Poor
Very disappointed with the room, nothing like the pictures, put in an attic room with no view, very poor could not wait to leave. On arrival we was told the restaurant wall full so we had to get ready and try to find another restaurant, this gave us no time to relax or enjoy the use any of the facilities
Everything was amazing
Loved the Chateau! Great staff. Yes, its a little shabby around the edges (but can you imagine the costs to upkeep this building!). It has a lovely charm, the views from the terrace are absolutely stunning. Our room was huge, with a lovely balcony. We enjoyed sitting around the pool. There are tennis courts and also a spa (we didn't use, so can't comment on them). The restaurant is great and we had a wonderful supper the first night, but the only issue is that its a bit too expensive to eat there every night - so a cheaper alternative would have been good. We went into the local town for subsequent meals, which wasn't far. A lovely relaxing stay, in a beautiful hotel. Would definitely recommend.
Great!!
Rooms were neat! Staff were friendly
Stunning and luxurious château . The staff were cheerful and welcoming, dignified and professional without being stiff. The food was fabulous but it would have been nice to have a few more options at dinner especially if were staying more than two nights.
Great Hotel but urgently needs refurbishment.
Absolutely amazing hotel with a wonderful restaurant and friendly staff, but the rooms are outdated and in urgent need of refurbishment and investment with the grounds to return the building to its former glory.
Beautiful Chateaux without a doubt
Beautiful chateau! We’ve stayed at a few nice chateaus, and this was our favorite! Great staff. Wonderful ambience. And the wifi works great!
We loved the room we had, and it was such a beautiful property. The staff were really nice and very helpful. The restaurant was good but on the pricey end so we only ate there one night.
Great hotel let down by a few small issues
Good hotel and probaby worthy of its 5* rating but it wasn't quite there for me. The rooms in the annex are very small due to architectural constraints so access to both sides of the bed is pretty much impossible. The food was of a high standard, as was the service but the cleanliness of the restaurant was not so good (the cereal I spilt on the floor one morning was still there the next!) and there was a slight issue regarding the bill that we didn't realise until after we'd left. The leisure facilities were good, the outside pool was clean and the spa well maintained. I would certainly return and recommend but it's still more 4½* rather than 5*
Classy, great staff and amazing food. That place is a gem
Idyllic Country Chateau
Winston and Arthur (dog and horse on the property) were definite highlights for us. Winston is the just the sweetest boy and Arthur is quite funny. You probably want to hear about the property—immaculately clean with an excellent (human) host. Breakfast was a delight each morning. Plan your other meals ahead of time as the area is rather remote with a few options within a 15-20 minute drive. Otherwise it’s a very relaxing country getaway with little concern for the outside world. Absolutely lovely.
We booked a suite here for us and two children. The Rooms are tired and the bathrooms are really falling apart. The food in the restaurant is pleasant not exceptional but over priced. The pool again needs attention. It’s a shame as the staff were absolutely charming nothing was too much trouble, however the hotel itself is in desperate need of a refurb. We didn’t have breakfast as didn’t really think it would be worth it.
Stayed August 2023
Disappointed with the interior of the hotel in particular the bedrooms. The room we stayed in No 1 had a bad smell of drains. Our daughters room No 12 bathroom facilities were small in particular the toilet. The waitress that served us for dinner breakfast and lunch was very good. The food was nice but more options would have been appreciated
Disappointing stay
This hotel is beautiful, the view is great, the spa was perfect and some of the staff were awesome but our junior suites were not air conditioned although they were represented as being air conditioned. Our friends and other guest we spoke with expressed the same issue: no AC. Next: When you pay 300 euros per night one would expect they would have room in the restaurant they promote. We were told they didn't have room for us on our second night there. We could see they filled 12-15 tables outside and the 20 or so tables inside were kept empty. We did not expect to be told to go eat elsewhere when we tried to book our second night on the first night there. This hotel is in the middle of the country side. The best restaurant we could find was a burger joint. Not impressed! They didn't even offer to help us find a suitable restaurant. We would not stay there again nor would we recommend this hotel
Beautiful Chateau to relax and enjoy the countryside. Staff awesome!
Staff was eager to help provide great service! Hotel was clean, beautiful and fun.
