Enjoyed the hotel and our stay, but room had unpleasant odor ( may have been from previous guest vaping). It was also loud with motorcycle driving guests parking under the rooms. Location was excellent and very walkable to all activities in town.
Very comfortable and convenient.
Fantastic location and a nice room with a comfortable bed and a fantastic view.
I had been in a car accident, totalled the car, and Ash, the manager was fantastic. She organized ways for me to get from one place to another, made a plane reservation for me, even loaded my stuff in her car to get me to my next lodging. Over the top service.
Great experience with two days stay.
This property was well located but I don't think it is worth how much we paid! The rooms are in need of an upgrade and the property is a bit run down. The staff, particularly Ella, was friendly and accommodating. It would be fine if we were paying $100-150 a night but this place was definitely not worth $250!!
Clean rooms, friendly host.
A nice stay in Fox Glacier
Great stay. Quiet. Great team. The only negative was no AC and we had to keep the windows open all night subjecting ourselves to the gnats.
A pleasant place to stay and host is very friendly & helpful.
Was as expected. No wow factor but a comfortable and clean place to rest for the night.
I hadn't realised breakfast was included that was a bonus. It was older building and very quiet - we think no one else stayed the night in the whole place.
Nice room, shame about the food.
Nice room but hotel feels like it’s being run on a shoestring. Although advertising a restaurant when we arrived and tried to book we were told it was not available to us as they had a coach party staying who were using the restaurant. Not much left for breakfast after the coach party had been in so if you’re planning on staying here, eat elsewhere!
Ok
Rooms are more dated than the pictures. Decent sized room.
Perfect Stop Over
Friendly staff, nicely appointed room and delicious full breakfast
This property has a very fresh look compared to the hostels around. The staff was very friendly and approachable. The breakfast is a must if you’re planning a stay.
One night only, not too much to say
Loved this place.
Traving New Zealand for a month I’ve stayed in posh and cheap places, this was by far my favorite, the rooms were very clean and cozy. The stalff was excellent, nice and helpful and the breakfast was great, can’t recommend this place enough.
Lovely accommodation. Modern rooms and very comfortable.
Lovely place to stay in Fox Glacier
This hotel is in a great location, within walking distance to good cafes and bars. The room was lovely, although on level 1 there was no view - in fact we overlooked another building and the car park which was disappointing. If we stayed here again we would definitely request a room on Level 2. The breakfast (included) was excellent and the lady serving it delightful and friendly. Definitely the best place to stay in Fox Glacier.
Lovely spacious rooms but unfortunately eaten alive by mozzies and without the windows open it was too warm. Maybe flyscreens could be introduced on one window.
Staff were very friendly and polite. Definitely would come back again. Thanks
Staff welcome and assistance made our stay more enjoyable. Breakfast included a good variety. Rooms were comfortable.
Fox Glacier
Great front desk service. Felt like family. Thank you
Luxurious large rooms & a super comfy bed!
Great activities to do in Fox - take a trip there - its a hidden gem
The rooms and public areas were spotlessly clean. The rooms were spacious and cherry comfortable. Nothing not to like.
Excellent well located accommodation
Excellent well located accommodation. Very clean and comfortable bed. Nicely furnished and warm. Good bathroom with bath and separate shower. Excellent breakfast.
Tidy complex, nice rooms. Bath did need a scrub but we only used the shower. Breakfast was good value and would stay again.
The room was spacious room clean. But bath had soap scum all around it husband had to clean it first. No real veiw from 106 except a bad state of repair roof below of the property. Do not get room 106 extreme noisy with stairwell nextdoor and kids running up and down continuously. Elephants above. Not a place for rest and peace. Lounge room very nice. Breakfast was good.
Peaceful
We had a lovely, peaceful stay. Our room had a nice view and the staff were excellent and very friendly.
Great place to stay. Few minutes walk to the town and close to lake Matheson. Clean and tidy. Very informative staff who told us all about what to see around the area
A comfortable hotel in a great location with great service. Slightly dated and would benefit from an upgrade.
