A perfect choice
Fantastic location that permits an easy walk to the cliffs and to several restaurants, wonderful staff (especially Catarina), great breakfast, unique rooms, and tons of parking space.
The breakfast was amazing - so much variety and delicious. The staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive
We loved the fantastic breakfast included with our stay. The staff were amazing. We had to leave early the day of checkout before breakfast started so they prepared us lunches the night before to take with us. The rooms had a great layout with mini kitchenette. Would highly reccommend this hotel.
We LOVED this hotel. It was our favorite hotel of our entire 15 day trip! If I could give it an 11 on a 10 point scale - I would. It was true to its name and felt like a private village in Portugal. The staff was amazing and catered to our needs, the breakfast was a spectacular feast of handmade breakfast foods and Portuguese specialties. It was obvious that the hotel put a lot of care into the preparation. The room was lovely with a huge, very comfortable king bed plus a living room with a comfortable bed. The kitchen was fully stocked and the shower - wow! A great rainfall shower head. It was an easy walk to the beach and about 20 minute walk to town. We chose to drive to town but there was plenty of parking ( the hotel manager provided a parking map for us). And as a plus there are 2 lovely outdoor pools, an indoor heated pool and Turkish bath/Sauna. This hotel is a hidden gem - if you are considering visiting Lagos - book this hotel!! I give it my highest recommendation.
Very comfortable, clean, easy accommodations!
Beautifully landscaped property with large spacious rooms. Awesome on site restaurant with delicious breakfast buffet and dinners. Great location close to beaches.
Amazing room. It’s on the quiet side. But so close to the amazing beaches. We rented a car so the parking area of this hotel is super convenient.
Property staff were excellent. Loved the small restaurant bar.
A lovely place to stay for a few days. Light, bright comfortable clean room. Staff were great, the breakfast offering was plentiful. An easy short walk to town or beaches. I'd definitely stay again
We stayed two nights and had a great room with a private patio. When we checked in, the staff were welcoming and explained all we needed to know plus other hiking and kayaking suggestions. The buffet was great with lots of food and drink selection. What I would have loved was access to an ice machine or utensils without having to ask at the restaurant. Staff was friendly, helpful and kind.
Loved my stay here. Beautiful property, nice pools, excellent restaurant for breakfast and dinner. There was lots of construction happening around the property so it was a bit challenging driving to and from but manageable. About 20 minutes walk to town and very close to beaches. Would stay again!
Our stay was amazing. We loved the room and the staff were very helpful and kind.
We truly enjoyed our getaway to the Ambiance village. Best part was the hidden treasure of the best dinner we’ve had in Portugal right at the hotel. The waiter and chef were extremely attentive and the presentation and taste of the meal was divine. The hotel could use some refurbishing of the gym and sauna area…very antiquated. The hotel needs some better signage as well. The room was spacious and well equipped and the mad service excellent. It would have been nice to have someone help with bags as there were several stairs to the room. In fact, the women who was not very welcoming at check in dashed away pretty fast after she pointed out our room. The pools were cold but very refreshing. The hotel was an easy walk to the Dona Ana beach and a a good workout to the center village which was bustling with soccer fans in every bar. We enjoyed our stay.
Great place to stay in Lagos! Nice property, facilities and staff! Convenient location - 20 minutes walk to old town and the marina. Definitely do a boat tour!
The people in the restaurant were amazing. Luis Miguel went above and beyond explaining tge food and the wines. We liked the food so much that we ate there the two days. His staff was great too.
This was a great hotel. Bit farther away from old town (15 min walk) but close to the beaches. Good breakfast in the morning and lots of great amenities including a pool, sauna, etc. Would stay again for sure!
This is a not a hotel, it's advertised as a village, which is a stretch. Effectively several houses near each other with breakfast in one and the gym in another. Unfortunately my room 69 was almost in a house in a run down street opposite a derelict building .75km from breakfast and about .7km from the gym and it was up hills, across roundabouts and crossing roads. Not ideal and when I asked for a spot closer to the facilities reception wasn't accommodating or friendly.
LOOK NO FURTHER! This is an awesome villa! Fabulous service in the restaurant and bar. The food was so good that we had dinner there every night. Miguel was so friendly and he makes the best craft cocktails I have ever had. Shout out to Saine as well. We will stay here if back in this area. ( We had a Villa suite)
This was a great boutique hotel and walking distance to the beach. It has a beautiful pool and restaurant on property. The staff was so friendly and made you feel so welcome! They have different style apartments/rooms to accommodate various group sizes. Would definitely recommend for a quiet, relaxing stay. The best part may have been the delicious buffet breakfast. It had so many options and even Champagne!