Sincere guest service. Hot bath water supply was limited though
A beautiful château which surpassed our expectations, and for our visit was exceptionally good value.
The chateau has lovely rooms. We had a wonderful meal in the restaurant, and the staff were very attentive and helpful. The hotel was convenient as a base for exploring some of the well-known chateaus in the Loire region. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return.
I was at Chateau D'Artigny for the first time in 1979. I was happy to see that the integrity of the property has been kept up all these years. The property is current and updated appropriately but at the same time has retained its classic aesthetic appearance and feel. The staff were wonderful and of great assistance.
What a beautiful, historic slice of heaven in the Loire Valley. Centrally located to visit Tours, Ambrose, Blouse, and Orleans! Not many eating options outside the hotel, so book early (L’Evidence). The staff was AMAZING. The classical weekend music concerts were an added bonus. Would absolutely return !!
This is an amazing hotel. Lovely building well adapted to a kitty hotel. I just love it. The staff were all outstanding.
Everything was perfect!!! A lot of amenities, nice quiet place for relaxing, so delicious breakfast
Beautiful place to stay - food and service exceptional.
Family stay at the Chateau d'Artigny
Beautiful place to stay for a few nights. Specifically enjoyed the food - we had an excellent dinner on the first night and would highly recommend it to anyone contemplating a stay at the property. Free bicycles on property (E bikes available for a fee) but unfortunately only adult sized bikes available so would recommend the property obtain some child sized bikes for guests to use as many families on site. Pool area is tired and greatly in need of update - specifically, the sun loungers were old cheap and sagging, none of the outdoor sofas/chairs had cushions anymore (they would have had at one point) and most of the parasols were broken. There was an attendant on site very infrequently and limited drinks options which was a complete let down for what is meant to be a 5 star property. The pool needs maintenance as well as the tiles / cement is coming away and there is mould residue. The tennis courts were a nice features, as was the table tennis. The pool house toilet had no soap which was grossly unhygienic. Our family room was sizeable and adequate. The toiletries were cheap quality. We were only given 2 towels for a family room of 4 people; the toilet cistern was not functioning properly and it took hours for the water to fill up and this was very noisy. We were given a very uncomfortable sofa bed for the 2 children and NO proper bedding so they were without a duvet/comforter which was disappointing. Nice place, but tired and requiring upkeep ASAP. Not 5*.
Great 3 night break for the family
The staff were excellent, very friendly and welcoming, and very helpful. Beautiful surroundings and lovely cocktails! We stayed in duplex junior suite over 2 floors in the pavilion which had plenty of space.
The experience overall was great. The château is beautiful and the staff were very friendly. A few things could be improved however, namely not charging 20 euro for using the spa. This is quite bizarre for a 5-star hotel. Also, there were no spa treatments available for hotel guests on the days we were there. There should always be a few last minute availabilities for hotel guests in my opinion.
Fantastic Stay and Service
Fantastic Stay and service
The room was gorgeous and well maintained! Our only complaint was that the hotel food wasn’t so good. Also when we were there in mid Oct there were quite a few stink bugs everywhere- it prevented us from being able to open the windows in the room as a handful would sneak in when we did. Overall amazing experience and would stay again!
Beautiful location and surroundings. Check in was very nice and friendly. We were very frustrated with the dinner. While the food was delicious the service was lacking. We waited over 30 minutes to be able to order our first drinks and another 15 minutes to have the bottle arrive. The staff was courteous but not helpful. One person in our party was trying to decide between two dinners and asked the server about the dishes. The response was one is seafood and one is poultry, not helpful. We thought that our reservation included breakfast and were shocked to see a charge of 25€/person. The breakfast was fine but no better than a continental breakfast anywhere else. We waited for 15 minutes for eggs to be brought out. What we expected to be a highlight of our trip ended up being underwhelming and pretentious.
bathrooms and bedrooms need an upgrade, and the food is very limited and not so great!
A good hotel but too expensive for its level
Nice looking hotel but from inside this hotel is old and not adapted to the level it is sold Room are clean but furniture really very old Same for the bar which is noisy and uncomfortable Food is good
Gorgeous Chateau
We are traveling with our large dog through france and this beautiful chateau was just right for our stay as we booked a room which is located outside of the castle we can easily walk through the forest and enjoy limited contact with other persons. The second room choice is recommended. The staff is kind and the wine and dinner pairing is exceptional they really know the nuances of the flavor profiles in the region. We would stay here again.
