Ok place. Big disappointment was no free wifi and an expensive shuttle unlike every other property.
We loved it. Beginning of September was a really good time to visit Denali.
Rooms could us some hooks for coats Food trucks were not great
A fair distance outside of the park with no facilities nearby. A few food trucks were out front. No fridge or microwave in room. No phone service with our carrier however the property offers a once only 30 min free connection then very expensive fees there after. The onsite property has very limited supplies and very little alcohol. We had nice river views.
10 min drive from the park entrance. Has some food trucks at the front for quick brunch. River on the back of the cabins provides a very idyllic setting.
Beautiful scenery. We has no issues with phone service or Internet. Close to the park. Would definitely stay here again.
Dirty tap water, dirty old towels, need new towels, over charge for shuttle service to train station
Great location to visit the Denali National Park.
Room overlooking river was wonderful But was also next to laundry so best for staff to not do laundry after 8pm 6 miles from park road nice
Poor value for the money
Was a very nice place. Comfortable room with a closeness to nature. Very quite surroundings.
Wonderful location. Great place to stay close to the national park. There are food trucks to provide eating options.
Well taken care of
Was a nice property
Such a cool Property!
rooms were on the 2nd floor. overlooked the Nenana River which was just Awesome. they have 2 food trucks to order food from. there is another hotel set up across the road that you can order food from. this hotel is very close to Denali National Park entrance.
Beautiful river view
Really enjoyed the location and the room was clean and nice. We were close to Denali and there was a bigger resort to check out and eat at across the street as well as a small town just miles away.
Easy check in and nice to know manager was available on site for emergencies. Parking lot had multiple food trucks for convenience and dining options. Room was clean with clear views of the water, would definitely recommend for shorter Denali trips.
Quite a lot of propane smell when we walked outside around the area we stayed. Also trash on grounds around facility.
Was a nice place to stay overall. My main complaint was that to use WiFi each person had to pay $35 for 2 days. For my family of 5, that totaled $175 and sometimes it didn’t even work. Our cell service wasn’t good so WiFi was necessary to make calls & text as we were staying in 2 different rooms.
Need to wash bed spreads as both had visible dirt
Nice!
We stayed for one night. Our room had a balcony overlooking the river. It would have been nice to stay more days but our schedule was tight.
It was a lovely property and close to the park. There are multiple food trucks in the facility that are very easy and yummy. Know that WiFi is expensive and service is minimal, but other than that, a lovely and rustic place!
NA
Been coming here with my wife every year for the past four years, we absolutely love it as a quiet getaway in the mountains.
Very nice place to stay in Denali.
Room had stink of sewer
Lake side room was good. Amenities are super basic, and so are the room conditions.
Great view of the river
The "Griz" is located across the road from a departure point for most tours and activities. The rooms in the hotel section have a view of the river and it's quiet!
This was our most expensive stay during our whole trip in Alaska but our least favorite. The location was great as it was close to Denali national park. There was also nice trails nearby and we even got to see a moose on one of the trails. The rooms were clean but no fridge or microwave. There was a microwave in the store that we could use but not until 9 am. Also, wifi was only included for the first 30 minutes and then you would have to pay for longer. Also the shower would get cold pretty quickly.
Great view of trees along a creek. Good clean ADA accessible room, but beds needed more pillows and blankets. Limited food trucks are on site (Jamaican and Thai). You can drive 6 miles for more food options. All in all, seeing Denali National Park, was worth any other inconvenience.
Clean, comfortable, competitive price
Room was very clean and comfortable. Price $300 for two beds, much less than resort across the highway. Fills up depending on cruise bookings.
The rv dump station was across from our building and stunk, but we had to keep our window open, because there was no air conditioning and it was hot inside the room. There was no fan to cool things down either. The wifi is charged $20 per day per device, which is outrageous. We much preferred the White Moose Lodge a few miles away for comfort and conveniences (and free wifi).
