AMAZING! Would highly recommend! Great staff and awesome location. Can't wait to go back.
Great location
Charming Boutique bed and breakfast in almost the perfect location. Staff has very limited hours. No breakfast before 8:30. they leave at 1700. We arranged for the door code and the keys were in an envelope. Overall a great stay.
Casa Mathilda has an exceptional, cozy environment and vibe that I haven't seen in any other hotels. Also, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Lastly, the location is very convenient for tourists and relatively quiet during the night.
Ms
The room is tidy and clean, good location at town. The staff is very nice and has excellent service
Staff was friendly and nice. The room was dusty. Including the shelves that would be used for storing clothes. The terrace was nice but there’s a school nearby and it gets very noisy during drop off and lunch times making it difficult to enjoy the space.
Love Casa Mathilda!
Had such an amazing stay here! The room was big and, beds comfortable, very cozy and clean and the staff was super nice!!! They held our bags while we went out as they finished preparing the room for us. The space is located in a great neighborhood, we walked everywhere and the metro/train was close by when we wanted to us that. I would totally 100% stay here again when coming back to Barcelona!
The staff person who checked us in offered suggestions for restaurants and was helpful in reviewing our plans for sightseeing. Another staff person helped us secure a reservation when we had some difficulty getting through by phone. The building can be hard to find but has charm, including an old working elevator (in addition to steps). Felt safe. We were able to walk to most of our destinations, including restaurants and museums. The room was dark and we were unable to see out of old windows. The floor did not look very clean. Must be near a school or community center because it was quite loud, but did quiet down after 7pm. There was a constant, high pitched sound in the room -from water pipes or HVAC? We got used to it but annoying the first night. We only ate breakfast one morning (due to early tours) - was tasty with a variety of options. Breakfast area/sitting area was nicely decorated and clean. Would be nice to have free coffee available at times other than breakfast.
Our stay at Casa Mathilda was wonderful. Conveniently located, it was within walking distance from many commonly visited areas of Barcelona
Staff were fantastic. Very friendly and extremely helpful. There was some rain during our stay and the staff were quick to provide umbrellas. They also offered an early ‘takeaway’ breakfast when we had early tickets to Sagrada Familia. The bed and breakfast is quaint and cozy.
Super friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location and very homely atmosphere. Good value for money. Not convinced about the star rating, but I will go back any time.
Very good stay at Casa Mathilda. Greeted warmly and shown around the property upon arrival. Very nice and clean. Room quite small and price highish, however I would quickly add that it’s our first trip to Barc. So it very may well be par. Of course it’s in quite a posh area. Diagonal Metro Station just 5 mins down the road which we found very handy and used enormously across our four night stay. Thanks Team Casa Mathilda
Excellent hospitality by the staff , close to everything, beautiful breakfast, clean- I had a memorable experience
Excellent location with very friendly staff. The toiletries could have been better, they really dried out our skin.
Service was amazing! Available to answer all your questions and super friendly staff. The location itself is also very cute, and very comfortable bed and pillows !
This property was extremely clean and it felt very safe ( many doors to go through to even access the suite). They have a little outdoor balcony that was well kept and accessible (but private). Although a bit of a walk to the tourist attractions, it was a great value for money and would stay again.
We had a lovely one night stay for our last night in Barcelona. Very beautiful decor and a super comfortable bed. Next time we are in BCN we will definitely stay at Casa Mathilda!
Good location
Very good location, nice overall stay but our room was facing a school and renovations so sound was an issue during morning hours. Overnight though was very quiet and we had a good sleep. Cleanliness was good as well.
Great helpful staff great common room, available until my late night flight left
Excellent location, friendly and professional staff. Definitely will go back and highly recommend it to friends.
Clean property and it’s close to the metro station!
Staff was very helpful and the location was great.
