Very helpful staff Cleanliness excellent staff Quite location Walking distance to Birmingham bull open market with variety of fruits and vegetables Good transport and a walking distance to the national express coach
Really dirty and got stuck in the lift and nobody came to help
Bit scanky
Old, dingy, dark tatty room.
Bed comfy. Inadequate heating so room was cold. No heating in onsuite so very cold. Unable to watch TV as picture kept breaking up. Help was non existent.also no. food available Could not recommend
Very basic but clean
A very last minute booking on a tight budget. The hotel is incredibly basic, but clean and the service was good. I was road side at the hotel, and the window was single glazed and let in a lot of sound and cold. I didn't feel overly safe in the area as a lone female traveller but it is very central. I wouldn't choose to stay again, but if on a tight budget and you don't want any frills, this may meet your requirements. The staff at reception were very friendly and helpful
The worst room ever. Not made for human use especially single bed rooms. The bed should be thrown away. Very old moldy, terrible hygiene and insects in the bed. I was counting the hours to leave. Never back there, rather spend the night in the streets
Hotel clean but in process of being repainted. Hotel not in nicest area but very close to bullring and practically opposite grand central station. Car park is a 5 minute walk away and you have to pay daily rate while it is cheaper it still adds to cost. Car park is secure but so secure we couldnt get back in as nobody answered the phone and we had to wait nearly 20 minutes for someone to coming out to get in.
Basic, exactly what you pay for
The reviews are too cynical about this place. It's a budget hotel right in front of the station. The friendly staff does the job! Don't expect anything too fancy, but for business purposes it's a catch.
Lovely stay as always apart from having redecorating done throughout whilst still fully operating and we unfortunately had no knowledge of this till we arrived and painters everywhere , plastic on the floor , tape up the walls etc...paint fumes
The stay for the 2nd time was great Comfortable as always But unfortunately the bathroom wasn’t up to standards 1. The cleaner clearly missed some areas of the bath witch left black hairs over the bath 2.the sink didn’t keep water for a long time 3. The bathroom needs an up grade But overall was a great Stay
Convenient to the station and city center,
Truly awful.
The property is in serious need of updating. The bathroom has mould on the walls, once rolled down the blind would not go back up, there was no heating in the room and hairs left behind by the cleaners. No breakfast facilities but a bar open from noon. Rubbish was left out on the landing which made the corridors smell. Whilst I was on the 4th floor, I could still hear all the raucous from the street: cars revving, people shouting and police sirens. I was there for a conference which was within walking distance but I will stay further away from the city centre and the Comfirt Inn next time. A less than enjoyable stay.
Hiked prices because of an event. Bitten by bed bugs.
Older part of town. Very close to shopping and train station.
They charged me twice for the room.
I'm not impressed with Birmingham
I got into my room and it smelt of cigarettes I opened the bathroom window and there was a bit of a the drain full of cigarette butts. I had a nap bed was OK but don't understand why it was a single plenty of room for a double. I went out a bit later around 8 I wasn't impressed with Birmingham I was nearly mugged hotel wasn't a problem but I decided to go back to Manchester. I went to check out gave my key in and the woman said you don't owe anything, no question on why have you checked out a day earlier.
Decent for the price. Private facilities and clean and bed was comfortable too
Well positioned for New Street Railway station, staff friendly and good price. No breakfast available. Clean rooms and bedding.
It was good
Never Again
Staff is very nice, the room was clean and it is 2 min away from the station. However, the matrass& pillow were horrible. It was the first time I could not fall asleep because of that. The entire property needs a refurbishment. I could say it is ok for one night but unfortunately not even that.
Visiting family near by
More customer services training needed
This was a mistake. The staff has threatened me and 'try' to physically assault me, byt misses due to being a lit on the heavy side
Excellent staff, especially Mr. Majid and his Estonian colleague; they were courteous and very helpful. My room, which had a TV snd a coffee/tea service, and the bathroom was very clean and the bed linen crisp and clean. If you are especially a single traveler (as I was) and needing to stay near the New Street railway station (the main one), the Comfort Inn Birmingham is just a few steps away. The hotel sits on the edge of Chinatown, with excellent and reasonably priced Asian fare and low-key pubs. I felt safe, despite some non-threatening panhandling inside the station, which by the way has excellent security.
