outside during the night can hear loud late night drinkers cursing and yelling every night till 2 am!

This was a nice stay. We loved having a full kitchen, and the bed was very comfortable. We were able to walk to nice restaurants.

It was really good very great place to stay. Lots to see nearby just a walk away markets and shops.

You can look at the area as run down and a little seedy, or as working class and a historical district with wonderful architecture. Comfortable accommodations, with plenty of email communication to let you know how to get in and out of the suites (there is no lobby for check in). I'd stay here again.

The need to contact property in advance for parking could have been made a bit clearer.

I encountered a bit of confusion in terms of finding the entrance in relation to parking, but one quick phone call settled everything. The front desk worker was very friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable and the room had everything a person would need. One suggestion: have a sheet in the closet for people that can’t sleep with a duvet or comforter in warm weather.

Everything was very good but need more detailed instructions for entry code. The code only works if you enter it slowly as a person working on next building was able to help me get in

Fabulous room!

Lovely suite room located in a beautiful old building in Saint John. Fabulously appointed and in a great location. In particular, it has everything needed to cook a small meal in your room. Highly recommend.

It’s a great location. We loved the suite and great customer service. Parking was convenient.

Very nice building with lots of character. Not a great part of town but within walking distance of everything up town. We had to call to get the bedsheets replaced as they had a poop stain on them. We also had to call because we booked 2 nights but we’re only confirmed for one. Both of these issues were fixed right away with no problems. Also had a little trouble getting into the building but called and they were very helpful. If they updated their notes on how to access the front doors this would not have been an issue. We would potentially stay at another one of the company’s properties.

Quiet, very clean and cozy. A great getaway for parwnts for Valentines Day. My wife loved the jets in the bath.

Historic building, nicely decorated (there was a print of the College building I attended and was married in at the College of William and Mary right outside my door). Prime location, ideal for attending functions at the major hotels, within a 1 - 4 block scenic walk.

Everything was as pictured/advertised. The room, bath, hallway gleamed they were so clean. I wish my home was so immaculate. We had a kitchen with all immplements had we chosen to cook. Loved the Cuisinart toaster. Having access to a free laundry room was an unexpected perk. 👍👌😎

It was a lovely room with extremely comfy bed and pillows. The entire building and our room was rather European and old- fashioned in a good way with all the modern updates and amenities. The neighborhood is walkable to restaurants and whatever you might need close by. I recommend the Italian restaurant across the street as well. 1 Chipman Hill is a class act.

The location was amazing. We walked to everything. I couldn't have been happier with our room! It was a home away from home.

Nice location, room was adequate. No parking available. This is difficult for those that are not familiar with navigating through downtown. We had to park three blocks from the property. The beds are very hard, if you like that. Also, the loud city street cleaner goes by the building three times at 3AM and shakes the building. Lovely area, but we will stay in a traditional hotel next time.

Amazing value!

Our stay was awesome! Some construction in the area but it was barely noticeable as the sidewalks are still accessible and they were not working during our stay. The room is so well appointed with cutlery, pots and pans. Great place! Look forward to my next stay here.

I loved the historical building and the amazingly comfortable bed. The usual parking was not available due to nearby construction but the host communicated this very well and secured parking near the building which was really helpful.

beautiful building and property....very well appointed....good location,....however, it was hot. small window unit could not keep up with the warm weather that they had, and this weather was unusual for the area. Our room was very warm.....

Other than the tiny parkade it was a cozy comfortable room. Loved the bed. Very clean.

Excellent Stay

I always love my business stays at Chipman Hill Suites when I’m in Saint John. The location is excellent as I have easy access to the city’s pedway and many great restaurants. The staff is always over the top friendly and very helpful. I highly suggest Chipman Hill Suites when visiting Saint John!

Charming property! Spotless, convenient location,

I was somewhat fearful of this stay in that I have never encountered so many instructions on how to access our room, parking and such in an overnight stay. I do understand from a security standpoint though. Our suite was fantastic! The perfect place for an extended stay. We were there for one night only but were delighted with the hotel and dinner at the Cask & Kettle and breakfast the next morning at Cora's. Chipman Hill Suites was a wonderful stay!

Great St John Suite

This suite was perfect for us to regroup after camping at Keji in Nova Scotia. The suite was charmingly furnished, clean and well stocked with everything we needed. We could walk to many good restaurants and shops. I would recommend this to any one looking for a good downtown St John location. We will definitely be back.

It was ok- wouldn't return for the price we laid.

The room itself was clean and comfortable. In order to use the laundry facilities I had to keep checking and found both washer and dryer full of hotel linens well after 4:00 pm. I finally folded, then dried, then folded all the linens. The wifi and TV reception were awful. The location is central to downtown area but our room was over Union Street which was very noisy and we needed to run the fan all night to drown out the traffic noise.

Separate charge for parking alarm clock did not work no front desk, no wake-up call available wanted to charge us for the return of an article left in the room no clean towels the second day wet bath mat left on the floor, not picked up they tried to charge us for damage to the refrigerator which we never used, they claimed we melted the inside of the fridge ?

Great place to regroup! Beautiful, very clean and we got a few loads of laundry done too!