Casa Matilda is kind of a bed and breakfast style place as it does not have a manned front desk after about 5 pm. They do have a number to call in case there is any issue, and I never actually had any issue at all. Nevertheless, the location was perfect for me as I was working a couple blocks away. During the day the staff was extremely helpful and friendly and the breakfast was everything I needed including fresh fruit and traditional Spanish dishes. There is a school that uses the courtyard behind the hotel, so during the day there was sometimes a "joyful noise" out back. Sometimes I enjoyed it and other times I was looking for my earplugs so that I could focus better. There are plenty of cafes around, so there is no problem finding a meal. I particularly liked the sushi at a nearby grocery store, so I tended to go there. The rooms have a fridge, so I kept my own beverages and a few other things around for meals. This would be a great place to stay for several days while you explore the city. Attractions are walkable or you can take the metro if you prefer.
This hotel is conveniently located to main tourist attractions. The room we stayed is clean and space is just right for 2 people. Love the common area and outside balcony.
Great stay!
Such a great stay! We got in late so very much appreciated their arranged driver who assisted us into the building. The room/bed/shower were great and coffee / breakfast was super convenient. Overall, it was very quiet, however, as with other area hotels, pack your earplugs if adjusting from a significant time zone difference and needing to sleep outside normal hours. Would definitely rebook!
great hotel and staff
Friendly staff, great breakfast. Perfect location, close to restaurants/ bars.
Amazing service from the team! They were definitely helpful to get to know the area and very accommodating with our schedule.
I really enjoyed my stay at Casa Matilthda and I definitely will go back there again🙂
Muy bonita y acogedora Casa Mathilda.Cerca de todo. Lo recomiendo.
Staff are friendly and accommodating. The rooms are clean and charming. The breakfast is not worth paying for.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Mathilde, everything was great!
Boutique hotel in quiet Diagonal area of Eixample. Plenty of tapas places in the area and a close walk to Plaza Catalunya. Helpful staff, clean rooms, nice outdoor patio. My only complaint is the school nearby which has noisy children all day. This was bothersome to us because as tourists we took a daily siesta and it was impossible to rest with the yelling of children heard throughout the hotel.
It is a beautiful old building with a wood elevator and a nice outside place to eat breakfast.
Overall, good experience! We mostly used only the room - which was large and airy and clean. Location was good - convenient for public transport and walking.
Great bed and breakfast with comfortable rooms and friendly staff. It's in an excellent location to be away from the huge crowds at La Rambla and the Gothic Quarter, but centrally located so it's an easy walk to go uptown or downtown. There are also several great sights in the neighborhood, plus excellent dining.
Great!
Chic building in ideal location with very friendly staff. Also excellent breakfast!
Great location, helpful staff
We chose Casa Mathilda because of the central location which was ideal, obviously anything central is more expensive, but the place was nice and quiet. If you are driving, make arrangements upfront for parking either with the property or your own. Parking in central Barcelona is not cheap.
The reception was wonderfully pleasant, all hospitality and nothing transactional. Nothing but a wonderful greeting, kind assurance for my comfort and brilliant personality. Despite my lack for the language, I was welcomed with grace, professionalism and kind eyes. All of this in a 10 minute exchange, where I was then left to enjoy my stay. Exemplary experience. Bravo
Lovely stay! Highly recommend!
This was a great property overall the staff went above and beyond for all my needs especially Patricia. I really enjoyed the convince of walking max 15min for food and shopping needs. The only thing I did not like was the noise level from the school next door that was the only downside but manageable. I can't wait for my next trip to Barcelona.
Very friendly and helpful staff. I asked for a flat pillow and they quickly found me one. They really do want to make everyone feel happy and comfortable! Loved the old working elevator!
We found the room too small but the bed was very comfortable and staff was friendly. We were glad to have an espresso early in the morning by buying the pods and making our own.
nice location but pricey 😀
Our stay was perfect! The hotel is amazing and very comfy!
Beautiful rooms, and the breakfast is worth the price!
very nice n helpful staff room is great and comfortable. Close to tourist attractions.
This B&B is simply outstanding. Period. I am an architect who appreciates living in restored properties and when I stepped into the lobby to check in I thought I was entering into the set of Bride of Frankenstein. The antique elevator and circular staircase to the second floor lobby were simply eye-popping. The place is small scale and very cozy and the owner is a gem. Location is near all the Gaudí buildings. I’m definitely returning.
