Location was great! Little Italy conveniently close. Downtown nightlife not a far drive away. The minor inconvenience was the ice machine on our floor didn't work and the fridge in our room also didn't work.
Old but useable
The hotel is older and all room amenities work but need renovating. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Our stay was good overall. It was very close to Little Italy and that was a plus. Neighborhood is near homeless people so don't wander off in the wrong direction.
Very clean, thank you!
Friendly staff, clean room
Great place to stay, very friendly staff, very clean and very conveiently located by little Italy and the water.
Located in Little Italy. Perfect location.
Whenever I come to San Diego for work I always stay here. The location is perfect, the staff is amazing, and it’s always a great rate! Enjoy the area and all of their awesome restaurants and shops.
A good property, but the garage was a nightmare to exit. Because the exit was so difficult to navigate we try to limit how much we took out our car which then limited how much we could do :(
accessibility
Limited parking options
If your vehicle doesn’t fit in the 6’8” parking structure for $40 per night, then there is only street parking if you are lucky enough to find it in this very busy downtown area.
This is a good property to stay at. The only problem is hotel parking should be free because the parking structure access is so narrow and it is hard to get out.
Great location and quiet and cozy
Very nice, spacious rooms, comfortable bed, very nice staff. Overall an amazing stay!
Good
One week vacation
The parking was to narrow but the stay was great
Great
Clean comfortable rooms. Beautiful views of downtown San Diego. Great price on a Thursday. Myself and my date enjoyed our stay.
Great location
Questionable suds and irresponsible splatter
Nice place and good location but the parking is extra money, narrow and sketchy. If you order room service you need to go get it yourself from downstairs. The jacuzzi spa had some questionable suds and what looked like an irresponsible splatter near it as well that was unsightly. After spending some time there, we noticed there was a lingering mildew smell on our swimwear and skin as well. So mixed stay.
The parking was too narrow!!!
Love it
Great place had everything there plus good parking
Great location and area to stay
Curtains
The room I stayed in 720 the curtains do not shut all the way so you wake up with the sun hitting your face if you are sleeping on the bed next to the balcony. Booked for 4 people but towels left for 2.
We had great service in all areas. Front desk staff always friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were stellar! Momo (the week day server - I apologize if i spelled it wrong - was fantastic. He aways greeted us with a smile and coffee!
Very good
A little noisy with traffic
Beautiful establishment and clean bar
Balcony, hot pool and breakfast advantage hotel.
The view from balcony room and breakfast are amazing. Also the hot pool is relaxing but our stay is too short. Wish the beds are queen sizes. But everything is clean. And balcony and hot pool are the main thing I chose the hotel. Breakfast availability is also another winner.
Did not answer guest services phones for a while, didn’t have a workable QR code for the room for information, the parking lot was soo narrow. Never stayed at a place where I had to go down for basic information more than once because the information wasn’t in the room. The frig in the room wasn’t working and as a pumping mom it was extremely necessary, had to dump milk bc of this inconvenience.
Bed was comfortable. Location was awesome, and staff was very friendly. But parking was a challenge, and some amenities did not work (i.e. mini-fridge, tv remote)
Great staff!
For the cost they need a serious upgrade of the whole building. The cost guest pay is not worth how out dated the hotel is. Staff where very accommodating, especially the Resturant staff. Iv'e traveled over 70 countries and was disappointed as a Hilton Honors member.
Nice
The accommodations were just what we needed for our overnight stay
No coffee in room, and no coffee in lobby for guests. I asked for one in the lobby they charged me $5, Ridiculous!!!!!
The elevators are terrible. Every time we waited around 5-10mins
Well kept establishment one of doubletree antique hotels. We checked in early nice showers and it was less that 15 minutes away from most major attractions.
If you want average, this is the place for you. Not bad, not good, just average
Weekend getaway
Check in was easy and we were greeted with some delicious cookies our stay was extremely satisfactory as the workers were very helpful and gave us what we needed with speed and accuracy. The pool area was a big favorite as it was clean and available for us to enjoy even in November. Had trouble connecting to Wi-Fi but other than that it was a really pleasant stay oh and parking was free
excellent srrvice.
