Good location, close to Times Square, Port Authority, and the theater district. Rooms are a lot smaller than average hotels with very limited space to move around or put luggages in, lights are dim and scarce. The aircon wasn’t working on our last night. Valet parking is a little bit expensive at $90 per 24hr of stay. Otherwise, staff are friendly and helpful.
Lobby is entire too small for the size of the hotel. Ridicules lines & waits time for an elevator. No bathrooms in the lobby, had to track down someone for a key for access to the downstairs bathrooms.
Room was good and comfortable. But lobby and restaurant was freezing nearly all the time. Plus the breakfast was poor and very expensive.
.
Staff was very friendly and accommodating for the most part. Was never able to locate a working ice machine on any of the even floors I was told they were on plus there was no mini fridge in the room which would've helped. Could've used an extra bellman on site as well. The grab and go drink area had no doors on it therefore all items were warm or room temp.
Rooms are to small. Bathroom very small
Delayed check in
Check in was super long, delayed for couple hours
Good stay in busy season
Good room. Lobby is a mess and main entrance is blocked and we had a flood in our room in the 7th floor had a flood in hallway. But can’t complain about it, since it was Christmas and they were very busy.
Very good
Staff and customer service was top tier. Bag check was easy and convenient and front desk check in and check out was seamless. Staff made us feel welcomed. They offered us lots of cookies and even gave us breakfast vouchers. Room was kept clean and common areas remained clean as well. Hotel was nicely decorated for the holidays. Room was spacious for NYC and we had a refrigerator, which was a nice bonus. Definitely would book again.
Hotel lobby was very cold. The restaurant was so cold they couldn’t keep the food hot. The rooms were very small but service was good. Hard to get an elevator
Poor
The room didn't had no heat, we did reported the technician, he couldn't fix it so he gave us a electric heater. We had to sleep with our clothes on.
Everything was PERFECT!
Nice place to stay in Manhattan
Nice convenient location. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Elevator took too long
hidden fees, understaffed, dirty, poor control on temperature, terrible food, broken door and appliances
Whilst the hotel was centrally located and the rooms were comfy the wait for elevators was a joke. The check in staff need training in customer service, I have never experienced rudeness like it.
Wish there was a fridge of microwave in the rooms, even if it was a small one.
The elevators were slow. Heater didn’t work.
Rooms are pretty small, but good location. Staff was very helpful, friendly
Everything was amazing! My family had to book late evening because we missed our bus home. The woman that checked us in went above and beyond to give us the best last minute accommodations and I totally appreciate her for that! I forget her name, but I pray she is continually blessed. What may seem like small gestures to some are huge blessings to others and they definitely are acknowledged. ❤️
Pictures are misleading! The property does not meet the normal Hilton standard. 36 floors with only four elevators! There was always a long wait and the staff used the same elevators. No heat!
It was great, room nice, warm, clean! Service great! Just too cold in the dining area! It’s amazing we could leave our luggage in the hotel before check in and after check out! It’s really helpful! Lady in the front desk helped us because we missed the bus going to NY and didn’t do the check in on time because of this. When we arrived she told us we had to communicate with the Hotel otherwise we’d miss the reservation that in fact we missed but she found another room for us! I didn’t have this info im my email and this should be made clear for the guests! Lady was great! I can’t imagine being with my family in NY without a room to spend the night.
I like the wardrobe of the concierge that helped us get back to the airport. Seemed classy and old school.
Staff is very pleasant and accommodating
The location is convenient. There is a massive overhaul of this property. The entrance is not even marked. We went by it twice. Once through the door the corridor rug covers uneven ground and floor. There are 4 elevators. There was always a minimum 5 minute wait Thr property should be closed while being renovated.
Staff rude and they tried to blame guest when we complained about room service They treat like the guest are fool
The area feels unsafe
The property is pretty run down for the the prices they charge. While the location is quite convenient, it's overrun with tourists and is quite dirty and noisy. On the good side, the staff did everything they could to make things right after giving away our reserved room and putting us for our first night in a run down room with a hole in the ceiling above the bathtub and wall paper peeling off the walls.
