Fantastic all round

We had a fantastic stay here, service 1st class all round, food excellent (we were half board), free afternoon cakes were absolutely delicious, sauna suite brilliant. Our waiter Hr Ferenc was amazing. Maybe issue guest card on arrival without having to ask for it would be good. The free local buses and train were excellent for getting to and from our walks which were thoroughly enjoyable. All in all a wonderful weeks break, thank you.

Excellent hotel with great facilities. Lots to keep the kids entertained. Staff were all very friendly. Food in the restaurant was excellent with lots of choice. Would definitely return.

Fun in the alps

I didn't realize this was a family hotel until we got there. It was amazing. Pool on the roof, slides, bar, hot tubs, cool off pools. AMAZING view of the alps during the day. Downstairs they have a game room for kids and pool tables. And the staff was excellent. Couple of restaurants in the building. The restaurants were good, staff was friendly and the food was good. Live music was ok guy singing was terrible.

Good budget option for staying in the centre of Seefeld.

Trouble-free stay

Spectacular surroundings, unusual car lift to access car park. Some attractions (eg Stubai Glacier) access closed for ski season prep. Small supermarket close by. Confortable drinks lounge. No probs checking in or out.

This property was perfect and a great value. Highly recommend!

One stop for everything. They have pools and hot tubs. Saunas and massage rooms. They even have childcare facilities and daycare. On arrival we were greeted with a drink and warm welcome. On departure, we were given a tube of specialty salt from the area. Super happy about the place.

We really enjoyed our stay at Das Kaltschmid. The staff were very helpful and enthusiastic. The Seefeld area is scenic with lots going on. The breakfast at the hotel was the best we have had in our European trip thus far. The choices were plentiful and the food was very tasty. They even had an egg bar, where you could order eggs or omelettes to your preference. The place had a lot of character.

Beautiful view. The hotel offers so much to do. The food at the restaurant and breakfast were excellent.

Location of hotel just perfect near buzzing centre, shops and public transport. Staff were wonderful pleasent and chatty. Food options in restaurants delicious and served late into evening. Breakfast area extremely busy as hotel full.. We opted to avail of supermarket next door for that meal. Real family hotel with lots of children.. All catered for efficiently. Think half/full board were catered for in upstairs dining area.. We opted for the hotels restaurants instead. Clean room daily cleaner fresh towels etc. Parking underground with lift to take car down. Overall lovely stay. Particular mention to bar staff who provided St Laurent in lounge area.

Disappointing - pool opening times

We picked this hotel specifically for the indoor/outdoor pool. When arriving at 7:30 pm we were informed that the pool closes at 8 pm. No exceptions. I had half of my relatives disappointed. If we would have known this, we would have picked a different hotel or arrived earlier.

Convenient

Very convenient to town center, train station, and cable car.

The food selection was fantastic. The beds comfortable. The room itself a little tired, though the bathroom very clean. The corridors sometimes smelled of tobacco smoke as the doors too the hotel address always open and there's ashtrays next to every door encouraging people to smoke there. That's my only complaint.

Everything was fine..huge hotel..Swimmers pool super busy. Free bathrobes a nice touch. Different Restaurants that you can eat at and charge to room is a great idea. Our meal at the Alt Seefeld was outstanding.

Excellent hotel with indoor swimming pool, steam room, and jacuzzi. Breakfast with a huge selection and quality. The staff was very helpful and kind.

The hotel is perfect. There are restaurants open till 22:00-23:00, the pools are nice, there is a great gym, and the hotel is in great location in the center of Seefeld.

Very friendly staff made us feel welcome. Half-board included free house wine, beer, mineral water, afternoon kuchen and ice cream, good breakfast and excellent supper. Pool area is great - rooftop hot tub and rest area plus sauna and steam room. Seefeld has tons to do. Very satisfied with Das Kaltschmid - good value and recommended.

Skiing weekend with friends.

In need of refurbishing to keep up with 4stars

Great location, clean room, reception staff very helpful (special thanks to Miclos who did his very best to meet all our requests). On downside:in need of refurbishing: bathroom, carpet, mattresses. Problematic Wi-Fi. Advertised as free parking and we have been charged € 48 for garage.