The first room had a very bad odor. Spoke with front desk and they didn’t offer to change my room, so I paid to upgrade to a suite and it was better, but not for the price.
I was excited about customer service they really did a great service
Met expectations, within walking distance of little italy
Decent stay, great location!
The hotel was easy to find w friendly staff. The bed was comfy, but we noticed there were no screen on any windows/doors. We got a room w a balcony- but couldn’t leave the door open because there wasn’t any screen for it. Things like that & a little extra updating of some door panels & floor boards, would really improve its presentation. That said, it was 1 block from the heart if little Italy/ it was great to walk to dinner & farmers market. Their complimentary cookies were terrific! We would definitely stay there again.
Parking was expensive and tight spaces
Rooms dated, bed awesome, lots and lots of noise, location awesome, pool jacuzzi great! Price was good!!
Great location.
It was great
It was great I would stay there again it was very close to downtown gaslamp and restaurants. The staff was great the room was clean.
Very nice and clean
We had a great stay
Good hotel for business trips.
.
Perfect
Property was convenient and close to little Italy. Farmer’s market is right down the street and just a couple blocks down from the little Italy food hall. Not too far from the airport either. Great location.
The bed was great the pillows were awesome. I liked that they provided 4 pillows for each bed.
Great location in little italy. Comfortable room. Nice city view on upper floors.
Very welcoming and accommodating front desk staff
Little Italy getaway
Beautiful and stylish hotel reflects character and rustic charm of Little Italy neighborhood. Wonderful location. Sunday and Wednesday farmers market right outside our door. Wonderful staff.
Easy checkin. Great location. Staff very helpful.
The parking is very tricky! They only have double beds, no queens. Front desk staff need some hospitality training.
The property is clean and well staffed. The parking lot is a hazard in itself and needs renovations. During my stay the elevator had issues throughout the weekend and all eventually gave out by Sunday morning. The staff were attentive and visible during this. So helpful!
Due to elevators going out of service multiple times during our weekend here we missed a few reservations. We had to use the stairs and we were on the 20th floor. Staff is great and property is clean. maintenance should be available to fix elevators.
Very clean and comfortable beds! Walking distance to little Italy! Great staff! Love the cookies!
Excellent service
Right in front of hotel were lines of people in tents a whole encampment dangerous area not safe
Great staff
The view from my room.
The view of bay was excellent
Everything was amazing thank you
The parking situation was insane, extremely narrow and hard to find good parking because of how poorly made the structure is. They charge 40$ for a sardin can of parking which is insane. The place is super crowded and felt cramped. Elevator takes forever and the restrooms have zero ventilation. The walls are thin and you can hear the people next door. Overall disappointed with this stay.
Great place
Three times the emergency alarm was set off in one evening. No explanation….., on the 9th floor.
Normally, this hotel has consistent and reliable service and amenities, but this is what we encountered that drove the rating down: 1. Sewage smell in the restroom 2. Elevator 3 was out of order an entire day causing over 10 min wait time for elevators 3. False fire alarm 3x, 2x in the middle of the night causing sleep disruption
Front desk clerk was rude
.
The parking garage was very tight & poorly marked. I stayed for 4 nights & the toilet seat was broken the entire stay. the hotel & room were dated & a bit worn out. Great location.
Convenient and comfortable.
Hotel stay was good. Convenient location to get to shops and restaurants. Asked for clean towels on second night and was told the staff was at lunch and towels were never brought to room.
I love everything about it 10/10
I enjoyed my stay at the DoubleTree. Make sure you do not get a room that faces the freeway. It is very noisy. The "ocean view" rooms were quiet. The staff was friendly in changing my room. It is centrally located to get to the Gaslamp District, Zoo, and Balboa Park. I did drive to all of these locations but they are walkable. The have free Tesla charging, which is a big plus. Too bad ICE cars were parked in 2 of the spots, which I did report to the front desk. The parking lot ramps are very narrow. That was little scary. I did see a few unhoused people on the street surrounding the hotel, but it wasn't a problem. I will most likely stay here again.
