Amazing place to stay.

The place was so nice, very clean, charming and had souxh more than we anticipated. The owners were very nice and so kind. The place was so relaxing after a busy day sight seeing.

A slice of heaven!!

The Chalet is a13 minute walk from the Obertraun train station. It is an 8 minute walk to the bus to Hallstatt. Obertraun is a picturesque, peaceful village away from the crowds of Hallstatt. It has some 700 residents. There is a supermarket but restaurants are limited. The property is beautiful ... surrounded by mountains. It is impeccably maintained. The apartment was adorable and well outfitted. The owner provided water, orange juice, cofee and tea. She was also very helpful with directions and recommendations. The bed was comfortable, kitchen well equipped and bathroom spacious. I couldn't ask for nothing more! I enjoyed waking up and seeing the sheep graze!! I would highly recommend this Chalet!!

Loved this older house. It has been updated very nice and has all that you would need for several days. Older house so creaky floors and steep stairs but has lots of charm. Large shower & bathroom. Bed was comfortable. Beautiful views of the mountains. Lisa was very helpful and easy to work with.

Our stay at Chalet am Sonnenhang was delightful. It was a pleasure to meet Lisa and Gabbie, and it was clear that they take great pride in thieir property -- as they should -- because it is extraordinary! The suite was very quiet, private, authentic & tastefully decorated, and provided for a very unique experience. The sauna was a nice added amenity, and simple enough that we could figure out how to use it without complications. The grounds are charming, and well-maintained. We highly recommend Chalet am Sonnenhang to future guests and hope to return, someday!

We spent two nights at the chalet in obertraum. Lisa was very helpful and let us borrow bikes to go to Hallstatt. Had a great stay!

We enjoyed our stay at the Chalet! The location and room was beautiful. Lisa did an excellent job to make us feel welcome and accommodate us during out stay!

Very clean and relaxing place. About 5 miles from Hallstatt which is very convenient by bus, car or by boat. The host is very nice and friendly and very accommodating.’she offer to let us use their bikes to ride around. You can walk around the property which has sheep and chickens. Overall it’s a 5star for me

Wow. We stayed for one night outside of Hallstatt. What a beautiful apartment. Loved the espresso machine available and the freshest farm eggs you could ask for. It slept three of us well. We walked into Hallstatt (3.5 miles). It was a lovely and very easy walk to get to Hallstatt. But Obertraun had its own charm. Would definitely recommend in all aspects!!

Great stay!

It was a wonderful experience. A really cute and homey place with excellent hosts. Just be aware, lots of stairs! Bed was comfy, fireplace was really nice, and the farm fresh eggs were a nice bonus.

Awesome view! Very peaceful surround by mountains

We loved our short stay in this chalet. Absolutely beautiful Mountain Views out by the back garden. The host Lisa was very sweet checking us in. The home is very convenient to Hallstatt but offers a serene stay a few miles away from the touristy area. Also, it was nice to have parking on premises. Lisa also left us farm fresh eggs for breakfast. I’d highly recommend a stay here.

Great stay. Beautiful property and room. Super friendly host greeted us and gave us some farm fresh eggs. Great local restaurant within walking distance and one of the most beautiful valleys in Austria. Easy to enjoy the area and short distance from Hallstatt. We also had our dog and the property was completely pet friendly.

I LOVED this apartment. It was perfect. Clean. Great bed, bathroom and sauna. Heated floors in bathroom. Location was perfect to Hallstaat but Obertraun was a great town to visit unto itself. The host was very friendly. This is one of the best apartment type hotels I've ever stayed in. The mountainous area around this apartment is beyond stunning.

A peaceful retreat

After a long drive from Italy this was a wonderful place to call home. A lovely restaurant within walking distance, a grocery store, and a walk to the pier for the boat to Hallstatt. If a boat ride of 30 minutes does not suit you, a 10 minute taxi ride will. A small farm experience in a lovingly restored house...at the end of the day to come home to the quiet and security of Obertraun was wonderful. Lisa and Gabby could not have been more helpful or more kind to us during our stay. I highly recommend.

Calming and Charming

Our stay in Obertraum was the highlight of our trip to Austria. We walked in the neighboring valley, hung out in the hammocks and felt right at home with all the nature surrounding the warm and cozy farm style home. A short walk to the small ferry took us to must see neighboring sights. We were blessed by our stay! Steve and Cheryl

The apartment was very spacious. The bed was comfortable. There was a great coffee maker. And it was very close to Hallstatt

We loved this property and the family that owned it was so nice and helpful! It exceeded our expectations and we will definitely return if we make it back to Austria. The room was large and very clean, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom was very large and very nice. The kitchen was also very nice and well stocked with everything you would need. WiFi also worked very well. The sheep outside were a nice addition. The location is perfect! Away from the crowds of Hallstatt but a very close drive or bike ride. The property was a 10 minute walk to Obertraun park which was very pretty right on the lake across from Hallstatt. You could take a boat to Hallstatt which was a beautiful ride.

Very stylish place. Gaby is a great host and her daughter Lisa is very super friendly and helpful as well. Highly recommended.