The staff was professional and courteous. We had an issue with our reservation and they were very helpful
Not up to the standard by a long way of the hotel presented online. Very disappointing.
We had an amazing time at this hotel, surprisingly it wasn’t noisy at night either.
Good experience
Rooms were clean, but small. Staff was helpful. There was no place to sit and dine if you grabbed fast food. Very small common area in lobby and lobby was very dark. Besides those two things hotel stay was overall good and nice location. Close to Times Square.
The elevator is not too bad, just crowded. No working ice machine on any floor. My experience with staff was exceptional, especially front desk rep Dominique.
Great value, staff was fantastic. Beware of driving to location, 40th is a VERY busy street
Hotel okay, I was disappointed when I did not get king size bed. Not to Please with location, even do it close to every thing
Not for business travelers
The lobby is like an insane Bus station packed like sardines with people and luggage at all hours. It takes forever to get an elevator and no one working there cares at all!!! Everyone has a ridiculous amount of luggage and no where to go. I travel all the time and have never seen the likes of this!
I had a reservation here to pay at hotel for 3 months in advance and they canceled my reservation while i was flying in. Saying they tried to run my card, which was invalid. No answer on phone and Expedia Rep couldn't get through the line fpr 20 min. They sold my room and would not help me. Staff was rude, the area was very dark, under construction, and i heard lots of guest complaining about no hot water and the staff said it was broken. Do not waste your money here!
Room has no heater, no hot water, water was very cloudy could not use sink, towels came dirty, bed was dirty and not washed, elevators were very spotty and did not work most of the trip, having to climb 15 flights of stairs.
Find somewhere else
I wouldn't choose to stay here again or recommend this hotel to anyone I know. The photos on line make it look much brighter and glossier when in real life it is very weathered and worn. We had sockets falling off the walls, no main light in the main bedroom area just wall fixed bedside lights. No space to store luggage cases, the tiniest wardrobe for hanging- the rail is front to back not left to right so you can't easily put anything on it or take anything off of it, and 2 very small double beds- I don't think these would have been classed as a UK small double. The woman who should have welcomed us was rude- in fact all of the women we encountered there were rude. The friendliest person by far was a bar man called Daniel- well done to him. The rooms were extremely noisy and ours did not feel especially clean.
Two of the four elevators did not appear to be working. Very long wait to finally get on.
Room too old
No not water. Ran water for almost two hours and still no hot water. Was given excuses of why there’s no hot water on our floor. Was told they couldn’t switch room, unacceptable. Will not stay here ever again.
No hot water, ice machine broken, no towels or coat hangers when checked in, no beds made or trash taken out by room service.
Enjoyed my time at the hotel, the location is so convinient!
Had no problems! Room is small but plenty good enough. Front desk team was super nice, even upgraded us to city view for free (GREAT VIEW!!!). Zero safety concern, it's a bit dark, couple homeless people but never felt unsafe in our week there. Excellent location for visitors. Right by the subway, inside of a half hour to all the major NYC sights. Rooms: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Location: 5/5
Rooms were small, but it was perfect for a couple nights. Easy walk to Times Square. Clean hotel - no complaints!
Overall it was good. Did not have hot water the first night to shower, but it was fixed by the morning.
Rooms need to be updated
The room was very small and not as shown in photos. No electric tea kettle in the room nor was provided when requested.
The location is amazing, the room is small and elevator so busy u will wait min 5 mins to get in
Excellent
Despite the incredibly high prices, I did not have hot water and had issues with heat. Thankfully staff moved me to a different room for the second of two nights, but disappointed that it was necessary in the first place.