1 night stay
Brilliant stay, the Manager was superb, would stay again next time we are through to Queenstown, great breakfast, nice large sized rooms with comfy bed
A wonderful hotel with large, well apointed room. The guy at receiption was very helpfully. He advised the best places to eat and local spots to visit. He was on reception at 6pm when we checked in and served breakfast at 8am. I could ask for a better place to stay to visit both glaciers.
Great bed, clean and well situated. Close to the few restaurants that were open.
Reception staff friendly and helpful. Rooms clean and warm and bed comfortable. Yummy breakfast and great service again. Best accommodation on our trip to date. Thank you
Keep driving..
Advertised as a boutique hotel. Overpriced. Tired decor. Staff friendly, room clean. Views from hotel rooms are car park or adjacent properties rather than mountains. Breakfast unappealing, s/eggs full of pepper, coffee grey & undrinkable, fruit past best.. Town itself is v small - few cafes & petrol station, tourism centers around trips to glacier. Nearest good restaurant/cafe/gift shop is 5 min drive near lake worth visit for walk in rainforest. Ate in town cafes - friendly service -awful food. Best avoided.
Great caretaker. He gave awesome recommendations and ensured out time in New Zealand
the staff was very helpful land the hotel was nice and clean. I would definitely stay there again.
Good location and immaculately maintained property
Friendly staff. The gentleman who checked me in gave great suggestions on where to go for good view of the glacier and where to hike. Breakfast was tasty also.
Service was excellent clean quite
Kristian was wonderful and arranged to have some of our belongings that we left behind sent to us.
Very clean Continental breakfast was very good The views were terrible from the first floor. We looked at the roof of the building next tomus
The cozy hotel in Fox glacier
Good location, private parking, rich breakfast.
A cosy stay. Everything is walking or short distance.
Nice clean hotel. Freddy was very helpful and gave us lots of useful information.
Good place to stay
Nice hotel right in the main town.
Beautiful hotel slightly let down by a noisy fridge. We turned it off so problem solved. Very friendly and helpful staff. Welcome drink or two a nice touch. A great breakfast too. Expensive but very comfortable and a nice place to be
It has a nice lounge and the breakfast is decent. The Wi-Fi is horrible and did not work properly at all. This is important considering the celluar service in the area is poor. There are few choices in this area unfortunately.
Nice modern hotel compared to others nearby
Rooms where well appointed and well heated. Information supplied on checkin was very detailed with plenty of local information and advice on where to go and what to look out for.
Luxury in little town!
The room was very luxurious and probably the most luxurious one within the vicinity. Christian, our then in-charge manager, was very hospitable and told us all we need to make our 2-day stay in Fox Glacier worthwhile. Breakfast was more than sufficient to last us through the Glacier Walk.
Hotel was great. Staff were helpful. Had a lovely breakfast. Room was looking to the back looking on to old house was the only thing that disappointed. Overall I would recommend to all that are staying in the area.
The room was comfortable and the bathroom was nice. However, their advertisement about free WiFi is bogus. Yes, technically they have WiFi because they give you instructions to log in, but it is pointless because one cannot connect to the WiFi as it states "Internet is not available." I mentioned this to one of the staff who acknowledged they have been aware of this for a while, but management hasn't done anything about it. As someone who doesn't have an international calling plan, I rely on WiFi to stay in touch with my family and therefore book my stay with places that offer it.
Friendly and helpful staff at front office
Room is massive and shower pressure is great. Really enjoyed my stay there.
Fox Glacier hotel
Very nice, clean and friendly hotel. Breakfasts were lovely and staff helpful with suggestions of things to do.
Comfortable room but unhappy experience
The room is nice and clean. And the room has a set of sound equipment. But we didn't have a nice sleep. The phone in the room rang at 7.30a.m. however we didn't ask for morning call. Then, someone (seems like staff in the hotel) opened our door by using the key while we were sleeping!!!
Nice, comfortable hotel close to everything
A nice comfortable hotel, close to everything Fox Glacier has to offer. Very friendly staff. A very yummy breakfast is also provided.
Convenient to many beautiful sites
This hotel has the best water pressure in the hemisphere. If you are tired of pathetic showers this is the place for you. Oh and the hotel is convenient to the Fox Glacier and Lake Mathewson, two wonderful attractions.
Gorgeous area!