Great facilities but noisy

Great facilities and friendly staff but two restaurants play music till late in the night (1am) which can be disturbing for young kids.

This is a really great hotel with an excellent swimming pool and spa area in central seefeld. WiFi connection keeps dropping in room which is irritating these days. Otherwise very nice.

Wonderful hotel in the heart of Seefeld. Pool area is great after a day of skiing. It was busy whilst we were there because of the cross country skiing championship but the staff managed well. Really enjoyed our stay.

I love Seefeld

A short break in a nice hotel and some Skiing with friends.

Looked after us straight from check in. We have a 8 person (2 bedroom) apartment and for a family of 5 it was ideal. Especially with all the skiing gear. We went half board which included selected drinks with the meal (soft drinks, beer, house wine (very drinkable). Food was excellent. Would recommend and will return

Great for a family stay/vacation. The restaurant in the hotel seemed to have the best prices versus other restaurants in the area. The bar was nice and the 2 stores near by are great places to pick up souvenirs or grocery snacks. Would stay here again.

nice stay

Decent hotel, wr stayed in the old wing which could use an update. Way finding from desk to room was also a challenge. Nice pool and sauna area. Great location.

Great hotel not great room

The hotel is in a great location.just in the entrence to the pedestrian aria.it is great for familys with children.our room was with skylights windows so light came very early and bathroom was so short that we could not take a shower standing.very inconvinient!!

Amazing location

I had good time, but I was told that parking was included and will be held for me which was not the case. I had to look for it or go to there parking which was 15 minutes of walking distance from the hotel. Overall nich location and clean hotel

Central location

Central location, nice pool/sauna area, good food, stuffed!

Staff was very friendly. The Wi-Fi was terrible. It only last for 3 hours at a time, and usually it stopped several times during a 3 hour period. The shower only has a small glass so, the bathroom gets all wet when taking a shower, and you have to stand on top of the drain, which hurts your feet. Everything was clean.

Perfect for me.

I had a fantastic stay at Das Kaltschmid during the third week in March. I got a great deal on the room, which was perfect for a single person. I needed a vacation and took a week alone in Seefeld for some late season XC skiing. The staff was fantastic and the restaurants were excellent. The hotel was perfectly situated in town, and the pool was a great bonus. Everything was pleasant and easy. I would definitely stay here again. I most likely will, and I look forward to it.

Another good stay.

This is a lovely hotel which we have been staying in each year since about 2000. Reception staff and Katrina in the lounge bar are very friendly & helpful. Our only disappointment was we asked via Hotels.com for our room not to be in the Furstenhouse part of the hotel, but this request wasn't passed onto the Hotel. The Furstenhiuse is particularly noisy late at night and from about 6.30 am.Being English we didn't bother to request a change which we should have done immediately. Also a lot of the rooms are aimed at families so some of the beds are small. Our party are all adults so the smaller bed was a bit of a sqeeze.On this occasion we decided to have B&B rather than half board in the dining room, as we wanted to eat elsewhere for a change.The other two restaurants in the hotel were fantastic. Food and service was10 out of 10.We'll no doubt be back next year.

Nice stay

We had a large family room, all mod cons but a sliding door between bedrooms would have been a bonus.. overall hotel is quite retro but in good condition. We did half board and enjoyed the food offered. Pool is excellent. Bit expensive but probably market rate.

Great Summer Getaway

Friendly and helpful staff. Food in dining room was very good. The spa area was fantastic for tired muscles at the end of the day. Lovely little village.

Character hotel

Lovely traditional style hotel with kind and attentive staff. Minor matter that although we were on the third floor, the night club echoed in the passageway between the adjacent Post Office making for some sleepless nights. Lack of air conditioning required windows and balcony door to be open making the nightclub noise more noticable. Air con in summer heat is really necessary please. Overall we had a good time and enjoyed another visit to Seefeld. Thanks Expedia and the Kaltschmid.

Spectacular views from balcony

Clean & pleasant hotel with only one drawback. Seperate toilet and bathroom, this made the toilet room very small and entry to the bath/shower difficult as you had to enter the bath from end as opposed to the side which is safer.

Tranquil and tasty.

