Really horrible experience. The elevator was not functioning, only one is available for all levels. We bring the luggage using the stairs otherwise need to wait for an hour. We’re forced to change our room from city view and river view to no views rooms (which is meant to be cheaper) in order to not using the elevator. The room is really noisy which we can hear clearly from the corridor and really noisy in the street due to low level. Also the day we checked in, the price dropped by 400usd for three nights. And 800usd for 2 rooms in total. Worst hotel experience ever.
Overall solid experience for lower Manhattan at a decent price point. However elevators were broken during our stay which hindered our experience - when we were trying to checkout, the whole process took 1.5 hours longer than normal bc we had to walk up and down 40 flights of stairs. Signage / notice of the broken elevators and what was being done to address it were minimal, leading to a lot of confused and frustrated tenants aside from ourselves.
Call and ask if elevator has been fixed before making a booking. With one elevator out of service you can get stuck on your floor for 40mim
The elevator was a nightmare
We were inconvenienced with the long, wait times for the elevators. Had to walk down from the 22nd floor several times. If it wasn’t for most hotels being booked, we would’ve checked out. The front desk personnel…. Wonderful . They did they’re best to accommodate considering the circumstances.
All the Team members I interacted with were so helpful and friendly, Love it there !!! I will be back.
Lift doesn't work. Had to wait for more than 20 minutes just to get on the lift. if there is some special price for parking for the hotel residents and stamp is required on the parking ticket, why was this information not conveyed clearly. Had to do multiple rounds just to get the stamp on the parking ticket.
Clean and good location
Great hotel, clean! And friendly staff, and the room felt big for NYC! Fun to stay in financial district and perfect for pre- and post- Statue of Liberty viewing! Cloae access to 1-2-3 red line was also great for getting to different neighborhoods uptown.
Only one elevator is working and there is an engineer that controls it. The only way you can catch it is either from the lobby or if you call the reception and tell them you need the elevator to check out.
Mixed bag
Rooms are small even for NYC, but clean. We had a room for 4 with 2 double beds and barely had any space to move around, having to step over each others’ luggage. The staff was very nice and polite but the hotel seems understaffed. Not the employees’ fault, they’re doing their best. The biggest problem was the elevators. I had read other reviews before our stay noting the long elevator wait times but I thought it was an exaggeration; it’s not - we routinely had to wait 10-15 minutes. They have 3 elevators of which 1 was broken during our entire stay. This is not enough for a hotel with 30+ floors. On our last day, all the elevators were broken and we had to walk down 25 floors with our luggage.
I like the space for me and my friends to spend our Christmas get-together! But having one elevator working for 40 floors is ridiculous! Luckily we were assigned in 4th floor.
Amazing hotel, the only issue is the elevator! Soooooooo slow
Apart from the slow and lengthy wait for the elevators, the property, staff and service are excellent.
Ok, but the amenities could have been better
The rooms were nice and clean, but there was one elevator diwn which made it very difficult to maneuver in and out of the room. Also, customer service wasnt as great as well. They seemed to be short staffed at times. I personally wouldnt stay here again.
Good Service
The elevator was not working properly and k stayed on the 35th floor. The elevator wait time was about 30 minutes sometimes.
Rude.
Location was convenient for subway transportation . Hotel elevators were slow
We stayed for 2 nights
I had to walk up and down the staircase after seeing… The extreme inconvenience, as soon as you come to the hotel you have to wait for the elevator which takes awhile to come and when it does come it’s too full of guest, staff and staff with equipment. When I stayed there was first 1 elevator down then 2 elevators down. Once you have to go down the elevator, and you’re on your floor you can’t see what floor number the elevator is on, while your waiting an inconvenient amount of time, especially if you called a cab. You would have to wait until you get down to the ground level. The cookies you are offered were burnt and not like the cookies I had at other doubletree hotels.
Everything is fine, but they have 3 elevators in total and only 2 of them are working, and only 1 can be used by customers. Normally waiting time for elevator is half hour in the busy time. AC is really loud. Nice location by the way.
Good location and the subway 🚇 at the corner
Elevator is the only thing I would complain about. Sometimes waiting for ages for it to reach your floor and maybe not at all. Ended up taking stairs down 16 floors one night because I was about to run late to a commitment.
Good
Bad Elevator good location.
Location is great. Near all the subway station. Elevator is horrible. Takes avg 10min to get on one. Needs to be savvy and go on elevator ride. For the price it is good but do not expect much.
Okay
Nothing special. Some receptionists could be a bit friendly..
Our room was clean and comfortable. Small but this is NYC. The front desk held our luggage until we were able to check in. The elevator wait is long but not unbearable. Friendly staff.
Great place to stay.
Wait for elevator is way long.
My room was next to elevator and it was noisy.
