The beach towels were clean. However, filthy beyond belief, stains on the sheets, bugs in the bed when you turn down the sheets, and mold everywhere: on the vanity countertop, bathroom floors, shower tiles, shower curtain, and even backed-up water in the tub. Just disgusting. There was also a heavy smell of mold mixed with an unidentifiable stench. The staff showed clear favoritism toward “certain” guests, and only a few members were remotely accommodating. This place is the epitome of false advertising. There’s absolutely nothing luxurious about it. The lobby furniture was old, chipped, and in desperate need of paint and cleaning. The entire property seemed rundown and in dire need of repair. The gift shops had an overwhelming musty odor. I truly feel for the staff who have to work there all day. If you enjoy loud street noises at night, this is the place for you. I didn’t feel safe here at all. The door lacked a latch, and there were no security staff visible. While the hotel grounds were relatively clean, the walkways and paths leading to the hotel were filthy and in need of power washing. The building itself had a cracked facade, and the fixtures throughout were outdated and poorly maintained. Lastly, the entire hotel needs a complete overhaul. It’s unsanitary, outdated, and in desperate need of a facelift. This was the worst hotel stay I’ve ever had. I’m genuinely shocked that Expedia gave this place such a high rating—did they even visit or stay? Extremely disappointed!
The location & access to the beach was excellent! The water in front of the beach was well protected & easy to swim in. The room was newly painted. The bathroom seemed a little dated but everything worked well. The breakfast had a lot of choices, eggs made to order in the spot.
Our toilet did not work and the room was dirty the first night we stayed there. It was a very difficult night without a functional toilet. They moved us to another room after much discussion. We asked for some sort of compensation to cover the major inconvenience of not having a functioning toilet but the hotel refused to provide any compensation or adjustments for that night.
Coco Reef Resort, Tobago. Lacking value for money
Can an hotel be awarded minus stars? If it could, i would make the Coco Reef Resort a minus -4 star hotel. Coco Reef Resort is an, at best +2 star hotel masquerading as a 4+star hotel. The only thing going for this place is the view/location. The whole hotel is tired and listless. The staff, many, surly and unengaging. Only one or two of the staff could be called friendly. Paintings of ladies with large eyes all over the premises, particularly the one in our room, very off putting and weird. What's wrong with a local nature scene? The room, certainly tired and basic. Luckily we got a bar of soap and a couple towels. Shower, an embarassment. Most of the water leaked into drain, weak flow and tepid water. Noisy fridge, no mini bar. No milk to accompany the kettle and teabags. The grounds maintenance is done in dribs and drabs, so the 'relaxing' holiday is puncuated with the sound of strimmers and leaf blowers at any given time of day and every day. My dish, at the only dinner we had, was not fit to be served to the paying public. A 5 year old made my seafood penne but forgot the seafood apart from a dried up scallop and two mussles that probably died of old age and had the rubbery texture to prove it. I was both hungry and pissed off at the same time. Late checkout expensive at $US for 6 hours. Bit rich as hotel was almost empty.🙄 Everything in this hotel is expensive when quality is compared to price. Nothing is value for money. Owners clearly do not visit
The private beach makes your stay here perfect. Great options for vegetarians at the restaurant.
Can't complain at all. Food was exceptional and tasty. There was free snorkeling amd kayaking among other activities at the resort. Staff was amazing. Hotel was clean and conveniently located near all fast food places and walking distance to the airport. Would definitely recommend!
The altough well kept, upgrading the property will make it marvelous.
Could be So so much better
Ok for 1 night but a tired property with staff that seemed disinterested. Very strange. Lovely grounds and location though. Needs an overhaul and will be beautiful. AC was warm. Breakfast was very good. It each and every member of staff were disengaged from human interaction. Very odd- May need more customer support training?
The ambience was fantaastic.