Beautiful building, lovely staff, a very easy stay. They upgraded us to a nicer room and we didn’t ask. Everyone was very nice and maybe because it was the end of September the hotel was very quiet. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who comes to Barcelona. It is a small hotel which made it feel very personal. For a week visit to Barcelona it was perfect.
Great 3 night stay
We loved this B&B. The location is super central and in a cleaner/nicer area of BCN. Patricia made us feel so welcomed on the day we checked in. She recommended some great spots to eat nearby and helped us pick the most efficient routes for using public transportation to get to some of our planned outings. The daily breakfast was always stocked and delicious. On our last morning we were leaving before breakfast starts (8:30a) so they packed us a togo breakfast the night before. So thoughtful.
Pretty Good
Only stayed one night and it was fine for such a brief stay.
Nice location. Beautiful building. Breakfast was good but didn’t start until 830 so we missed 2 of our 3 days. Room was not overly warm, which was good. Friendly staff. Quiet. Lift is helpful for luggage.
Highly recommended!
We had a fabulous time at Casa Mathilda. The staff were friendly and told us everything we needed to know. The room was quiet, comfortable and spotless. We would definitely recommend it. The only downside is that it is a little inconspicuous on the outside so you have to keep your eyes peeled!
Quaint hotel that you should stay at!
A cute, boutique B&B nestled in the Eixample District. It's conveniently located to a metro line that'll take you into the Barcelona city center. I definitely recommend this place!
Great value
Cozy but comfortable room. Great location. Wonderful shared back patio area.
Perfect stay in Barcelona!!
Great location, metro station close by along with Gaudi architecture masterpieces within walking distance. Nice staff! Comfortable bed, room faced the street, saw a couple of reviews that complained about extra street noise, but that definitely shouldn’t hold you back, very much had a great night of sleep.
Nice B&B
B&B is very near Casa Milà , our room had access to the patio which is lovely , excellent shower with powerful water pressure. There is a elevator to go up which is good for us with our heat luggage. We paid for 5 days breakfast and we ate 2 days only ,don’t enjoy our breakfast at all . Staff are friendly , would recommend this B&B to friends
Clean , staff very pleasant and helpful, location good, has an elevator, and breakfast was very nice as well. have stayed there twice and would stay there again!!!! Phyllis
Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was good and location was great.
Excellent
The B&B is located in a central location, just two blocks off Casa Milà. Nice courtyard and breakfast area. Room is small but roomy and clean. Staff are amazing. We were flying out BCN at night, they even let us keep using the lounge area for free till late even after checkout.
Worst experience
Cute little boutique hotel but that’s where it all ends. The hotel did not have functional air conditioning in all common areas, except for the rooms. Our room was very small even though it was listed as a an executive suite. There was barely enough room to walk around the bed. Bathroom was also very small. It had a toilet and a shower and that’s it. Shower water would run into the rest of the bathroom. Sink was right next to our bed and not in the bathroom. They do not change the towels everyday. They expect you to reuse them. Even at $200 a night!! Walls are super thin. You. Can hear people talking in the hallway. I had to tell them to keep it down one morning at 8am when the maid was cleaning outside and moving furniture. Which woke us up. The only good thing was the front desk girl I think her name was Alex. She was very polite and helpful. I would not stay there again and would not recommend it. You can find far better places for this price in that area. I was totally mislead but the good reviews on here. I had stayed at Suites Barcelona just up the street back in April and loved it. It cost me $560 for 4 nights at that hotel and I had a two bedroom apartment with a fully functional kitchen and laundry. Casa Mathilda cost me over $600 for 3 nights and we had a shoebox as our room. A major thumb down!!