Friendly staff
Overall property was really good. One downfall would be approx 20 min walk to old downtown where majority of the restaurants were.
Great hotel! Clean and friendly staff
Great location, great room with a large and comfortable bed, a full and very varied breakfast and great staff. We had a very pleasant stay.
Should have stayed a few more days.
The bathroom was outdated and the shower had no water pressure.
Relative new property, clean, safe, easy parking, great breakfast.
Location is close to beach and lighthouse. This hotel is actually spread out over a couple of blocks in separate smaller buildings. Breakfast was very good. Room were clean and beds were comfortable.
Room was beautiful and very updated! Breakfast was great and staff were very friendly!
Great boutique hotel 10-15 minute walk for old city. They provide easy and free parking and there is a gym with a sauna which was very nice and relaxing. Breakfast here was well appointed and very good. The neighborhood is very quiet and tranquil. Would definitely stay here again!
Loved our stay here. Quiet area and only a short walk (15 minute) to the old city. Very close to the boardwalk along the cliffs. The breakfast has lots to choose from. We had dinner here twice during our 5 night stay and it was excellent as well. Our superior studio was very spacious and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again. Special thanks to Miguel for his excellent service.
Lagos at its best
A perfect stay in Lagos. This being off-season, proximity to a beach was not required. In-season, the beach lovers may question the 10-min walk to the nearest beach (downhill, with the return trip being uphill obviously). Things to highlight: spacious room, very clean and modern, thorough room service daily; ample free parking; great breakfast buffet, with an option for on-site dinner if desired (may be desired, because there are not that many dining spots less than 20 min walk or 5-7 min driving distance). Very quiet at night. Solid five stars overall
Quiet place to stay!
We were too tired for supper and the person at the front desk helped order pizza for us. This was so kind of him❤️. This hotel is located within walking distance to Ponta de Piedade. This was one of the BEST highlights of our trip in the Algarve. Breakfast was amazing…champagne etc. included🥂. Parking inluded!
Hats off to the smart, friendly cleaners. Immaculate throughout, receptionist informative. Breakfast buffet plentiful and varied. The only negative would be a smaller than usual bathroom but adequate. Highly recommended.
Very close to coastal boardwalk over looking Atlantic and the scenery of Lagos. The daily breakfast looked and tasted like a wedding reception, complete with bubbly. We extended our stay twice and canceled other parts of our trip because of the marvelous location.
Nice Place
Service and breakfast were amazing. Enjoyed the stay. We passed on the option to have dinner.
Relaxing stay with good amenities
We had a fantastic stay here during our time in Lagos. It is slightly further away from the old town (15min walk) but also much quieter and close to a few beaches and view points (e.g. light tower). The service at the hotel was great, with fairly good amenities including several small pools. The breakfast spread is fairly extensive and a very convenient option to start the day. Would definitely stay here again
Fabulous Stay!
Beautiful room with patio. Best breakfast buffet ever! Need a car for this location
The breakfast is simple yet very fulfilling. The room is very clean
The room was very clean and very good breakfast
We loved our stay. The beaches, trails, and the historic town centre are all within walking distance (the beaches are just minutes away). The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was a nice way to start the day, with good food and coffee. And the pools were lovely and not overcrowded. Will definitely try to stay again in the future.
Very nice three-person suite; value for money excellent. The morning buffets were a dream, so much variety and quality offerings. The resort was very close to Praia do Camilo and Ponte da Piedade so that was a huge plus; we walked and enjoyed the beach everyday. Also, the city centre was only about a 15-20 minute walk so the location was excellent.
My partner and I absolutely loved our stay! The staff was very friendly and helpful and our room was always clean. The hotel is a 5 minute walk to the beautiful Dona Ana beach and Pointe de Piedade to watch the amazing sunrise. A walk into town I was also not too far. The included breakfast was tasty and a good start to the day. We had an early morning flight out when we left and the staff prepared us breakfast to take on our travels which we were not expecting. The hotel really went out of their way to make our stay in Lagos very enjoyable. I have already recommended it to family that will be visiting this month and they have also booked it! I would definitely stay here again!