This is a WONDERFUL place to stay just outside of Hallstatt, which is simply thronged with tourists. Excellent easy access to Hallstatt (village, salt mines and medieval charm) and also to the Five Fingers site at Dachstein. The owner was charming, and had coffee, cream and juice available for the morning. The chalet was welcoming, spacious, immaculate, and the nearby bakery was super. The terrace outside (with table and chairs) has a splendid view of the awe-inspiring Alps. I missed having a comfy chair in the sitting room, but everything else was so perfect that we would definitely return. We were traveling with our 9 year old granddaughter, who loved the owner's chickens/rooster, and the chalet had both a lovely Q bed and a full size bed for our granddaughter. Bathroom was excellent. We were all delighted with this choice.

Lovely Local Homestay

Owner was not very helpful at all. There was no guest after us and the owner did not let us check out 1 hour later than the agreed time.

Adorable little rental just outside hallstatt

This was one of the most adorable places to stay. It's right outside hallstatt, and is a MUCH BETTER option than staying in hallstatt (Hallstatt is a tourist trap). They have hiking right outside the back door, and were so exceptionally welcoming that we thought of how great the place was for the rest of our trip.

My fiancé and I were traveling through Austria with an intention to visit Hallstatt (which we did & was beautiful), but we’re so happy to stay with our host Gabi. Everything was perfect from start to finish at this location. Great communication throughout our visit and she is an outstanding host making you feel at home. The location was great giving more of a local feel to the area and walking or biking distance to Hallstatt.Ammeneties were great, place was clean & nicely decorated, we cooked in the kitchen. GREAT STAY AND WOULD HIGHLY RECCOMEND!

Always beautiful

We have visited this apartment the 2nd time and it is still amazing. The owner, Gabi was kind and helpful, she waited us with a little easter gift and schnapps. Everything was clean and as new, we felt like home. We will definitely come back.

Nice place

Large room and washroom. Allow us late check in. Instruction provided in advance. A bit expensive. Has hairdryer. Kitchen with simple essentials.

It was close to Hallstatt and parking was not a problem. Gabi the owner is extremely friendly and nice to talk too!! Nothing negative that I can think of.

This was a wonderful fine. The room wa actually an apartment, with a delightful bedroom, living area, and modern bathroom facilities. The owners were professional and very friendly. We arrived late, the had th door open, keys on the kitchen counter with a note explaining everything we needed to know. I was so impressed I gave he owner five CD’s.

Lovely, rustic setting but a poor night’s sleep.

When travelling around Austria for two weeks, we wanted to stay in a rustic Chalet and we found this lovely place online. It is situated in a very quiet village (if you are staying on a Wednesday and want to get around or eat out, your own transport will be beneficial as the shops and pub in the village are closed). We stayed in the rear apartment of 3, which had a view of the farmland behind and the neighbouring working farm grounds. The chalet is fully equipped with everything you need for a short or long stay and it was all very clean and modern. For the price, which was relatively high compared to everywhere else we stayed, we were surprised to see everything was kitted out with Ikea furniture and crockery. It was all very well assembled and modern but we were surprised at how generic it all was to say the exterior is so traditional. A significant problem for me was how thick the pillow was. There was only one each, but it was so thick I ended up getting very little sleep and had a sore neck for the whole of the next day. Perhaps 2 slightly thinner pillows would be better to provide more of a range for guests. The owner of the chalet was really lovely and she gave us plenty of tips when we arrived, including getting the small powered boat across to Hallstaat, which we would highly recommend. If you are looking for a quiet break away from the hustle and bustle then I would recommend this Chalet. It was just a little pricey & the pillows need adjusting.

This is beautiful 2 bedroom apartment just outside of Hallstatt. The owner is very nice (helped find a room for a last minute traveler in our group).

A blue gem in the mountains

The whole house and room was fantastic. Gabi (the owner) was friendly and was waiting for us with a big smile. She even kindly answered our questions before the stay. The rooms were tidy and beautifully furnished. We loved every bit of it and will surely return. Hallstatt is just a couple of minutes by bus and the lake is a 10 min walk from the hotel.

Cute house in beautiful surrondings but wouldn’t recommed it for more then 1-2 nights. Not much to do in Obertraun and Hallstatt is overcrowded and overpriced.

Best stay in Obertraun

Long story short. Five star apartment and also communication. Quiet neighborhood, really close to nature and lake. Huge balcony with comfy seating and nice landscape view. Apartment was super clean and ready to our stay. Last, but not least, Gabriela's communication was friendly and always in the time.

Sehr hübsche und saubere Unterkunft mit gut ausgestatteter Küche, sehr freundliche und bemühte Gastgeber! Für uns einziger kleiner Minuspunkt: für Aktivitäten, Einkauf, Restaurants benötigt man jedenfalls ein Auto - die Umgebung ist aber jedenfalls sehr ruhig und idyllisch gelegen.

Everything was fine except wifi. Seems it have some old hardware, not handle more than few devices, periodically drop the sessions. Also wifi without password, some devices reject to connect non-secure wifi

Sehr schöne Wohnung in einer ruhigen Gegend. Der Mieter war sehr nett und trotz spätere Anreise, ist alles super gelaufen und konnten problemlos einchecken. Eine Kleinigkeit die uns gestört hat, war die Straße da neben, allerdings sind Autos nicht so oft gefahren, daher hatten wir trotzdem einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt.