Stayed here a few times very convenient for the train station and in a good geographical area for the city centre. The hotel rooms could do with a face lift but for the money i paid was good value.
Basic
Very basic hotel. No luxuries. V convenient for the station.
This hotel is close to the station, and the rooms are functional but looking pretty tired. The outside of the building looks run down, and the area is a bit run down and noisy at night. The staff are helpful and do their best.
Poor Hotel
Terrible not comfortable room it was a hobbit size room and I'm over 6ft. There was dodgy wiring for TV aerial and the TV did not work. The shower pole for holding the shower head was wobbly. Also expose wire for fire alarm. The hotel did not sell breakfast even though we were sold it through Hotels.com as bed and breakfast. Would never stay at the comfort inn again. And worst still your website will not allow me to add photos.
The only Comfort in Comfort Inn is the crispy clean sheets. Otherwise it is horribly overdue for redecorating. Never again.
It’s less than two minutes from new street station, I was a little hesitant to book but they were excellent! The rooms were clean, the service was good and the staff was more than accommodating and friendly. The lift is a bit cramped, but other than that it’s pretty good for how cheap it is. Highly Reccomend :)
Scruffy and mouldy
The hotel is scruffy and in need of a massive refurbishment. We booked a twin room which had a 3rd bed unexpectedly crammed in. The bathroom smelled of mould and the bedroom smelled fusty. Opening the windows helped but there was lots of noise from the street. The bathroom was like a wet room. There was lots of mould on the window. It’s convenient for New Street Station but that’s about the only good thing about it.
Excellent location for the station.
Right next to Birmingham New Street station so perfect for an overnight stay before catching an early train. Room for clean and comfortable and really good value. Staff were friendly. Lift rather antiquated with the cage door on the ground floor being left open meant I had to struggle down the stairs with my case. Would stay here again,
Good for one night Stay
Basic hotel, clean and tidy, okay for a one nighter when visiting for a show. Close to train station which was a bonus. Close to Symphony Hall.
…
One of the worst I have ever been.
The common areas very dated. On arrival lift not working and room on third floor. No bottled water in room. Very expensive for standard given. Room was clean but very noisy extractor fan in bathroom
The hotel was clean My room was dark the window was by a brick wall , I know that can’t be helped but it was so dark and felt down on you
I would recommend this hotel for someone wanting a place to sleep near the city centre. We stayed here four nights while we explored and it was brilliantly located for the trains, trams and walking. The lift was out of order when we arrived and the staff took all our luggage to our room for us, after switching us to a room on the first floor. The beds were comfortable and the bar area excellent. As it's located just behind New Street Station we were in China Town and the local restaurants were great.
I want full refund. Didn’t give me room with 2 beds as requested. Lift was not working. I have to lift heavy plugged to second floor. Room had molds. They put my luggage in a moldy space under stairs which was hot and my food items and chocolate got melted. My luggage are all smelling. Washroom was dirty. Room door was broken. Toilet flush was not working. Hotel staff were very rude and not cooperative. No support in bath tub. I slipped !! I am very disappointed and want full refund. Please, I have never done this but this time I am really disappointed and want my full money back. They didn’t give any shampoo. Tea Kettle was very dirty. Room had no common amenities. Very stingy Dirty room with dirty window and carpet.
We visit this Hotel a lot , but we felt this time it wasnt up to par . Have had better experiences.
Very dated and in need of updating, clean but an odour persisted through out our stay in the reception area Good location but very noisy at night
City Centre Hotel.
The hotel is in a good location. Staff are friendly and helpful. The bar is open for limited time.
Staff are nice, it is clean, the bed is comfortable and good bathroom as well
This hotel waa appauling and not even cheap. It was smelly, dirty, poorly maintained.
Excellent proximity to new street train station bed and room lovely and clean staff nice but outside property at night I was a bit worried about safety
Decent weekend stay
Stayed for weekend. Location is good as everything is walk distance for what you need. Employee's were good. Overall, its a decent Comfort Inn, nothing to complain about, but nothing that went above and beyond. I would rebook this hotel in the future.
Outside lights did not was switched and in the night is hard to spot it.