Beautiful rooms - close to popular restaurant area - easy check in/check out.

Even though you don't check in with a front desk, the check-in process was very smooth. The staff always kept us informed via email. I didn't realize that we were on the 3rd floor and there was no elevator and I called and they were happy to switch us to a 1st floor room. We left a couple of items behind and they contacted us immediately and made arrangements to ship to us. Outstanding service!!!

Spacious suite with easy access

The historic facade of the exterior and the new-age comfort inside are the perfect mix for a comfortable stay in Uptown Saint John. I couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else!

We loved the house it was beautiful. Our room was lovely, spacious and clean. We had a wonderful surprise, that we thought we would have a smaller room but the room was very large. The host was very sweet and showed us around the room. Our two complaints, first when we pulled back the duvet there was only a small flat sheet that barely cover the mattress pad. Hmmm. We ended up finding the linen closet and a larger sheet and remade the bed. Second, the description said it would include breakfast. We left at 9:00am. There was no sign of breakfast. Over all we had a great stay. It was a beautiful home and a great location. Just a couple of minor things.

Lovely old buildings.

Parking garage dingy but workable. No elevator + 3rd fl room with winding old staircases tough (read near impossible) for lugging 2 suitcases . We took up just what we needed for the nite. Great bed and room well equipped. Got great recommendation for nearby restaurant. Location in town was outstanding. Walked the waterfront after dinner.

Clean but had a parking issue at first. Inconvenient when we first arrived. Wrote to management. No AC or operable windows. Room was 77 degrees. Bathroom sink drained ridiculously slow. All in all not great for the price paid.

We stay here often. Always great service. I will need to let them know that the hair dryer in our unit was not working. And we were left a note on our car questioning if we were guests permitted to use the space. Will return for sure and leave car license plate number next time

Wish we had stayed longer

Lovely property and very comfortable. Close to restaurants, sporting events and live performances.

Excellent location and nice amenities

The location of the hotel was excellent; within walking distance of many restaurants, bars, and the hockey arena. Parking was a challenge with small spaces and a big truck; but we managed. If the parking lot was full, I can't say I would have been able to get the truck in or out of this spot. Our room was really nice; comfortable bed, very relaxing jet tub and cute little kitchenette. It is a little noisy being so close to the sidewalk but if you have a drink or two; you won't hear a thing! Very nice room, and great location for the price. I would stay here again; and would recommend it.

Great place to stay in downtown Saint John!

Loved our room, great location, we went for the New Years eve celebrations at Market Square which were only steps away!

Answering service after hours - rude to callers

They have an answering service after hours and acted as if they were rushing to get me off the phone . The customer service with this answering service is unprofessional . The parking is complicated , buit once we figured it out it was fine . The room itself is great .

2nd Stay Not Great As The First

I've arrived to my room after a long 7 hour drive ready to relax. When I got to the top of the stairs, all I could smell is someone cooking fish. I am not joking. I went into my room hoping for less of a smell, but it's permeating everything. I went downstairs to inquire about the situation, when I was greeted hastily by someone who said "I'm off duty and aren't even supposed to be there anyways but had to deal with a guest emergency". Is this good customer service? When I shared what was going on her response was "someone must have cooked fish". The room is nice, very new. Updated bath. Comfortable bed. But really....does that matter when everything smells like fish?

Comfortable Stay

Had a relaxing night's stay here. Room 1 was clean, spacious, and had plenty of outlets to charge electronics. The bed was extremely comfortable. Had to get used to the stairs going down into the room and up into the bathroom. Bathroom was spacious and had enough counter space for toiletries. Water pressure in the shower was good. The hotel staff was prompt in answering the phone when we could not find the keys to get into our room. We had a rental car and parking was conveniently across the street in a garage. Area was quiet though in the morning you could hear traffic from the street.

Great historic building with comfort

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was elegant and spacious. We could have cooked in the kitchenette but only used it for breakfast. Great restaurants within a few blocks. Historical walking tours started a couple of blocks away. This place is on one of the tours! In the uptown area so we didn't even use our car for two days, just walked. We'd stay here again.

Best Choice

My first trip to the maritimes and I could not have chosen a better placel. A wonderful hotel-actually a condo-in the heart of downtown St. John. 5 minute walking to waterfront, restaurants, shopping and markets. Beautiful room, mine had a view of the river, and the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever had. Fully provisioned kitchen, jetted tub. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Don't consider any place else! These are my photos, not stock.

Overall, very positive hotel experience. Room was clean and well equipped , location right downtown St. John, Quiet, Spacious. Only area of concern was parking. Temporary parking was arranged but not acceptable. Had to relocate to local Public Parking

Comfort in a modernized Victorian building.

The suite has comfortable, if somewhat worn furniture. It is clean and provides all of the necessary amenities. The bathroom in our room is dated and was quite small but it was certainly clean and functional. The staff were really helpful and very accommodating. It was quite hot when we were there and the hotel had air conditioning installed right away for our comfort. They provide facilities for free laundry including soap. Parking is close by for a reasonable fee. The suites are within walking distance to many restaurants snd sights in downtown St. John.
