it was a great value

I had a great stay here! The bed was super comfortable and the showers were large with plenty of space for belongings. Tony at the bar was extremely friendly!!! The IPA is delicious, definitely recommend trying!

Would not book again

Beautiful view in daytime from the 5th floor. Lighting inside the room terrible though so really not pleasant after sun down (one of the lights not working on top of that). The bed is quite high of the ground. The shower is awful. The great thing about this place is the location. Next time I will pick a hotel for the same price but a few blocks away.

Affordable stay

The hostel was really affordable which is the only reason I got it. It was accessible from the airport, but I got lost on the way back. They didn’t respond to any of messages or calls to ask if they had 24/7 services because we were going to be there after midnight. Overall the capsule was clean and the sleep was good and the bar was awesome too, so it was alright.

The capsules are so noisy esp if you are on the bottom one. Toilets smell terrible. Have to pay for towel and toiletries. Staffs are more helpful towards bar customers and they forget about the in house guests

Stayed two nights at the hostel; with bad experience; 1) very noisy starting from 10pm till 1am for Sunday and Monday night 2) noise starts back again as early as 5am when guest are checking out as lacking of sound proof 3) feeling low energy and grumpy the next day Best to avoid this place

BEWARE of staying at this place if u like a good night sleep. As the location is between bars and restaurants, the noise by the bar patrons can be heard even if you are staying at level 2. Avoid staying at rooms next to the staircase because the noise can also be heard when they walk loudly. The staff service is excellent though.

The stay was fine it can get very loud at times but staff are very friendly and helpful but I would say they do charge too much per night for what you get.

Best place for fun

The best thing about this hostel is the location: absolutely unbeatable, close to everything within a short walk. Lots of bakeries and coffee shops around, metro stations, train stations, water, canal tours, museums, etc. There was a long lineup from 3pm for checkin, was not able to get into my room before that. Nice young staff. Room was very small but had everything I needed. Bathroom is a water closet with the shower head in the middle of the ceiling, don’t leave anything in there while you’re having a shower! The hostel is very noisy (I had a room facing the street) due to the bars and restaurants around; bring a good pair of earplugs if you want to get some sleep! They offer paid breakfast which I did not partake in and also activities which I did not partake in. Overall good stay but would probably not stay there again.

It’s a hostel so there are things to be expected like noise but one night they had music playing loudly until 2-3 am in their common area which turns into a club/bar at night. The capsule was clean and comfortable for the most part but a little stuffy. They could use improved ventilation and temperature control. Theres only one sink near the toilets and showers. The toilets were often dirty and some of the toilets didn’t flush so they should increase the cleaning and ensure they all work. The hostel is in a great location and within walking distance to all the main attractions. Overall safe and good value for the price. Highly recommend if for young travelers looking to party and meet people. I’d stay here again with an open mindset for the shortcoming because of the location and cost.

Constant malfunctions of the toilet

I chose this hostel because of its close to the city center, and I regretted it. I had a room with shared bathrooms. There were only two shared toilets on the floor, they were clogged with paper, the workers cleaned the water on the floor, I could not use the toilet at the time I needed. The sinks were clogged with leftover food. I understand that the guests are to blame for the garbage, but if the hostel staff knows that the number of bathrooms is too small for such a large number of residents, they need to take care of cleanliness or warn the guests to be careful with facility! I do not recommend. Most importantly, they are at the center of this.

The sleeping boxes had good ventilation systems, not like other reviews say. Also a modern locking system. The staffs are very friendly, this is a very nice place to stay.

Awful experience, never again

The accommodation states each guest is counted as an adult. Therefore i booked myself and my 16 year old son seperate pods. Upon arriving, we were told he couldn't have his own, despite being in the same room as me, because he was under 18! No refund, just couldn't use the other pod. So we both had to squeeze into a single pod for the first night (it was 1am) hes 6ft and had to curl up, to fit in. We both got very little sleep. The mattress was covered in pubic hair and pillows stained. There was also finger prints everywhere, suggesting that the pod wasnt cleaned throughly!! The fan was air circulation not an actual fan! The next morning, we left and booked a hotel. I really wanted to introduce my son to hostel life, as i had whilst travelling in my teens. Never again!!