The hotel offered complimentary wine as we entered. Then the pools, spa, whirlpool were clean and the views of the mountains exceptional. The restaurant was the best food we had in Europe. Good service. Clean room and nice laundry room too.

Hotel Kaltschmid

Excellent hotel in the centre of Seefeld. Room was very clean and the food in the hotel was very good and reasonably priced. Music provided in both restaurants and service excellent. Would definitely book again.

Everything you need

It's a large clean friendly family hotel with great food and friendly staff but the foyer and disco could do with a design overhaul. It has all the facilities you want from a family ski hotel. Large family rooms, its clean and with friendly helpful staff. The food is excellent and plentiful and the semi all inclusive works well for us. The foyer is sadly stuck in the 70s and the disco we swiftly passed...go in if you want a laugh.

Hideaway in Downtown Seefeld

The good: Hotel is centrally located, outstanding staff and incredible breakfast ( 20€) parking at front is free and parking lot (5 min walk) there is also an underground parking for 9€ a night but for vehicles that are not higher than 1,85m Free daycare included and plenty of bars and restaurants throughout for you to choose from without going outside. There is a big indoor pool, that I never used but heard great things about. Free storage for ski gear, live music on site daily. the Bad: decoration is out of date. Room furniture is broken and in need of repair. Bathroom has lots of water damage because there is no curtain and water goes everywhere.

Central hotel with spacious apartments

The hotel is very central (close to the Tourist Information Office) and has good facilities (swimming pool, two saunas etc.) The staff were efficient and polite, speaking very good English and the apartment was large (balcony, small dining area, very large attractive bedroom, small kitchenette in a cupboard and a very nicely appointed bathroom with bidet, bath and a really good shower). The hotel is in several buildings joined by a corridor bridge and so it took us almost 10 minutes to reach the front door from our room involving many staircases (or slow lifts) and long corridors. The ski store was not quite big enough for the number of skiing guests when we were there (early February). My few negative points are massively outweighed by the good points and we had a lovely stay there.

It was a great stay, the reception people were very helpful, a very family friendly hotel.

nice hotel close to the town center

We found this place at the last minute and stayed for a couple nights. it has a rustic charm and the room was spacious for 2 adults and 2 kids (and luggage!). Breakfast (very copious buffet breakfast) was included in the price. And you receive 10% of the restaurant bill if you ate at one of their restaurants. Upon check out, they give you a small jar of jelly. Sweet gesture. The hotel is located in town and gives access to lots of shops and restaurants. The free parking was a bit far (walking) from the hotel was maybe the only negative side.

Room I had was small for the price, but we didn't come for the room size. We came for the location. Though the room was non-smoking, I'm guessing it was adjacent to smoking rooms because we can smell smoke all up and down the hallways, which my family and I didn't not enjoy having to walk through.

Wonderful hotel. Was a welcome luxury in the country. Only negative was the dinner service. Was slow and only two waiters dunno g both resturants. The breakfast was awesome though. Highly recommend

Highly recommend

We spend 3 weeks traveling in Europe and this was easily our favorite hotel on the trip. The rooms were very classy and comfortable. The food at the restaurant was very good. Our young kids really enjoyed the pool. The location is also excellent, very pretty town with views of the surrounding mountains from the pool area. The staff was very helpful and the breakfast was very good, although quite expensive.

Very good all round hotel in centre of village

'apartment' room - very good and spacious, 3rd bed was main downside (just a sofa - ok but not the most comfortable). Option to cook, make tea/coffee, use plates etc very good for families. Everything else fine, breakfast very good, food options in restaurant good and not overpriced, staff friendly and helpful. Ski room a bit on the small side, so crowded, but to be honest these are minor quibbles. Pool and fitness facilities very good. Overall pretty good and decent value for the price. Location excellent.

Short stay

Our stay was a short - one night. We were very disappointed to find out that check in was not until 5PM and check out the next day was 10AM. Very expensive 17 hours. Be leary of rooms above the Buffalo Bar. You are "part of the loud party" all night whether you want to be or not. Saving grace was the 30 minutes we spent in the spa (closes at 8PM). Beautiful spa area.

