Great location and staff
The hotel was on the water, steps from the pier. Great location. Our room and property were clean. A nice touch: the property allows guests to use a refrigerator (although, locked overnight), and they have a refillable water station. I thought the staff were extremely nice during breakfast and when asking questions about the area.
They made me feel at home I loved my time there I hope to visit in the future!
A great location! Overall pleasant stay with friendly staff. Has a great view. I’d stay again.
Everything was good except no WiFi anywhere but the lobby
Place was good great location near the docks
Wow this place is amazing. Oceon front with 2 pools depending on where the sun is. Our room was very comfortable and quiet. The personnel is very very helpful. We had a great time talking with Tatiana about the possibilities san Cristobal offers. I would come back in a heartbeat
We loved the location, the view, and the staff. The kids loved the pool. The only negatives are that it is an older property, could use an update, beds are very hard and Wi-Fi is weak.
Property needs upgrading. No telephone in room. Overall opinion; adequate/satisfactory - needs improvement
Fabulous helpful staff. Delicious breakfasts and the best location on sea front. Thank you x
Great location and beautiful view. Walking distance to restaurants and beaches.
Great service, clean rooms
Great location, friendly staff, no hot water.
Located in an amazing location towards the north end of town, waterfront views and within walking distance of most attractions. Staff was super friendly and met all our requests. Breakfast was simple but fresh. Yogurt, fresh fruit, eggs to order, coffee, etc. Two pools on the smaller side but my kids loved them. Rooms were simple but comfortable and clean. They offer laundry service which was a big plus for us. They kept our bags at the lobby since our ferry was scheduled 5 hrs after checkout. Like I said, every member of the staff was very attentive. The only downside is that there was no hot water in the shower. Is really eco friendly, but a little discomforting during chilly evenings. The temperature cannot be adjusted, is pre-set. I do recommend this property, but next time we might look into other options in town simply due to the shower issue.
It is on the main road with a beautiful view of the water. There are 2 pools.
Great location just off the dock. We were warmly greeted with a glass of juice and a truly lovely hostess. The breakfast area was overlooking the beach and the ambiance outside was terrific. Our room could use an update The bathrooms were original to the 1970's but most importantly, they were clean. We had a queen bed and two twins which worked for us but was a tad tight. The biggest frustration was that we could only get wifi from sitting in the outside hall or by the eating area. I understand the Galapagos just got wifi within the last year and this is definitely minor in terms of where we were at but it takes little to get an extender to have the signal reach the rooms. I had all my itinerary digitally so the lack of WIFI service made it tough. The location and the staff made this a good place. (BTW, not only was the staff great to us, but we met a fellow traveler, not staying here, who ran into a problem and this hotel staff took the time to help this person in need. Well done!!)
Super friendly
This hotel is pretty close to perfect! The staff was so friendly! Very eager to help. The location, view and amenities were great! Right on the water, cozy, simple, covered outdoor seating for breakfast, hanging out or watching the harbor. Two pools! Hammocks on every balcony! I loved this place and I’m already scheming to come back asap.
Amazing place to disconnect and relax! I would recommend to stay here the staff are wonderful, the pool could have a bit more maintenance.
It was an excellent stay with excellent service and amenities. Would definitely stay here again
An ideal location with a beautiful view of the waterfront. The staff were excellent and went over and above when helping us book tours.
Amazing staff and rooms
A wonderful option for lodging. Tatiana, the manager was outstanding and so helpful. Rest of staff were very helpful as well. Walkable to everything in town. Our room overlooking the bay was great to watch all the action.
Excellent location in front of the sea.
Great hotel in a lovely town
This was a great location for town. Easy to walk to everything. A pretty hotel with alot of it outside (covered with breezes). Very friendly staff. The pools were nice to relax in after the heat and adventures. I had things planned arleady but many did excursions right from the hotel. We used the family room which was perfect for us.
Staff were attentive and helpful. Staff member arranged taxi for us for day trip. Timely and affordable. Did not like that free tea coffee is offered yet, no cups available in the afternoon. The front door is locked at night which is great however, its difficult to open with key. Sliding door to balcony in room hard to lock and unlock and is somewhat loose on tracking. When having a shower turn tap on just a little bit,3 minutes before your ready to get in...shower will warm up to hot at which time you can you can turn up waterflow. Great location as it's just a staircase to the beach. So close your able to hear the sea lions from room. Great view from balcony. Overall good value.
The staff were great. Very helpful and friendly - gave great recommendations. Hotel was a little tired although had charm and was clean and the location, view and staff made up for it. Nice to have the pools. Breakfast was also good. Would definitely recommend.
We were initially rather disappointed that we were not given a room at the front of the hotel overlooking the beach as expected. The room we were given is up several flights of stairs which is difficult for us with our health concerns. However we have a lovely view and the staff are all very helpful and friendly. The breakfast area is delightful and the hotel is very central so all in all a good choice.
good location (close to ferry, close to the airport) basic standard
You can't beat the view and location. I'm glad I chose this place for my first two days in the galapagos.