Great setting - room too small
The room we were given was basically far too small, at the very top of the castle requiring climbing stairways after stairways. Not that optimal as an experience. On a positive note, the staff is helpful and good customer service overall.
Marvellous restaurant and chateau
The chateau is magnificent and dinner in the restaurant was superb and a true experience. However the outside areas were not at the same standard. Our room was quiky a d very comfortable.
Excellent all round
Fascinating place and history. Dinner excellent if service a little inattentive. Staff friendly and helpful. Pool perfect temperature. Room could do with updating but public spaces fantastic.
Peaceful location and great food
Lovely way to break a longer journey south. Peaceful location, great views and very welcoming to us and our spaniel. Do book up dinner in advance as the food is excellent, with great service too. We will try to stay here again in the future.
Dinner was Amazing, staff very helpful, but property overall needs tons of updates, carpets have stains, doors and walls need refreshing.
Wow factor, but not perfect.
Lovely setting and excellent restaurant. Bed however was really really (too) firm and our room suffered from noise from the breakfast room below and from staff packing down after a private dining function along the corridor. Not really a place for children so was surprised to see so many youngsters and babies staying.
Will stay again
Beautiful building. Pleasant employees, especially Quentin. Good service in restaurant and bar. Would have liked a coffee shop and someplace cozy to hang out. Would have preferred the “formula” dinner menu to change from Friday to Saturday evening.
Worth the visit
The property has beautiful garden and overall setting. But the room needs to be updated . We ate in the restaurant, the food was pretty good but a bit expensive. The spa facility was turned off and it was hard to find the person to turn on. I did enjoy staying here.
Bed was very small and uncomfortable. Bathtub/shower was narrow, hard to get in and out of and slippery. While the robes were nice and the towels large, none were soft. Staff was friendly and helpful, restaurant was amazing and grounds and actual chateau were beautiful. Pavillions not so great.
Amazing property and customer service. Étienne did a remarkable job to make us feel incredibly welcome and taken care of!
Loved every minute here. Just a beautiful place to stay and relax. The grounds are lovely and lots of outdoor seating.. Treated myself to 2 hours at the spa. Not sure about the other rooms, but ours did not have air conditioning. The nights were cool and we did have a fan in the room. Not sure if it would be comfortable in the middle of summer. The room was large and comfortable. You will need a car if you want to explore the area, but if you are looking for a retreat, I highly recommend staying here.
Very nice hotel. A little quiet while we were there in early September. There’s a lovely patio to have a drink on before dinner. Dress in the restaurant was fairly formal.
Its really smaller then it seems, some of the amnesties was not so good pool etc. Ok if u just wanna live in a castle to do it
The main areas were 5stars the rooms were a little worn and four stars at a push. I advised the hotel that I was a vegetarian and was told that they had a vegetarian menu on arriving at the restaurant Wednesday evening the vegetarian menu had no choice one starter on main the starter was amazing the main was also perfectly cooked however it had no main event just garnish all tasting delicious however needed a small pastry or a little pasta or cous cous the options are endless shame because the chef was very good. When asked the next morning if we were having dinner again I explained that as only one choice I couldn’t and he agareed that they only had one vegetarian option. However when checking out I was told that had I asked they would have sorted out. Sorry I told them before I arrived and a five star should have offered the client
In the Chateau kind of hotel many areas are remodeled to fit a hotel with modern needs, so sometimes it doesn’t goes very well or very convenient. The room was good and food was good but the property is in need to maintenance and cleaning. The very high season is busy in August so the employee s were busy and not very smiling and also was hard to sit in a table near the window.
High-Class Loire-Valley getaway
Stunningly-beautiful location.. Elegant appointments and service.. Perfect mid-Loire location.
nice setting, quirky yet fun room, nice town nearby
Beautiful Château in the woods in the country. Few minutes drive from Tours. Great customer service but be prepared to know what you want to do there. No concierge on staff. We played Golf De Touraine course for free because we stayed at the hotel. Beautiful golf course - highly recommended. While our stay we visited many castles around Loire River, which was the point of our stay there. Easy drive.
Magnificent property in need of better service!
