Amazing

Walking distance from Oxalis and owner was very understanding of caving adventures, assisted with our laundry over night and the lodge has riverside views, was clean and had comfortable bed. Easy to coordinate a ride with the staff there or using grab or town is about 20 min walk away with stops to eat and watch the river along the way. They offer food for all meals and the breakfast was good, cooked to order :) I would stay here again. Plus everyone in town told me they know the owner and are good friends

Wonderful host and such great food. Amazing value

A little older property, but clean and affordable and very helpful staff. A bit far from some things but they have bikes which made exploring easy. Even helped me get a birthday cake for my son while we were there!

Incredibly good value for very clean accommodation. It is a couple of km outside the main area of Phong Nha, but otherwise great. And the owner offered competitive travel to and from the airport/train station and even to Paradise Cave.

My stay was excellent. The staff is so welcoming and accommodating. The location is great with river access and biking distance to the busy area of town. I would definitely stay here again if I am in the area.

ROOM WITH A VIEW

Ok so it wasn’t perfect but it WAS very enjoyable. Room 6 overlooking the river was fantastic. The mountains are beautiful along the river. The staff here is great from the owners to all the staff. The language barrier was a bit of an issue even with google translate and we often didn’t get exactly what we ordered at meal time but everything was delicious. The owner was great to organize everything I needed from taxis to a private guide to the caves. I would return here in a heartbeat and highly recommended.

Wonderful stay!

The owner of the property had a drunken party on the deck below our bungalow. It went on from 8pm until 2am. We did not sleep. There is hot water for about 1 minute. The bed sagged and was really old. This is a run down hostel. It shouldn’t be on Expedia. We left 2 nights early but paid for 4 nights

Mice were climbing on the roof all night, both nights....hear squealing and running around...difficult to sleep as the roof was a thin metal.... Bed was comfortable....

The staff at Carambola Bungalow were amazing. They went above and beyond by asking someone to pick us up at 4am and bring us to the place we were staying. The location was beautiful, service was great, and food was awesome. Would stay here again.

Great location at the quieter end of town, good swimming, friendly service, nice secluded bungalows, free use of bicycles to get around, great advice on tours and what to see and do. We enjoyed every minute of our stay, highly recommend.

We stayed at Carambola for one night, after our two-day trek with Oxalis tours. It was perfect. The location is very close to the tour company, and the hospitality and friendliness of Ha and his family was genuinely warm. Rooms are super comfortable. Food is delicious. Perfect place to rest and regroup while traveling and after a long hike. Thank you, Ha!

Highly recommend this stay as it was a lovely atmosphere, well maintained and great service from the family running it. It looked much better than others in the area, its a bit out of town but thats the attraction and its easy to get a cab or ride into town. dining options around this area are a bit limited but the restaurant service on site is pretty good. If your here for the outdoors, this is a great choice. highly recommended.

Beautiful property on the river. We stayed in the river facing bungalow. Woke up to a beautiful view everyday. There is not much around but they had all the necessities. One night we walked into town to have dinner, only about 1km away. We were able to rent a scooter directly from property which was very convenient. The owner organized everything for us, in terms of getting to property, tours and then a drive to airport. It was fantastic! They have a restaurant on site where we had dinner and breakfast. Food was excellent!

The perfect bungalow

The owner Ha picked us up from the station and we received welcome drinks on arrival. Our bungalow was very clean and located right on the river with incredible views. The Lovely family also helped us book a great tour and bikes during our stay. We only stayed 2 nights, I wish we stayed longer!

We absolutely loved this homestay! It was quiet and removed fron town, but still very walkable. The staff was truly wonderful. The food was delicious and well priced. We would reccomend this homestay with the highest regard!

A wonderful place to stay. Beautiful location and the bungalows were very cute. Staff were lovely. Excellent value for money and would definitely recommend.

Outstanding Service

Kudos to Mr Ha, owner of Carambola Bungalow. He has been very polite and prompt with our replies, punctual with pick up (from Dong Hoi Train Station), service rendered by all of his staff was brilliant. We will like to thank him for offering us a shower place (after our cave tour). PS: Our favourite drink at their place is ‘Yougurt Drink’.

Spacious lodge overlooking the river

Friendly staff, fab view & soak up the local culture (including the call to early morning mass and night local fishing fascinating). Food typical of Vietnam. For the price this was excellent value for money, staff friendly & helpful. Location 2km out of the main town but we got a lift to the bus and picked up by the tour co for the cave tour.

The place was fantastic... location was great.. far enough away from the party bars for early sleep, but close enough to easily go to the bars if you wanted...

This place was great even though the weather wasn't brilliant! The staff were fantastic although we got the vibe that there was an underlying issue going onsomewhere but hey...! Views to die for and great location.

Our stay was very pleasant. The owners are more than happy to ensure your stay exceeds your expectations. The property is sited right on the river and the spacious bungalows are really clean and complete. It is very quiet and serene because it is a long walk to central part of town.