Firstly they didn’t have our Expedia booking which made the check in process very difficult. Rooms were outdated and bedding didn’t look fresh. Bathroom was awful, taps were corroded and floors were dirty. There was no wifi in the rooms ! Only in the lobby. The tv in the room was also broken ! And so was the hairdryer on the last day. This was very irritating as kids were stuck in room without entertainment. Generally, we got the sense that there has been little investment into the hotel which is very evident as soon as you arrive.
This was a nice resort and a great vacation. The area is very walkable and safe, and the hotel is right on the beach. Out of all the options in Tobago, of which we drove around and saw most, this is the hotel we would stay at again. Thank you to the kind staff. If I could suggest anything, it would be to improve the on resort lunch and dinner offerings. Breakfast was great. Lunch/Dinner food is good, but they know it is overpriced
Didn't like the enclosed sea bed, mushy and morsy. Didn't like maintainance condition of the lawn tennis facility and bushy access path. Didn't like wanting to use beach volley ball facility but no balls available on whole premises to be used.
Great location, lovely beach, beautiful view of the sea. Friendly staff, always willing to help.
I have stayed many times at this resort every time it was great but this stay was unsatisfactory the room was dark poor lighting roach on the floor the room was not clean properly
The service was excellent the hotel was well kept. Clean and peaceful. Highly recommended. The Dinner was however a bit disappointing. But breakfast was excellent.
Could use some modernization.
Private beach available for personnel staying at the hotel. Nice swimming pool, lovely garden.
Checkout delayed, room appallingly ran down, shockingly overpriced. Absolutely would not recoomend.
hi, first of all the daily rates were very high compare to other hotels, and I was expecting a much more renovated hotel I visited like 8 yrs ago.My biggest issue was, we had gotten 3 rooms and when we were checking out, they told us a room key was missing. We were never told that any lost keys will have an additional cost. This is the 1st time we ever have to pay for a room key which i find is ridiculous. The hotel is very old, ac unit cannot was small and could not have the room cold, the breakfast was limited especially with fruits. Would not recommend anyone to go there. Pretty hotel from outside but old and run down from inside. Wifi is only in lobby, and in lobby no ac.
Good resort, a bit dated in terms of decor. I like the private beach and water activities. The food was a letdown. I’ll give breakfast a 5/10 and lunch and dinner 3/10… decided to eat out for the rest of the stay
Arrived at the hotel and though I paid for the booking with Expedia on August 8th the Hotel had no record of our stay from 26th August and the only option was to pay again or find alternative accommodation. This was after waiting over an hour for a room while the hotel chased what happened with Expedia. Still out of pocket.
The grounds were pristine and beautifully kept by the gardeners -worthy of an award. The staff were very helpful, very polite and welcoming. The rooms were rundown and grimy, and the food in the restaurant was poor. Trumites or woodworms were eating the tables. The one I ate at on the only night I ate in the restaurant was crumbling away under the tablecloth, and the grime on the restaurant chairs was disgusting. I don't want to blame the staff for any of the poor conditions because I suspect there has been no real investment in the place in years. All-in-all, it was grossly overpriced, a disssapointing experience and I would never stay there again.
This place is beautiful but that’s it The bedding and linen I feels like 100 yrs old and never washed There are cockroaches in every room The staff is the absolute worst they are so unprofessional
Nice property
Beautiful property but lacking in general maintenance. Others had the same comments. Balcony door couldn’t lock and I didn’t have any hot water. Staff were generally very good. I only went into the sea once during a five night stay as it was full of seaweed (it looked like a sewer had overflowed!). I presume this is because they have blocked off an area which stops the water flowing.
The staff were very accommodating and welcoming.
property was amazing
Ok
staff was very friendly
The best
Very nice, good service highly recommend. The staff was very friendly and accommodating .
Garden
Excellent property Food was much better our last visit
This property isn’t well maintained or managed. I had to leave the property to shower daily even after being promised that in a new room the water issue would be resolved when I requested to end my stay with them early.