Great service but rooms are broken
The room had a damaged washroom door, toilet paper holder fallen off and the shower missing a seal on the bottom so water would leak out. The room is in desperate need of basic maintenance. Check in was supposed to be at 3 pm but we didn't get to go in till over an hour later, they need more cleaning staff. The staff was friendly and maintenance came and fixed some issues but these should have been taken care of earlier.
The staff at the restaurant was not helpful at all. Went down for breakfast and ordered from the menu. After I ate I asked to order a meal for takeout and was told that breakfast menu items were no longer available because it was 11:15am. I told them that I was told the night before that breakfast is served until 11:30 AM. The response was they had miss-information and that I could order but it had to be from the lunch menu. What was most upsetting was that they breakfast buffet food was still out and it wasn’t even offered as an option. Very poor customer service!!
Perfect to visit New York
Hotel friendly were helpful & friendly, location was good, however condition of room & property require updating in relation cost of room
It was an ok place to stay for a few days
It was a great stay! Would stay again
Convenient to Port Authority and Javits center.
A very busy property with small but clean rooms. My room had to maintenance issues.1) The door needed to be pulled shut when leaving the room. 2) The bathroom sink faucet was difficult to operate
Everything was great
Road is a bit of a cluster in front of the hotel with traffic coming off the Lincoln Tunnel. Valet was friendly and we got checked in without too much trouble. We didn't have issues with beggars immediately around the hotel as some seem to have. Subway and buses are very close and Times Square is a quick walk. Staff was professional and responsive. Room was ok size for NY, it was clean and well appointed for the price. I'd stay there again.
Heat wasn’t working properly in room. We were lied to about when we could check in. And the staff lied about the property having a roooftop bar which ended up being under construction. When expressing these concerns there was little remorse and the experience was very poor.
Great location
Great location, close to restaurants in Hells Kitchen, short walk to Times Square, theatres, Bryan park and Port terminal is right across street. service was good, I liked they offered bottled water as needed, beds and pillows very comfortable. The only area for improvement is elevators & stairs, I highly recommend enabling card entrance via stairs… it would reduce the elevator traffic a lot. Staff were very helpful, friendly, well run place
Nice rooms and easy walking to many major attractions.
Property and room area is very noisy snd heat in the room didn't work! Technician tried to fix but they couldn't. Room git very cold.
The only problem I had was that I was on the 24th floor and the elevators were very crowded, so it made them slow. That's nothing the hotel staff could do anything about but just keep this in mind when checking out to trying to make an appointment or show on time.
Shocking start ruined the overall experience
After a 7 hrs flight, 3 hours at customs, last thing you wanna hear is your hotel room hasn’t been paid for eventhough I had receipts and proof id paid. They didn’t care. Lady at reception said sort it out with Hotels.com then get back to us. Spent an hour trying to sort this mess out, and eventually did. Hilton had confused me with someone else with a similar name, had to get the lady from Hotels.com to talk to Hilton on my phone in order to sort it. Ridiculous all round. Melanie and Mariana for their part were lovely in trying to sort it out for me. Gave me free breakfast and late checkout for the trouble but the other 2 receptionists were horrible. Ruined my first trip to NYC. Room was average, small and clean. Decent tv size and bathroom. Biggest problem is elevators. Massive wait, everyday, no matter the time but I’m told this is common in NYC during the holidays. Wouldn’t come back here.
I love doubletrees because they have comfy beds and yummy cookies so I stay at them frequently for both personal and work travel. This property is convenient and clean. However, lines for elevators are long, as well as for the bag check - so plan accordingly.