Great location, close to dinning and shopping. We walked here from the pier after our ferry from Santa Cruz. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. We only stayed one night, so we didn't check out the full property and pools. We would definitely stay here again.
The location is perfect, the room was clean, the staff very friendly and the breakfast was amazing
Beauty of San Cristóbal
Casa Opuntia is a small, quaint, quiet hotel with beautiful views. The staff was extremely friendly and it’s less than a 5-minute taxi ride to the airport. They serve a continental breakfast and they will prepare a small to go breakfast if you have an early tour as breakfast is served at 7 am. The hotel is centrally located and walking distance to food and drinks. Highly recommend!
overpriced for old property. no wifi in rooms. staff very friendly
room needs total renovation
My wife and I shared a suite on the top level with our college-age son. The room was cool, clean and comfortable (if a bit spartan), and the adjoining kitchen/dining room provided lots of extra space. We also enjoyed the included breakfast out on the communal terrace, which looks out over the bay. The twin swimming pools were small and seemed a bit run down, but perfectly usable. We asked for extra luggage racks to accommodate our 3 suitcases but were told the policy is one per room, which seemed kind of silly. Otherwise, the staff were very helpful and friendly.
We arrived after a heavy rain that left the property short a few rooms. Morgan worked through the shortage and assigned us a room that met our expectations on the property.
The room was huge. Great views of the ocean. Good breakfast and two pools. They have a refrigerator in the lobby for guest use.
I wouldn’t stay anywhere else!
We had such a great stay here. The staff and service was top notch. Our room was always kept clean and we had a beautiful ocean view. Breakfast was delicious and they even offer to go breakfast, in case you leave before breakfast hours. The location is ideal- steps away from all the restaurants, shops and beaches. I would love to stay here again!
Amazing hotel. The staff were so incredible and friendly. Should out to the lady with red/orange hair on reception. You were a super star. The owners clearly take pride in this place, it was very clean and very well maintained. The pool was delightful. The breakfast lovely. The location is perfect .
the property was clean and quiet. The amenities were excellent. The key to this location is the staff: friendly, informative, provided local information. The most important positive factor is the manager on site. I think the property could use a face lift, not necessarily a modernization. The quaintness should be kept.
Didn’t receive any VIP expedia perks. The hotel was simple and good for a short stay. The best thing was the location and the breakfast!
Great property
Clean hotel that is centrally located. Be aware there is very large construction at the property next door that is loud and works starts before 7 a.m. This was not disclosed by property or on hotels.com previous to booking, but overall we had a fairly good stay.
Excellent location. Great service. Great breakfast included. Strong water/ shower pressure. Free coffee/tea 24 hours. Tatiana, front desk staff is excellent resource/ employee. She's a treasure to this property.
was supposed to have a "larger triple room" which I reserved for more $, but they gave us a smaller double room only but still charged for larger room.
Great people, communication and willingness to help with anything we needed.
Incredible location. Beautiful view of the harbor and in the middle of everything. Lovely property with the most amazing staff. Tatiana and Juan Carlos were outstanding with so much insight, kindness and generosity of spirit. They made our trip extra special.
Fantastic view & breakfast crew but lousy service
The view on the top floor is gorgeous! The breakfast crew is simply the best. The will "run" to fulfil your wishes! Other services are rather lousy. We left our key for a day trip and around 5pm when we came back the reception was closed. The Whatspp Number is a local number (soo stupid)! It took about 1h to get our key! I would expect much more service for that price and the room ceiling definitely need an upgrade!
Quiet Convenient with views
Great friendly service from the manager. We were the only ones there for part of our stay due to Covid. Our room was upgraded and we had a great balcony looking onto the harbor. Great place to stay after or before a cruise. Excellent breakfast included.
Great place to stay on San Cristobal, perfect location, very clean and very pleasant hostess. Loved it!
Great waterfront hotel
We had a fabulous time at this hotel in San Cristobal. They offered us a free room upgrade, which was beautiful, spacious and had an amazing view. The staff was friendly and helpful. Would love the opportunity to visit the Galapagos and would stay here again!
Everything about this property was great! The service far exceeded our expectations. We were welcomed with cold towels and a welcome drink when we arrived. Our room wasn't ready yet because we were an hour early but we had a great time just sitting in the common area and overlooking the water. The staff was able to book our ferry tickets for us and they arranged a taxi for us to explore the highlands. Of the 3 places we stayed at while in the Galapagos, this place was definitely our favorite. It's in a great area and close to Muyu which is a great place for happy hour drinks and dinner. They even packed us a bagged breakfast to go on the ferry since we were going to miss the breakfast at the hotel, 10 out of 10!