Great for a short stay
A very good service at reception staff polite and helpful Booked this hotel on the bed and breakfast option only to find breakfast at this hotel had not been served for over 6 years..(not a good start) but all sorted once the 1 hour wait for a rep call.. A roomy but noisy front bedroom single bed comfortable dated decor The shower room needs updating tea/coffee facilities ok Tv, aerial reception sketchy but ok for a short stay.
Hotel was dated but the room was lovely and clean. Central location was a big bonus and the arrangement with the near carpark at £8 for 24 hours was fab
Madness
The hotel itself was alright, friendly & helpful staff..the room was clean & comfortable too..but the lift was like something out of agatha christie..would stay there again if going to a gig at the Utilita Arena.
Cheap for a reason
Horrible tiny room with the old furniture, lumpy single bed, only one pillow and mini tv that didn’t work properly. Asked reception twice about another pillow and gave up waiting as it never arrived.
Very comfortable room, basic but excellent value.
Needs Double Glazing Hotel.
Hotel is in a good location but needs a paint and part refurbish. It’s bar closes to early and is well over priced. Staff are friendly and the boss is there a lot. The TV in the bedroom you take a chance it works. Tea/Coffee is in the room. Could do with the rooms being double glazed to cut down road noise and the shouting and banging by railway workers out in there road vehicles.
Good location from station and central Birmingham
Easy and convinient for city centre as close to new street station, good buy if you get a good price i paid £60 for a twin and was happy with that !
Would not stay again.
Hotel was fine. Dated and in need of an upgrade but got what I paid for. Very convenient for station could see it out my window. Room was clean enough but sheets did have stains. As a cheap hotel on this points it was fine. My main issue was all the drunk men standing smoking around the entrance when I first got there at 6pm and then at 11pm when I got back from dinner and drinks. Particularly intimidating for a solo fenale when have to pass them to get in as they are standing in doorway presumably have been drinking in the on site bar. One man was very inappropriate and it certainly made me feel uncomfortable. For that reason I would not recommend. This should not be allowed and the reception staff can see the door and people standing in it and should ask them to move along.
You get what you pay for!
Comfort inn is a very outdated building, we we’re disappointed with the quality of the hotel, the windows were falling out of their frames we couldn’t close them properly, there was cigarette burns everywhere, the towel rail was falling off the wall the room had hardly any soundproofing, the gaps beneath the doors was ridiculous, the room smelt quite funky , the bed was hard and 1 pillow . We won’t be staying there again!
Near train station
Better than expected
The place has seen better days but it's well kept, room is large enough, with the usual amenities. Bathroom is spacious with working shower and sink. The entire place is very clean and you can't get a better location than this. There were 2 issues that I raised after seeing the room and they sorted them out right away. It was a pleasant stay, good value for money.
Perfectly fine hotel in great position. Staff really helpful
This hotel was very poorly maintained. It was a bit like staying in a prison.
Not unpleasant but not worth the money.
C.I Birmingham, is exactly that. A comfort inn. So you don’t expect the Ritz. However the overall condition is in dire need of a refit. Paint off the walls. Old carpet. Small televisions. Showers with very poor water pressure. And a bar that looks like it’s from the 60’s. It’s not a ‘bad’ experience. And I would stay again. But for close to £120 for a single room I expected more.
Old building and smells musty, location is good.
Always a great stay , hence why we always return . Friendly staff , clean well located for our needs .
Enjoyed my stay, just didn't sleep too well. Will definitely stay there again though. Everything else was fine and the room was spotless.
Horrible experience
Basic but decent
I had a single room on the top floor. Dated, but perfectly adequate were it not for the fact that without air con and with just a small window it was very very hot. Great shower, though.
Poor condition and much more
Very noisy overlooking main street, very hot, one out of 2 windows opened only slightly. Was given a very old fan. Parking very stressful trying to get out of car park, also room door lock not working so anyone could have walked in.
Room and common areas need cleaning properly and decorating
Good
Always stay here , its central for what we visit for , always friendly and clean and nothing is ever to much trouble .
Every thing you want to see in the city is in the walking distance
Ok place to stay
This is a basic hotel, ok for the price.