This is a tale of two visits. I visited Copenhagen Downtown Hostel 15 years ago, and was happy with my experience. I was traveling alone, and enjoyed a quiet and clean room for three nights. The location is excellent and the staff is friendly. I paid the equivalent of about $50/night. Last month, my wife and I were looking for a spartan hotel in a good location, so I was happy to return. This time the cost was about $160/night (5 nights), so I was expecting an upgraded experience -- along with our private bathroom. WRONG! We came in on a warm evening, and there was no air conditioning. The bar downstairs is open until 5am and it was very HOT and NOISY. I asked for another room, and was told that they were full. Our double bed was fitted with single sheets, and there were faint blood stains on the mattress pad. Our bathroom smelled either of mold or bad plumbing, so we kept the door and windows open. I complained to the manager the next morning about the high cost of this substandard room, and was told that this was like the airlines -- sometimes prices are higher or lower. We were very unhappy with our room, and complained to Expedia (They are giving us a $100 refund on our next booking.) There was no maid service during our entire 5 night stay. If you decide to stay here, ask for a QUIET room in the interior of the building, and stay for a day or two. Now for some positives: the location is great, the guests are nice, great internet and hot showers.

Was a great place but the only downfalls I found was that the capsules could do with air-conditioning as the heat was unbearable and not enough toilets or showers for the amount of people staying on the floor but the rest I would say was amazing, great customer service, atmosphere.

It was overall good with convenient transport access and a beautiful mall to chill around.

CPH Downtown Hostel is a cool place. I would go back again. the pod experience was neat, the facilities like bathroom and shower were clean enough but not spotless- rooms and service were fine

Love it

There was no breakfast, but there was a bakery open at 7 across the street. Toilets were sometimes messy in the morning, but clean later on when the cleaning staff arrived. There was often a queue at reception, but that seems the case at all hostels.

Good place to stay for a centralized home base. Good vibes with a bar in the hostel. There are lockers for luggage before checking in if youre there early.

Comfortable Hostel

We arrived at the hostel at 3 and our room was ready for check in. We reserved a private room with 2 beds, and we loved our bunk beds, private bathroom and desk. Our room was on the 3rd floor and we took the steps, but there is an elevator if needed. The hostel was quiet and we could not hear people in other rooms. Next door there is a cafe with tables where we enjoyed eating dinner the next night. We would definitely recommend staying at the Downtown hostel.

Value for money

Very good hotel to stay the employees are so happy and polite and also ready to help you in the best way it’s possible… quality people with good attitude to give you peace and love to stay comfortable to enjoy your time in Denmark 👍✌️❤️🙏

We left after the first night (we have four nights booked). The electronic lock (key code pass) were horrible and totally unreliable. We made multiple trips back and fourth to the desk to get it corrected and it was not. This process took nearly two hours before we were able to actually get into our accommodation. Once there we were not able to lock the door and did not feel safe leaving our belongings in our accommodation. We checked out the following morning with no refund or any offer to address our issues. We will not consider booking with them again in the future and we caution anyone who does consider booking there. On a better note, the bar is a very lively place and the other patrons were super nice.

Room 402 smells very bad

Very Friendly staff and good vibes in the bar. Breakfast good value but room 402 has strong smell of raw sewage from the shower drain. We raised this with reception and they sent a cleaner but this made no differance. Couldnt switch rooms so the only thing we could do to get rid of the small was to put the shower on for long periods of time.

The place is allover just great - great service - lots of travellers from all around the world - good breakfast - only minus was the bed that was so hard - like sleeping on the floor - so set that beside perfect location and great service

Absolute Gem of a place!

Me and my partner had a great 3 night stay here. While the rooms are a little basic on the decor and a little run down (the bathrooms could do with a little revamp and some TLC) other than that we can’t fault anything. The facilities on site were fab, the pub downstairs was always open and serving, everyone that worked there was lovely and the whole ethos of the place seems to be simple and straight forward which we loved. For the price the location was spot on and could not be faulted. The bed were surprisingly comfy and the water pressure and temperature was much better than we expected. Not even 10 minutes from Tivoli gardens and 4 minutes from the shopping district we walked everywhere and only used the metro to travel to and from the airport. Really great hostel and we would definitely stay again!