The good: - Great location and easy access to the main strip and proximity to airport. - Welcome drink at the resort was delicious. - Warm welcome and attendees were very hospitable on a daily basis. - Great breakfast (Variety of offerings and home cool selection). - Easy access to private beach and pool on the premises. - Adequate room and great views to the beach. - Clean resort and well kept scenery. The Bad: - Small TV in the room. - Outdated access to the rooms. The doors need to be upgraded with more modernize key card access. - Utensils in the room (spoons for the coffee) needs to be upgrade. - WiFi was offered but seems to work in the reception area and nearby surroundings. As soon as you walk to your room access was disconnected. - Better control of insects in the room (for example ants in the bathroom, and around bed area). There was an insecticide spray in the room when used kept the ants at bay.
I love the fact that I felt very safe with my family. The beach was lovely and my grandson absolutely loved everything and had the best time.
Our experience at Coco Reef Resort had its share of ups and downs. Despite booking two separate rooms through Expedia for my sister and my family, only her reservation was confirmed upon arrival. We were initially told there might not be room for us. Eventually, the hotel found a room for us but initially asked for payment greater than what was originally through Expedia - and that I would need to subsequently get a refund from Expedia. It took a couple of hours and some effort with an Expedia agent, but the issue was eventually resolved. Expedia sent the payment, and we got the room at the original price. I'd suggest booking directly with the hotel to avoid such complications in the future. However, throughout the crappy situation, the staff remained polite, although I would have preferred the problem to be handled more expeditiously. The hotel is quite dated, but our stay had many positive aspects. The resort's proximity to the airport was convenient, especially since we didn't have to worry about transporting car seats for the kids. The quality and variety of the food at the resort was excellent, and the beach area was simply stunning. The sandy shoreline was shaded by coconut trees, offering relief from the sun's heat. The calm waters of the lagoon-like beach were perfect for the kids, as there were no waves to contend with. Additionally, we appreciated the complimentary use of kayaks / paddle boards. Booking issues aside, we enjoyed our stay at Coco Reef Resort.
DO NOT STAY HERE. You will get the Old Plantation Vibe. The matching floral prints ont the lap shades, bedspreads... will make you nauseous. This is the most DATED, old ran down property I have ever experienced. YOU CANNOT TAKE A SHOWER THE WATER PRESSURE IS SO LOW. You literally have to stand close to the wall and try and catch the drips of water coming from the shower. When you go to make complaints the front desk is apparently trained to say they are hearing these things for the first time. After I was told they have no idea about the shower, another guest came to the front desk and stated "You'll were supposed to move me since yesterday I have no water pressure in my shower". It smells like mold, the food is horrible. It was so bad we left prior to our departure date. We asked for some of our money back and they refused. Do yourself a favor do not visit this run down property. If you have any standards this is not the place to be. Let me make mention that although the workers appear to be working on a PLANTATION, the staff were mostly pleasant even working in such a horrible environment. Do yourself a favor do not go here. They need to take some money and update this hotel because it is ridiculous in 2024 they are still living in the early 1900's. Plantations are OVER.
The beach was wonderful.
Property was great but Mr. Mohammed the General manager was very rude and made us feel very unpleasant. Would only go back if he ever gets fired from there.
I have been staying at Coco Reef for over a decade now. I have always loved the place, and have a good relationship with the staff. However the place is simply getting old and, more importantly, tired. They really need to do a refurbishment of the rooms and facilities. One only gets a single key for each room, which is quite inconvenient when there are two people staying in the room. The Television is positively ancient, the WiFi anywhere but in the lobby is unreliable and weak (They say that they only guarantee WiFi in the lobby! Really? In 2024?) and the restaurants have the same menu they did in 2008. The staff is always friendly and I enjoy the breakfast buffet every morning (included ont he room price), but otherwise almost never eat at the main restaurant, preferring to venture out onto the street and search for something to eat (lots of choices out there, and while it may seem a bit rough, it is actually quite safe and accommodating). The price of food at the main restaurant is quite high for the quality - I have never been on the all inclusive plan since the thought of being captive to the very limited choice does not appeal to me at all. There are much better restaurants all around, lower prices, better food, and, importantly, some variety. So, overall, I have a soft spot for Coco Reef, but unless they get a solid refresh in the next little while I will certainly start to look for other options. Having said that, if you need somewhere reliable and safe, stay here
DO NOT STAY HERE! This property is very expensive and is in terrible shape. I have never stayed in such a rundown hotel. The internet doesn’t work, the place is covered in mold and smells of urine and really needs to be demolished. The only good thing is the beach. This is a 1 star hotel at best charging insanely high prices. I can’t emphasize enough how disgusting this hotel is. We couldn’t wait to leave.
