It's a nice, affordable place to stay, and I will recommend it to others. I gave 4 stars for Property condition and facilities because there is a broken chair in the hall, and it seems the paint of the doors is quite old.

I had the most wonderful experience at the Dancing Bear Hostel. I stayed there for a night while I was evacuated due to fires. It was a very difficult situation for me. However, the accommodations were excellent. Most of all, Cindy at the front desk was absolutely incredible. She went above and beyond for me as I saw her doing for other customers as well. Cindy was friendly, professional and again, so incredibly helpful. She made my stay very comfortable and I would recommend the Dancing Bear, but most importantly, Cindy, very highly and I am looking forward to staying at this delightful establishment again soon.

Dancing Bear Hostel is one of our favorite places to stay! Nelson is one of my top favorite cities of all time <3 Can't wait to go back!

The rooms are small but clean and comfortable. Friendly atmosphere, staff and patrons. Great location. This is an excellent budget friendly place to stay in Nelson.

Only 4 parking behind building. I was lucky got last spot. I’m not sure is there additional parking? Overall friendly staff, clean shear spaces, I had nice stay.

Great spot close to everything in town. Clean and tidy facilities. Not very sound proof in the rooms but that’s to be expected with the age of the building.

Checks all the boxes for a hostel. Having built-in locks on the lockers and better wifi in all areas would make it better.

Staff Manager (Cindy i think) was helpful in giving me info about local stuff. Checking in the guy at the front counter was very helpful too

Great little hostel, right downtown. Good couple spots to hang out in hostel, very welcoming staff.

This place was good for the price. They charged me a fee when my flight was cancelled and I had to change my res with less than 24 hours notice. They still charged me for the night anyway and said it was because I didn't book through them directly. They also gave me a twin bed when I booked a full bed. Otherwise it was affordable, the bed was comfortable, and the place was clean and very central. I would suggest booking through them directly.

The gas ranges do not self ignite. I could not see any matches or lighter provided and with the desk closed I had a very miserable meal, not suited to microwave cooking.

The place is clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is great for walking to a restaurant or cafe.

The inn had lots of areas to sit and share, place super clean and guests respectful. Very friendly helpful staff. Close to shops and food. It has a common Bathroom, well kept and stairs if you have any issues in that area. i am an older lady but managed fine. Real wood all over, cedar possibly.

The suite has a lovely garden surrounded by a gate for privacy. Nice to sit out and enjoy the weather.

I honestly didn't look around the property but it is basically downtown. Close to everything you need.

Better than expected

We had a private suite and we could move in permanently. It was a well designed apartment. Beautiful floors, great bed, fully equipped kitchen. A private garden! Nice local soap in the bathroom. BBQ and super comfortable chairs outside. Compost container would be nice but this is a city decision, not just the hostel’s.

Excellent location however a bit hard to find as signage is hidden by trees. We had no info on parking location before arrival so had to pay for meter parking until the front desk opened. We would stay here again if travelling thru Nelson

Top-rate hostel in the heart of Nelson

Due to unforeseen delays, primarily road construction, my trip to Nelson from Calgary took way longer than expected. At some point I realized I was going to arrive at the Dancing Bear past evening cutoff, so I called ahead and told them of my plight. They said it was no problem and made accommodations to ensure I would have a bed ready for me, along with keys to the hostel's front door along with a room key. It was awesome service! The place was very quiet by the time I arrived. I slept extremely well and this is a place I'd stay again and again. Recommended!

This place was really great, quiet and super clean. It's also right in the middle of town so you can walk everywhere. I highly recommend.

The kitchen inside for all to use was great although people steal your food.

This is the CUTEST hostel we loved it so much. The location is 10/10 too, right on main road. It’s an old big house and they have a kitchen and everything to use. Rooms are quaint and lovely and tons of showers and bathrooms on each floor! Thank you!!!!

Great place!

Clean and close to town! We stayed in a spacious double room, and borrowed a board game for some evening fun.

Terrific staff, comfortable beds, two lovely private patios Including a barbecue, an amazing kitchen/diningroom, large, welcoming and yet cosy great room with space for smaller activities or group activities. All in a beautiful heritage building on the Main Street.
