perkins for adults. Rooms were nice size, but in need of updates. Waterpark is a great feature. We declined sheet changes because we stayed two nights-they said we would still be fresh towels and cleaning, which we did not. Glad we stayed here, but probably will not return.
Horrible place for the cost
The price was outrageous for what I got. 3 full trash bags were sitting in the hall and right across my room sat a bundle of towels along with a toilet plunger
Mold on showers, huge ice chunk making freezer inoperable, one cup Coffee pot not working, broken moldings on Room, toilet running etc! Yuk!
The pools and waterpark are nice options with kids. We liked the food shack. The thing that will detour us from going back is the hotel is not very clean and ran down. The rooms were dirty and so were the halls. Even upon check in which should be after cleaning.
Too much money for an ok facility. The kids had fun, the outdoor pool and hot tub were a hit. But the hotel is too hard to navigate, and I don't feel for over $300/night is worth that. I would have rather drive farther to the cities and stayed somewhere nicer.
Kind of disappointing
The cleanliness of the room was disappointing. There was a huge cobweb from the floor lamp connecting to the drapes. Many of the drape hooks were not connected to the bar, so they were sagging down quite a bit. Popcorn from previous guest left on the floor. Mold growing in the bathroom ceiling.
Very dirty! Things falling apart. Water park fun.
This place needs a deep clean and investment back into the property.
First room: dismal, hole in wall. The bathroom had hair on the floor and it was apparent no one had cleaned the floors in the bedroom either. Torn curtains, peeling paint, worse than just a worn out property. Room two: to make amends we were moved to a Lakeview king suite. Better all around except that the toilet was broken. To flush, we had to reach into the tank. Loud traffic noise from both London Road and lake-side freeway.
The hotel and room were gross, filthy and unfriendly
Horrible
We canceled our stay here because the room was disgusting. The bathroom had urine on the floor that had been there a while there was black mold all over in the tub and shower area and the ceiling had pealing and chunks of paint hanging and falling off. The bed mattress was really bad. The curtain liners had lots of holes and what looked like blood on it. I t was very dirty including the carpet.
Edgy at the edge water
It was $200 for a night in a tired low end room. The kids enjoyed the water park which helped justify the expense but overall I wouldn’t go again. The facility is tired and in need of renewal. The pool temp was cold and the hot tub over crowded. I could clearly hear people on both sides of me watching tv well into the middle of the night.
This facility has gone down hill with its cleanliness and room conditions in poor repair. Too many young workers that lack customer service experience and no real managers available to solve problems.
Save your money
The quality of a seedy motel at 5 times the price
Not the cleanest of places
The had not been cleaned very well. We arrived to find cereal scattered throughout as well as numerous chips, nut shells, and random hairs. We also found the fridge to have lots of ice build up and a half eaten sandwich still inside. We ended up leaving the hotel cleaner than when we arrived (less the standard laundry) We did have a ground level room with a patch of grass in front of our room, this was good for our dog.
Our room was filthy. Feces on toilet, hair and dirt on bathroom floor, food on heat register, and extremely dirty carpet.
Found water leaking from toilet covering about half of bathroom floor and soaking into carpet at doorway. Contacted desk and the said they’d have maintenance there to look at it. 45 min later, a young man arrived with towels? He was unaware of a problem but was told by “someone” to bring towels. Waited again...now at approx 1 1/2 hrs. Called desk again (3rd time) saying our special needs daughter needs to get to bed and “what is going on...if nothing...move us to another room”. Desk said she needed to check with her manager. Got call to come pickup keys for new room down the hall. New room was a huge upgrade, king plus 2 queens, separate rooms, 2 TVs etc. Nice, dry, but not excessive for our needs. What would have been more appropriate would have been a similar but dry room and some breakfast vouchers (3 x $6.99)
Cleanliness of hotel room was good, check in was easy and friendly. I noticed members of the staff being rude and unapologetic to other guests which put me off.
Quite expensive for a Sunday night with no breakfast included. View of the lake with our balcony was wonderful! It might be considered that if the patrons are not interested in the Water Park and wont' participate, the room rate could be reduced.
We booked here because rooms were going fast due to fall colors, and we had 2 dogs with us. This place is clearly there for the water park and family entertainment, so we didn't make use of their major and best feature. We had a patio room, great for running out our own door to walk the dogs. Hotel is older and worn. When I wnt to the front to get our keys to work again, there was another woman there needing the same thing, and another asking for a different room, saying the room she was given was awful. Finding your way around the maze is pretty confusing; multiple elevators, one of which usually isn't working, and some stairs leading to dead ends! The whole place could use a facelift and better pathways around the enormous complex
There is a lot to do for the kids and a great location. Our room was absolutely disgusting.
This hotel has not been updated since it was built. The room and interior was extremely rundown. There was mold in the shower grout and a thick layer of dust on the bathroom fan. Checking in was about a twenty minute wait. Our room was right off of the arcade and pool and we could hear people running through the halls until at least midnight. Way too much money for the “amenities” and water park. Will not be staying here again.
The layout is a little crazy, our room didn’t have a window that looked out at all so it was pretty dark. Would we stay here again, yes. The Waterpark is a great feature for my kids but it should be open in the mornings!
Our room: puke and other stains on carpet, bedside lamps inoperable, faucet dropped nonstop, deadbolt damaged from apparent prior forced entry, bedskirt hid several 3-4” sharp metal protruding things, hurt my leg repeatedly and it hit my baby in her back playing and left marks. Tub was beyond filthy, paper thin walls, no parking, itchy bed sheets, I went home at 1am it was so bad. For $200! Never again. Also we lost glasses and they couldn’t be troubled to call back with a yes or no about if they’re there. Horrendous.
Family if 4
This hotel is VERY outdated. Our room was in the lowest level of the hotel so it felt like a dungeon. The carpet looked filthy in our room, bedsheets were stained, tub was stained and looked dirty. Our “patio view” was the freeway. The Waterpark was the only decent part of the hotel. For 440 bucks for two nights it was NOT worth the money. We will not be back to this hotel.

We love the area and had a good time. The facility is run down smells a bit.
