This property is spotless both in the rooms and the well kept grounds. The owner, Cheryl, is really friendly and gave us great information about the town and area. We used the BBQ for which she supplied tools, paper towels and spices. You can also do your laundry and either use a dryer or hang them on the line. The rooms are spacious and well equipped with plates, cutlery, pots, pans etc. Sky TV provides multiple channels. The internet is really fast. I would highly recommend this property for multiple night stays. - or just one night.

Everything Amazing

From the moment we arrived, it was a pleasure to stay at Colonial Manor, Cromwell. Reception staff were very friendly and professional, showing us to our room on the ground floor, as we had put in a request for. The room was spacious, recently renovated and had everything we required for our stay. The king size bed was very comfortable, the shower lovely and hot, and the room nice and cosy. Motel is within walking distance of shopping and dining. Definitely enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone looking for a lovely place to stay.

Spacious rooms.

We stayed on our way further south. The motel has a lovely outlook of trees. There is an outdoor BBQ for guest use and plenty of restaurants nearby. Staff were super friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, clean and had everything you’d need. Bathrooms have recently been updated. Great spot to stay in Cromwell.

Absolutely lovely property! Super close to the shops - walked there and also the park with my daughter. The lady in reception - assuming owner or manager - was not only friendly and welcoming, but personally escorted us to the room, showed us around and where everything was and just made us feel so welcome. It was lovely to sit outside in the sun, enjoying a Central Otago rose - in Central Otago, with picnic tables set up in the gardens. The room had everything we needed for our one night stopover, with cooktop and microwave would be easily suitable for a few days.

I have stayed in some motels recently and this is by far the most enjoyable one I have been in. The feeling I got from the staff and the owner is that they actually care about their guests - they are not just a number. Facilities are excellent and very clean and well looked after. Will definitely stay again.

A very nice clean and comfortable motel. Large room with all the amenities including full Sky TV channels. Certainly worth it's rating.

Such a nice wee motel beautiful grounds

they expected guest cleaned up when leaving. we left some empty beer bottles and other things on table and ground. they angrily called our cellphone( international calls are costly). requested we returned and complained to us. but never mentioned we left clothing in bathroom( we noticed this later). very bad attitude

The room is tidy and good size with standard motel as they mention in advertising. Only parking lot liitle bit tight for family vehicle. Recomended motel to stay.

Easy to find. I was welcomed by a very friendly staff member or owner. Briefly chatted about where I had been & what I could do in Cromwell before I left, as this was really a flying visit. I asked for any recommendations where I might eat. They gave me a name. My room was clean, quiet & comfortable. Just what you want. Comforatble bed. Overlooked the motels garden. Sky TV, Wifi. Above all that, the friendly attitude stays with me the most. Thoroughly recommend the Colonial Manor for your stay in Cromwell.

Wonderful place to stay. Clean, comfortable, quiet. We loved it as we were able to use it for a base to explore the area. Lovely people run it. We are planning to return next year. Can thoroughly recommend it.

The Quilt was synthetich so we could not breath.

Centrally situated, and position to provide quiet restful surroundings. Great outdoor facilities with BBQ and seating.

Central to everything, room was clea, brght and welcomig. Only thing we didn't like was that the bed was extremely hard.

This property was modern and spacious with a beautiful garden. It lacked a cooktop and kitchen sink. I did not like doing food prep and dishes in the bathroom sink.

Super nice and warm hosts, changed our room immediately when we want to swap a king bed to 2 queen beds. 10G wifi data per day. Walking distance to a plaza.

I didn’t like the TV it was far too small and too low If you charge big money you should supply good gear People were going up and down stairs all night Staff member walked in on us in morning at 9 am while we were getting dressed,the key was in the door ,BUT YOU ALWAYS KNOCK FIRST Milk was pathetic too

No ice tray which is normal and Sheryl went out of her way to accomadate this,she made her own and bought it to our room,legend,also got an upgrade,very nice views,all sky channels,clean and tidy,very very helpfull staff,when in Cromwell again wouldn,t stay anywhere else.

Cheryl was very attentive and considerate. I’m pleased with the fact that she asked for confirmation before charging my card as we were checking-in after hours. Other motels usually charge you on the day even if it says pay at the property. The room was huge, has easy access to parking which made carrying stuff easy. It is also very clean including linens, etc. The kitchen is bigger than most and had everything we need. The bed was super comfy and after days of long hikes we felt very rested we actually overslept. The internet is very reliable and speed is great! So far in my two weeks in the South Island this has been my favourite stay. Thanks Cheryl!

Generally a clean, pleaseant room. The one glaring ommision was a decent heater. Just a flat panel heater on the wall. This would have been totally inadequate if the weather had been cooler. Cromwell can get cold, so a decent heater would is essential.

Beautiful place, nice clean room and easy walking distance to wineries and restaurants.

The staff were very welcoming. Nice pleasant outlook.

They called us during our trip to advise unit was ready. A cold snap had dropped temps so the unit was all cosy for our arrival.

It was very neat and clean. The room was quite warm. Amenities were good. Bed was very comfortable. Parking the car without getting on the lawn is a challenge.

We liked everything about it. The only slightly negative point was the 2½ pages of rules. We;re guessing the owners have had some unfortunate experiences with previous tenants, but the multiple rules were rather over the top.

The property has a beautiful front garden and bbq area with wooden tables and chairs. Marie at the front desk was friendly and accommodating. The room was immaculate and comfortable, with all the amenities you would need, including a french press, microwave and fridge. Free Wifi was easy to connect to and worked well. The property was close to everything, including a good selection of eateries. We were happy with our one night stay and would definitely recommend this Motel

It was lovely to visit the Colonial Manor again. Its central location is excellent and its proximity to the walking vineyard tour is also great. The change in ownership has not affected the charm and personality of the place, and the friendly staff are amazing. The upgrades that have happened since we last stayed are great, and I’m sure everything will continue to improve even further over time! Thank you so much for a lovely stay

Nice motel but not good for families

Great location and pleasant motel but was pretty disappointed with the attitude around use of cooking facilities. A $50 bond was expected if cooking facilities were being used. A family doesn't live on restaurant meals and this put a sour taste in our mouths. Wouldn't stay there again. I have never in 45 years of staying in motels in NZ been asked for a bond for using cooking facilities before. Not a practice to be encouraged.

Excellent stay

Very enthusiastic owners who had only been there for three months and were looking forward to air conditioning units and new curtaining being installed within a few weeks, however the fan in our room was silent and kept us cool. Our upstairs room had a lovely view over the delightful garden to the side of the property. Altogether a very comfortable stay.

A pleasant second, now first to Queenstown!

We have never been to Cromwell and were delighted with the motel and the area. We were well situated for any outdoor activities as well as a good location for shopping, restaurants, etc. The hosts were very helpful and exceedingly friendly. We would recommend this property without hesitation and plan to stay again but for a longer duration.