Magnificent location. Building still has has its charms. Rooms are nice and luxurious. Service is just ok for a 5 star hotel. Restaurant is overpriced, food is just edible and service not good. Not worth the $150 for 2 that it cost me! Go eat somewhere in town, there is a Michelin star restaurant 2 miles away!
Dead flowers out front seemed odd
Love!!!
We had a wonderful Tim and it was a beautiful stay! Very elegant and professional.
We had an amazing time at Chateau d'Artigny. We felt like royalty!
We had dinner there. The staff couldn’t have tried to make everything perfect for us. Being Americans it can be a challenge with the language. My steak wasn’t cooked much after being ordered medium. But all in all everything was pretty great.
A fabulous chateau stay
Outside of building is majestic. Inside: Beautiful dining rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms with marble floors. The service was impeccable. We arrived late, and although the kitchen was closed for dinner, the pastry chef allowed that we order coffee and desserts. The desserts were a beautiful presentation, and absolutely delicious. Dejeuner the next day was wonderful Not to be missed. I look forward to staying here again.
Fantastic stay in a beautiful French’s Chateau!
We had a fantastic stay, the chateau is amazing, from the moment you enter the property, going throug the woods, the exterior is beautiful, inside is also great, great service, restaurant, spa, etc.
A Sunday at the Château
My partner and I stayed one night at the Chateau to get a break from Paris. Arrived on a Sunday, so it was really quiet around the hotel and the village nearby. We found out our room didn’t have AC, so we ended up paying more for one that did, since it was the middle of August with record temperatures. Didn’t have the chance to use the spa or pool, but it was nice that they have bikes available to explore the property. Dinner was expensive but delicious. A nice bar area and sitting room as well. The room itself was comfortable. I just suggest confirming in advance that you’ve booked a room with AC if staying in the summer!
Such a beautiful luxurious place to stay.
A most amazing end to our holiday returning back to the UK, a beautiful place to stay, expensive but well worth it!
Not cheap but a fantastic setting and superb food
Stunning Château styled on Versailles.
D’Artingy is so impressive as you come up the drive. And perhaps even more impressive when you walk in. It feels like you are on a movie set. Our room was very comfortable though I would have liked tea/coffee making facilities. Lovely outdoor pool (heated) and underground spa with a “secret tunnel “ to the main hotel. Lovely terrace for cocktails before dinner (though the canapés were a bit simple and therefore disappointing). We had an excellent dinner in the restaurant. Delicious beef and veal. Breakfast was good but quite expensive. I would definitely recommend coming here.
Nice on the outside, indifferent inside, overprice
a nice outer building, but average inside including the rooms based on price... average or below. no breakfast generally included an its not cheap and not that great looking in the restuarant. you are paying for the building, not for much more
Loire Chateau weekend
Spent three nights there because of a family commitment nearby. The grounds and chateau are beautiful. The staff are gracious and welcoming. The food is fantastic.
Worth the drive!
We had a wonderful stay at this Chateau, including dinner in their restaurant which was one of our best meals in France! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel, but would suggest staying in the main part of the hotel over the quarters further away in order to benefit from the best rooms and the view!
The hotel is magical and has the feel of an old chateau but with all the modern amenities of a 5 star hotel. The restaurant was excellent and so was breakfast.
Review
Beautiful place but only for summer time
Beautiful Chateau!!
They knew it was our anniversary and upgraded our room and even made a special dessert for us at dinner. They were all fantastic and welcoming. Would definitely come back and recommend.
Cool stay
Hotel staff was super!!! Great pool area with ping pong, tennis, showers; kids loved it Hotel was a very cool chateau with other architecturally interesting buildings Rooms were a little old in terms of carpet and decor but it was clean and nice, bed was big and comfortable, room had stairs to get to bathroom which was a little sketchy in the middle of the night. Room service was great tool
This chateau has stunning salons which were open to sit and enjoy. Our bedroom was upgraded which reflects their excellent service and we enjoyed a lovely room. Upon entering the room, the temperature was set nice and cool to off set the heat outside. We reserved a spot for supper and we enjoyed the most spendid service! The food was very nice but the service was bar none (absolutely amazing). I felt treated like a queen and my fiancé was treated just as royally - not just at supper but in the whole hotel. The wine selection is stunning and all of the severs were very well qualified. This is an excellent chateau and well worth the stay.