Very limited on vegetarian options.
seel safe and quiet. need to fix shower and Wi-Fi systems..
Not worth the money
Property is dated, needs some updating. The shower was clogged. Didn’t like the room that we got. I have stayed at Coco Reef a few times, but was a little disappointed with the accommodations!
Tropical charm.close to airports and has great buffet breakfast, not forgetting the fantastic beach
This property has been neglected, and is in desperate need of upgrades. The rooms are decades outdated. There were not enough towels in the rooms. The hotel is short staffed. Except for the women who prepare breakfast, the staff is generally unfriendly. The beach is pristine, but you can get pristine beaches anywhere for less money, and better service.
The shower and faucet in the bathroom leaked all the time. The mini fridge made noise and kept my family up at night. Checked in at 9pm there was no one to help with the luggage from the taxi or to the room.
Tobago as a whole was dissapointing. The amenities are lacking for tourists. The resort was beautifully located but the maintenance was below standard and the resort looked old. There was limited dining on the property and limited dining opportunities nearby.
Great location, really nice staff!
I liked the grounds around the property, however, there was no air condition except in the bedroom, place was very humid, television reception in the bedroom was terrible and the staff was not very helpful
Excellent location, minutes from the airport, with its own private beach. Breakfast was excellent. ALL members of staff are friendly and welcoming. I would certainly stay here again when in Tobago.
The bedroom and bathroom needs a revamp. Please tear down all wallpapers with flowers! Other than everything was perfect. Staff were accommodating and friendly. Love the breakfast layout every morning. Private beach❤️❤️❤️
First I received a beach front upgrade on arrival. Then the staff were warm and fuzzy. Breakfast was worth getting up for and dinners were set for royalty. I didn’t leave the hotel, there was no need to. Coco Reef is perfect for rest, relaxation, beautiful sunsets and superb food including freshly juiced vegetables and fruit at breakfast.
Beautiful property. The manager Paul and Head of guest relations Tracy made sure we were welcome guests. There is a wonderful swimming area. surrounded by a jetty which was so serene. The open air dining area provided a great view of the sea. They even have a helipad for people who do not want to fly commercial from Trinidad. A 1976 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith II on display at the entrance suggested old world elegance. This was our first visit to the country. Very diverse population. People were warm and welcoming.
Property needs facelift. Rooms, dining menu choices. Otherwise great place with friendly and attentive staff
Coco Reef will always be one of my favorite places to stay in Tobago.
The staff is very friendly!!
There were cockroach in the room
Beautiful setting and property but it is need of a face lift. Obviously due to Covid things have been hard but it really could do with some work.
This hotel grounds are extremely beautiful. Beach is the best we've been too in Tobago. The hotel itself is very dated and the showers has very little pressure could use an upgrade but the location and beach balaces out. Its our favorite resort.
Washrooms needs to be upgraded it in a deplorable condition including the water flow
The property is beautiful, loved being on the beach and the entertainment was just a few steps away. But the property needs some love. A paint job, and some other upgrades to highlight the beauty of the property. I didn't like the fact that I booked 2 double bed rooms. I get there and they have 2 rooms each with 1 bed. 5 ppl. 3 girls 2 guys. The girls stayed in one room the guys in another. They claimed there were no other rooms available, where we could of gotten an additional room because of the single beds situation. Our girls room had a water leak in the bathroom right over the toilet. They tried to change our room the night before we were to check out. Didn't understand how they could when they told us they didn't have an extra room the night before. I am easy going and make difficult situation work, but I don't like paying for something and not getting what I paid for.