Rooms are good and location is scenic . But away from dine in options. No free WiFi ( more than 30 mins everyday ) , which we encountered first time compare to many hotels and resorts . Cleaning service is only when ask for it. Everyday I have I ask for supplies for making coffee . On site dining options of Thia and Spanish food truck were Ok
For the price, no amenities. Small beds. We were led to believe I booked a room with the balcony over the river and instead was provided a room overlooking the parking lot. Less than friendly ladies in the check-in office. I wish we had stayed across the street; we went there to hang out, dine.
Great room with river facing. Very limited amenities but good enough for a cabin like room. Nice Thai food in the premise. Overall a great stay here.
Big negative is that they don’t provide free Wi-Fi service even after charging so much money per day. We had yo buy it for 20 dollars per phone per day which is very absurd unlike other hotels near by. I will go for other properties near Denali visitor center.
Convenient
The property is beautiful. There is a deck off the room to enjoy the view and there are hiking paths within walking distance to the hotel.
This a family owned Resort. We liked to comfortable rooms.
Good Option Right Outside Denali
We wanted a place close to Denali...and this location TOTALLY is close. Look at the attached photo and you'll see the National Park sign on the road just past the hotel. We arrived late and found our room info that was left out for us - no problems finding the room or checking in. We were disappointed that wifi wasn't included- but we also found that we had sporadic data service. So don't plan on service, but you might be able to send/receive brief texts at random times. We also would have liked a refrigerator in the room. We went into the park and it would have been really helpful to have been able to have some refrigerated items to stock up our backpacks. There's a train that passes by early in the morning (for us, it was around 6am) and when they blow their horn...well...it's a bit of a shock. BUT...that was also because we slept with the door open/screen closed to hear the rushing river just outside. It was a fair trade. The place was clean, had good beds and all bathroom needs provided.
This place was fantastic. Conveniently located to the National Park, and close enough to restaurants and shopping without being in the middle of things. Lovely view of the river and woods, with rooms that were clean and cute. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We had an excellent stay and would recommend it to anyone!
The room was clean and spacious enough for 3 people. My husband loved how the balcony faced the beautiful river and mountains. Every so often, the train would go by, which we got a kick out of. The location is very close to the NP Bus Depot and Visitor Center. The only down side was there was not a lot of amenities on the property. There was a Thai and a Mexican food truck. We tried the Thai one night and it was good. For a good cup of coffee, the Denali NP Bus Depot is about a 10-15 minute drive away. They open at 5:30 am and have Starbucks. It's quite light most of the day so getting up at 5 or 6 is easy. It was in the 80s when we were there and quite warm in the room. I heard this high of a temperature is atypical. Not sure if the front desk had fans or not.
close drive to national park. no cell service, internet for one device for 2 days $35. nature was beautiful
Great views from the balcony. So much to do that was walkable. Stayed 2 days, but couldnha e easily been there 3. The food trucks were wonderful!!
This property had a lovely location. Our balcony looked right out over the Nanana River and had a great view of the mountains. There was a great restaurant across the street and another hotel. The grizzly had several food trucks none of which we tried. Our only complaint was the fact that there was no one on call from about nine at night to 10 in the morning. We had an absolutely insane neighbor who was screaming and banging on the doors and there was no help to be had. But the location was great. The rooms were very clean. The staff were very friendly. It would be nice if there was a refrigerator . But they did have an ice machine.
The staff was so helpful. The rooms are nice and clean. There are a couple of food trailers on site so it was easy to get lunch and dinner.
Great view from our balcony! Quiet area, and comfy beds.
Nicely appointed chalet style units with a view. Dining options were limited to two food trucks that provided tasty and plentiful options. Transportation to the park and train depot is expensive unless you have a car.
We enjoyed our 2 night stay here, the Thai food truck was a treat. The only thing we didn't like was the distance we had to go to get a bucket of ice. Since we are Srs and can't walk long distances, we had to drive to the site of the ice machine.