This 'hotel' is one of those little gems you come across every now and then. A much more intimate experience than the large purpose built hotels, this one is accessed through one of those enormous anonymous doors you see on the streets of some continental cities. Then a short flight of steps or take the most beautiful antiquated little lift to the first floor. The website photos are exactly how it is. The rooms are modern in an old building, beds really comfortable, air conditioning, sliding doors across the windows to cut out any light at night. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast is buffet style in communal area, not overstocked but quite adequate. There is a delightful terrace at the back. The only negative for me was that if you wanted coffee other than at breakfast it was only available via vending machine (tea was freely available) and not great lighting in the room for make up, but that's me just being picky. The hotel is also perfectly located for so many places of interest either on foot or by metro. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
Sweet stay in the Eixample
Very nice accomodations- beautifully designed with great common areas. The Eixample is a wonderful neighborhood to explore for food, cafes, and centrally located to many sites. The service here is excellent- Alix made herself available to us if we needed it, always. I would recommend this place to anyone when in Barcelona.
Quiet and boutique, perfect for us
Great stay within walking distance (we are walkers) of all central sites and easy walk from railway station to airport
Good hotel but need some improvements
Location is perfect, environment and decoration were made good, staffs are sincere. However, room cleaningness has some rooms to improve, towels should be replaced with clean one since no good way to hang it after used, breakfast can be improved in accordance with the room rate costed.
Good digs in Eixample
We arrived early and the Andy, the member of staff on duty, was wonderful. We were able to get into our room early and we really appreciated it. Excellent shower with good water pressure and our room had access to the patio area which I was lovely. The breakfast was excellent, very good value for money. We tried to stay on our return but it was fully booked. I would stay here again.
Quiet, cozy, affordable, friendly B&B
Excellent, quiet location near the two extraordinary Gaudi houses and a 15-minute walk the the Placa Catalunya and Ramblas. Rooms are small but efficient and comfortable, and staff is highly responsive and helpful. Very pleasant breakfast room and terrace. Perfect for a visit to Barcelona.
Great neighborhood
Very nice quiet neighborhood. Away from the tourist crowd. Easy access to metro
One of the most charming boutique hotels!
My daughter and I wanted a charming little boutique hotel in the Eixample district, and we hit it out of the park with this one! Great location, so much character. Private and secure entrance through iron gate leads you to an old-fashioned lift which takes you to the first floor where the entrance to Casa Mathilda is located. Staff is warm and friendly, very efficient, and most helpful, recommending routes, restaurants, beaches, etc. They even loaned us an adapter when ours broke. We booked a "Terrace Room" with two twin beds that had French doors leading to the beautiful, quiet, and private (for hotel guests) patio. The beds were extremely comfortable, they supply you with over-sized bath towels, and the shower was amazing (great water pressure!). Tile floors, more than enough outlets, great lighting, nice closet space with lots of wooden hangers, and a shelf along one wall which really came in handy. Housekeeping makes the beds and empties the trash daily, but they only give you fresh towels every 2-3 days. Bring your own bar of soap, as they only give you small bottles of body wash; and bring your own wash cloths if you wish. Also, there is no Kleenex. Everything else is wonderful. Breakfast buffet is 9 euros per person and quite sufficient; includes cereals, OJ, wonderful fresh breads, cheeses, meats, jellies, honey, fresh fruit, coffee and tea. Breakfast room is cute and comfortable. We loved Casa Mathilda and would stay here again!!!
Room small, no tub and no view but place was cozy, tucked away, and felt very safe. Nice common area.
Close to delicious bakeries and conveniently locat
Courtyard room had NO courtyard and no light and was quite small
Well located, only 100 meters from Ave. Diagonal
Owner was so helpful, arranged for a cab to pick us up in tne morning and made up Breakfast trays for us since we were leaving early. The rooms are bright, fresh, clean, modern looking. There is a very nice lounge room and a beautiful terrace to sit out on and enjoy a glass of vino in the evening. Would definitely stay again!!! Peter and Lorraine
Casa Mathilda was a great find! Very clean and cute, perfect for a stay in Barcelona. Gracia neighborhood is great, within walking distance of Sagrada Familia and Casa Batllo. Would absolutely stay here again.
Lovely place to stay
The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They gave us maps and tips and were always available to answer questions. The area is very convenient and close to many things. Plus the Metro and bus stops are close for longer distances. We had a lovely stay.

The property is well located within walking distance of shops and restaurants. The hotel is clean and smells great. We would definitely stay here again.