Great staff, great location, free cookies 😊
It was one of the most terrible experiences I have ever had at a hotel in my entire life - I actually went and slept at another place for the first night because I am diabetic and the check in the guy was really nice and he saw me feeling not well and he wanted to help me and I told him that the phone in my room has no cablesI cannot call for help if something happens- not fixed as well - in my room the heat didn’t work it was so cold and smell so bad with no clean air I couldn’t even stay at the room, but the receptionist said they’re fully booked so I got the low level room at 8 floorjust took myself and left because I head such a bad day it was to much to handle . When I got back I wanted to shower the head of the shower squirts everywhere the water temperature you cannot control it’s either you get burned or freeze the curtains could not close up to point where the room is without light so you cannot have a normal sleep. On top of all - there are renovations Two buildings around the hotel so at 7 o’clock in the morning the construction started then it stopped then it started again at eight then at nine and then again at nine… The breakfast was terrible nothing was set, I kindly asked if I could get some bacon please or a cheese or maybe some sort of a vegetable a guy came out I think he is the cook spoke to me in a different language with a lot of anger through the plates on my table with burn up to crisp bacon I showed the waiters they were shocked and apologized -came
Everyone here was amazing. Front staff were kind and helpful. The food in the bar and the bartender were awesome. We ordered the steak and mashed potatoes. Yummy! Room cleaned and fresh towels everyday. They stored our luggage on the last day and the guy that handled that was the best! Perfect location!
Wonderful location and comfortable stay. The only downside is the elevators. Very long wait times and one wasn’t working properly. Nice rooftop bar with fabulous views. Close to all the action. Would definitely stay here again.
Rooms were 'fine' but not great. Kind of dirty and floors had nit been vacuumed in some time. Even elevator had not been vacuumed
.
Always a great stay with Double Trees!
Well located for subway access, restaurants. Rooftop balcony is over-the-top amazing. Staff was responsive.
The food in the restaurant was not very good
The excelente hotel!
Wednesday to Friday Stay
It was a fairly good stay. The room was incredibly tiny, they don't make it look like that online. However, by previous experience of staying in NYC hotels, I was prepared for a small room. I feel as though this room was extremely small. I think the hotel could use a little TLC, there was tape on the bathroom walls, cracks in the bathroom sink, the railings in the elevator had fallen off, and there were cracks in the lobby tile.
The property was clean but there was a lot of homeless people around the property. The room was cold. I had the head on 80° but the room was still cold
Water pressure was bad, whenever I took a shower the floor get really wet from the shower. Bathroom door had large gaps
Small and uncomfortable
The rooms were incredibly small for two people. The rooms are very outdated and when the cleaning service came they didn’t replace the coffee and cups. Overpriced and had to move rooms because the tv was not working. The roof bar was just a bartender with limited selection.
Great location and front staff
Nice stay
Everyone was super friendly. The towels were a little rough. Cookies excellent!
Bad service ever
Worst service ever at a Hilton hotel.
Was disappointed that the roof top bar was closed for refurbishment and had not been informed before booking.
Room never got cool enough Sink backed up Floor got wet from shower Elevator 1 was very shaky, a little scary Overall very good, those were minor but thought you should know
Rooftop wasn’t accessible. That was one of the main reasons i booked this hotel. Rooftop looked very beautiful. Was disappointed. Front staff is very polite. Bathroom fan is our room wasn’t working either.
The stay here was okay. Would expect much better facilities for the amount paid.
Very friendly staff, clean rooms and spacious -especially for NYC.
Bad beds and bad pillows
Lovely
Let down
I booked a stay it was still saying booking live, when we arrived from London no booking, as a hitch with my card apparently, no email nothing, even had an e mail from the hotel on the 2nd to say looking forward to our arrival, on the 3rd they wanted to charge me a higher room rate joke
They canceled my booking with no notification and for no reason and then tried to make me pay a higher rate for the room
The property needs some maintenance work, the carpet in my room was tattered and the elevators need cosmetic work.
We paid close to $600 for a one night stay. While it was not necessarily dirty, the door to bathroom was broken, the light around the bathroom mirror puled off and on, the toilet paper holder must have recently been repaired so was was speckled, not painted so overall room just felt a mess. The bellman/vaket service is top notch. I'd repair room 2017 before allowing anyone else in there.
During our stay it was very nice and I love the view.
We really enjoyed our stay at Doubletree! This is the second of their properties we have stayed in during Christmas in NYC. Will be returning!