Close to Little Italy is convenient. Overall nice stay.
Overall I enjoyed my stay but a few issues First the bad. The WiFi is on an older WiFi protocol. I couldn’t connect with my Apple devices and it was very slow connecting with my android. It was basically unusable. The weekend seems to draw a lot of partiers. Fr-Sat night were extremely loud. The lobby is very nice but not a very big lounge area. The good. The pool area is nice with a jacuzzi. The room had a great balcony with a view of San Diego. Very spacious and comfortable. The location is great. Right off the interstate and 2 blocks to a very vibrant Little Italy with tons of dining and entertainment. Would be better with a few tweaks. Like I said this area is popular for people wanting to party so might be tricky to find a quiet hotel in this part of town. They did tell me September and October are slower months for SD.
Parking inside the building was pretty tight but overall enjoyed
For being downtown it was kinda loud. Homeless camp across the street by the interstate however they did not bother us. Close to restaurants and easy to get to. Staff we friendly and helpful
This hotel was located in a great area. The only issues were the very slow elevators and the parking. The parking was extremely convenient but the entrances and exits were so narrow, I dont know how a large SUV or truck could fit into it without hitting the wall. Overall, I would give it a 5, just minus one for the elevators and parking. I definitely would and plan to stay here again.
Nice place and conveniently located. Service staff was polite and accommodating. Front desk friendly and helpful. Our only issue was the tv wasn’t the greatest .
Outdated rooms, great staff service
Hotel rooms were pretty outdated and dingy feeling. The noise was pretty bad, maybe the walls were really thin? The parking garage was awful. Very narrow ramps, I was terrified of scraping my rental suv car. Get a small rental car if you’re parking here. It’s also expensive to park $40/night) However, the outstanding level of service made up for all that. I forgot my toothbrush and it was very easy and quick to get assistance. I unexpectedly got sick and needed mate checkout and they were gracious to give me noon late checkout.
It was nice location
Worst hotel and staff
The stay was horrible. The first room they gave me smelled like pee and there were stains on bedding. So when I asked if I could be moved the front desk guy gave me attitude didn’t really want to give me another room. Finally, another person came over gave me another room. Then they told me that parking was very limited even though I had paid for the parking I had gotten a ticket and my other business partner got towed because they told us to park over in a certain section, when I asked for corporate number, they wanted to give it to me one of the guys corporate number. I'm never staying at this hotel and on top of it they didn’t wanna accommodate me in anyway.

Quality. Super clean. Nice parking garage. Welcoming staff. Good breakfast. Zero complaints whatsoever.
Our stay was perfect!
Bad customer service
My stay was nice but checking in the front desk person did not explain anything just are you parking with us we said yes and she said it will be xtra charge she did not explain the amount, and nor did she mention deposit amount and how deposit works. She just took my card told us which floor gave us key card. Bad customer service. And I never recieved my deposit!!!
Front desk were all welcoming, nice, and professional. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you
The hotel was fairly decent, however 2 out of 3 elevators were down and it's a 20 story building, so waiting was atrocious. The front desk was unfamiliar with where parking options were near the hotel, which I thought was interesting since their parking garage is small. If you are driving to San Diego, I would look elsewhere or you will be spending an insane amount in paid parking lots.
Made a mistake this time
Made the mistake of booking an urgent couple of nights through hotels.com - forgot that is not the best way since prices were very high.
I was expecting a little more from this property. It seems run down in many areas except the front lobby which makes it seem like the whole property would be at that standard. It was also inconvenient there are no toiletries available even for purchase. We also had someone enter our room with a key that was assigned to them by the front desk. It was shocking for both of us and scary to think this can happen. I went to the front desk because our keys were not working due to this and she just said sorry. I feel there should have been something done to alleviate this stressful situation.
Hotel Need renovation
Wouldn’t rebooked. Charged for parking and it was no available parking spots they don’t even offer free coffee in the morning. Worst Hilton I’ve ever stayed in