Apart from the convenient location to local vibes, there is not much to like about Coco Reef Resort and Spa. The place is outdated and unkept. They didn't have enough beach towels. The spa is shut down. Onsite shops remained closed our entire visit. Rotting wood and rusty metal throughout the resort. The entire wait staff in restaurant has Slave Mentality; meaning that as a brown couple we were treated as if we didn't pay the same money as the white Europeans, who received far more attention. We had to ask for things and wave them down to get offered coffee and refills at breakfast, wine and refills at dinner, they didn't bring bread to the dinner table, nor did they offer water. I mentioned to one of the ladies that "we just want to be treated like you are treating the white people", and after reflecting on their behavior she apologized. On top of that, the beach water there is cold because of a barrier placed about 50 meters out to control waves. The food was actually descent, but it is hard to mess up breakfast and we only ate dinner there once because it was Carnival and plenty of restaurants are within walking distance. The grounds were also well kept.
The resort was in poor condition nothing worked - the toilet was not flushing, amenities in the room were very poor!! We felt as though we were robbed and would be reaching out further regarding payment.
After being in Trinidad for 1 month it was nice to stay at the Coco Reef in Tobago for a weekend getaway. The one thing we noticed right away was no music in the restaurant or common areas, only the chants of the colorful local birds and the breaking of the waves on the private protected bay. Nature's music was the best part. We found the breakfast buffet lacked fruit selection and we didn't notice replenishment when it was running low. Otherwise our stay was nice.
Piss poor late check in again. Have been waiting in lobby for 1hr and still cant get a room
Piss poor late check in...still waiting to be checked in
I have been going to Coco Reef for many years and still love the place. This was my first trip back since Covid and the good news is not much has changed. The not so good news, not much has changed. The property is definitely beginning to show its age. It is aging gracefully, but aging nonetheless. This is more than offset by the excellent, welcoming, friendly and efficient staff. Anyone who travels in the Caribbean, especially in Trinidad and Tobago will tell you that excellent, competent and friendly staff is not to be taken for granted. Well, here you can! The Tamares restaurant doesn’t really seem to have changed its menus in 10 years. To be fair, they haven’t changed their prices either. They were high ten years ago, they are still high now. We eat one dinner there the evening we arrive and eat dinner elsewhere for the rest of the trip. I would recommend you do the same. You can get better food for less, or even excellent food for comparable prices. For breakfast, on the other hand, Tamares is hard to beat, especially the buffet and local food. The beach is still a peaceful, calm oasis in the middle of a busy world. Its quite private and just a short walk down from your room to the front desk for towels, then down to the sand. Overall, we had a great time and look forward to returning!
My only dissatisfaction was the breakfast. It was rather disappointing.
Considering the price of USD 360/night, the standard is worn and outdated. The sun chairs are very old. We didn’t get beach towels because they were out, despite only having about 8 people on the beach (cloudy mixed with rain). The food I’d rate at 2 out of 5. At best. The pizza was terrible. Greasy, undercooked and not made with proper pizza dough. Breakfast is bland and monotone. Some staff charming and some dull. They were out of towels for our room, too!! We had to wait 6 hours to get towels so we could shower. I feel sorry for how tourism have suffered due to Covid but the price is outrageous for what you get. The location is great though!
This property is marketed as a luxury resort , which is furthest from the truth!!! Our Room drapes were full of mould. Blanket felt like sand paper , sheets were dirty and there was shortage of towels
It was my first time there and 2nd time for my fiance. He wanted to see if there were any upgrades since his last visit there some years ago. Needless to say that he was disappointed! He said that IF they maintained the building as they did the grounds then it would have been a plus...but.. For me, it wasn't a WOW!! I have stayed in other places in Tobago for less money and was beautiful. What I loved though was the privacy of the beach.
This place is outdated and too expensive .