The owners were very very welcoming, helpful and attentive to every need and desire. English was sufficient for clear communications. Breakfast options were plentiful. Bungalows were roomy and quiet and private. Right on the water and a beautiful and serene surrounding. However, central town is quite some distance to walk, about 30 minutes.

Amazing stay, hotel and staff!

Carambola Bungalow completely exceeded our expectations. The views from our room were incredible, looking out onto the river surrounded by mountains. Our room was lovely and such good condition and facilities considering we were in the middle of a national park. Internet was great too, with a router in our room! The staff made our stay a whole lot nicer. Ha was such a lovely owner and always gave us advice on what to do. We were also invited to a family dinner with the other guests and it was incredible to get to have an evening with them. Finally, we had an issue at the airport with a flight being cancelled, and Ha continued to help us even once we had checked out. He found us a hotel we could stay in and text us throughout the day to check we were okay. Overall an amazing stay and the loveliest people. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much! We only wish our stay had been longer.

I did not get the room I booked. I booked and paid for a double room with mountain view and was given a twin room with no view at all. The WC has a foul ordor and the interior is made as cheap as possible while still trying to be functional. They have a good chunk of river and the view is great. The host is friendly and helpful. Food is not good but it's not hard to find better nearby.

Incredible experiance.

For our visit of Phong Nha, we chose to book 3 nights at the Carambola Bungalow from Hotels.com. After booking, I called the hotel and arraigned pickup from Dong Hoi Train Station. Mr. Ha and his Driver Phong were waiting for us. Once we arrived at the hotel, we received a warm greeting from the Staff, then taken to our room. The Room was very comfortable, with an incredible view of the River and Mountains. A Refrigerator and Hotpot were provided. Wifi connection was good enough for streaming Netflix. We arrived late, so we decided to eat at the Restaurant. In the morning, We enjoyed the excellent breakfast provided by the Hotel at no extra expense. The Hotel provided us with a Driver that took us to Paradise Cave. He stopped along the way so we could take pictures of the jungle and mountains. The Staff at Carambola Bungalow are exceptional. They provide first class service at an extremely reasonable rate. I enjoyed my interactions with them and consider them as friends. I highly recommend this hotel for value, view, cleanliness, aesthetics, and down to earth Vietnamese Hospitality.

Fantastisk sted

Vi havde sådan en dejlig oplevelse her. Bungalowen var hyggelig, udsigten var god, maden var lækker og servicen var helt i top. Vi fik en masse hjælp til at booke både tour til Phong Nha Cave og bus til næste destination. Vi var så glade for at være her. Det eneste var vejret som var lidt i mod os men det er jo ikke hotellets skyld. 10/10 oplevelse

Gentillesse, paysage, détente

On a adoré notre bungalow sur pilotis près de la rivière. Le paysage est magnifique, le soir on peut se baigner dans la rivière depuis la plage de l'hôtel.Monsieur HA et sa famille sont adorables et très serviables. Il font le laundry, et les repas sont très bons, les excursions proposées géniales. Un séjour parfait que l'on recommande à tous dans un cadre de rêve.

Le responsable Ha se soucie des besoins de tout genre our les clients tandis que sa femme Ngoc est attentive des demandes . Ce fut une rencontre harmonieuse entre la nature et humaine

Très bien situé près de l’entrée des cavernes de Phong nha .Si vous avez besoin d’un transport de la gare ou de l’aéroport le propriétaire offre le service ,il est très gentil et si vous avez des besoins lors de votre visite il y répondra avec plaisir. Nous avons pris tous nos repas sur place car la nourriture était très bonne à un prix raisonnable; nous y reviendrions sans aucune hésitation.

Sejour idyllique

Très bonne adresse où séjourner pour decouvrir la région. Un paysage idyllique au reveil donnant sur la riviere et les montagnes.

혼행족들에게 최고 ㅎㅎㅎ 경치 진짜예쁘고 좋아요. 근데 먹을것은 미리준비하셔야해요 주변에 암것도앖어요. 경치가별로 안중요하시면 시내로 가시는걸 추천 ㅎ

Stay in Phong Nha

stayed for two nights. Friendly staff, helped us book a tour to the national park. Drived us to the center. og Phong Nha. Good food. Clean room. The air condition did not get wery cool, but cool enough to sleep. Very beautiful location and wiew.

A perfect place to stay between excursions.

The stay at Carambola bungalow was a very pleasant surprise. Everything from the reminder before arrival whether transportation was considered, the service upon arrival, the cleanliness of the room and the owners (Ha and his wife) efforts to make you feel welcome was impressive. The location is simply breath taking with a full overview of the river and the mountains beyond. Within 25 m there is a small local beach where it is possible to take swim. This is the perfect stay between “cave explorations”. They also serve very tasty local food. I would clearly recommend a stay at Carambola if you have the opportunity.