Good hotel in great resort

Good hotel in great resort. Good facilities, good room well equipped. Very clean and well serviced. Restaurant bit cramped and staff training could be improved, but food good. Resort has everything needed for a great holiday.

Excellent hotel nestled in the Austrian alps.

This place is fantastic! We originally only booked 2 nights and then booked a 3rd night. The hotel has everything from pools and saunas to restaurants, bars and all entertainment. It was a great place for us to relax for a few days since we were travelling around. The location is perfect, in the centre of town and the food was amazing! We would stay here again.

Rip Off

Great place to stay. Parking is an issue. Hotels.com charged my card a $80.00 fee for getting me this room without my consent. RIPOFF! Great hotel but next time I will use Expedia.

Me and my family stayed for three nights. Great place and location. The employees are super friendly and helpful. I would stay there anytime again.

Nice hotel in the middle of Seefeld village. About a 5 minute walk from the train station. Nice room with fair amenities. Beware, the hotel has a pub on the first floor that is open and LOUD until 6 am on the weekends. You will not get much sleep if that is your goal. Village is nice. Best restaurant in town is the Braukeller right across the square from this hotel.

Enjoyable!!

Hotel was quite good. We reserved on a whim, while traveling without a particular agenda. Loved the village. The hotel room was quite interesting, and quirky fun. The European shower left a bit to be desired..... strong pressure, and way to small of shield to keep from getting the floor and counter wet. Breakfast was great! A bit to much of a smokey aroma in the hallways, but that's tough to avoid in europe.

The staff went out of their way to make us welcome. They even gave us a parting gift. The hotel was comfortable and ideal for our family of 5.

Not recommended.

Do not recommend. Hotel wants to be a party hotel and defends the hotel bar with outlandishly loud music and even when the hotel bar closes, it moves to the outside hotel restaurant deck to continue its partying. Police had to be called to shut the party down and hotel management just really did not/NOT care the next morning about the complaints.

Welcoming family. Exceptionally clean. Hotel has all the personal touches. Great location, beautiful area. Great breakfast.

Awesome views

Excellent hotel, brilliant facilities, location wonderful, pool is on top floor and has utterly stunning views, only downsides are that parking is a bit chaotic, and be careful if you're in one of the rooms in the new wing, as there is a nightclub underneath which runs till 4am and will keep you awake if you're with a family. We will definitely look to return.

Excellent old style Austrian hotel.

Two week stay in Seefeld. Old style hotel, large apartment, traditional decor with wood panelling and a ceramic stove in the living room (and a bunk bed above it which our 13 year old immediately bagged). Very friendly and helpful staff. Good pool in the top floor under the eaves with great mountain views.

Perfect stay!

I highly recommend this hotel. I stayed 3 nights and had very good service, great meals in the restaurant, and a very comfortable clean room. The location was perfect, a 3 minute walk from the train station

Nice hotel in mountains.

A beautiful hotel surrounded by mountain peaks. Has big, clean rooms(no conditioned air) with kitchenette, the free parking is about 2 1/2 blocks away and only about 6 slots in front(they were occupied). Hotel has a beautiful, clean pool and Jacuzzi at the upper level(you can see the mountains from there).

Decent but old hotel in center of village

Unseasonably warm weather pervaded the Alps while we were there. It was near 100 degrees which apparently they don't see which is why this 4 star hotel had no AC. We were checked into a room with full sun exposure so upon entering the room we were stifled by the heat and beating sun. I asked to be moved and they did for an extra 15 euro. Still no AC but at least into a room that had northern exposure. The entire facility smelled of cigarette smoke which didn't help with the stifling heat. The staff were pleasant and overall it was a good visit. I will look more carefully in the future regarding AC and also the age of the facility.

This hotel is central to Seefeld in Tirol.

Although this hotel was overall comfortable and clean it was also very basic within the rooms. Facilities - apart from the pool were limited, with only 1 English channel that was very hit and miss when watching... this was ok on nice days but on the three days it rained we were stuck for anything to do. All staff were pleasant and friendly. really glad we went for room only option as the restaurant (level 1) was expensive for what we ended up eating. Having no tea and coffee facilities within the room was annoying as we would of liked to have woken up and sit by the open window with a quiet cuppa, instead we had to get up, dressed and then out for breakfast and that all important first cuppa. we wouldn't of minded if we had been able to hire a kettle for the week. Checking out and paying the bill was a bit of a nightmare - the lack of transparency of the bill from expedia meant we were hit with a further 45 euros to pay.