Not so Comfort Inn
Room very basic and not worth the £125 paid. Very tired hotel. Lukewarm shower in the morning is being generous. Bathroom stank of cigarettes (smell coming in from outside. Despite being on the 4th floor, there was an accessible (from other roof tops) ledge running outside the room window, this had beer bottles and condoms strewn around. Not pleasant.
The building next door is the train station with the shopping centre ventilation blasting out at all hours. Single glazing and a noisy road and pedestrians too. Decent room with a decent bed but looking tired.
Don't serve food, there's only a bar
My room was clean and everything was provided
Noisy budget accommodation
Stay was for business and wanted to be close to Birmingham New Street Rail station (Comfort Inn is on Station road and very close) too close as the noise from the station was unbearable if accommodated on that side of the hotel (I was) you hear the refuge from the station each morning around 3am! Not pleasant - overall it was ok as a base on a budget but wouldn’t stay there again
Old decor but perfect location our room had a bath and shower but the shower head stand was hanging off the wall needs a make over but happy over all lift really small
Always a pleasure staying at this Hotel , we have come back 3 times now and have booked for next year . Friendly staff , great location , affordable definitely highly recommended .
Perfect for what i needed
It was everything i had expected from a budget hotel. Clean and tidy in a very good spot right outside Bham New Street station.
the most un-comfort inn, carpet is dirty, most like in a blacksmith workshop instead of a hotel room.
The room could of done with some TLC you can tell where the damp patches was TV remote was broken
Really convenient location. Nice big room
Dated hotel and rooms but handy location
Hotel a bit dated, especially in the room with stained roof tiles and poor shower. Bed comfy enough and great location next to the station.
The windows did not provide any sound proofing and it felt like I was sleeping out on the street.
Bad quality
Quality of the hotel and services is very poor for the money paid
The receptionist was very kind and efficient . I wanted a room with certain preferences and the receptionist ensured that I got what I wanted
Comfort inn
Stayed only one night hotel was basic but clean and comfortable
Great hotel
Perfect location next to Birmingham new street station and Bull ring
No air condition the room was extremely hot. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, the design of the room was poor no plugs on either side of the bed and a lot more
Very close to the station, but very run down
Friendly staff, but an antiquated and run-down hotel in desperate need of modernisation. No aircon, so my top-floor room built into the eaves of the building was like an oven. They did at least give me a fan, but only when I asked for one. The ancient sash windows are a struggle ... the one in the bathroom wouldn't stay open, so I had to prop it open with the waste bin. The sloping roof sections in the room and bathroom were ideally placed to bump into all the time. There were no blinds in the bathroom, so the sun was blinding in there. The lift is a rickety old thing with a manual cage door on the ground floor. There weren't enough plug sockets. Basically, being opposite the station is the only thing going for this place. It needs a lot of work doing to it.
The staff that we encountered were very friendly, welcoming The hotel is in need of a facelift both inside and out. We were in room 104 that overlooked the Main Street. It was so noisy you couldn’t have the windows open. Staff did however give us a fan to use The beds were surprisingly comfy but the towel size left little to the imagination, they were very small (need to invest in something better) There is a lift in reception area but you would not fit a wheelchair in there but I don’t know if they had another one somewhere else. We had a drink in the bar area when we arrived but it was not open when we got back as I think it closes at 10pm. There are some conference type rooms to book/use in this hotel. It’s in a great location, opposite the Birmingham New Street station so was ideally suited for our needs.
Great place to stay
Great location friendly staff
Expensive for what it is.
The hotel is in a busy part of the city. The noise from traffic etc outside was constant and made it difficult to sleep. It was a hot weekend so I needed to keep the window open and the noise was just really bad. The room was spacious and relatively clean, but the bathroom was strangely shaped and the shower pressure was not great. For the cost of my stay I was not impressed with the place at all.
Top class great price
The location is great. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was spotless with handrails in the bathroom which were really useful as was the lift. Good wi fi signal. Definitely recommend
Conveniently located close to train center and downtown Victoria square (within 5 minutes of walk)! Knowledgeable and friendly staff. There’s no AC, and could hear the traffic noise. Both were not bothering me. Close to several Asian restaurants. There’s a lift! Would stay here again!
Next to New St station so it's central but hectic