Nothing wrong with hotel. Great location. Lots of really cool places to eat around including London & Martin next door. However, the elevator situation is crazy. Ended up using the stairs most of the time. They were slow and small. Thankfully we were on 8th floor so the stairs wasn’t too bad but honestly probably wouldn’t stay again in case we got a higher level
The bed was bad and the elevator
Elevators are very slow and housekeeping staff should use service elevator only not the guest elevators. There is no porter available to help guests in taking luggage to their rooms during check in and check out. Breakfast was good and staff in reception and restaurant are so kind and helpful.
Great location
Great place to stay.
Good location, not my favorite
Hotel location is great and the staff is wonderful. Didn’t love our room. There are motion sensor lights that would turn on during the night. Basically as soon as someone stands up from the bed or moves around at all, all the lights would turn on.
Our room 4009 was great, yes it was small but that's to be expected in NYC, my husband, baby, and I all were comfortable, the bathroom was big enough and the shower head was actually high for tall people. Our room had a water view and a city view which we loved plus it was away from the elevators, we did not want a room in front the elevators. People complained about the elevators but we had zero issues Thursday and Friday. Saturday morning elevators were busy and took a little bit to get down but that was a peak day and we were not in the hotel that day at all to care. We will definitely stay here again, we really enjoyed our stay.
Everything’s good! Very convenient! But the elevators in the hotel are so sucks! Waiting forever for a ride!
This would have been a great review except for the elevator situation. WAYYYYY too many rooms for three elevators. We were on floor nine so too far to walk and I believe there are 44 floors! Our last night we waited fifteen minutes for an elevator to go up. That was longest wait but several minutes was common. It was frustrating.
Very good section in New York n great room
Great place
easy transportation access
Great
They’re buttons to catch the elevator in the hotel didn’t work so we had to we had to wait 5-10 minutes each time we caught it , it was knats flying in our room every night we were there plus the thermostat worked when it wanted to.
Safe area around hotel, doesn’t feel sketchy at all which some areas around can. A handful of restaurants and fast food within walking distance also is a plus.
We always stay here when in New York . It’s close to everything . Everything is always great
We absolutely loved our stay here. The location is perfect and very close to the metro stations. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be back.
The stay was pretty great and comfortable. I loved the room. For some reason water took too long to warm up that I thought there wasn’t hot water, it ended up just taking too long bit it was fine.
Sound insulation is so poor. Do not recommend if you are sensitive to noise. Otherwise, good place to stay.
Clean
The best!
It was my first time starting at a Hilton Hotel. First time experience was amazing!
Great place to stay
Hotel is in a great location and had what we needed as far as amenities. However I did not give it a great review because (1) the rooms were very drafty because of the heating/air conditioning units. Cold air just flowed in underneath and kept the room chilly (and the floor freezing?). And (2) the elevators were slow and not really sufficient for the number of floors/rooms in the hotel. Luckily we were low enough where we could walk down, which we had to do one day after waiting 20 minutes. Needs improvement.
This property is conveniently located near great shopping, dining, and many other downtown attractions. The property is clean and the rooms are spacious, however there are only two elevators and it can add ten to fifteen minutes when going out or returning.
Best Hotel in Financial District!!!
Great staff
I had an incredible stay! Such great staff very helpful and kind! The hotel was very clean and nice
Took forever to check in. Not enough elevators to support traffic. They don't even allow food delivery up to your room so you have to wait for an elevator and then go down 20 floors. The room was clean however you could hear every door slamming out in the hallway all night. The room was perfect though!
One of the cheapest not rundown hotels in the area. Metro station closeby as well as many restaurant options
very bad experience and they over charge my account for another extra money which is very bad and they got my account over drawn. very bad and i will never ever go there again, i stayed for two night and they charge my card for three days and they were being very rude about it
Rooms needs a table and a microwave
It was one of the most terrible experiences I have ever had at a hotel in my entire life - I actually went and slept at another place for the first night because I am diabetic and the check in the guy was really nice and he saw me feeling not well and he wanted to help me and I told him that the phone in my room has no cablesI cannot call for help if something happens- not fixed as well - in my room the heat didn’t work it was so cold and smell so bad with no clean air I couldn’t even stay at the room, but the receptionist said they’re fully booked so I got the low level room at 8 floorjust took myself and left because I head such a bad day it was to much to handle . When I got back I wanted to shower the head of the shower squirts everywhere the water temperature you cannot control it’s either you get burned or freeze the curtains could not close up to point where the room is without light so you cannot have a normal sleep. On top of all - there are renovations Two buildings around the hotel so at 7 o’clock in the morning the construction started then it stopped then it started again at eight then at nine and then again at nine… The breakfast was terrible nothing was set, I kindly asked if I could get some bacon please or a cheese or maybe some sort of a vegetable a guy came out I think he is the cook spoke to me in a different language with a lot of anger through the plates on my table with burn up to crisp bacon I showed the waiters they were shocked and apologized -came
It was nice and good staff, so easy to get around and felt safe in the area.