Overall Not a 4 star hotel

We have just returned (June 2015) with friends from a week's stay. The hotel is centrally located next to everything. We have booked two economy double rooms and we were allocated rooms 420 and 421. The hotel was almost empty but besides this, we were allocated rooms without any view (front or back). Besides no frige, no bathrobes etc. Also the room & bathroom air-filtering was not functioning. Room 421 had a tiny low ceiling bathroom of abt. 2 X 2 meters and the bathtub was 1.20 meters long and 65 cm in height. We have arrived about 20 minutes before 23.00 at the hotel but we could not find any food to eat as everything was shuting down and we had to go to sleep hungry and thirsty. What an experience! We have tried their hotel restaurant which had a nice atmosphere and live music. The quality of their food and service was good. We have also booked for a Tyrolean night within the hotel and besides holding a written reservation we were unable to find our reservation since all the tables were reserved to outside the hotel groups. Free parking is about 600 meters away in an open air parking field otherwise you have to pay. The Wi-Fi had a strong signal which was good but remember the hotel was almost empty. We did not try the hotel Spa or the indoors pool because we were not in the mood after what happened to us with rooms and the Tyrolean night. Instead we have chosen to travel around and spent our time outside.

Traditional with excellent food

Room 408 deluxe with balcony. Once again had a great stay here. First time in a room, not a family suite, but plenty of space and balcony overlooking pedestrian area. Superb 5 course dinners with drinks ( not stingy ) and wide breakfast selection. Friendly English speaking staff. Hotel is always clean but in places a little drab as it has not changed much in the 6 years we have been going there.

Nice hotel central to resort

Hotel staff were excellent and always available. Room clean and comfortable. Noise can travel from attached restaraunt and bar to room albeit we were in bed every night early with 4yr old

Great Hotel in Austrian alps

Hotel was in a perfect location, quick and easy access to the nursery sking slopes and bus stop, bus ride was about 10 mins to the two other ski slopes. Hotel has a great swimming pool, which the kids loved. The sauna and external hot tub was great therapy after a days sking. The hotel food was excessionally good, buffets, fixed menus and friendly service. Highly recommended

Great hotel with central location

Arrived earlier than the preferred check in time however our room was ready and we where able to book in straight away. Room was very spacious and clean with good size balcony. We had our 6year old son with us and the room was more than adequate for us all. The location of the hotel was 10mins from the train station and 10mins from the slopes, very central. Plenty of shops and restaurants to choose from near by. We had chosen breakfast within our stay which was plentiful and very enjoyable. The leisure facilities where great, my son loved the pool which catered for everyone, adults and kids, the outside hot tub was a great extra as the views where fab.

Superb hotel but avoid room 389

Was a stunning hotel and service amazing but our room 389 faced directly onto another hotel window so we literally had no view! This was very disappointing.! Only other fact that below our room was an alley way and three out of four nights was bad sleep due to drunks shouting for a few hours. These two things ruined it but the food, staff, hotel facilities and location are amazing and I know if you have a different room then it would be the best stay ever x

Great friendly hotel with fantastic pool area, lovely rooms, central location and friendly staff. WiFi signal great. Room comfort 4 only because movie channel or pay per view would make it perfect. One small feedback- please don't vacuum hallways near rooms at 9am on Sunday morning!!!

Great hotel in a great location.

Never been to Austria before and friends that had stayed before recommended it. Evening meals were vast including upto 7 courses some nights. So there was always something for everyone. Ideally located and facilitaties were good even though I was there for a short stay the spa was good.

great family trip over Christmas

My family, including four small children, spent Christmas eve and day plus five more days in Seefeld. We found the staff accommodating and friendly. The pool and sauna was a real highlight. We didn't board so can't comment on the food but did have one a la carte dinner which was tasty and at a good price. Great hotel location. The apartment room layout was sensible. All in all highly recommended.