Location is about all this lodging has going for it. There are no onsite dining facilities except for a Thai and a Mex food truck. We stayed in a relatively large room with a Nenana River view. It was quiet anbd we enjoyed the small patio but could only use it in the morning and late evening since sun exposure was a problem. The sun also made the non AC’d room unbearably hot. Also be prepared for the sound of train horns blaring several times through the day and night. The room we had suffered from severe plumbing problems: a lavatory faucet which could not control the water temperature, a toilet that leaked from its base, and a shower control that leaked between the shower head and tub faucet. There types of problems should have been reported by housekeeping and corrected by management before occupancy of the room. Because the property could not offer us a comparable room to substitute, we had to live with these problems for our three night stay. Several of the towels provided were stained, we did not want to use them. Because of the lack of on property dining, it would have been helpful to have a small fridge and microwave in the room. One should come prepared to manage without. With more attention this property could easily overcome our poor experience and rating.
First night we checked in, we found the following issues: 1. Someone was working all night at the property and making constant noise. We couldn’t get sleep at all. When I mentioned this to the front desk, they said it was plumbing noise. However, it didn’t sound like plumbing noise and they lied. There was construction going on next to our room and I found out about that the next day myself. 2. Dirty towels. I told the staff about dirty and wet towels. Stay away from this place just for this reason. 3. Bathroom doors don’t close. If you open the front door, it automatically opens the bathroom door due to air pressure. 4. All the furniture was extremely low profile and almost close to the ground. 5. The bedding looked like it was from Cold War era. Please update the furniture and bedding. 6. Stinking bathrooms. I changed rooms due to sound in one building. Bathroom was stinking in first building and it was equally bad in the second building as well. The staff was nice and accommodating and the scenery around the lodge was excellent. If the above concerns are addressed, the guests will have a pleasant experience. Until the above concerns are addressed, i would say my overall experience was terrible. I will not book or recommend this place.
Nice location on the river. Spacious room. Convenient location near Denali Park.
I liked the rustic look, internet worked on my phone, Hot shower, coffee maker & comfortable bed.
Nice size, clean room with a great view of the river. Good location close to the Denali entrance.
Clean with beautiful views.
The rooms were clean and had balconies with a wonderful view of the river. The check in was quick and easy. All the staff were kind, and it’s a convenient stay for Denali National Park. Some downsides were fees for missing key cards, declining laundry facility, and some older bed spreads in the rooms.
The Grizzly was a great stay, quiet, on the Nenana River and food and store on site.
Great location
Beautiful views and close to National park and train station.
Rooma arebpretty basic. No a/c or fridge, but theyll do. It's worth it to spring for a river view room. The balconies are great!
Very close to the park’s entrance and Denali food/ shops. Right by the highway but no noise. There are two food trucks on the property- one serves Thai food and the other Mexican. They are open until 10 pm. The room is very clean, so are the sheets/towels/ bathroom. Our balcony faced Nenana river. The sound of the flowing river was very soothing.
Yes
No cellular coverage. Wifi service is fee based. Need payment for each device. Extra cost on web access.
Great rooms overlooking the Nenana River! Very quiet with fairly easy access to Denali National Park. Limited dining options about 15-20 minute drive away. Not many amenities at the resort and limited food items in the gift shop.
Serene and convenient location. Staff and service were mediocre. There was a complimentary 30 min WiFi provided for our 2 nights stay.
We stay in the Cedar Hotel on the 2nd floor, and it was a nice clean room with a very good view of the river from the deck. There were no amenities in the room like no Air Condition, no ceiling fan or fan, no Refrigerator, No Television the room was very warm and stuffy when we arrived in June needed a fan to move the air. The bureau looked like it had 4 draws but only the top 2 can be used the bottom 2 were fake. The bldg. did have an ice maker. The only food on the property was food trucks that open at a certain time, but the food was good. If you wanted to eat at a restaurant you could go across the street to the resort and eat here.
we booked two room, waterpipe under one bath sink is leaking, we went to the office, and they promise to replace the whole system, bit nobody show up for two days. The price is expensive, and the facility is old, some of the calking in the bath tub is broken. I don't recommend this Hotel.
Nice place
Very rustic but cozy property. Nice because we had water and power during the Denali - Riley fire 2024. 😊 Only downside is no on site restaurant, only 2 food trucks. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay there again.