After traveling most of the day, we arrived to a very helpful host, who checked us in quickly & pointed out some wonderful places to see in the area. They were! Very nice staff.
Comfortable stay in a great location!
We loved our stay here. It is in a great location, convenient to everything in the Fox Galcier area. It is walking distance to the main town restaurants and shops. The staff was helpful and made sure we made the most of our stay.
A Friendly Hotel
Our initial contact with the Reception staff was very friendly and helpful. This attitude was maintained by all staff during our 4 night stay. The restaurant staff were particularly flexible when we required an early morning start. The room was very fresh, clean and comfortable with doors onto a small balcony. The hotel was very close to all the Fox Glacier amenities. Possibly a bit pricey and the restaurant was only open for breakfasts. Nontheless, we would recommend a stay there.
Average motel style accommodation
Check in was good and quick, Freddie was extremely helpful and charming and entertained us during the complimentary drinks. However our room was not serviced during our two-night stay, a sink and T towel was provided but no other equipment with which to wash up glasses, mugs etc which begs the question - why have the sink and T towel? The room had no safe and it is not clear what other security facilities were available. The accommodation is dated and the furnishings, towels etc are not particularly luxurious, given the price of a two-night stay. Breakfast buffet was not replenished adequately; on the second morning almost all the fruit was gone and all the yogurt had gone by the time we arrived 30 minutes before end of service. Replenishments arrived about 15 minutes later. We even had to ask for butter on the second morning.
Helpful staff
Motel type accommodation with a friendly and extremely helpful gentleman at desk who helped us a great deal with advice about the general area as well as booking of tours and meals.
Over priced
Over priced Terrible bedding Poor breakfast No style Very good young man at reception
Lovely place
Clean 20 room delight. Nice lounge down the hall to gather. Lovely views. Very helpful staff.
Awesome place to stay
It was a lovely place to stay very comfortable with great service xxx
A comfortable hotel with excellent hospitality
Our stay at this hotel was excellent overall. Our room was clean, spacious and cosy with great facilities including a small balcony and a bath in the bathroom. Check-in and parking were very easy and the included breakfast was fantastic with a good variety of options including hot eggs, bacon and mushrooms which were cooked perfectly. In particular, Christian was very welcoming, professional and helpful. He went the extra mile to make our stay a pleasant one and helped out when we needed some extra assistance. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Fox and Franz Josef glaciers.
Great hotel
Lovely spacious sunny room. Excellent heating (vital in mid winter). Fabulous breakfast. Great shower and bathroom. Faultless hotel!
Upmarket hotel Near the centre of Town
The Hotel is a bit more expensive than most. But is is CLose to the Centre of Town. Large Bathroom. Large Living area. Free Washing Machines and Dryer.
great stay!
Between the picturesque location, the comfortable accomodations and the warm, outgoing staff, this hotel is a winner!
It provided 1G wifi, but with very bad connectivity. It came in and out and with very slow speed, not stable enough to upload photos to Facebook. I booked the room for three occupants, they put 1 queen and 1 single beds in a very small room, with very little space for our languages, let alone space to move around. Have public washing and drying machine, but they were charged.
Great choice in the better of the two towns
With a limited choice of full service hotels to choose in Fox or Franz Josef, we're really glad we opted for Distinction Fox Glacier. Our room was spacious with comfortable bed, raised area for large suitcase, wet bar with coffee maker, refrigerator, large bathroom with tub and shower, and modern flat panel TV. Super friendly check in by Freddy, who gave us great advice for sunset view and dining, brought ice to our room, and served us complimentary 6:30p wine/beer in the relaxing view reading/game fireplace lounge -- a hard worker! We also enjoyed the included hot cooked breakfast, also with friendly international staff. We also thought Fox Glacier was the prettier and more relaxing of the two glacier towns. Lake Matheson just outside the town is very pretty, you need to head down that road to get a view of the glacier anyway.
Excellent
Comfortable, clean and friendly staff. Would recommend.
Fox Glacier distinction
Helpful and friendly staff

A little dated facilities. Breakfast very ordinary standard, acceptable, but overblown in other reviews. No atmosphere in the breakfast room. No evening meal opportunity in the hotel, despite description saying there were.