The surrounding area of the property was well maintained. Everyone was courteous....very helpful. Will definitely go back
The property was probably amazing back in the 1980’s. And nothing has been touched since. The bathtub fills up with water every time you shower. The WiFi is VERY spotty. The furniture is old and dated. There’s a sewer smell when you pass through the little area with stores. The beach towels are old and stained and worn. I was extremely dissatisfied with the room charge of $400 per night, but definitely fell WAY short of that price’s expectations.
Good location. Needs upgrading
I loved that this hotel was walking distance from the airport and just next door to store bay.
Some renovation required to bring back the victorian feel while not being just old. Beach security needs improvement as well as housekeeping. Breakfast options can be improved.
The grounds are beautifully maintained and comfortable. Feels safe, friendly staff, clean, comfortable and quiet room. Check in was not a great experience, it would seem my booking was cancelled by expedia without my consent and rebooked on the same day under another 3rd party. Hotel says this was not their doing. So I did not get the room I booked. Staff is very friendly, but communication among them is poor. Several important requests involving our stay were acknowledged but did not happen because they were not communicated to the other staff. Breakfast, although included, was a little disappointing compared to the buffet that was paid for and expected. The stopping of the buffet should have been communicated to guests. Other than that, we were happy with the stay and the willingness of staff to help.
The property is run down. The TV in the room was not working. The room was far and upstairs with no assistance to take our suitcases. The front desk attendee did not assist in this respect. More maintenance work needs to be done and more organisation at the front desk is needed. But the people wer normally very friendly and accomodating otherwise.
The building was amazing. I felt safe and its very clean. I didn't like the room keys system because I had problems getting the keys to our room for 2 days and I felt that 1 key can open more than 1 room.
The general concept is lovely for families and kids. However the entire hotel should look into upgrading especially the rooms and bathrooms and cleanliness. Food was good they can peon seek varying the menu on days. Customer service not grand
Need updates
We loved the beach front. Location, location, location! and the pool. The food was good although small portions and expensive and no fish items during the week at breakfast. When we first arrived there were view guests and the food portions were small but adequate however as soon as more guests arrived the portions became smaller. This was noticed by other guests we spoke to. The hotel is in walking distance to an excellent family owned restaurant called the Brown Bear. The food was incredible and reasonable. There is also great gift shopping in walking distance. One staff Tracy stood out she went above and beyond. She allowed us early check in and was our point person when she was there. A few days into our stay my husband could not stop sneezing in the room due to a musty smell which was evident when the air conditioner wasn’t on. We were allowed to change rooms. They upgraded us to a nicer room with an ocean view which was great although we had very little hot water pressure in the shower and also the tub was not draining properly. We called for maintenance on 2 occasions however they did not fix the problem. There were a few staff like Tracy who were extremely helpful although most were not esp in the restaurant and housekeeping area. There was always a long wait for housekeeping and being served in the restaurant. There appeared to be a serious lack in communication among the staff. Some staff would ask us if we needed help but then would not follow thru.
The staff was terrible tried to make me pay for and extra room because they said my booking was for and adult and a kid but i came with my 1yesr old whoa not on the booking and its over room capacity. The room had a two queen beds
The location is the only good thing about this hotel
The pandemic has caused reduced staff. Our room was not cleaned one day. We had to call the front desk for toilet paper and we had to clean the room ourselves including disposal of garbage outside where there were only a few barbage bins.