Great place but far from old lagos
The property was beautiful, free close parking, breakfast was excellent only wished lattes and cappuccinos were available. The trails along the cliffs and sea caves were close and really beautiful to hike Only minus was the walking distance to the city center shops and restaurants
Fine for what it was
The hotel was fine, the best part probably being the location and proximity to Praia do Camilo, etc. which was great. Hotel felt rather disjointed as it’s not a traditional hotel. Also the room was somewhat small with bathroom and shower feeling as though they were all in the same room ( no privacy). Not a bad place just know what you’re getting.
Great value
The property overall is expansive. Multiple buildings with pools and facilities. Friendly staff. The location is further away from town center but closer to the beaches. Be sure to head out for beautiful sunrise and sunset
Fantastic breakfast buffet!!! Staff was very attentive and enjoyed helping you! The facility was very clean and comfortable. Very convenient location being walkable to town, beach, boardwalk and lighthouse. Second time we have stayed here and WILL NOT be the last.
Great service, quiet and relaxing
From check-in to check-out everything was excellent. Miguel was very polite and helpful at checkin; what a wonderful gentleman! When it came to needs in our room the staff was very accommodating and quick to respond. Every mornings breakfast met us with the most polite/delightful staff; Happy, Sunny and Any were exemplary in their efforts to make all guests welcome/comfortable! This is our second time staying at “Ambiance” and we WILL be back! Thank you for a great time/stay. As a side note our adult children and spouses joined us there and enjoyed their stay as we did!
Would go back anytime, sad to see big construction around the area
Very beautiful site. Cleanliness, quiet and amazing breakfast.
Cozy house hotel, tidy, with great service
Beaches are within walking distances. The wooden walkway along the cliff/ beaches are great. There is a lot of construction in the area which can be an inconvenience. The property itself is nice to relax and take it easy
Exceptional
This was a very nice comfortable property with a great location. The staff at check in showed us the location of the pools and dining, provided a great walking map of the area, and were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in two 1 BR apartment. The room was very clean and comfortable and had a small balcony with seating an a clothes drying rack. The restaurant was very good and the included breakfast superb.
Great location- quiet and close to the beach.
Ok property/ beware of malfunctioning AC in rooms
Please note that the various buildings that take up the block have stairs only. So if you have mobility issues, request ground floor. Checked in - AC was not working properly and loud sound fan in bathroom as well as room. Called reception within 30 min of checking in. They said they would send maintenance to fix. 90 min later, no maintenance. Called reception again, and they sent maintenance within 30 min. Maintenance could not fix. I asked to move rooms considering it was 90 degrees outside, in July, in Lagos. Property could not move us - woke up next morning in sweat. Manager gave us 10% back on cost of room for one night, after we refused a 20 euro credit in the hotel restaurant which was another way for them to make more money off the stay. Beware: I saw one other review where AC was not working. You need to leave your luggage at reception to first check out room to ensure AC is working. Do not take luggage with you. It is much harder for property to deny you a new room for broken AC if all your belongings are sitting in their office. Breakfast was the best part of the stay. Abundance of food. Also, a lot of construction near property with dirt and sand flying everywhere.
Very good for a family stay
Amazing breakfast, great pools, great location. We would come back anytime :)
This was a beautiful property - I only wish we had stayed longer. The staff walked us around upon check in to show us the location of the pools and dining, provided a great walking map of the area, and were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a 1 BR apartment. The room was very clean and comfortable. Our bedroom was quite comfortable and had a small balcony with seating an a clothes drying rack. The main living room had a very comfortable bed for our adult daughter, plus comfortable seating, a kitchenette and even reading materials. We stayed two nights and wish we had stayed longer.
Slightly outdated and older accommodation not in the center of town. Good value for money with a fantastic breakfast spread but definitely on the simpler side.
Lovely, clean place to stay. Buffet breakfast was extensive and had everything you could imagine to eat.
Very Nice place to stay
Amazing hôtel, nice restaurant with local food and nice people! Nice pools, very clean. Very calm!
A Wonderful Place
Very close to Praia Dona Ana, however not much choice for any restaurant nor supermarket. There is kitchenette in the room but need to go further out to do groceries unless you have a car. We only stay for few days so no cooking for us. The kettle is handy for making tea. We stayed on the ground which came with patio & direct access to the pool so our friends came to our room to hangout.
WiFi did not initially work and it was fixed right away. The food and service in the dining room is excellent.