A fun base from which we explored famous Chateaux.
The highlight of the property is the main Chateau building. The reception area there is beautiful, elegant and grand. The front desk staff was very warm and helpful. Our room was in a less luxurious building across the front lawn. The room was large and comfortably appointed, but a little updating would be welcome. We regret we didn't have time to enjoy the fine dining restaurant, spa or hiking trails on the property.
Great place!
100+ year old chateau in Loire valley that offers great service, quiet, meals, and wine. Fantastic place. Highly recommended. Good location for seeing the Loire valley. Would stay again.
Amazing place to relax and unwind
The grandness of the chateau was unforgettable, the location perfect and the staff unforgettable
Beautiful and quiet
Staff were warm and welcoming. The place itself is very beautiful. Our room was large and very comfortable. Bathroom amenities were great.
Elegance and grand finish
Grand entrance and lobby. Rooms are well equipped and staff are very pleasant to deal with. Great experience overall
Beautiful hotel!
Beautiful hotel in a castle. Carpets and upholstery could use a renovation to be perfect.
Magical Chateau that needs some help
The chateau is truly lovely and our stay was unique. However, the hotel seems to be sliding into semi-disrepair. The grounds are very neglected which is quite sad. Our room was bordering on shabby and is in grave need of a major renovation. The common rooms are quite beautiful however. The staff was wonderful and kind and the dinner was tremendous. Breakfast too (though pricey) was terrific and served in yet another grand and beautiful room.
A little worn
Beautiful on the outside, somewhat worn on the inside. Hotel dining is outrageously expensive for what you get.
My children, parents and I had a very pleasant one-night stay. The staff is extremely accommodating and helpful.
Review your bill CAREFULLY!
I booked 4 rooms there for family through Expedia. When I arrived they told me yet needed the vouchers to prove I paid. I did not get any vouchers from Expedia. Later on they told me I didn't need vouchers. It was unnecessary stress for myself and the others. We went for an expensive dinner there treated by one member of our party. He signed for the bill that night and made sure it was charged to his room. When we checked out the hotel had made the executive decision without asking anyone to split the dinner bill evenly between all rooms. This was again very stressful and took a long time for the hotel to rectify. Our hotel bill had many mistakes and was over €500 more than we had spent. There were many incorrect items on it. Everyone's hotel bill was incorrect. Also, despite the fact that we all gave ID when we arrived, the hotel put every room under my mother's name for some strange reason which also caused unnecessary stress. I had a massage at the spa and a stranger walked into the room part way through which startled me. Everyone had a nice room except for mine that looked like a Best Western, even though we all had the same room type. We were disappointed with our room and asked to change rooms. We were told there were no other rooms, but that turned out to be untrue when some other people who joined us for dinner decided to stay over and were given a choice of rooms. Our bedding wa a pretty gross. The food was great and the building is very nice.
Nice chateau hotel at Loire Valley.
It's a good hotel at an wonderful 'chateau' of Loire region. The rooms are comfortable but looks old. The restaurant is very good and have good prices, considering the top quality.
Overpriced - not worth it!!
The hotel is in a serious need of a refurbishment. It clearly hasn't been looked after very well, which is a real shame as it looks lovely from the outside. The room was tiny, with a very small window. It was very dated and really not worth what we paid. The breakfast was also a complete rip off at €24 per person for some cold sausages and scrambled egg. On top of that, even hotel guests had to pay to use the spa facilities! All in all, a very disappointing visit. We will certainly not be returning!
Nice hotel in the middle of the valley.
The hotel was hard to find, the place is amazing. The resturant is superb, best food I ate in France so far. The only downward is the furniture, it's outdated and need reupholstered for the springs goes into you when you are sitting and few chairs legs need to be fixed. The hotel is not a luxury like it stated need renovation. We have a complementary wine bottle that was a nice gesture.
An enchanting three days
This was one of the most romantic and enchanting places we have ever stayed. The grounds were beautiful, the hotel was stunning, the 7 course meal was unforgettable. We were there in spring so it was like our private home. We didn't have time to use the spa facilities but from what we saw they too were most likely splendid. If you are a king this place might only be adequate, but for us mortals this is over the top.
Live like a king!