Great location

Great location close to everything. Bar staff friendly. Private room was decent but if you're on the window side you need to climb over your partner! A lot of dirt on the radiators but overall quite clean. The shower was above the toilet so not detachable and you had to stand by the toilet when showering. Lots of plug sockets and mirrors which was good.

Great location with walking distance to several metro stations and museums. Fun atmosphere and really nice lobby. Depending on room orientation, it can be quite loud until late with the bar below. Overall a nice experience, I would stay here again!

Capsule was extremely hot and lacked fresh air. I’ve stayed in capsule hostels before and they normally had air conditioning or good ventilation. Some extra charges such as towels came unexpected, and no shampoo/soap in showers was a surprise. Friendly staff though and a nice atmosphere, good bar.

Amazing showers beds staff and location

Quaint, good for a couple days

This hostel was bustling while I was there. The staff is friendly though I’m sure they’re all other travelers so it felt a little scattered at times. The single room was decent - bed was more comfortable than expected and plenty of space for a solo traveler. The shower situation, however, was unique - a wet room with no vent! The water got plenty hot with good pressure though. I appreciate the layers of security to get to the rooms. I would stay again. The breakfast was a bit lacking but not terrible. They have a water spout for filling up bottles in the bar area.

It was very FUN! the rooms were in ok shape (I had a private room, it was dated but as expected for the price, location and being a hostel) , the lobby area was very clean and nice. Please note that early check in is not a thing there though.

Stood for 20 mins behind two guys trying to check in Thursday, slept ok that night after midnight( hey it’s over a bar, so expected!), rowdier Friday night, then woken at 2:20 am by stamping shouting singing young men on the floor above…. Obviously having a great time up there, never slept a wink! Checked out a day early and sought a good nights sleep elsewhere! Great location, but bring earplugs!!

Poor cleanliness and lack of activities

I had a single ensuite room booked. I was disappointed to find that when i checked in, there was urine in the toilet, with stains on the toilet seat. The toilet roll dispenser was full of black mouldy toilet roll which looked like it hadn't been replaced in months. The toilet roll dispenser is also in a very silly place, dorectly underneath the shower head, so any toilet roll sticking out immediately becomes paper mache and can't be used. The bedding was also extremely dusty, any small movements would release a huge amount of dust that was clearly visible on the bedside lamps. I became concerned for the effect it could have on my lungs. Lastly, the hostel wasnt great for solo travellers. The bar was good but there were no activities organised to help get you to meet new people (or if there was, there was no information on this).

Best value stay option in copenhagen

I am satisfied to all services they offer. Really enjoyed my stay. Absolutely will come back!

Clean and quite

Booked a bed in a four bed room. Arrived to a noisy party hostel and struggled to know where to check in and get past drunk folks - that’s fine, I understand it was a Friday night in Copenhagen. Once I got to my room it was quiet enough. I got there at 11.30pm. Lights in the room went out at 12. Someone came back at 1am then someone else at 2am. Absolutely fine - it’s Friday night and I expected some disturbance but one returnees took 15mins of shuffling and lights to get to bed. Then at 4am one womans phone was just ringing and ringing until someone woke her. Then she left the room without her phone (light from the hall coming into the room) and it started ringing again. Then she came back, got her phone, rummaged around, left, came back. Started rummaging loudly again at which point I got up and left as I had an early flight anyway and what was leaving at 4.30am instead of 5am?! I get that a hostel on a Friday night in a city is going to busy but the lack of consideration from other guests was awful.

Not again!

I stayed in the second floor. When I used the shower in the middel no hot water. I transfered to the right side of the shower again no hot water. Then I transfered to left side there was hot water but broken pusset.

Needs renovation

Judging by the score and some reviews I thought it was in better shape, but the room smell oddly, the shared bathrooms were always dirty and the hallway with lots of water. There was also an energy cable running through the hallway which looked a bit hazardous for people, especially because of the water. For the price and the location they could at least have soap on the showers. I believe it is high time they start renovating. The bar, on the other hand, is pretty good, the ambience and the staff are super friendly. Happy hour had some nice deals but the information on the card does not apply anymore so ask before.