The Denali Grizzly Bear Resort is a combination hotel, RV Park and cabin rental close to the Denali National Park. The rooms are basic but clean and functional. We gad a view of the river which was amazing! There are 2 food trucks on-site and a camp store. Basic but good. The staff was very helpful and I would recommend the Grizzly over staying on the other side of the park (known as Glitter Gulch).
Great Place to Stay!
The views are amazing and staff was incredibly helpful. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. The Thai food truck was delicious and general store had a good selection.

Beautiful and relaxing. Staff very accommodating.
The property was very comfortable.
excellent property by the river side ..
Good property
Room are clean and spacious. There are couple of onsite food truck options that were good. However, compared to other lounge/resort nearby, this facility lacks entertainment and other food options. Overall, good enough to stay if that is the primary requirement
Amazing view from patio. Rooms nice and clean. Only negative was no free WiFi or cable channels
Beautiful location and nice cabin.
First of all, you need to adjust your expectations when visiting Alaska, especially Denali. It's a unique and wild place where people do business in harsh conditions. Denali Grizzly Bear Resort reflects this well. The staff does their best, and although the resort looks a bit old-fashioned, it's clean, the rooms have all amenities working, and they're well-heated. One downside is that WiFi costs $20 a day and is slow and unstable. Normally, this wouldn't be acceptable, but given the remote location, it's understandable that this is the best they can offer.
Beautiful and comfortable
The room was good. Nice and clean, the balcony was awesome. We loved being next to the river. Quiet, but able to listen to the birds, and other animals in nature.
We enjoyed our room facing the river, mountain and railroad tracks. Very peaceful!!
Great lodge-like stay outside Denali NP! We enjoyed our stay!
The wi-fi was too weak to be useful.
good
Balcony opens to the rushing river. Beautiful property. Helpful staff.
The view from the room right on the river is Beautiful!
NO HOT WATER!
The front desk was friendly and the location convenient to Denali National Park. Our balcony overlooked the river. BUT there was no hot water for our entire stay - finally broke down and took the coldest shower EVER! Also, the train goes by at 4:30 every morning and sounds its horn long and loud. That combined with the tour buses parked and idling directly outside our building for an hour loading passengers, and the neighboring room of people who barked and howled half the night (literally) made it hard to get any rest. I don’t like to leave negative reviews and would have addressed these issues but the office has limited hours (we left at 10 a.m. and it was closed).
The property was very nice. Area was stunning. Internet options were pricey as well as the laundry facility. At check in the gal talked very fast and was hard to understand. She said we had instruction in our room for everything but there was nothing. Had to go back several time to to speak with her. Otherwise, it was a beautiful place. Hope to be back soon.
Clean rustic looking property. This is last night for the season. Check in was easy, they left a map and keys on the bulletin board by office! Friendly guy explained when I called ahead and it was as he said!
Clean, Quite, and easy parking. Could use some more lighting though.
best hotel/resort/lodge I've ever stayed at in my entire life. PERIOD. #1. I had THE best stay ever of my life at a hotel... EVER. Best view. Ammenities were awesome, shower was amazing! VIEW, VIEW, THE VIEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All I can say. WOW.
Rooms not too large. Not much bang for the buck.
Should offer free WiFi
Great staff, great location, great views of the river and mountains.
Internet not included, no dining except Thai food truck. Grounds are nice to walk around, river view from room is nice.
Charming, Nenana River oasis
Location and river view was phenomenal. I was expecting a few (minor) amenities, especially for the price tag , such as a refrigerator or even a small table. The hotel beds are very comfortable and they provided soaps and towels and a micro coffee maker. I would stay again but bring a cooler for items you want to keep while you’re out all day. The front desk staff were the nicest people and helpful in so many ways

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lodge during our trip to Denali National Park. We had a riverside room and the view from our balcony was incredible. The room was very clean, comfortable and just a very short drive to the park entrance. On the downside, the room did not have a refrigerator or microwave. The wi-fi is free for 30 minutes but after that you have to pay an additional charge and we had virtually no cell service with Verizon. This was not a problem for us since our purpose was to enjoy the outdoors and visit Denali. We would absolutely stay there again.