As you drive through the landscaped and manicured grounds, enter the open, airy reception area, you are greeted by the pristine waters of the Caribbean Sea and it is evident that this property was once majestic. The location cannot be beat, you can walk from the airport. The private beach is stunning, calm, clear and there are many beautiful fish to see near the rocks. This is the only thing that draws me here. The bones of the property are quite beautiful and the attention to detail is admired but it is past the point of having old Caribbean charm. It is so dated that it feels like a museum and has a signature old musty smell. It is relatively clean but the age cannot be hidden, especially in the bathrooms which are unpleasant. The room is poorly lit, old small shaky bed with a warped mattress and two small worn out pillows. The ceilings on the second floor are very low compared to ground floor rooms. I honestly don’t know if I can ever spend another night there. There’s an eerie feeling because you can see and feel it withering away and there are few guests as well. The foul smell in the corridor by the shops need to be addressed. I am genuinely saddened to see such a glorious hotel fall into disrepair. The hotel staff are nice but not at international standard. Tamara’s servers are unprofessional and appear irritated. Food was subpar. Would be delighted to return if renovated, I don’t know if it’s worth the price as is.
I didn’t like the no wheel chair access to the property , but the hotel was very well preserved , clean and the grounds are immaculate
Close off time for the pool was very early...6pm. This gives not much time to relax after a day at the beach.
There was nothing really unique about the property , but it was well kept and very quiet.
This place is in a lovely location, the streets look a bit rough but it is a wonderful place The hotel needs a bit of TLC
Beautiful place & surroundings with gorgeous grounds, delightful private beach. Superb facilities. Breakfast options had no limits. Lunch on the BBQ was really good. Loved the views. Bathrooms need big refurb, very tired. Forgetting to make up the room or provide towels after several requests was inexcusable.
Ok so I chose this property because I wanted a place that had direct access to the ocean. Coco Reef did not disappoint in this area. It has a beautiful beach that looks exactly as pictured. Actually all of the grounds surrounding the property is gorgeous. Although the property itself is quite dated (old furnishings, fixtures, bedding, crumbling grout, etc.) and in dire need of a renovation, it is very clean. You can tell it was quite beautiful in its heyday. Besides the beach and lush gardens, the property is steps away from local bars and restaurants which is a lifesaver since the food at the property was not good and the service was sloooooooow. The only decent food was at the breakfast buffet which was complimentary every morning. Not sure if that is with every room or if I paid extra. Overall it was a pleasant stay at Coco Reef mainly because of the beautiful beach and proximity to nightlife.
The owner of the property obviously has a captured audience as there are but many hotels in Tobago. The premises are dated to say the least and not well maintained. Upon entering my room, I was greeted with a can of ‘BOP’, an insecticide spray can! The staff were not very accommodating and unfortunately, I got the feeling they were unfortunately complying with management’s warped vision of resort hospitality in fear of otherwise not having a job. Definitely will not come back here.
room and amenities were poor. Room smelled musty. Lights were blown in the room. TV cable reception was poor. TV stopped working. Ants in bathroom and on balcony. Not enough pillows. terrible wifi connection in my room which did not work well.
The whole property is absolutely beautiful starting from the well landscaped grand entrance to the open air lobby with a straight ocean view and beautiful art featuring local ladies portraits, to the large rooms with private patios (ours facing the pool and the ocean behind, plus the sunset!). The private beach with chairs, drink service, fresh water rinse, a restaurant and a dive shop on site were great but the highlight was the man-made lagoon protected from waves but adopted by lots of marine life. Very easy to snorkel around and see all the common Caribbean reef fish! The breakfast buffet with an egg station at Tamarac restaurant was excellent, however both lunch&dinner at Bacchanal were a little below average in terms of service and food (we did not try the $30 lunch buffet but ordered off the limited menu). Everywhere else the service was impeccable, and both the rooms and common areas are very clean and beautiful. WiFi was weak/spotty in the room but worked well in the lobby and restaurants. Definitely recommend!
Love the private beach and view. Bathrooms could use an upgrade. But overall we will be back.!

During our stay, we noticed is an old but fine hotel. The private beach is definely the plus. Our experience when asking questions wasnt great; the personnel looked confused, not well trained. They didn't know about expedia discount. The breakfast buffet is from 7 to 10, we went around 9 and there was no fruit, no side dishes, luckily the omelette chef was still there. We asked for 2 pina coladas and one rum and coke (smal plastic cup) and was charged 27.31USD. Beer outside the hotel is 2USD and drinks 4/5USD not 9.