We really enjoyed our stay. Close to the beaches and lookout points. Breakfast was great.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Lovely accommodation and food
Lovely property with friendly staff and excellent food. The property is more a set of converted villas rather than a traditional single site hotel but the accommodation is all close by so not really an issue. We had a beautiful room with it's own terrace that was close to the dining room. My only disappointment was that their is quite a bit of construction close by which was ugly and a bit noisy (clearly not the hotels fault). There are some lovely walks and beaches near by but the walk into town is not so nice so I would recommend a car.
Would stay again
Really clean rooms, great breakfast and a good location with close to cute little beaches and walking distance to old town. Would stay again!
Our week long stay at Costa d’Oiro, which we originally chose based on location, was wonderful in every way. The property is quaint, quiet, friendly, extremely clean, safe, and only a five minute walk to the lovely Praia Dona Ana, a local bus, a hop on hop off bus, a couple of restaurants, and the coastal boardwalk. A twelve minute walk from the hotel took us to the famous Ponta da Piedade where we took a boat tour of the incredibly beautiful caves, walked the sandy beaches and discovered another couple of restaurants. The friendly and accommodating staff at reception were helpful calling us taxis which had us in the centre of Old Town Lagos in a few short minutes for an average of about €6. The entire staff at Costa d’Oiro went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Our room, which was spacious and very comfortable, was kept spotlessly clean, as was the whole property. We were greeted by the cheerful wait staff every morning at breakfast, which we had included in our reservation. The buffet was a daily highlight with everything imaginable! Although we ate dinner at a variety of restaurants in and around the Algarve, we also enjoyed a couple of delicious meals at our hotel. A special thank you to Paolo, Sinie, and Luigi for taking such good care of us. Overall, our stay at Costa d’Oiro. Ambiance Village was most enjoyable and we will be back!
Lovely staff and accommodation. Would highly recommend
Pleasant stay
Hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was quite good with nice selection. The enclosed heated pool was a nice bonus. Property is attractive. On the down side several big condos are being constructed in the immediate vicinity. So there is construction noises during the day. We didn't find that it affected our stay. The hotel is not close to the train station so we advise taking a taxi. There is a lot of walking but we knew this going in. Overall we had a good stay and would go back.
Nice villa and absolutely beautiful area in a walking distance. Tasty and fassionable breakfast
The reception staff are helpful and extremely friendly. Easy check in, they tell you the sites in Lagos and assist booking activities if needed. The breakfast included is also great. Wifi included. The room we stayed in smelled funny as soon as we entered it. Kind of like drainage chemicals. It just looked very old and 3rd world. The hallway was also pretty creepy.
Surprisngly nice! Easy walk to beaches and into city, restaurant was excellent for dinner - surprise for a small hotel. Let us have a late checkout. Clean and pleasant!
This property is in an excellent location, in a quiet neighborhood setting, but walking distance to everything. The rooms were comfortable and roomy. Staff was attentive. The breakfast buffet was really nice. I would recommend staying here.
Charming neighborhood location though may be impacted by construction. The hotel is a very professional ppetation offering truly good value. Redysurant is a strong plus. Not quite the easy walk to town so drive as there is parking.
It was excellent in all regards. Walkable to several beaches, lighthouse and walking vistas nearby and completely accessible to old town (assuming comfort with some level of walking)
Great location, very upto date property, and phenomenal staff
Lovely place to stay. Quite different to other hotes in that the rooms are located in different buildings and not within a compound. The buffet breakfat is excellent, lots of choices for those who like to sample a great variety of continental goodies. The staff are always around to help, if needed and they clear away everything promptly. There are a variety of restaurants nearby and it is not far to walk into the town and down to the harbour. There are beaches nearby that are accessible by wooden steps and walkways.
Loved the quiet setting.
Great place to visit
We truly enjoyed our visit in Lagos especially staying at this hotel. We arrived late evening due to a canceled flight from Lisboa and had to drive all the way to Faro to pick up our rental car so you can just imagine how exhausted we were that day. When we checked in, we asked the hotel receptionist that night if they are any restaurants open that late and he said they have a restaurant in the village/hotel but they are already close for dinner. He said he will talk to the staff if they can prepare something for us to eat and they did. We were greeted with smiles and they were happy to serve us. They even provided us with a couple of cakes to take to our room since we were so full from what they have prepared for us to eat. Thanks again to Luis and Sani who are so nice and gracious to make us feel so welcome. The village is not just any other hotel. It felt like home. Ambiance is great 👍 Breakfast spread is great too and for dinner, the meals are outstanding. Thanks to the chef! We felt like we are eating in a Michelin star restaurant. Location is also good, very close to Praia Camilo and Praia Dona Ana. We will definitely come back here again soon!