Could we stay here again?Yes. Would we? Not likely
Pros: Great location; room had 2 balconies & we used one for sitting out at night looking at water, and the breezier one out back for drying clothes, wetsuits, etc.; most staff were very fluent in English (in the event you don't speak Spanish.) Cons: room is a bit worn, particularly around windows & patio doors which did not lock or had wide air gaps - we weren't concerned about security (town is quite safe), but we got many bugs in the room including mosquitoes & ants; found dried blood on pillowcase - probably washed in, but still gross; at breakfast, food was not always covered which meant birds had their beaks in everything, including jelly, breads, etc. That quickly ended our desire for free breakfasts; service was also lacking - when we sat down for breakfast we were told to move to the table that [we hadn't noticed] had silverware...why not just move the silverware?; on our last morning, about 15 minutes before breakfast, got a firm knock on the door (there are no DND signs) and were told to rise & shine if we wanted breakfast. We declined. Tourist advice we got didn't always align with our requests & we almost missed out on the highlight of our trip, La Loberia, which they declined to recommend despite our desire to snorkel with sea lions. In general, despite having almost zero needs, staff made us feel like a necessary cog, rather than like welcome guests. Also there was daily, early construction noise, but that's beyond their control.
Close to waterfront and you could see the Sea Lions
Get more for a great price!
The customer service at this hotel is worth 10 stars!!!! The hot breakfast is buffet style and very satisfying. The hotel's location is ideal and close to numerous things to do. A great hotel for the price!
The position is perfect. Breakfast was chaotic at times and very hit and miss
Wonderful stay
Friendly & helpful staff. Great location with beautiful breakfast views. Would stay here again.
Friendly hotel with lovely swimming pools
We arrived very early and the hotel staff made us feel very welcome and allowed us to use the facilities while our room was being prepared. Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely room with a great location. Recommended.
Lovely rooms
Lovely rooms, great service, perfect location. Breakfast is served with a water view. Straightforward checkin checkout process. Reasonably good WiFi given the location.
Great staff, super friendly. Property location is right off the beach! Very beautiful design.
Beautiful hotel in San Cristobal
Hotel was wonderful! Centrally located, friendly and helpful staff, delicious breakfast. Would highly recommend and would stay again.
Friendly hotel in a great location
We were greeted warmly upon checking in. We were served cold juice on arrival. The room was clean and had a postcard view of the ocean. All the staff were friendly, helpful, and eager to make our stay amazing. The manager Tatiana planned and arranged both a day trip and a boat trip of San Cristobal for us. The included breakfast was fresh, delicious, and served with a smile.
The manager Tatiana was amazing!! She couldn’t do enough for you!! The waiter at breakfast was awesome!! Location was perfect! Honestly it was a great experience. The bathroom could be updated mostly the shower. The size of the room was great and it was lovely! People complain about the WiFi......it’s the Galapagos the WiFi bad everywhere!!! My only complaint is I wish I would have stayed there longer!
It's a very nice hotel. Good location, right next to the beach where the sea lions hang out all the time, nice rooms, great breakfast. The terrace is lovely and great for hanging out in the evening. The hotel personal was friendly and very helpful. One thing to note, if you want a double room with the privacy of a balcony DON'T get the "Room Superior With Ocean View". It's a trick. Although it says in the room description that it "Features a private balcony" it's in fact the room at ground level facing the terrace where the breakfast is served and where people hang out in the evening. It's the least private room I've ever stayed in. I've emailed Expedia about it 3 times already and they just ignored me. Apparently they don't care about keeping their customers.
The customer service here was amazing. You're great with fresh squeezed juice in a champagne glass when you arrive and everyone you encounter is so nice and accomodating. They helped us book a tour around the island and our ferry tickets to Santa Cruz so we didn't have to worry about a thing! We had a room by the pool and even though it said it didn't have a view of the ocean we could still see a small amount of the water past the pool Gorgeous place!
Aged and stained Drop down ceiling. Old Shower curtain ripped or not hooked at top Plaster flakes falling off wall Nice view
A beautiful hotel in paradise
We spent 5 fantastic days at Casa Opuntia. Clean large room, 2 beautiful pools and custom delicious breakfast each morning. The staff was accommodating and the location was right on the harbor. Perfect.
Wish they had a tv. Very close to the town, easy walking distance to restaurants and tours.
If you are going to San Cristobal, stay here! The entire staff is wonderful - helpful and accommodating! The place is beautiful and immaculate (and I am really picky about cleanliness). The open air seating for breakfast has the best view, and it is also a fun place to gather and play cards in the evening. Tatiana was wonderful with anything we needed - from arranging for day trips and sightseeing to helping us blow up a soccer ball that we brought as a gift for our daughter's host family.
This place was amazing! Had a great ocean view and every member of the staff went out of their way too accomodate me. It has to be one of the best hotels on the island, if not THE best. Would definitely go back.
Exellent location.very close to the air port.walking dustance to Darwin center .lots of water activities and water acitivities are available.this is situated just in front of water front.
Exceptional friendly staff. Room was very clean and acomodations were very comfortable.
Great location--easy walk to pretty much everything. My room was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was amazingly spacious (Room 5). The hotel staff helped arrange a taxi for me to see the highlands for the afternoon. Although the driver didn't speak much English, he used the translation app on his phone to describe things to me. It worked out pretty well.
Check in took a long time and was a bit confusing. The property is spread out and a bit confusing. Breakfast was fine and staff was helpful when needed.