Not worth it

Before we get there we read a review here about rashes, and we couldn’t believe it was true. But first of all we got the keycard in the bar (which is where the front desk is), and then it didn’t work, so we had to go back, and it was really crowded in the bar, alcohol all over the floor - fair enough. We finally got to our room, which wasn’t the cleanest. Then like an hour after we went to bed, we found bed bugs in our bed. Never had I been so grossed out. We packed all our stuff and went to sleep in the car at like 3 am. I really wanted to believe the best about this hostel, but this experience was horrifying, and for anyone who’s thinking about getting a room there for the price - it’s probably not worth it. We got a refund and the staff was super friendly, so nothing against them, it’s just not a place I would sleep

I was bitten by something and had rashes. Didn t notice anything during the night there. The bed was not very clean. This place is not for me. But; the location is perfect.

Room (private) was clean and bed comfortable. Nice bar, coffee, ambience and staff. However, tip for if you choose a private room, ask for one at the back of the hotel if they have. Almost impossible to sleep if youre planning on an early night since rhe bar downstairs closes at midnight but the party moves across the road (daily) and people make a lot of noise until early hours. Then trucks (rybbish collection i guess) drive past early in the morning. Also avoid anywhere near the front door. Hence the 3 star rating, just couldnt get much sleep!

Perfect For Short Stay

The hostel in located in central Copenhagen just a short walk from the Main Square and numerous metro stops. The staff were friendly and the bar attached to it is reasonably priced and open late. The twin room itself was small and the top bunk wasn't the easiest to get up to but for the price of accommodation in Copenhagen it's hard to fault this place at value for money, would be happy to stay here again.

The shared showers were not very clean. There was no toilet paper in the room, so I had to ask for it at the reception.

the property itself was fine, and the location was too. what I did not like was the hotel staff not being fully aware of their duties, and them telling me I had to check out early when in fact I had already paid my entire stay in advance. then they just switched my rooms without informing me

I'm not a hostel kind of person but i got positively surprised by this place. Tiny room with a private bathroom. Everything around was so close that makes it the perfect choice to visit the city with no needs of public transportation at all.

good hostel as they have a desk that’s open 24 hours, and a bar in the lobby that’s open later than most places. rooms are clean. bathrooms and showers are tiny, but water is very hot. good value, amazing location.

Very fun hostel, in a great location. Not a place to stay if you need a quiet night's sleep though. Also laundry facilities were a bit lacking, and a bit pricey.

Nice hostel, good location! Very large so a good opportunity to meet new people. Pretty clean over all. They charge you for everything they can and advertise free dinner on their websites but don’t actually offer it. Staff is not overwhelmingly friendly. Working in A hostel myself I know the importance of staff guest interaction and here there is very minimal.

Good hostel , no free parking in area u have to pay the meter . WiFi here was really good . Party scene in the bar is good as well . Good location walking distance to the clubs / bars . Breakfast 4/10 not worth it to me . nd the tevol park

Location is excellent. Breakfast is amazingly good, but pricey. Almost all hostels I've stayed at have had a kitchen, so that would be a great addition. Very noisy at times, but not unruly. Staff are wonderful, helpful, professional and kind. The odd glitch, like the washer and dryer breaking down, it happens, but maybe a back-up plan would be a good idea. Overall a wonderful stay and I would recommend it.

I have paid a significantly higher rate to get a private room with a private bathroom at this place. It turns out they have the shower head right above the toilet seat , no bathtub or anything. If you take a shower, everything in the bathroom gets drenched with water , including the toilet seat, mirror etc. I took a 3 minute shower to find that water seeped out of the door to the bedroom carpet and the carpet was soaked . When I told the front desk, they said they will send someone to fix the drain , which they never did . I asked for towels to place on the carpet , they only gave me 1 towel and said its 20 Krones per extra towel. For 3 days , I am walking on wet carpet , in a room that now smells like mold and I had to shower outside in the common shower in the hallway ! so much for privacy !

It’s not bad for s hostel , but the bar and restaurant are fantastic. Also, the location is perfect you can roam around København by feet! Good luck!