Great location in a nice neighborhood near Dona Ana beach. Our one bedroom apartment was very nice and well equipped. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet is incredible! It is a little bit of a walk from the center of town, but we appreciated being out of the tourist mayhem.
Very nice place, we extended our stay for an extra day. Walking distance to 2 very convenient beaches, and a longer walk gets you to a giant 3rd beach that's pretty amazing. Great sights. Also walking distance into the old town for dinner at night. Friendly staff
Fantastic Hotel
Perfect holiday. We stayed in one of the studios will pool. We were on ground floor. Spotlessly clean. Great food in the hotel. Meals at night excellent. Breakfast excellent. Staff really friendly and helpful. Free wifi in room and main hotel area. Free safety deposit box in room. Hotel will organise airport transfers at a good price. Only negative comment, no hanging space for long dressed, but thats a minor issue.
Fabulous stay. Breakfast was delicious. The room was spotlessly clean too. Location is perfect for hiking along the coastline and some popular beaches.
Nice property. Would stay there again!
Fantastic location and excellent service!
Breakfast variety excellent Resort very clean Staff friendly and helpful Beautiful stay
Great but restaurant management could be better
I really liked this place and I would stay there again. Two of the leads for the restaurant/bar crew were not very nice but everyone else in the restaurant and bar was very nice. This wasn't very nice because I missed out on eating there.
Best buffet complimentary breakfast in Spain!
This hotel is in a prime location to access a great beach (Dona Ana) and the old part of Lagos. We were in the second building (~400m away from the first) and had no issues getting back to the main building for breakfast. We walked, although the hotel is happy to give you a ride. Great place to stay!
Nice location, close to the beaches and grotto. Good stay, though nothing special.
Great place to stay
A nice friendly & relaxed place to stay, with friendly staff. Very Good.
Nice and clean property.
Love this place!!
I love this place so much! We stayed here 6 years ago and loved it so much we came back. Miguel is so kind and helpful and every hotel should be lucky to have someone like him at the front desk. I booked through hotels.com and asked for the similar room that we had last time we ended up in a different room which was gorgeous but I was hoping for the same one - Miguel worked his magic and were able to move us over to the exact same room we had last time even though they were fully booked and we seriously appreciate it. This hotel is in an amazing location and you can walk to a few of the best beaches in the area. It’s about a 20 minute walk from downtown Lagos which is too far but they have free parking on site and it’s easy to park in the garage or downtown Lagos. The breakfast Is AMAZING. I would suggest not leaving any food or anything out overnight as the ants will come quickly not the hotels fault but if it’s some thing that annoys you it’s some thing to be mindful about. I do wish they had more water stations available in each little complex instead of having to go to the bar or restaurant to buy more. The pillows and beds could use a little updating but the rooms and great and all the little pools are gorgeous. We also had a lovely massage! I would 10000% recommend.
Great room size and layout.
This was a great place to stay if you want to be near two of the most beautiful beaches in Lagos. It is not near the center of town, so it’s quite quiet. It’s about a mile to a mile and a half walk to the things in the city that you might want to do including going to the marina. What we loved about it was the way the rooms were set up around the pool - we were in the second building – and we had tables and chairs so that people in our group could easily get together outdoors and have a wonderful outdoor gathering space. The staff was very accommodating and pleasant. The breakfast was delicious and expansive. The bartenders were great as were the liters of sangria! The rooms were clean and housekeeping came promptly and did a very good job. Overall a really nice place to stay.
Enjoyed the village great place to relax very close to beaches and great breakfast.
The location was central to everything so we were able to walk everywhere. The room was large, clean, quiet and had its own patio and there were plenty of pools to enjoy. We would recommend this spot.
Nice place that’s convenient to many attractions.
The “hotel” is spread out amongst various homes converted to multi room hotel units. Some units are more desireable than others. The staff was very accommodating and helpful whenever needed. Just choose your building wisely.

Really enjoyed the hotel. Quiet location and easy walk to the boardwalk. Public bus very accessible and about 20 minute walk ro downtown Lagos. Food was great and the heated pool much appreciated in February.