Great location
Loved the stay and convenience of the hotel. However my TV or phone sis not work. With it being many floors in the hotel, a working landline would be important.
Waited 20 minutes for the elevator and loads of people just took the stairs instead of waiting. We stayed on the 30th floor so we took the stairs down and still made it 30 floors down while the other half of our party was still waiting for the elevator even though there was 3 in service.
Loved the view from the 38th floor !
Prepare to walk the stairs because you will be waiting for an elevator to take you to your floor.
Overall a good Hotel. The location is good, it’s in the financial district with many tourism sites within walking distance. Rooms are clean, would like more bathroom space for items but it’s not a huge deal. The major con is that the elevators are terrible. Sometimes you can wait 10 plus min. Overall it’s a 7/10.
Awesome stay
The front desk, Samantha, was absolutely delightful. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Fantastic restaurants within walking distance (and right downstairs on the ground level). Will be back, and recommend to everyone.
The room was nice and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Definitely will be back.
Staff was very nice. Room clean. Quiet area.
They treated me very well on my birthday!
Rude staff and staff using elevators with cleaning supplies along with hotel guests. Elevators slow. Dining was confusing staff could not explain where it was?
good price for a place to stay in NYC
Great location for accessing lower Manhattan, Wall Street, and historic Stone Street neighborhood. Lots of good subway stops all within a few blocks. Elevators are slow so beware if you're staying on an upper floor.
The DoubleTree in lower Manhattan was absolutely the best destination for our New York Vacation. Our room was modern and rent clean, comfortable bed with a window view. The hotel amenities are a big plus, thank you. The biggest plus for my wife and I was the Staff! Everyone was really helpful, friendly and courteous. Check-in experience was a delight specially after a delayed and rough flight. The check-in agent was very empathetic and courteous! Also, because it was such Late check-in, I called in advance to let the hotel know we'll barely make our reservation deadline. Thank you for everything DoubleTree.
They’re good in hospitality
Stayed here for two nights to attend an event across the bridge. Apparently a newly hired housekeeper removed a bag containing my shoes to the event. When I noticed, I called the front desk for assistance and was told to go buy another pair of shoes and submit the receipt for reimbursement. This is unacceptable for so many reasons. However, after pushing the issue, my shoes were located and returned. I was late for the event, but made it nevertheless. I was told that the bag was removed because it was mistaken as trash and the shoes were placed in a locker where items that guests leave behind are housed. I had not checked out! Watch your belongings carefully.
The bed and pillows were uncomfortable
very nice
Elevator wait times were extensive. Staff was amazing and helpful!
The room was small but very clean, the elevator may take a while to come
Nice!
Check in faster. Great service. Centric place.
Convenient location and affordable
Hotel was nice. But, 2 elevators for a 44 level building is insanity and both elevators are usually crowded because the wait is about 15-20 mins
It was a one night stay and nothing worth reporting given the limited contact. Please note check out is at 11am. At 11am sharp, i got a knock on my door basically saying I had to leave or pay a penalty. I called reception to see if i could negotiate 30 minutes and was told if I didn't check out within the next 15 mins or so, the system will automatically bill me extra charges! No room for even negotiating or talking about it! It's the first time in many years of travelling and staying at hotels that I get this!
This was an overnight stay. Room was small but for the price and purpose it was fine. Clean and in a nice safe location of financial district . Walking distance from the raging bull and NY stock exchange building . Many restaurants in the area.
Ok
Everything good
Nice
Great location in the financial district. Easy walk to many attractions.
.
Very affordable and clean!
Excellent choice for a trip to NYC for two. The hotel is spotlessly clean, the rooms are actually larger than most city hotel rooms, and it was very quiet and peaceful. We had no issues waiting on an elevator as others have mentioned, and the rooms were made up daily. This hotel is also easy walking distance, and I mean a couple blocks max, to multiple subway lines to wherever you might want throughout NYC, and to the SI Ferry. Since it’s in the financial district, it’s peaceful at night. We will return.
The rooms location and quality was exceptional. I will definitely be coming here again!!! Thank you guys and the Cookies are AMAMZING! Thank you Expedia also for turning a situation into an amazing night at the Hilton DoubleTree !!!
Unexpected Pleasure
The room was great and the hotel fabulous!! Loved the personal touches like having my name on the TV screen welcoming me. Extremely clean! And comfortable. Everyone was helpful and friendly. The only problems we had, and they were minor, were with the restaurant which I understand is privately owned and not run by the hotel.
Peaceful accommodation
Clean
It was supposed to be king size bed and breakfast included, as it’s in the marketing description, none of them was available and a guest had to sleep on the floor!