It was a very pleasant stay in a perfectly beautiful chateau with lovely gardens and very competent and helpful staff who spoke English as their native language. Will return.
WONDERFUL CHATEAU
This was an overnight stay on route to see friends in Bergerac. on a previous journey I had seen many of these fine old Chateau's but had not booked in advance. The Chateau D'Artigny is a magnificent building, the grounds are nice also. We were made to feel very welcome by Tibault, he could not do enough for us. We were the only guest staying in the Chateau that evening and we chose to eat in their restaurant. The food was great although extremely expensive, as were the wines. I was a little annoyed at having to pay for breakfast, at 24Euros each it was expensive, especially for what was on offer. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend others to do so. But probably eat in the nearby town. The overnight stay was reasonably priced.
Beautiful . Beautiful. Beautiful!
What a unique experience to stay in such a grand hotel! The staff exceptionally meet our every need. It is old. Therefore, you will not experience life as in 2014. If you desire more of a French aristocracy life style, this is a place you might really enjoy!
Gourmet cuisine
The rooms was lovely, we had dinner in the restaurant which was gorgeous but very expensive! Enjoyed our stay here.
Overpriced for a shoebox
Very disappointed. On arrival they could not find my booking. When shown to my room it was not in the chateau, but in the outhouse, in a tiny room which didn't even have a view of the chateau, it just looked int leaves. The staff were not friendly and the spa totally overpriced. I do not recommend this place if you are making it a highlight of your french trip like I was.
Pick 'n' mix rooms, delightful Chateau
A fantastic chateau and gardens, makes a real impression when you first arrive. The staff are very friendly and the maitre'd at the restaurant is a delightful chap with a great sense of humour and always willing to help. Despite all having a similar theme (very traditional old style decor), no two rooms are the same so depending on your tastes you may prefer another - if you do, the staff at the reception will, depending on availablity, take you around to look at the other rooms to see if there is another more to your liking - excellent service. Unfortunately my room was in a slight state of disrepair - cracked paintwork, spiders spinning webs in a few corners and the air conditioning unit needed hours to cool the room even slightly. You'll need a car or be happy to spend on taxis - it's fairly close to tours, about 20mins drive but is otherwise centrally located for exploring the various chateaus dotted around the loire.
Stunning
We were completely wowed after driving up a long narrow road through the woods and, upon emerging, seeing the gleaming white façade of this magnificent hotel. We love these kinds of hotels with great history, comfort, beautiful grounds, excellent service, and a great restaurant to boot. We are so glad that hotels.com offers choices like this!
I want to live here!
What an amazing experience to be thrown back to a time of class, grace and bonhomie.
Affordable luxury.
The grounds and architecture were stunning. We enjoyed the pool, ordered food at the pool house, nicely surprised that the sandwiches were a good size, we ordered two to share between the four of us as an afternoon snack. There were tennis rackets and other "toys" to borrow. We used the free bikes to bike around the premises, we had the last four bikes and a couple of them were in pretty poor shape, rusted chain, etc, so we did not bike too far. Our rooms, 44 and 43, were more comfortable than I expected. They were a little "worn", upholstery was a little stained, edge of the fabric walls were a little frayed. The rooms did NOT smell, as another person commented. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a coffee and drink in the bar, but did not eat at the restaurant, instead we ate in town. This is not the Ritz, it's nice, not pristine, just a little "worn". It is a good value. We paid about $260.00 for per room, per night. I would definitely come again and recommend it to others.
The hotel was a little tired and could have done with a refresh. The room was small as was the bed. The spa was disappointing and the exercise equipment consisted of two bikes. However the staff were very friendly and provided a good service.
Disappointing when it offered much......
.....as internally it is in desperate need of a make over. Lift far too small and uncomfortable for two people with luggage and opening out into a very narrow corridor which is difficult to squeeze in and out of. Views from our room which was at the side of the building were nice but the furniture was dated and faded in parts. Our biggest complaint is the price which was excessive for what it offers. Breakfast was an extra 24 euros each and the choice was not as extensive as you would normally expect of a four star establishment. We would not return.
Impressive looks but needing renovation
Very nice building set in large and beautifully maintained grounds. Just in need of refurbishing given that certain elements look a little tired

It’s a great treat and a great way to finish our stay in France
